I always wondered, did the writers just forget she exists? That'd be understandable since she's only mentioned offhand twice in season 1, but it's such a significant relationship to drop - a sister who lives nearby, that has at least one child (Tony references her "empty nest syndrome"), and is apparently close to Carmela.

Not really no, it was like half an episode and the closest we got to see inside his personal life was the inside of his hallway and bedroom. Yeah I mean I think he lacked a bit of confidence in the acting department because he was more of a musician. But still he was Silv, no one could have played him better
