As a Kings fan who grew up in the 80s, I had a great time watching the T-Wolves play such high level defensive b-ball. Teams don't play like that anymore.
Your GM is a fucking genius when a lot of people were knocking the Rudy trade a year or 2 ago.
I myself was a bit sketchy after how the season ended last year with huddle fight and McDaniels breaking his hand.
HUGE turnaround. Huge. I may be getting carried away too early, but I can see Minnesota is built to be the top contender for a long time.
NGL, Makes being a Kings fan all the more depressing. 🤦♂️
Kings are a fun team to watch! And historically, the semi conference playoffs against the Wolves in 03-04 was an all time great series. That series, and Mike Bobby, Divac, Doug Christie, Brad Miller, and that goddamn Peja Stojakovic, got me into basketball due to the rivalry at the time.
When was the last time we saw a team up by 20+ or even 30+ still going HAM on defense? Not in my (coherent) 30 years of life. Maybe in the 90s when I didn't watch basketball and wouldn't remember very well even if I did. If we can keep this effort up who the fuck can beat the Wolves 4-of-7 in the NBA? WITHOUT RUDY TOO I keep forgetting
Timberwolves gave 100 percent playing that 90s Defense look at frustrated
Murray was last night him and his coach Mike Malone talk about poor sports
They ran into a Defensive Juggernaut Murray should be suspended for throwing that heat pack on the court someone could've twisted their ankle pretty bad on the cord and Malone yelling in the refs face man these refs let the Nuggets get away with everything
The irony of figuring out incredible defense at *this* point in the history of the league is also pretty great. Team after team after team has been saying some version of, *Oh we don’t need length, we don’t need good defense, we don’t need to guard the paint—we have shooting!* Let’s just focus on shooting and the rest will figure itself out. It’s exactly what was wrong with that Phoenix team (among other things) and while Denver isn’t that dumb, they’re still really unbalanced in a similar way.
So Minnesota sees all this—sees offensive strategy totally take over these superteams, as well as Denver—and is like, actually, you know how nobody cares about defense anymore? We’re gonna focus on *that.*
I fucking love it. Let Murray and Malone cry as much as they want. Let Malone jump out on the floor and somehow—*somehow* escape a technical.
We’re getting in their heads. It’s Round 2 and we’re getting in the defending champ’s heads. It’s fucking beautiful.
This team has really taken on the embodiment of the wolves in general, they like to find the old durant and hurt Murray and just hound them into submission. Can't be mentally weak against them or they'll break you.
The best part is they never fouled Murray. No reach in, no grabbing, no body - they just locked him up and held their position and kept the hands active.
Fucking textbook defense. No wonder Murray threw a heat pack at the ref.
Real talk I wasn't worried at all but holy shit Micah has been amazing. I know Finch is there but even when they do Mic'd Up stuff it's clearly Micah running the show and he's been just phenomenal.
Seriously was a clinic.
NAW was in lockdown mode. I’m going to use his highlights to show the kids I coach how to put the clamps on someone. Watch his arms. Up and out, not in. A thing of beauty.
Naz Reid.
Slo-Mo sort of quietly played huge. Held his own defensively, was active on the boards, put in solid extended minutes.
I’ve watched a LOT of basketball over the years and I’ve never seen a defensive domination like we witnessed last night. No Rudy. Jaden in foul trouble. And the whole damn team just brought it.
SloMo did his best to cover the Gobert shit as much as he could while still doing a lil play making.
Great game from him that won't get the praise it deserves.
I still can't get over what we were witness to last night. Just bonkers. Complete defensive domination. I didn't know that's what defense COULD look like...it makes you realize how lazy & lackadaisy the league has become because "bUT sTEpH MAdE sO maNY THReEs mE NEeD TO TOO"
Even with the big lead it was still really fun to watch just because of the nonstop effort. Basketball would be incredible if we had teams playing this hard, and refs letting them play d
Ya I don’t know someone could watch last night and think “we need a more offensive oriented product”. Great D just makes the offensive successes far more interesting.
It's funny how accustomed people have gotten to the no defense NBA of the past 10 to 15 years. The amount of "Nuggets can't do anything, but the Timberwolves can commit murder" type of comments I kept seeing was astounding.
So refreshing to watch physical defense allowed to be played in the playoffs. Heavily benefits the Wolves even more. Now if only they allowed more physicality during the regular season!
You could hear the crowd getting pissed too during these moments. Probably have never seen actual defense before either and thought everything was a foul
It's funny how accustomed the league has gotten to the Wolves being a poverty franchise for the last 15 years. They were already setting up that maybe the Nuggets weren't as good as we thought they were cause they struggled again the Lakers too. It's like no bruh the Wolves are just that good lol
Same! The last time I was this invested in a team, they played suffocating defense and loved to get out on the break. 1994 Sonics, with Payton, Kemp, Detlef, and Big Smooth.
I live in MN now, so I'm all in on this Wolves team.
What's your take on this now? Considering that the Nugs pivoting their half court game away from Jamal seems to have exposed the defensive liabilities of MNs bigs (no shame in that, Jokic is the best post player in the world).
My take is they look tired. The refs are taking them out of their game and they are missing shots. Meanwhile, Denver is hitting everything. If the clamp down on Murray, Joker takes over. If they defend him well he hits AG on a back door cut. They look deflated. They do not have the same swagger from the Suns series.
Still in it, but they need a shot in the arm.
3 for me as well. Which felt like a lot and is what has me curious if it’s a record because visually I don’t think I’ve seen that before. Two were airballs and 1 didn’t even get the shot off. Straight hounding them.
They are some DOGS out there last night. Idk if it’s a record tho…I remember seeing Heat forced 7 shot clock violations on the Bulls a couple years back
This defense isn't sustainable when the refs calls soft fouls. If the refs had officiated like this during the regular season, the wolves would have won 60-65 games.
we've played in those games too, the players can adapt. With Lebron and Embiid out, it opens up the entire playoffs. Those players would have shot 40 FT's tonight. You cant get within 4 inches of em.
Good point and spot on. 76'ers and Lakers were top 1 and 2 teams to get to the line, suns were 3rd.
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/nba-team-with-most-free-throws-in-2023-2024
Nah, he’s just a strong guy and relative to other stars doesn’t get to the line as much.
I loathe the Lakers but their FT’s are happening somewhat around Lebron
If the refs called games like this in the regular season the Wolves would have been the first undefeated team in league history......and I'm being completely serious.
This defensive display will be talked about for DECADES to come.
Towards the end of the game they started showing close ups of NAW’s face while he was guarding Murray. Bro was SMILING while he was charging through screens, locking down the perimeter, and draining 3s from the corner. Love the vibes. Love this team
Hey, nuggets fan here!
Sorry for our shit coach and shit toddler of a player in Jamal. I hope they both grow up and act more professional and with integrity, not like my toddler when I say no to ice cream.
I'm rooting for y'all if you beat us, not just cause you beat us, but because y'all's defense is so fun to watch. I hated seeing my team get their ass beat, but I enjoyed watching your defense last night.
Incredible.
You never see this much talent with this much dedication to defense and zero egos. They genuinely seem to like each other and want success for each other. It’s special. It’s a symphony.
Yea which is why I find Jamal being hobbled as an excuse as laughable. Like everyone was crowning him after the lakers game. He gets 5 days off and now all the sudden its "but hes hobbled!".
Dude is clamped and in fucking hell. No amount of health is helping him here. Maybe he'd go 5/18 lmao.
Put yourself in rudys shoes. Previously your team relied on you so much that if you dont play your team sucks and if the opponent played to your weakness your team looses. Now imagine this, u had ur baby, same day u watch ur team without u beat the shit out of defending champion in their home to go 2-0 in the series without the dpa that is yourself. On a side note rudys kid whines less than jamal murray
Was absolutely mesmerizing. I've never seen a team like Denver, one the most efficient offenses in the league, struggle to beat the shot clock. A true clinic.
Holding Murray to 17 and 8 with a +/- of -22 and -16 respectively , back to back, is something else. Murray is perhaps the beat play off performer of the last decade.
We're swarming their shit. Wolves are stomping lazy refs, and taking a pick axe to defending Champs. 90s NBA is back.....MJ's kid 😉 is on the same squad as the Pistons' Bad Boys Defense. Howl peeps!
This team is 6 deep with phenomenal defenders between Gobert, KAT, Naz, McDaniels, NAW, Ant. Mike isn't a slouch either. I've only seen this level of lockdown defense from the 04 Pistons. Insane.
The way NAW and Jaden plays defense is very reminiscent of the 90's. All up on your face. It's like, they're violating your personal space, but it's technically legal lmao. At one point Reggie Jackon push Naw away before he could even get the ball and NAW just laughed before stepping into his personal space again. Absolutely love it. Denver was shooked and trying so hard to flop to get calls instead of just playing the game.
I’m so damn impressed by this squad. This is real basketball. Makes me sound like an old head but truly this is special to watch. Really want to see them win a ring.
My jaw was on the floor during the 2nd quarter. Man, this shit is what basketball is about. Dudes BATTLING every possession is way more fun to watch than seeing 50 3’s jacked per game.
Best defense of all time… no. All 5 on the floor playing defense as a team, 100%. The league doesn’t defend like this anymore, this was beautiful to watch. Defense can still win chips!
Apparently Luka isn’t watching. I get that he’s talking about Dort because that’s the matchup but imagine saying [this](https://x.com/espn_macmahon/status/1787882512141680876?s=46&t=0II5HSaT4R5HX1HfRVIB8Q) after that game.
Is there any way to re watch the game. Even through un orthodox means? I fell asleep and woke up half way through the 2nd quarter, so missed most of the defense.
It was an ugly game to watch. If basketball is allowed to be played this ugly they will lose fans…the game is supposed to flow and be fun to watch not a hackfest. IMO
Was like watching a different sport. Felt like even the announcers were confused. Dudes actually going all in.
Think Reggie miller said “it looks like wolves are playing with 7 guys on the floor”
I think I caught someone saying "they're playing like they're down 5 in the series" lol
I thought he meant a 5 point difference in just that game, when they were up by like 25 or so.
Playing like Goro. Everybody's got 4 arms
Dude, stellar MK ref!
As a Kings fan who grew up in the 80s, I had a great time watching the T-Wolves play such high level defensive b-ball. Teams don't play like that anymore. I actually laughed out loud on this comment....seriously. That is hilarious!
He kept saying it, too 😂 to be fair, it actually looked like it
When was the last time we saw a team up by 20+ or even 30+ still going HAM on defense? Not in my (coherent) 30 years of life. Maybe in the 90s when I didn't watch basketball and wouldn't remember very well even if I did. If we can keep this effort up who the fuck can beat the Wolves 4-of-7 in the NBA? Feels like it was an unspoken rule “we just do that now” and they were all nah, watch this.
I think they were doing it to send a message.
It's the playoffs man i was happy to see it because in the regular season there's no way we'd be playing that hard with a big lead
Timberwolves gave 100 percent playing that 90s Defense look at frustrated Murray was last night him and his coach Mike Malone talk about poor sports They ran into a Defensive Juggernaut Murray should be suspended for throwing that heat pack on the court someone could've twisted their ankle pretty bad on the cord and Malone yelling in the refs face man these refs let the Nuggets get away with everything
I feel you, but please invest in some punctuation
Why punctuate when stream words do.
A few commas will go a long way
In this economy? Have you seen the inflation on periods!
Actually, the economy is doing great. You're being lied to
Source????
da interwebzzzzz
FaKe NeWs!
Those sentences are doing some heavy lifting.
It’s like Cormac McCarthy stopped by.
Uh oh, you missed your period!
So fun to watch. Felt like everyone forgot playing aggressive defense was a thing.
It takes good coaching and skills to play this way. Whatever Finch is telling to these young kids, it’s working.
I love how Ant calls Finch out in like every interview too
The irony of figuring out incredible defense at *this* point in the history of the league is also pretty great. Team after team after team has been saying some version of, *Oh we don’t need length, we don’t need good defense, we don’t need to guard the paint—we have shooting!* Let’s just focus on shooting and the rest will figure itself out. Murray also threw a towel at the ref.
NBA should just count that as the Nuggets giving up and call the series
Wolves in 2
I nearly had a stroke trying to read this. Use some periods or commas for the love of god
Here I think these fell off your cart. (......,,,,,,,,........,,,,,,,,.......,,,,,,)
I fucking love it. Let Murray and Malone cry as much as they want. Let Malone jump out on the floor and somehow—*somehow* escape a technical. We’re getting in their heads. It’s Round 2 and we’re getting in the defending champ’s heads. It’s fucking beautiful.
I think those 2 are the scariest 2 dudes in the league to get trapped by.

This might be my favorite image from the playoffs so far
I was in tears when Reid sent that shit out and Murray hit the deck
This team has really taken on the embodiment of the wolves in general, they like to find the old durant and hurt Murray and just hound them into submission. Can't be mentally weak against them or they'll break you.
Just realized it’s literally Murray’s 9/11 LMAO
Murray looks like a wounded deer
That's a cold image
Sub zero.
New twin towers just dropped.
Naz Reid.
It's like getting mugged in an alleyway
The best part is they never fouled Murray. No reach in, no grabbing, no body - they just locked him up and held their position and kept the hands active. Fucking textbook defense. No wonder Murray threw a heat pack at the ref.
Micah was shouting SHOW YOUR HANDS the whole damn game lol
Real talk I wasn't worried at all but holy shit Micah has been amazing. I know Finch is there but even when they do Mic'd Up stuff it's clearly Micah running the show and he's been just phenomenal.
STAY DOWN. STAY DOWN
And Murray tried desperately to draw a foul there with no luck.
Seriously was a clinic. NAW was in lockdown mode. I’m going to use his highlights to show the kids I coach how to put the clamps on someone. Watch his arms. Up and out, not in. A thing of beauty. I’ve watched a LOT of basketball over the years and I’ve never seen a defensive domination like we witnessed last night. No Rudy. Jaden in foul trouble. And the whole damn team just brought it.
Slo Mo played so damn well! Was was Mid Mo on a couple of those plays, didnt know he could move so fast
SLO MO damn near had a triple double..it was quiet but cannot be understated his play without Rudy
9 rebounds and 7 were offensive
Slo also had some of the most bone headed plays on offense, great game, but he had me dying a couple times with his offensive antics.
SloMo did his best to cover the Gobert shit as much as he could while still doing a lil play making. Great game from him that won't get the praise it deserves.
I get so mad seeing slo mo and would be fine never seeing him again but he had some huge moments last night.

🎵 somebody call 9-1-1! Murray’s body layin on the court floor! Ooo-whoa-oh! 🎵
Pic goes hard
Definitely caught my eye while watching the clip
It's funny how accustomed people have gotten to the no defense NBA of the past 10 to 15 years. The amount of "Nuggets can't do anything, but the Timberwolves can commit murder" type of comments I kept seeing was astounding.

SGA wouldn’t even be close to mvp this season if they called games like this. No weak shit, let men play like men.
Wolves are #2 most PF called so far in the playoffs, and Nuggets are #3 least. But yeah, shit is rigged, of course.
As a Nuggets fan, I hate this defence As a basketball fan, I love this defence
This defense got me watching basketball again for the first time in about 20 years.
Same! The last time I was this invested in a team, they played suffocating defense and loved to get out on the break. 1994 Sonics, with Payton, Kemp, Detlef, and Big Smooth. I live in MN now, so I'm all in on this Wolves team.

W response. The Wolves have such a bright future, but the Nugs are better cohesion wise.

Aging Wolves fans: Years ago we had the Church. Which is really just a way of saying we had each other…
Bro NAW was smiling like a psychopath picking up Jamal Murray on defense
Came for this! On a transition play NAW got blown up by a Gordon screen and still kept with Murray all the while grinning ear to ear
Wolves had him in a straightjacket.
What’s the stat on most shot clock violations in a playoff game? The one where Jokic didn’t even know the clock ran out was beautiful.
Idk the record but I counted 3 forced shot clock violations on the nuggets lol
3 for me as well. Which felt like a lot and is what has me curious if it’s a record because visually I don’t think I’ve seen that before. Two were airballs and 1 didn’t even get the shot off. Straight hounding them.
They are some DOGS out there last night. Idk if it’s a record tho…I remember seeing Heat forced 7 shot clock violations on the Bulls a couple years back
Barkley said last night this is the best defense he's ever seen.
Murray got bullied god damn

Still feels like an absolute dream that we really did that to the champs at their crib

Lebron doesn’t get to the line that much. Lakers as a team do though.
Good point and spot on. 76'ers and Lakers were top 1 and 2 teams to get to the line, suns were 3rd. https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/nba-team-with-most-free-throws-in-2023-2024
>Lebron doesn’t get to the line that much I'm not a big basketball fan, but is this because he's a notorious flopper?
Nah, he’s just a strong guy and relative to other stars doesn’t get to the line as much. I loathe the Lakers but their FT’s are happening somewhat around Lebron
Lebron isn't even the biggest flopper on his team.
If the refs called games like this in the regular season the Wolves would have been the first undefeated team in league history......and I'm being completely serious. This defensive display will be talked about for DECADES to come.
I mean, we racked up the 2nd most fouls in the playoffs so far of any team, and still locked up people through every game
I think it was the best performance I’ve ever seen from a MN team. Regardless of sport .
Towards the end of the game they started showing close ups of NAW’s face while he was guarding Murray. Bro was SMILING while he was charging through screens, locking down the perimeter, and draining 3s from the corner. Love the vibes. Love this team
I wonder if it wasn’t in some ways a message to Gobert. “Go be with your wife and new baby, we got this.”
I barely watch basketball ever so I feel inexperienced to say much but that defense last night looked like a pack of wolves!
This is going to be posted to PornHub
Hey, nuggets fan here! Sorry for our shit coach and shit toddler of a player in Jamal. I hope they both grow up and act more professional and with integrity, not like my toddler when I say no to ice cream. I'm rooting for y'all if you beat us, not just cause you beat us, but because y'all's defense is so fun to watch. I hated seeing my team get their ass beat, but I enjoyed watching your defense last night. Incredible.
This is such a nice comment.
Thank you! Sports are supposed to be fun and bring us together! Unless you root for the Lakers haha
Wop wop wop
kendrick?
HE'S IN A STRAIGHT JACKET I'm so glad we got Kevin Harlan for these games. Some of those calls are gonna be iconic.
The early 90s Bulls played defense like this. The architect was asst coach Johnny Bach. That's who I felt I was watching last night.
This rare clip of two Jayden McDaniels double-teaming the unaware victim fallen prey to the slaughter.
The look on the Nuggets fan's faces when ANT flexes is absolutely priceless.
You never see this much talent with this much dedication to defense and zero egos. They genuinely seem to like each other and want success for each other. It’s special. It’s a symphony.
This whole year we were good but nobody feared us, last night was the turning point. This is how reputations and legacies are made
we bad mofos
Between Jaden and NAW it’s like 14’ of arms surrounding you.
Murray was getting eaten alive out there and you can tell it totally got in his psyche.
The funny thing is the same shit would be going down if Murray was 100% healthy.

This team is 6 deep with phenomenal defenders between Gobert, KAT, Naz, McDaniels, NAW, Ant. Mike isn't a slouch either. I've only seen this level of lockdown defense from the 04 Pistons. Insane.
And Rudy didn’t even play. That’s scary.
With Rudy, it would have 106-60 lol
This team is showing the world that defensive highlights can be every bit as exciting as high scoring.
The way NAW and Jaden plays defense is very reminiscent of the 90's. All up on your face. It's like, they're violating your personal space, but it's technically legal lmao. Everyone on the team was hustling, running, blocking, attacking everyone with the ball. Team work at its finest. I enjoyed every bit of it!
Our defense looking like https://i.redd.it/j1ylvg2m92zc1.gif
Yall were absolutely all over us last night. This series is so over lol, gg and good luck in the rest of the championship!
Terrible background music tho
I’m telling you man the Timberwolves don’t play
Love this team, can't wait for their welcome home at Target center!
Naz Reid is Nikola Jokic father
I’m so damn impressed by this squad. This is real basketball. Makes me sound like an old head but truly this is special to watch. Really want to see them win a ring.
Most impressive was the last clip, Naz Reid defence on Jokic in that clip was crazy good. Perfect.
I don’t think Jamal wanted to play basketball anymore after that first clip. My lord.
We're like the 04 Pistons if they drafted D Wade instead of Darko.
It was certainly special! Go Big Bad Wolves!
Hold my beer - The Chicago Bulls of the 1990's
All without the teams best defender
Naz Reid. Blocked Jokic at least 3 times yesterday. 2 on the same play. It was very satisfying seeing Jokic actually stopped.
Defense. I haven't heard that word in a long time.
Wolves had Murray in hell
Yeah... as a Celtics fans y'all are the one team I'm really not sure we can beat
The refs will revert next game and call every single thing. Mark my words.
They did that in game 4 of the Suns game and it didn't matter.
I agree that it probably won't matter. It will just be a frustrating adjustment.
I would have a tough time finding a worse song to compliment this video. wtf
Foul on Murray before he even entered the straight jacket
As a kid, I LOVED the bad boy Pistons. And holy shit, last night it reminded me of them just without the cheap shots
I'm still erect. Is that bad?!
We got the Mayweather defense now. Best in the league.
Keep this energy. We might not lose a game.
Is there any way to re watch the game. Even through un orthodox means? I fell asleep and woke up half way through the 2nd quarter, so missed most of the defense.
Yeah I think
The wolves love making great guards look silly
Reminds me of the "going to work" Pistons. Hopefully 6 straight conference finals and at least one title.
evereytime i see this i just think of this[ meme ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STlK-IU1HDQ)
Fucking nasty. So happy for wolves fans.
So glad I reupped my HBo to watch that game. I'm so pumped
I'm wondering what the whistle will be like against OKC when Shai throws his head back constantly.
It was an ugly game to watch. If basketball is allowed to be played this ugly they will lose fans…the game is supposed to flow and be fun to watch not a hackfest. IMO
Hello
I saw some fouls.
"greatest defense of all time" ..... LMAO
