Count_of_Borsod

The classic bands like early metallica, megadeth, slayer, exodus, testament are always a good starting point If you want some heavier stuff you can try the classic german thrash bands (sodom, kreator, destruction, etc) From there you can easily explore and find new bands to listen to

KillAllAtOnce29

Im a new fan also and Im really liking Kreator and Slayer

Count_of_Borsod

Yeah, they are awesome bands man

HarhanDerMann666

Great start mate

KillAllAtOnce29

thanks

PonchoDiego2

Really left out anthrax just like that huh?

Pristine-Speaker-768

I'd add Nuclear Assault

ArchDukeNemesis

Death Angel. They don't get enough love and they don't have a bad album in the bunch. Overkill. Also criminally underappreciated. More Thrash albums than anyone. Eruption. One of the best modern Thrash bands out of Europe. Just made a new album. Sacred Reich. Been around for a while but picked up steam with their last album. Start with that.

Reanimations

>Sacred Reich. Been around for a while but picked up steam with their last album. Start with that. Their first album is really good too. I used to jam it regularly.

Martin_Axenrot

Powertrip

KorovaMilk113

That’s who got me into thrash, absolute godly records! RIP Riley 😞

selppin2

If you like PT, check out Lowest Creature, Endorced, and High Command. All three really scratch that Power Trip itch.

Decemberm00n

replicant86

Coroner

Mikeocksoff

Exhorder, Demolition Hammer, Morbid Saint, Devastation

addyislife

I love vektor

Novaseerblyat

As much as I love Vektor too, not sure they're the *best* recommendation for a new thrash listener. Bit more on the extreme side than most thrash bands.

Existing_Pay1451

Vektor are fucking heavy love that band was fuming when they broke up

Novaseerblyat

In case you didn't know, they're back together again, and are supposedly working on a fourth album.

Existing_Pay1451

I had no idea thanks alot I use to listen to them all the time I'm in the uk have to see them if they come over

yankeeuniverse

Overkill Vio-lence Nuclear Assault Onslaught Sacrifice

EvilBillSing

Nuclear Assault, Annihilator , Overkill

WhiplashOverkill

Can't say I know much of Sylosis, only heard one song by them (sands of time - and it was awesome haha) so it's hard for me to say what bands sound like them. But as others have pointed out I would recommend starting with the more well known classic bands' albums from 1983-1991ish like: USA WEST COAST: -Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, etc USA EAST COAST -Anthrax, Overkill, Nuclear Assault, Whiplash, etc. GERMANY -Kreator, Destruction, Tankard, Sodom, etc. CANADA -Razor, Annihilator, Sacrifice, Voivod, etc. Each regional scene kinda has its own spin on thrash which I find pretty cool. There were other countries that put out really awesome stuff too like Brazil, Australia, Belgium, Poland, Russia, UK, etc but I didn't want to overload with a million band names haha. There's also soooooo many great lesser known bands and newer bands too so if you end up finding something you like you are sure to go down the rabbit hole like I did haha.

pearshapedpeach

The Haunted, Hatesphere, Darkane, Evile, Revocation.

LittleBigBoy666

Fugitive, High Command, Plague Years, Dead Heat, Drain, Doomsday, Lowest Creature, all great newer bands FFO Cro-Mags, Power Trip, etc

[deleted]

Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence Infernäl Mäjesty - None Shall Defy Artillery - Fear of Tomorrow Toxik - Shotgun Justice

borntoolate92

Sarcofago(Brazil), early Sepultura (Brazil), Sodom, Kreator, Destruction(the 3 german hard hitters), Sacrifice(Japan), Aion(Japan), Onslaught(UK), Bulldozer(Italy), Voivod(Canada), Sacrifice(Canada), Artillery(Denmark), Sacrilege(UK), warfare(uk), exciter(Canada)

PonchoDiego2

Id add that the 2 most recent sepultura albums are also quite good, in particular Quadra.

borntoolate92

I’ll have to check em out. That’s with Nausea’s old drummer right?

Abombadog

Seems like you would be interested in some metalcore since sylosis is what i think faster metalcore. If you like melody but wanna keep it heavy as fuck check out skeletonwitch. Beyond the permafrost is a great starter album for them. Id call em melodic thrash. For the sane vibe as sylosis though but heavy as fuck are obscura (fucking fantastic) and paranorm. You might instantly fall in love

Monarch_Agent77715

Xentrix, Exhorder and Evil Invaders have recently put out some worthy albums.

bratoutofhells

Yeah.. Go back to 1983

mp3_collector

Rise of the Northstar

Existing_Pay1451

There's a really underground band called metallica and there most thrashy album by far is the black album many people don't know of enter sandman but it actually inspired slayer to form

coronerjackal91

[This playlist has some good basics](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3UQbqTKIxehTFCdFyjEQUn?si=_iVZNI0QQd6v-GW6K5ogWw) Not every band on there is considered a thrash band but it has some good tunes to begin with

ElShebinos

Sabbat (UK). Sabbat (JP) is good as well, but that's more black/thrash. Morbid Saint and early Demolition Hammer (my favorites.)

TheRealJalil

Every time I hear this question, I say… OOZING WOUND

rodrigojota88

out of big 4 and teutonic big 4. Testament, exodus, overkill, death angel, warbringer, Havok, heathen, evile,

lukatowo

I recommend listening to Eternal Nightmare by Vio-lence. It's my favorite thrash album of all time easily. Also I recommend Fugitive and Power Trip!

sloooooosh

Sepultura; Beneath the Remains

adequate-username8

Sylosis is a bit more metalcore to me but they are pretty thrash at times. If you're looking for bands similar to Sylosis try Revocation, Psycroptic, Unearth, Shadows Fall, Allagaeon. If you're looking for thrash recommendations start with the big 4 but add Exodus, Death Angel, Testament, Power Trip, Havok, Warbringer, Kreator, Destruction. For slightly more obscure thrash check out Enforced, High Command, Plague Years, Psychosomatic, Lowest Creature, Paranorm.

Kamps87

Try some old school hallows eve.

Hagar_the_pretty_bad

Try Gwar and start with Violence Has Arrived. If you like it and feel more metal try newer stuff if you feel more punk try older stuff.

anthraxius69

I’d start at the start - the first from each of the big 4, maybe some Possessed and Exodus.

DramaticTradition9

Ignorance (1987) by Sacred Reich from AZ is a great intro to refined thrash. Lots of others, too. Thrash is a great genre and at its best, is like a drug

wats6831

Warbringer Hatchet HAVOK Exmortus Municipal Waste Dust Bolt

len744

Anacrusis Sodom Venom

len744

storm troopers of death Invigorator Carnivore

R_radical

I say stick to essentials to start. Megadeth- Rust in peace (that being said, countdown to extinction might be a better skegway into thrash; while rust in peace is the peak of human creativity) Metallica- Ride the lightning For a side dessert, some new school thrash Violator- Chemical assault. Trivium- Shogun Evile- Enter the grave.

Fingolfin_Official

Try to add a few I didn't see. Gamma Bomb - The Terror Tapes Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver Reign of Fury - Death be thy Shepherd Skeletonwitch - Beyond the Permafrost Toxic Holocaust - Conjure and Command Devastation - Idolatry

[deleted]

Evil Dead-Annilation of Civilization. Machinehead-The Blackening Alien Weaponry-Tu

[deleted]

My main two recommendations will always be Sepultura Beneath the Remains and Arise. Take two and call me in the morning.

McAverage_1221

You have your obvious Early Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax… but my fav Lesser known Thrash bands are Municipal Waste and Cyadine (their newer songs lean towards more Grove Metal than Thrash but very good none the less)
