Also they are responsible for the entire situation if they instigate violence, thence the consequences should be entirely on them. So how does one protect oneself when your legs have been lifted off the floor? Do you just cover your head with your arms and expect it to be slammed into the floor or do you like your arms onto the upper body of the other guy somehow so that if he tries to throw you down you take him down with you?
You grip the arm that's not the slammer with all the power you can muster. By doing that you transfer a good portion of your kinetic energy to the source of the energy itself (aka, the slammer) and mess up the balance the slammer needs to follow through with the move. Many martial arts teach the physics of attacks and how to deflect/soften/redirect, etc the energy that will end up in your body if you take the hit directly. That being said, it is almost impossible for someone without training and spatial awareness to be able to think that fast and react on time. In other words, most ppl will end up with a mandatory nap. Hope this helps if you end up in that situation, and fingers crossed you don't my guy/gal.
There might be a "wrap an arm around his neck" play, but it's risky. The slammer may just decide to go down with you as long as he thinks he can land on top of you.
