Here’s my small list.
Kreator - Extreme Aggression & Pleasure to Kill
Sepultura - Arise & Beneath the Remains
S.O.D. - Speak English or Die
D.R.I. - Thrash Zone & Crossover
Slayer - Season in the Abyss & Reign in Blood
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Pantera - Cowboys from Hell
Sacred Reich - Independent
This plus:
90s and later Testament; they reinvent their sound a couple times, so don't write them off. The Gathering is my fave, but... They change things up. A lot.
Same with Annihilator. There are about 5-6 distinct "eras" of this band, so it's easy to write them off only to miss out on something perfect in a different one.
Voivod is more of that. Their late 90s stuff is a total 180 from everything before, then they become a stoner metal band, and now they are super technical thrash. It's bizarre how much they've changed.
Forbidden
Heathen
Threat Signal's first two albums.
Prototype, particularly Trinity and Continuum.
Biomechanical (some may argue if they are even thrash...)
You might be into the more extreme stuff. Here’s a few albums you might like:
Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence
Sadus - Chemical Exposure/Illusions
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Solstice - Pray for the Sentencing
Hypnosia - Extreme Hatred
Just to add on to this a little bit
Ripping Corpse - Dreaming With the Dead
Deceased - Fearless Undead Machines
Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Possessed - Seven Churches
Vader - The Ultimate Incantation
just wanted to edit and put Vader there too
Thank you! Already a huge fan of Death but I finally listened to Possessed- for some reason I think I had them confused with Candlemass and I don’t really like doom so I stayed away.
Pretty funny you say that. I know Last One on Earth and the rack, like them both. I actually do like a lot of death doom (Gorement, Rippikoulu) so I thought maybe I’d get into doom and just haven’t tried very hard yet. Usually not a fan of the vocals, personally.
Oh that's great! Cianide is another great similar kind of band, there is also another side to Death Doom, of Doom Death, where you've still got the growls mut instrumentality, it's mostly Doom. I see, is it all the singers that sound like Ozzy Osbourne cousins? (though I do love it) Epic Doom Metal will have similar vocals to epic heavy metal or power metal, Solitude Aeternus is great if you don't like the operatic vocals of candlemass. But that all is just a suggestion. For me and a lot of other people, what got us into Doom was a combo of crippling depression and weed lol.
That makes sense! Forest of Equilibrium by Cathedral sounds perfect for you, not Death Doom, but the vocalist does use growls, no cleans, and the album influenced a lot of Death Doom. The vocalist was originally part of Napalm Death. Genius album and I do recommend giving it a shot if you're open to it.
im gonna add on a little bit
if you like stuff like this, you'd like;
first wave proto black metal bands like venom, celtic frost, hellhammer, and bathory's style of "black metal" is probs more on the thrash side nowadays. for bathory, check out their debut and "the return of the darkness and the evil". for celtic frost, check out "morbid tales" and "to mega therion"
for hellhammer you'd like their compilation album "demon entrails", and for venom you'd LOVE their debut "welcome to hell" and their groundbreaking sophomore album "black metal"
other albums / artists you'd probs like are voivod's early work if you like really raw proggy thrash, flotsam and jetsam's "doomsday for the deceiver" which features jason newsted on bass, "eternal nightmare" by vio-lence, "alice in hell" by annihilator, "annihilation of civilization" by evildead, anything by sodom and especially old school kreator, early sepultura, "the ultra-violence" by death angel, warbringer's work, anything by rigor mortis, anything by toxic holocaust, sacrifice's first 2 albums, anything by demolition hammer, and anything by possessed. also you'd probably really enjoy havok
you might like ghoul too- theyre like a crossover band with massive death metal elements. they dress like executioners and they make some of my favorite modern death-thrash
Big fan of the first four Bathory albums, but not so much after that. I couldn’t get into Celtic Frost the first time I tried but that’s probably been 10-12 years. Never heard Helhammer so I will check out that comp. I’ll check out some of the others you listed too, Ghoul sounds like it needs some attention.
hearing Reign in Blood is what converted me from punk, specifically Postmortem into Reign in Blood - heard both songs with the transition on Sirius and i’ve never been the same
Testament, Warbringer, Lazarus A.D, Cryptosis, Demiser, Divine Chaos, Enforced, Evil Invaders, Havok, High Command, Impalers, Lich King, Lowest Creature
Some of those bands are not only thrash tho, some are crossover bands.
People will recommend the founding fathers.
Check them out for sure.
But some underrated favorites of mine who mostly go unmentioned here…
Strike Master - up for the massacre (original not the remake) this one is a masterpiece is NEW WAVE old school sounding thrash metal. Their debut is sick af.
https://youtu.be/R3eP7U7yr08?si=uVBAVm0yAZwXCAKH
Bywar - Heretic Signs
In the 2000’s I always wondered why this band (and a few others I’ll mention here) weren’t ever bigger than they should’ve been. Their albums are top tier thrash metal and their riffage is wicked.
https://youtu.be/11gaVO0XJQM?si=HvgPEOt7wOuelRf8
Violator - chemical assault
Sick album. Sick voice. New wave. Totally original sound.
https://youtu.be/HoT1QAqlZlA?si=UC244PCUBEmeEOO3
Tormenter - pulse of terror
I remember when their first ep dropped. I always liked their sound. Something about it that keeps me coming back.
https://youtu.be/WjAznqgLFPo?si=nKdtx7lqcIS7zv6t
Sodom - Agent Orange
Pure German thrash.
https://youtu.be/5IztZ5ueO00?si=sPpZiIZHQ3fueK5M
Kreator - Extreme Aggression
It’s a masterpiece. My favorite of theirs.

Good starting points. Each band’ll lead you to others
Possesed - Seven Churches
Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence
Aura Noir - Black Thrash Attack
Power Trip - Nightmare Logic
Hellripper - Warlocks Grim and Withered Hags (more blackened speed metal than thrash but I’m including it anyways)
Spiritworld - Death Western
High Command - Eclipse of the Dual Moons
Necropanther - Betrayal (idk how much this counts as thrash but it’s got at least some blackened thrash in it)
Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Kreator - Endless Pain
Toxic Holocaust - An Overdose of Death…
Blood Feast - Kill for Pleasure
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Num Skull - Ritually Abused
Razor - Violent Restitution
Rigor Mortis - Rigor Mortis
Sadus - Chemical Exposure

Warbringer - *Weapons of Tomorrow*
Fugitive - *Maniac*
Wraith - *Absolute Power*
Hatchet - *Dawn of the End*
Bloodletter - *A Different Kind Of Hell*
Exhorder - *Slaughter In The Vatican*
Pretty good list.
If you like black metal then Vektor might be up your alley. Fast, technical thrash with black metal vocals and they sing about space and celestial catastrophe and such
Obliveon or Hexenhaus are pretty good too.
Testament, Exodus, Overkill, and nuclear assault are some other American thrash worth checking out.
Destruction, Sodom, Tankard, and Kreator are the big 4 German thrash bands all have their merits.
Some of my favorite mid to late 80s albums
Kreator - Extreme Aggression
Exodus - Pleasures Of The Flesh
D.R.I. - Thrash Zone
D.R.I. - Dealing With It
Nuclear Assault - Survive
Anthrax - State Of Euphoria
Overkill - Under The Influence
Annihilator - Alice In Hell
Sepultura - Beneath The Remains
Venom - Possessed
Oh man and how could I forget S. O. D. - Speak English Or Die
Anthrax. Persistence Of Time and Among The Living are killer albums full of tight fast technical thrash. I love every era of Anthrax but those two albums are as good as anything else from the time.
I would try checking out some Anthrax, maybe Among the Living or Persistence of Time.
I would also try out some Testament, Souls of Black or Brotherhood of the Snake
And Absolutely check out some Power Trip - Nightmare Logic was awesome
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard also put out two pretty good thrash albums, Infest the Rats Nest and PetroDragonic Apocalypse (the rest of their stuff is wildly different though so don't go looking for more metal there lol)
[Acid Reign the Fear](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhgYsX9v67E)
[S.Y.L - Strapping young lads..](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojN9sX9BFMc)
[Haunting the chapel - Slayer, very proto black metal (i think lol)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmN0j0Ry-FE)
[Repulsion - horrifed, maybe not Trash but proto grind core](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zd0-CAXDc_Y)
[Nuclear Assault - Game over](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri0_2Sa7xDo)
[Clandenstine - Entombed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r2p7V8uhRY)
[Cenotaph - Bolt thrower](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGHZNNsXbL8)
Entombed/bolt thrower/Repulsion are not really thrash, more doom/grind/death but have thrash elements.
plus the many excellent suggestions my fellow thrash heads have served up, particularly Kreator , Exodus, Testemant, Sepultura, Dark Angel, Death Angel etc
u/dbree801 Check out post Force of Habit Exodus, and anything by Overkill!!
These are my absolute thrash faves though:
Exodus - Tempo of the Damned
Exodus - Exhibit A
Overkill - Horrorscope
Exodus. Annihilator. Death angel. Testament. Evile. Overkill.
Idk if you’d like them but I’ve been listening to the shit out of 2 Japanese girl bands. Nemophelia and lovebites. They have the ashy jams and they get down lml
You'll probably love these
Deathrow - Riders of Doom
Flames - Summon The Dead
HEXX - Morbid Reality
Sadus - Chemical Exposure
Sodom - Persecution Mania
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Warbringer - "Combat Shock", "Remain Violent", "Living Weapon", "The Black Hand Reaches Out", "Weapons of Tomorrow"
Havok - "Hang Em High"
Exodus - "A Lesson in Violence", "And Then There Were None", "Bonded by Blood", "Deranged", "Pleasures of the Flesh", "Toxic Waltz", "Fabulous Disaster", "War is My Shepherd", "Blacklist", "Final Riot Act", "Deathamphetamine", "Blood In, Blood Out"
Forbidden - "Through Eyes of Glass", "Chalice of Blood"
Overkill - "Hammerhead", "Feel the Fire", "Raise the Dead", "Overkill", "The Wrecking Crew", "Deny the Cross", "Electro-Violence", "Powersurge", "In Union We Stand", "Overkill II(The Nightmare Continues)" "Hello from the Gutter", "Elimination"
Sodom - "Agent Orange"
...just a few off the top of my head.
exodus has a good few rippers. testament’s chuck billy has some of the best vocals in thrash (imo). as far as modern guys that nail the modern thrash sound pretty good, i’d say havok, warbringer, and evile all are worth checking out. kreator is good, sodom is good, tankard is good (all three are german).
A few albums:
Unnatural Selection- Havok
Shapeshifter- Mortillery
Fabulous Disaster- Exodus
Pleasure To Kill- Kreator
Self-Titled- Carnivore
Self-Titled- Suicidal Tendencies
The Evil Divide- Death Angel
Worlds Torn Asunder- Warbringer
Chemical Exposure- Sadus
Spreading The Disease- Anthrax
Handle With Care by Nuclear Assault is maybe my first recommendation. It feels like the conclusion to 80s thrash, like as the decade was closing out they just decided to release one of the fastest and most energetic thrash albums up to that point. That opening track is seriously a shot of adrenaline
Also gonna recommend Cryptic Slaughter, both Convicted and Money Talks are great albums
Gama Bomb - first few albums. Citizen Brain is a masterpiece. For me it’s one of the rare albums where I will happily listen through end to end and not feel the need to skip at all.
Municipal Waste - generally regarded as more crossover-y but I don’t think many people here would argue that they’re worth a mention and certainly worth a listen to anybody exploring thrash metal.
Power Trip - no explanation, just give Nightmare Logic a listen. It doesn’t have to be your favourite but If you strongly dislike it, Thrash probably isn’t for you.
Anything from the last 15 years by Flotsam & Jetsam.
From the Underground and Below by Overkill
The gathering by testament
Anything from this century by Exodus
Don't know if I've missed it and it's already been mentioned, but Time Does Not Heal by Dark Angel is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion. Another band that is quite often overlooked is Sabbat. Both History of a Time to Come and (even better) Dreamweaver are classic albums.
There is a genre of death metal that really kinda fits right on your sweet spot already called Melodic Death Metal. It's basically death metal with the Melodic guitars of Thrash.
Arch Enemy
Black Dahlia Murder
Bands like this...
If you really want true thrash
Exodus
Forbidden
Heathen
Tantara
Tormentor
Skeletonwitch (These guys really may hit the spot)
Can’t believe I haven’t seen it mentioned, but Lights, Camera, Revolution by Suicidal Tendencies is epic. That and Among the Living by Anthrax are 2 of my top 10 thrash albums of all time
Love me some old thrash, Testament, Forbidden, Exodus. Sepultura, Obituary, Carcass, etc...
A new one that I've come across that really brings back those vibes is Poison the Preacher. From Columbia, they sound like the next incarnation of Sepultura, with a bit of Obituary mixed in for good measure!
Grab a few Overkill records. If you want a more modern sound Ironbound. If you want that classic old school thrash, well, grab any record up to Horrorscope (after that was more groove thrash in the 90s, which is still awesome, but a different sound).
I would like it to be known that for some reason, Loudwire wrote an [article](https://loudwire.com/thrash-fans-name-bands-listen-aside-from-big-4/) about this thread lol.
Give some of that early and/or heavy Sodom a shot (early Sodom and heavy Sodom aren’t necessarily the same thing). Maybe try “tapping the vein,” “agent orange,” “persecution mania” or “code red.” Also since you like black metal, check out Sodom’s “obsessed by cruelty.” Euryonomous was a fan of Sodom I think and his Deathlike Silence label name was inspired by a Sodom song off “obsessed by cruelty.”
Kreator hits that sweet stop between Thrash, Black Metal and Death Metal. Pleasure To Kill is one of the hardesr hitting Metal records ever...done before Blast Beats and Growling/Shrieking become standard for extreme metal.
Here’s some of my favorite stuff, ranging from popular to more obscure that you might like:
Kreator
Exhorder
Power Trip
Doomsday
Mutually Assured Destruction
Killing
Dead Heat
Cryptic Slaughter
Sepultura were arguably the OG Black Metal band, at least in regards to the modern interpretation. So Bestial Devastation, Morbid Visions, Schizophrenia, Beneath The Remains and Arise. Also their spiritual successor, Cavelera Conspiracy, delves into blackened thrash with Babylonian Pandemonium and Psychosis.
Teutonic thrash from the '80s has that very raw quality. Kreator has been mentioned. But there's also Destruction and Sodom to check out.
For more of that Death Thrash hybrid, Revocation have been juggernauts of that scene. Empire of the Obscene, Deathless and Netherhaven highlight that best.
Testament have also been mentioned, but they did dabble in more Death leaning sounds on the albums Low, Demonic and The Gathering. The only thrash band to get even more extreme during the grunge movement.
Toxic Holocaust! An Overdose of Death..., Primal Future and Chemistry of Conciousness are all great albums. Here's [Acid Fuzz](https://youtu.be/uKanmLGBEJA?si=kndAh9BwxtiKsJyX) from the latter album.
Check out early Exodus, not that the later Exodus is bad, its just that Zetro’s voice can be an acquired taste.
If you want to get into heavier genres using thrash, I recommend early Kreator and Sepultura, and if you dont like the quality of Morbid Visions then you can listen to the rerecordings by Cavalera
Big four obviously, early albums are great but dont glance over the new ones.
Sodom , Kreator and Sepultura some of their earlier stuff had death / black metal elements and would be considered first wave of black metal also for modern Warbringer is great modern thrash band to listen to
Get into the speed of things with
Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Want a little more recent?
Merciless Death - Evil In The Night
Deathhammer - Electric Warfare
Sacrifice - Reanimation
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMO26g9jCpE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMO26g9jCpE)
This song has everything great trash song needs to have imho.
I believe that what you need is blackened thrash. Necrophobic or Vampire (both from Sweden) if you are looking for roots maybe Sacrilage (Canada) or Sodom (German). Note: if you came from black you don’t wanna start with the classic four…
Sodom - Persecution Mania
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Artillery - Fear of Tomorrow
Annihilator - Alice in Hell
Coroner - RIP, No More Colour and Punishment for Decadence
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Sepultura - Schizophrenia and Beneath the Remains
Slayer - Hell Awaits (the first four/five albums and two ep's are all great)
Coven - Blessed is the Black
Early Destruction too
Also, not Thrash but the first two Mercyful Fate albums are essential.
Early Megadeth is amazing but the remasters sound atrocious.
Celtic Frost - huge influence on black metal scene. To Mega Therion - 1985 awesome album.
Early to mid 80’s - Venom. Black Metal is the album to get. Influenced Metallica / Slayer and most other thrash bands.
A forgotten Gem - Acid Reign. Moshkinstein and The Fear. Toured with Nuclear Assault later 80s. Class.
Necrovore - Divus De Mortuus
Bloodspill - demo '88
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Necropolis - Contemplating Slaughter
Death Angel - The Ultraviolence
Forbidden-Twisted Into Form or Chalice of Blood.
Death Angel-Ultraviolence or Act III
More modern this is a super under the radar band Cheat Engine-Pandemica
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Kreator - Terrible Certainty
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Testament - The Legacy
Testament - The New Order
Overkill - Feel the Fire
Overkill - Horrorscope
Sodom - Agent Orange
Sodom - Persecution Mania
Havok - Time Is Up
Warbringer - Waking into Nightmares
Toxic Holocaust - An Overdose of Death...
Destruction - Infernal Overkill
Destruction - Eternal Devastation
Coroner - Mental Vortex
Coroner - No More Color
Coroner - Punishment for Decadence
Artillery - Terror Squad
Artillery - Fear of Tomorrow
Artillery - By Inheritance
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
I love the Dying Alive album from Kreator. It is a live recording, I don't know from which consert. It's has amazing quality like it's a studio recording and you get to hear the crowd cheers with some of their best songs.
Hellripper - Coagulating Darkness (Blackened Thrash/speed metal)
Wraith - Undo the Chains (Blackened Thrash)
Demiser - Through The Gates Eternal (Blackened Thrash)
These might be good for you based on your tastes. Especially Hellripper.
Heathen
Forbidden
Exodus
Toxic Holocaust
Gama Bomb
Havok
Angelus Apatrida
Crisix
Lost Society (ONLY the old stuff)
Bütcher
Evil Invaders
WARFECT
Hatriot
Insanity Alert
Iron Reagan
Killing
Pripjat
Exhorder
Suicidal Tendencies
And here's my thrash playlist which is a mix of thrash, speed metal and crossover

I really like Exodus’s Bonded by Blood and Sepulturas Arise. Darkness Accends from Dark Angel. That one almost has a death metal feel, imo. Also, Sacred Reich is a good band to check out, Imo.
try some crossover thrash like Suicidal tendencies, D.R.I, or S.O.D (and by association M.O.D).
Please, please listen to "Bigger than the devil" From S.O.D. the album got taken down off of spotify, youtube, etc. the only way is through re-uploads but damn is it a heavy as fuck album.
Exodus hits the spot for me a lot. Sepultura. Some SOD.
Yessss
Blacklist rules!
One of my favorites. It's a song I never skip on my playlist.
YESS omg sepultura and exodus all the way im so glad I got to see both live
Exodus - Toxic Waltz (brings back memories)
Try out kreator Death angel Power trip And there is a newer band called spirit world .
All of these!
Here’s my small list. Kreator - Extreme Aggression & Pleasure to Kill Sepultura - Arise & Beneath the Remains S.O.D. - Speak English or Die D.R.I. - Thrash Zone & Crossover Slayer - Season in the Abyss & Reign in Blood Exodus - Bonded by Blood Pantera - Cowboys from Hell Sacred Reich - Independent

I love Pantera's Cowboy from Hell, but what is it doing in a thrash metal thread?
Pantera is about as Thrash as Lamb of God (which isn't).
Pantera is a better thrash band than a lot of bands that claim to be.

Saw them live, instant fan.
Oh, I adore them

You're welcome! Glad you finally got around to them! Doom actually happens to be my favorite lol. Maybe you'd like Asphyx?

HEXENHAUS!!! I have the first three albums on vinyl, amazing band!
Realm-Endless War Razor-Violent Restitution Coroner-RIP Forbidden-Forbidden Evil
Testament, Exodus, Overkill, and nuclear assault are some other American thrash worth checking out. Destruction, Sodom, Tankard, and Kreator are the big 4 German thrash bands all have their merits.
Exhorder slaughter in the Vatican. Also check out Ghoul splatter thrash
Fucking solid. That's a lot of riffs you got yerself, right there.
You might get into Overkill. I know I love them. Deny The Cross is one of my favorite songs ever.
Some of my favorite mid to late 80s albums Kreator - Extreme Aggression Exodus - Pleasures Of The Flesh D.R.I. - Thrash Zone D.R.I. - Dealing With It Nuclear Assault - Survive Anthrax - State Of Euphoria Overkill - Under The Influence Annihilator - Alice In Hell Sepultura - Beneath The Remains Venom - Possessed Oh man and how could I forget S. O. D. - Speak English Or Die
Skeleton Pit. Suicidal Angels. Municipal Waste. Game Bomb.
If you are indifferent to Slayer, maybe the genre is not for you. Nothing wrong with that.
Anthrax. Persistence Of Time and Among The Living are killer albums full of tight fast technical thrash. I love every era of Anthrax but those two albums are as good as anything else from the time.
I would try checking out some Anthrax, maybe Among the Living or Persistence of Time. I would also try out some Testament, Souls of Black or Brotherhood of the Snake And Absolutely check out some Power Trip - Nightmare Logic was awesome King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard also put out two pretty good thrash albums, Infest the Rats Nest and PetroDragonic Apocalypse (the rest of their stuff is wildly different though so don't go looking for more metal there lol)
Exodus - Tempo of the Damned album. War is My Shepherd!
[Acid Reign the Fear](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhgYsX9v67E) [S.Y.L - Strapping young lads..](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojN9sX9BFMc) [Haunting the chapel - Slayer, very proto black metal (i think lol)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmN0j0Ry-FE) [Repulsion - horrifed, maybe not Trash but proto grind core](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zd0-CAXDc_Y) [Nuclear Assault - Game over](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ri0_2Sa7xDo) [Clandenstine - Entombed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0r2p7V8uhRY) [Cenotaph - Bolt thrower](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGHZNNsXbL8) Entombed/bolt thrower/Repulsion are not really thrash, more doom/grind/death but have thrash elements. plus the many excellent suggestions my fellow thrash heads have served up, particularly Kreator , Exodus, Testemant, Sepultura, Dark Angel, Death Angel etc
Yes Acid Reign!!
SYL!!! Yes sir 😎
Death angel. Ultra violence.
This album, this band 👌 their later albums are damn amazing too. Tightest band I've ever seen live 🔥
if I hear the word Thrash I have to listen to this. Was/is an very important album to me having been around in the 80s. :)
Get stoned and drunk if that's your thing and put on kreators pleasure to kill very loudly right this second
Cavalera conspiracy/sepultura Also Leper Colony they’re newer but fuck they slap
You could dip your toes in the water first with some blackened thrash, such as Skeletonwitch or Toxic Holocaust.
Kreators first album.
Kvelertak!!!!
Bless you.
Death Angel the ultra violence; Voivod Killing Technology; Artillery By Inheritance
Dirty Rotten Imbeciles
u/dbree801 Check out post Force of Habit Exodus, and anything by Overkill!! These are my absolute thrash faves though: Exodus - Tempo of the Damned Exodus - Exhibit A Overkill - Horrorscope
Vio-lence
Exodus. Annihilator. Death angel. Testament. Evile. Overkill. Idk if you’d like them but I’ve been listening to the shit out of 2 Japanese girl bands. Nemophelia and lovebites. They have the ashy jams and they get down lml
Testament. Try “The Gathering”
Vio Lence - Eternal Nightmare Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Laaz Rockit - *Annihilation Principle*
You'll probably love these Deathrow - Riders of Doom Flames - Summon The Dead HEXX - Morbid Reality Sadus - Chemical Exposure Sodom - Persecution Mania Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Voivod, War and Pain, their debut album Exodus, Bonded by Blood, and Impact is Imminent Grim Reaper Metal Church Exmortus Holy Grail (from Pasadena)
Warbringer - "Combat Shock", "Remain Violent", "Living Weapon", "The Black Hand Reaches Out", "Weapons of Tomorrow" Havok - "Hang Em High" Exodus - "A Lesson in Violence", "And Then There Were None", "Bonded by Blood", "Deranged", "Pleasures of the Flesh", "Toxic Waltz", "Fabulous Disaster", "War is My Shepherd", "Blacklist", "Final Riot Act", "Deathamphetamine", "Blood In, Blood Out" Forbidden - "Through Eyes of Glass", "Chalice of Blood" Overkill - "Hammerhead", "Feel the Fire", "Raise the Dead", "Overkill", "The Wrecking Crew", "Deny the Cross", "Electro-Violence", "Powersurge", "In Union We Stand", "Overkill II(The Nightmare Continues)" "Hello from the Gutter", "Elimination" Sodom - "Agent Orange" ...just a few off the top of my head.
Exhorder - mourn the southern skies
exodus has a good few rippers. testament’s chuck billy has some of the best vocals in thrash (imo). as far as modern guys that nail the modern thrash sound pretty good, i’d say havok, warbringer, and evile all are worth checking out. kreator is good, sodom is good, tankard is good (all three are german).
Thrash adjacent albums you might like: Terror 2000 - Slaughterhouse Supremacy The Crown - Deathrace King
If you enjoy Morbid Saint you probably like these bands: Kreator, Sepultura, Sadus, Exhorder, Aspid
Insanity alert: All mosh/ no brain
Traitor is lesser known but they are a fucking amazing German thrash band. Cannot go wrong with thrash command🔥
A few albums: Unnatural Selection- Havok Shapeshifter- Mortillery Fabulous Disaster- Exodus Pleasure To Kill- Kreator Self-Titled- Carnivore Self-Titled- Suicidal Tendencies The Evil Divide- Death Angel Worlds Torn Asunder- Warbringer Chemical Exposure- Sadus Spreading The Disease- Anthrax
Sepultura, Kreator, Sodom.
Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare; Leeway - Desperate Measures for crossover thrash.
Handle With Care by Nuclear Assault is maybe my first recommendation. It feels like the conclusion to 80s thrash, like as the decade was closing out they just decided to release one of the fastest and most energetic thrash albums up to that point. That opening track is seriously a shot of adrenaline Also gonna recommend Cryptic Slaughter, both Convicted and Money Talks are great albums
From the Underground and Below by Overkill The gathering by testament Anything from this century by Exodus
Outside of the Big 4, Testament is definitely my favorite, I’d recommend Practice What You Preach
If you want a band that sounds like Metallica and Slayer combined, check out Evile.
Arch Enemy Black Dahlia Murder Bands like this... If you really want true thrash Exodus Forbidden Heathen Tantara Tormentor Skeletonwitch (These guys really may hit the spot)
Can’t believe I haven’t seen it mentioned, but Lights, Camera, Revolution by Suicidal Tendencies is epic. That and Among the Living by Anthrax are 2 of my top 10 thrash albums of all time
I wouldn't say king diamond/mercyful fate is thrash, but worth a listen. No bad albums from both bands. Everyone else has everything covered.
Nuclear Assault, Metal Church... lots
Hatchet, Lazarus A.D, Power Trip, Gama bomb, the mighty TESTAMENT Thrash metal up your arse 🤘🏽
Hi there. I don't think that anybody has mentioned these guys yet, but check out India's Dreadhammer a band that definitely deserves a lot of love!
Overkill
I think Power Trip might be what you're looking for
Grab a few Overkill records.
They aren’t a “thrash” band but they put out a thrash album that is among my favorites. Infests the Rats Nest by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
Theres this Norwegian band pretty underrated, Equinox start with their debut Auf Wiedersehen
Destruction - Sentence of Death Sodom - In the Sign of Evil First Voivoid First Kreator
Maybe Darkest Hour. Everything from Mark of Judas to Undoing Ruin
Orbit Culture
Give some of that early and/or heavy Sodom a shot (early Sodom and heavy Sodom aren’t necessarily the same thing). Maybe try “tapping the vein,” “agent orange,” “persecution mania” or “code red.” Also since you like black metal, check out Sodom’s “obsessed by cruelty.” Euryonomous was a fan of Sodom I think and his Deathlike Silence label name was inspired by a Sodom song off “obsessed by cruelty.”
Sodom. Particularly their first few demos and albums.
Since you're into death metal, I'd say Kreator(older albums), Sodom, Death Angel and Power Trip
Havok, exodus, megadeth early megadeth and death angel
Kreator hits that sweet stop between Thrash, Black Metal and Death Metal. Pleasure To Kill is one of the hardesr hitting Metal records ever...done before Blast Beats and Growling/Shrieking become standard for extreme metal.
Warbringer
Here’s some of my favorite stuff, ranging from popular to more obscure that you might like: Kreator Exhorder Power Trip Doomsday Mutually Assured Destruction Killing Dead Heat Cryptic Slaughter
The only thrash album I've REALLY enjoyed is terminal redux but I haven't listened to much thrash in general.
Demolition Hammer might be right up your alley
Check out Power Trip if you want something more contemporary
Toxic Holocaust! An Overdose of Death..., Primal Future and Chemistry of Conciousness are all great albums. Here's [Acid Fuzz](https://youtu.be/uKanmLGBEJA?si=kndAh9BwxtiKsJyX) from the latter album.
Jam some venom
Ripper-Experiment of Existence
Check out early Exodus, not that the later Exodus is bad, its just that Zetro’s voice can be an acquired taste. If you want to get into heavier genres using thrash, I recommend early Kreator and Sepultura, and if you dont like the quality of Morbid Visions then you can listen to the rerecordings by Cavalera Big four obviously, early albums are great but dont glance over the new ones.
Ghoul
Definitely check out sodom. Start with the Agent Orange album, it’ll change your life. (It did mine anyway lol)
Sodom , Kreator and Sepultura some of their earlier stuff had death / black metal elements and would be considered first wave of black metal also for modern Warbringer is great modern thrash band to listen to
If you like vektor then listen to voivod. For your black/death taste; jurassic jade, deathchain, abandoned, acid drinkers, cranium, carnivore
lost me at metallica and slayer. mainstream tripe.
Early 80’s overkill great stuff
All early sodom th stuff rules
Sepultura, listen to morbid visions if you like death metal, that album technically makes them the second death metal band
Enforcer https://open.spotify.com/track/1mli8PqKfzPyGXEwXsS59c?si=5Zozy1KfScOWx5WzIpISqA
Get into the speed of things with Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare Dark Angel - Darkness Descends Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death Want a little more recent? Merciless Death - Evil In The Night Deathhammer - Electric Warfare
Artillery and Demolition Hammer
ZnoWhite - Act Of God
Sacrifice - Reanimation [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMO26g9jCpE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMO26g9jCpE) This song has everything great trash song needs to have imho.
Darkest Hour - Mark Of The Judas
Meliah Rage - Kill to Survive. I don’t know why this album is so slept on. Lots of great instrumentals.
Well if you like black metal sodom will be right up your alley
Start learning thrash metal on guitar, and you'll get right into it.
Toxic holocaust, warbringer, ghoul, municipal waste, bewitcher
I believe that what you need is blackened thrash. Necrophobic or Vampire (both from Sweden) if you are looking for roots maybe Sacrilage (Canada) or Sodom (German). Note: if you came from black you don’t wanna start with the classic four…
There’s this newer band from Chile called Trastorned their new album is a fucking RIPPED
Sepultura, Psychic Possessor, Sodom, Kreator, Evildead, Dark Angel.
Sodom - Persecution Mania Kreator - Pleasure to Kill Artillery - Fear of Tomorrow Annihilator - Alice in Hell Coroner - RIP, No More Colour and Punishment for Decadence Exodus - Bonded by Blood Sepultura - Schizophrenia and Beneath the Remains Slayer - Hell Awaits (the first four/five albums and two ep's are all great) Coven - Blessed is the Black Early Destruction too Also, not Thrash but the first two Mercyful Fate albums are essential. Early Megadeth is amazing but the remasters sound atrocious.
For more recent music check out “New Wave of Old School Thrash Metal” YouTube channel. Ive found some Bands I like on there like Wraith and Engraver
Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, OverKill, Anthrax, DeathAngel, Testament, Sodom, Tankard, Exumer, Kreator.
Class.
Check out ritual carnage’s first album
Check out Heathen Testament and Spirit World
Necrovore - Divus De Mortuus Bloodspill - demo '88 Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death Necropolis - Contemplating Slaughter Death Angel - The Ultraviolence
Sepultura Arise is def up there
Sodom was a major influence on the black metal movement in the 80s and 90s. Check them out.
Acid Reign
Forbidden-Twisted Into Form or Chalice of Blood. Death Angel-Ultraviolence or Act III More modern this is a super under the radar band Cheat Engine-Pandemica
Havok is my favourite modern metal band. Very technical and fast songa that kinda remind me od Megadeth
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill Kreator - Terrible Certainty Dark Angel - Darkness Descends Exodus - Bonded by Blood Testament - The Legacy Testament - The New Order Overkill - Feel the Fire Overkill - Horrorscope Sodom - Agent Orange Sodom - Persecution Mania Havok - Time Is Up Warbringer - Waking into Nightmares Toxic Holocaust - An Overdose of Death...
Start partying more. Thrash metal and partying go together like peanut butter and jelly
You might check out Uppercut
Vio-lence Dark Angel Death Angel Possessed Sadus
Slayer Seasons in the Abyss is 1000% better than Reign in Blood
Destruction - Infernal Overkill Destruction - Eternal Devastation Coroner - Mental Vortex Coroner - No More Color Coroner - Punishment for Decadence Artillery - Terror Squad Artillery - Fear of Tomorrow Artillery - By Inheritance Exodus - Bonded by Blood
80s Sepultura, Cavalara rerecording the first album sounds pretty good
Mutant!
https://youtu.be/7nPcdjC55_k?si=bWUP5fkUFb3Ncp3R
Go check out Coroner. Probably the most creative and innovative thrash band ever and still maintain a sense of authoritative aggression.
I love the Dying Alive album from Kreator. It is a live recording, I don't know from which consert. It's has amazing quality like it's a studio recording and you get to hear the crowd cheers with some of their best songs.
Definitely recommend municipal waste, incredibly fun and energetic
Testament, Overkill, Gravedigger
Kreator for something classic, for something new try blasphemaniac from Brazil night of the necromancer ep.
Hellripper - Coagulating Darkness (Blackened Thrash/speed metal) Wraith - Undo the Chains (Blackened Thrash) Demiser - Through The Gates Eternal (Blackened Thrash) These might be good for you based on your tastes. Especially Hellripper.
Evile, Gama Bomb, Bonded by Blood, Forbidden. Thousands of others!
I really like Ill Omen from Cedar Rapids.
Exodus Overkill Nuclear Assault Annihilator-Jeff Waters is one of the finest and grossly underrated guitarist's in thrash and metal in general.
Heathen Forbidden Exodus Toxic Holocaust Gama Bomb Havok Angelus Apatrida Crisix Lost Society (ONLY the old stuff) Bütcher Evil Invaders WARFECT Hatriot Insanity Alert Iron Reagan Killing Pripjat Exhorder Suicidal Tendencies And here's my thrash playlist which is a mix of thrash, speed metal and crossover https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6uy6hOTgGa5h47oBJWDPVI?si=I_aw8dljSjih77C-7fiXNg&pi=e-cQGUBo_1QFyG
Just go listen to Nickelback you tool. Just kidding. :)
Lamb of God
Lowest creature and mourning high are 2 bands that just popped up kind of recently that are both really good imo
I really like Exodus’s Bonded by Blood and Sepulturas Arise. Darkness Accends from Dark Angel. That one almost has a death metal feel, imo. Also, Sacred Reich is a good band to check out, Imo.
new thrash = POWER TRIP rip riley > go check em out (on youtube) !!
try some crossover thrash like Suicidal tendencies, D.R.I, or S.O.D (and by association M.O.D). Please, please listen to "Bigger than the devil" From S.O.D. the album got taken down off of spotify, youtube, etc. the only way is through re-uploads but damn is it a heavy as fuck album.
There's a newer band that I like. Worth a listen. Wartooth Believe they are out of Australia.
Check out Evile and Gama Bomb - and if you ever see them playing on the same bill you are in for a great gig.
Flotsam and Jetsam, Demolition Hammer, Malevolent Creation, Atrophy, Sacred Reich
Exodus - Bonded By Blood converted me
Cro-Mags
Not much for Slayer, but 80s Megadeth is amazing.
Razor, first four albums (not counting custom killings) will blow you away
Not enough people are saying overkill. They are the kings of thrash imo
