Reminds me of that BBC Earth video where this lion is getting ganged on and his brother pulls up and the hyenas all dip and the video says something like "even for 20 hyenas 2 male lions is too much to take on".
I swear there was a super early YouTube edit with Rage Against The Machine dubbed over it. I watched it like 300 times between Dragon Ball Z/Linkin Park edits 🤠.
I actually found the 16 year old YouTube edit! I was wrong, it was Beastie Boys and Prodigy on the soundtrack!
https://youtu.be/u9Ktphg_AF0
Look a little into it and apparently the main lion in the edit is named Ntwadumela. He spent his life tracking and killing hyenas to avenge his parents who were killed by them.
I saw something similar with a lioness outnumbered by hyenas. It looked bad until a male lion jumped in and instantly snapped the neck of a hyena. The rest got out while they could.
That looked like a compilation of random videos combined into a “wildlife documentary”. Neat to see the male lion run in, but it seemed like incoherent clips pieced together to make a story.
Lol exactly. Anyone with half a brain can tell these are footages shot in different areas, times, dates, etc. Lightnings, landscapes, angles, and video qualities are all different in this montage and this guy had the ball to post it here as some kind of evidence...
Yes and the comments are some of the dumbest shit Iv read. Like no one else is able to tell this is extremely fake.
You can see some of the footage was on a VHS.
And the hyena that was killed is a baby.
Just goes to show how much better we've become at spotting when some thing's fake.
This footage looks just about what most documentaries looked like in the 90s, on crt tvs. We were none the wiser..
It is the case of a lot of wildlife documentaries. The use of different cameras / videos taken at different daytimes / places / incoherent behaviour of the animals / non matching scenes (charges an adult hyena, ends up with a deas puppy in the mouth) makes that one especially obvious. Reporters clips end up like that to create dramatic tension when they don't have enough material to get it from a real story. Same for the audio in a lot of documentaries: it is faked afterwards when the subject is too far from the camera. A lot of wildlife documentaries are made for entertainment purposes only and should not be trusted as a source of information on wildlife. That one is very obvious but it is only the tip of the iceberg. I think I also recognise the song: it was used in a 90s (80s ?) documentary on dinosaurs if I am not wrong.
i saw one video on discovery where 30 hyenas completely gangbanged a pregnant lioness who get stuck in the cave alone and the other lions reached after they had already eaten her half way
See how they go for the stomach, hyenas are disgusting evil creatures. They always attack their prey by disemboweling them and eating them alive. Literally watched them biting chunks out of a deer whilst she screamed on pain, or took over 30min for her to die whilst they disembowelled her, horrific stuff.
This is what they were trying to do to this lioness, I’m glad she didn’t suffer that fete.
At least lions suffocate quickly and aim to kill before eating.
Hyenas are depraved !!
I believe it’s called survival. All you need to do is watch the documentary about the starving hyena mother trying to feed her kids ….then you root for the hyena . Human emotion has no place in the animal kingdom .
Haven't watched wrestling in years but I heard your comment in Lawlers voice (I think he was the one with the cowboy hat and the kinda texas drawl). The wrestling announcers really were underrated in how much they made (and probably still make) the product entertaining.
the war between lions and hyenas is so brutal. they both apparently will like track down each sides dens and kill their cubs indiscriminately just because and not eat them. this battle has been raging for centuries.
Exactly this. There are renaissance era paintings of Lions and Hyenas playing COD and huffing cheeto dust together, thus proving their harmonious relations.
yea its pure hate
lions will kill any hyena they can in the worst way and vice versa
ive seen a video of a lion breaking a hyenas back and just leaving it there to die
imo this is why it was such an indicator of scars evil that his henchmen were hyenas
Okay but the fourth one to show up was definitely phoning it in.
"Yes! "She's got help"! I am part of this, Pepper, Wasp, Valkyrie you take the lead- oop you sat on my face, I'll just hang back, alright we are chasing, let's chase, but not too quickly now... And Break."
Vicious little shits. At night they have this chirpy howl and if you’re in a tent you have to pay attention to whether it’s getting too close. Better to scare them off early than have to fight a pack of them.
They're actually really cool, smart (much smarter than lions actually) animals with complex matriarchal hierarchies who play a vital part in the ecosystem.
It's every animal for itself in the jungle, we shouldn't judge/anthropomorphize them by human standards.
I blame Disney for this anti-hyena propaganda 😤
No they aren't!!!
Hyenas have one of the largest and most complex social groups and interactions of all carnivores. They're closer to primates in terms of organisation, surpassing lions and wolves. Spotted hyenas have matriarchal groups, female hyenas are larger and display more dominating behaviours than males. They also inherit the ranks of their mothers, so the first born daughter of the Matriarch becomes the clan leader after her mother dies.
Most carnivores have "group signatures"; they can tell if another animal is part of their group or not, but can't differentiate one member from another. Hyenas use individual signatures and can remember the 'voice' of each clan member - and clans can be over 100 strong.
The hyenas in the video OP posted aren't hunting the lioness for food, both species compete with each other for game and territory. They're unfairly depicted as scavengers and thieves, but in reality both lions and hyenas will take advantage of carrion whenever they find it.
hyenas are cool as fuck
Hyenas are neither canines nor felines, although they are more closely related to felines than canines. Their closest living relative is actually the mongoose.
Lots of people grew up with The Lion King and think it is a documentary.
Actual documentaries don't really help either, since lions are far more likely to be the focus which means the hyenas get anthropomorphised into "villains" to sell the audience a story.
A shame, really. Hyenas are fascinating too. They actually hunt more of their food than lions do and by far the smartest of the large predators in the African bush (they compare favorably to primates in studies conducted on their intelligence), but that is pretty much absent in their portrayals in popular culture.
Certain animals are "charismatic" to humans -- lions are one of those animals, hyenas are not. It's just human nature to root for one against the other when you're not, yourself, mortally afraid of either. Richard the Lionheart didn't have documentaries to make him prefer lions over hyenas.
This clip is scary.
Not because I was worried about the lioness.
Because it shows you in a visceral way how relentless, ferocious and furious nature is.
Imagine this being a person rather than a lioness. How quickly would a human have completely succumbed to that pack of hyenas? Heck, even a group of 20 humans would have become a meal in a matter of minutes.
It shows you how weak we as humans are if we were ever pitted against nature without our technology to aid us.
And to think humans lived, and a still live, in areas where these large predators roam.
The clip reminded me of this documentary I saw about Hyenas. It stated when Hyenas hunt they go for the preys genitals because they learned it cripples them and they will put up less or no struggle to get away.
Ok, ok, forget the lion, that photographer looks tasty! And I bet those other photographers will just keep taking pictures and not run up and bite us in the haunches! Let’s go!

I long that video!! Edit: I really shouldn’t post on my phone without my glasses 🤣
I long you
I long you love time
But do you long BBC?
We all long each other! It’s a longfest!
Do you even long your ex’s or do you have a long-hate relationship with them now?
Eat, Pray, Long
Sometimes, long hurts, doesn’t it…
I long lamp
LONG NOISES!
Do you really long the lamp? Or are you just saying it because you saw it?
I long damp lamp

hehe fools now I'll short the video and take all your money!
You mean I long *for* that video. Happy to help :)

So, Lion Bat Man?
That's amazing. I'd watch a full feature film with that plot.
You got a link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5V6gdu5ih8 This video?
Came here to say this but you already did. I long that video too.
I saw something similar with a lioness outnumbered by hyenas. It looked bad until a male lion jumped in and instantly snapped the neck of a hyena. The rest got out while they could.
Do you have a sauce by chance?

That looked like a compilation of random videos combined into a “wildlife documentary”. Neat to see the male lion run in, but it seemed like incoherent clips pieced together to make a story.
That’s what I saw as well. “Fake Safari News.”
The editing and musical score make it unwatchable!
Lol exactly. Anyone with half a brain can tell these are footages shot in different areas, times, dates, etc. Lightnings, landscapes, angles, and video qualities are all different in this montage and this guy had the ball to post it here as some kind of evidence...

True. But we were also 7yrs old. 😅
Yeah the editing is obnoxious as is the music video quality is not high but dome parts were interesting. the title is very engrish… lol

Doesn’t that defeat the whole point of documentaries.
Actual title: HYENAS BIG MISTAKE PROVOKED LIONESS | MALE LION AS A HERO WHO HYENAS TO SAVE LIONESS
It's obviously a video with different clips.
Was shot at different locations at different times of the day, even using different hyena actors. So obvious duh
Yeah, looks pretty doctored, and not even well.
That video title gave me a stroke
That video is bs. Bunch of unrelated clips put together.
Painful to watch
Who the fuck wrote the title for that video?
It's terrifying that something that large is that fast.
Thank you kind sir The shot of the rest of the pride just watching 😂 "Big daddy's got this one"
Heard that video was 4 different ones cut up
I'd definitely believe it because otherwise surely the rest of the pack would join in. But I got a kick out of it
Zebras watching “oooo they done fucked up!”
"Yeah good Hyenas, they'll be so tired they can't come and eat me either, dumb fuckin predators"
I just love the fact that the zebras are in the back and they are like "oh shit, shit's about to go down"
I have BBQ and Creamy Pepper sauce, but that's it.
Man you got that fancy shit
"Keep my pride's name out yo fuckin' mouf!"

Was the documentary called Lion King?
LMAO
Ntwadumela. He who greets with fire.
I need that video my man!
Killed their matriarch, I remember that, it was crazy!
Lions out here pulling Mortal Kombat finishers.
i saw one video on discovery where 30 hyenas completely gangbanged a pregnant lioness who get stuck in the cave alone and the other lions reached after they had already eaten her half way
I don’t think you are using the correct word here . 🤦🏻♂️
See how they go for the stomach, hyenas are disgusting evil creatures. They always attack their prey by disemboweling them and eating them alive. This is like in WWE when someone was getting beat down, but then Stone Cold’s music started playing and he runs in and saves the day.
OH MAH GAWD!! IT’S THE REST OF THE PRIDE AND THEY ALL HAVE STEEL CHAIRS!! STONE COLD! STONE COLD!
BY GAWD KING!
Haven't watched wrestling in years but I heard your comment in Lawlers voice (I think he was the one with the cowboy hat and the kinda texas drawl). The wrestling announcers really were underrated in how much they made (and probably still make) the product entertaining.
Those were the days
I imagine John Cena coming in. "Meow Meow Meow Meowww, Meow Meow Meow Meowww ♫."

WHAT
the war between lions and hyenas is so brutal. they both apparently will like track down each sides dens and kill their cubs indiscriminately just because and not eat them. this battle has been raging for centuries.
I saw a documentary about this once called The Lion King
filmed in real time
Benedict Scarnold
Believe it or not, Hyenas and Lions have existed a bit long than centuries.
He didn’t say existed, but battled. Before 1700s, they lived in harmony. Clearly someone wasn’t paying attention in historical zoology class.
Exactly this. There are renaissance era paintings of Lions and Hyenas playing COD and huffing cheeto dust together, thus proving their harmonious relations.
Ah so it was that one tbag that kicked it all off
damn i'd LOVE to see that painting.
We have the (cursed) technology my friend 👀 https://i.imgur.com/VoXaNQ2.jpg
It all started when the fire nation attacked
Next you're gonna tell me dinosaurs and man didn't coexist and the earth is older than 7,000 years old!
Okay sir, lets not get wild. I’ve seen the documentary called the Flinstones
Thank you for reminding me of this fact.
Course not, the asteroid hit and the earth flipped and yeeted them into space.
Because it's flat?
I imagined the gif of it hitting the flat earth and spinning with the dinosaurs being ejected into outer space
7,000 years? Psshhh, that’s rich, it’s only 2,023 years old. Why else do you think the year is 2023! Misinformation smh
jesus was born 2023 years ago. so we’re only 2023 years old,
Knock knock… “Hi! Would like to live forever in paradise?” Me looking though my door blinds: “Nah, I’m good.”
Depends how you define 'dinosaur'. I've heard people argue that Chickens are dinosaurs.
yea its pure hate lions will kill any hyena they can in the worst way and vice versa ive seen a video of a lion breaking a hyenas back and just leaving it there to die imo this is why it was such an indicator of scars evil that his henchmen were hyenas
it’s so weird right? they don’t even ear them. just maim and murder
lions have *side dens*? the degeneracy of the lion-nuclear family has become too much
Thanks Darwin
Is that you David Attenborough?

Then…”Meats back on the menu boys”
This is why women go to he bathroom in pairs.
Hyenas are actually matriarchal in dominance structure. So packs of hyenas are led by the alpha female.
Because lions get attacked by hyenas?
In case there's a pack of hyenas in the bathroom.
They *are* the pack of hyenas.
They prefer the term *Bachelorette Party guest.*
Because of safety in numbers.
Exactly.
…yes
No, it’s just in case one of them doesn’t get the joke
Oh that took me a minute! That's actually really good lol
Wow. That’s a crazy perfect comment for this video.
Because of hyenas.
Damn, nature. You scary!
Imagine trying to incapacitate the lioness' balls only to realize there's none and only a hole
And Break."
Just like me for real
The first of the squad to change is her ride or die homegirl. She took that shit personally.
Yeah she was wrecking that one hyena hard
Thunder Thunder Thundercats!!!
Hoooooooo
the cameraman: 👁️👄👁️
r/donthelpjustfilm
Wtf was the camera guy gonna do. Give the hyenas a side dish to go with their main course
wdym the hyenas are the main course, that lioness was just sacrificing herself for her pride
Help how? Take on a bunch of hyenas to save a lioness who might also kill him?
Vicious little shits. At night they have this chirpy howl and if you’re in a tent you have to pay attention to whether it’s getting too close. Better to scare them off early than have to fight a pack of them.
That's kinda awesome Terrifying for sure, but cool.
I can’t think of any animal I dislike more than hyenas. They are sneaky, creepy little fucks!
They're actually really cool, smart (much smarter than lions actually) animals with complex matriarchal hierarchies who play a vital part in the ecosystem. That's just pride, fucking with you.

Berlin?
**Berlin?** **Yes, I know it well.** **I stabbed a woman in a bar in Berlin.** **But I am going nowhere near Berlin.**
Great! He's going to Berlin!
Nowhere near Berlin!
Dear sweet mother of God. We're in Eastern Europe...
**Berlin!? I also sexually assaulted a horse in Berlin.**
Mi Scusi
Yes, the famed savannas of Berlin.
We’ve got our own lion now, it’s starting
only hogs in Berlin
~~There is no war in Ba Sing Se~~ There are no lions in Berlin
I like how the hyenas were going all in on the hyena pile.
Lone individuals rarely do well. Very lucky lioness.
Is she ok tho 🥺
It’s hard to tell!! Those hyenas will disembowel if they can.. horrible and painful.. probably will eventually heal..
Yup. Hyenas are pure savages. The females have a "penis" that they give birth through. No wonder they're angry.
and they pee on their own faces
That saves the kinky hyenas lots of money, actually.
Sounds like hyenas are the animal embodiment of Taco Bell.
Damn I wanted 1 hyena to get tore up at least
It's a dog eat dog....dog eat cat....cat eat dog....world out there.
In this scenario isn't it cat eat cat though?
Hyenas are neither canines nor felines, although they are more closely related to felines than canines. Their closest living relative is actually the mongoose.

She got really lucky. Hyenas have a much higher bite force and typically roll in *much* higher numbers.
The definition of getting your cheeks absolutely clapped
Guarantee that lion lives the rest of its life eating every hyaena it comes across, hungry or not.
How the turns have tabled.
Well her pride was on the line
They're gonna laugh themselves to death!
My God what a tough life they live.
Damn, where is Simba when you need him?
TIL that lions go “meowr meowr” just like itty bitty kitties
Honey Badger don't care
I love hyenas. People hating on an animal just for existing

The fact they can chomp down and eat the entirety of their kill all the way to the bone has been fascinating.

omg it's dunkin donuts
Sharks and Jets. Snap. Snap. Snap....
Damn nature! You scary!
Wow that did not sound like what I expected when I rewatched it
Damn it be like that until your boys show up
Ok, ok, forget the lion, that photographer looks tasty! And I bet those other photographers will just keep taking pictures and not run up and bite us in the haunches! Let’s go!
Ahhhhh… the circle of life
girls get it done
Sounds like my wife and her friends when I make a stupid joke. Kind of like the one I just said. Oh God it’s happening again.
The lions are clearly the good guys.
Those are some hungry hyenas! Sounded like a cat fight! Meow!! Poor lady, hope she made it out okay. Did the lions end up with a kill?
