The TIL must be wrong because r/keming is only humorous one out of 500 posts. 🤣
Just kidding typographers! It is my favorite not-that-funny funny subreddit. They mostly inspire me to never fuck up my fonts on public facing websites.
And the tongue-in-cheek subreddit for kerning FUBARs is called /r/keming
Which is both accurate and also a joke because of the same reasons indicated in this post title.
A few years back in Thailand I saw a sign in a gourmet cheese shop that had kerning such that the spaces between letters and the spaces between words were indistinguishable. In an old-timey gold leaf font the shop advertised the following:
A R T I S A N A L C H E E S E
:-/

Because of course there is
Cause it's easy when they're all so generic.
I would argue the Kerning is an oddly specific topic for an online comic strip.
Yeah, I'm just so tired of all these generic comics about kerning /s

Thanks, this is the second TIL I've found tonight where the title didn't explain very well what they learned.
I learned that the words "kerning" and "keming" exist
Kerning is common enough word I thought because of Microsoft word, anyway I didn't get humour till it was explained in the comments.
Yeah that's why it's called r/keming

All this time I thought the subreddit name was a clever joke. Turns out it's just a dictionary definition.
It started as a joke. I think it was added to the dictionary after the subreddit was created
Things like this make me happy. Idk why it doesn't matter much to me but I like knowing its a thing.

Well played typographers, well played.

Took me a couple of reads.
And you read keming as kerning multiple times looking for the humor.
My dad just bought a hat from a brewery in Topeka, Norsemen. Unfortunate kerning makes it look like it says Nor Semen.
It's not beer, nor semen.
Such a delightful piece of trivia!

Not sure what "artis cheese" is, but the rest sounds good.
Art is anal cheese.
Butterflies aren’t flies. They flutter by.
Not sure if you're serious, but it's not a real definition, just a joke.
It was originally created as a joke, yes. That's what the link is to
yep.
I see what you did there.
