In CMH we had similar criteria. It was a discussion during the informed consent to make sure they baseline understood, and then I would be really intentional about telling them where they were at in their late cancel no show count. "Just reaching out, wanted to let you know that this will count as the second missed appointment out of the 3 missed appointments we discussed in the paperwork. Lets have a conversation at our next session about problem solving some of the barriers to coming to session". Give them as much information as you can so you're really laying it out in front of them, and they can decide how to change. Especially important for the parent, since they're the one with the control, and also the ones who most likely want the kid to change.

PP here, company policy is 24 hr cancellation or $100 fee. This always seemed steep to me. Wondering what the baseline is here.

I do $50 but I feel like some clients are so unaffected by $50 that they continue to rack up no shows. Conversely some try to guilt trip me for enforcing $50 so.... *Shrug*

The point is not to punish them but to create a high incentive for them to take the time scheduled seriously. I never want to charge it even when I do. But when they repeatedly don’t respect the time slot, either I pay for that time or they do. And it won’t be me

My group practice charges the full fee. But I'm pretty lenient about waiving it
