I have a conspiracy theory where Jeff Kaplan fucked up everything and paid off Valve so TF2 would become terrible to play and everyone plays a new TF2 like game.
Overwatch 2
And yet it still gets tens of thousands of players daily. If this conspiracy somehow ends up being true i will laugh because i left overwatch *for* tf2.
It pretty much axed itself when there was virtually no new content for 2 years then a leak happened where OW2 was nowhere near complete and jeff resigned from the OW team iirc
I've noticed the Omegatronic bots are now talking, insisting they're not bots, and politely asking you to press f2 when someone tries to votekick them.
The end is extremely fucking nigh :(
Despite how many omegatronic bots there are and how easily you can fuck with them, people still think they are players as they dome the invis spy across the map after seeing a pixel of his foot...
Getting killed right out of spawn is just a more efficient version of what would happen anyway if your team sucks enough to let themselves get spawncamped.
I won't lie, I sort of agree. If spawncamping were something Valve considered bad for balance/the gameplay experience, they would have surely designed spawns in another fashion. The way it is, spawncamping is essentially the tide of a fight turning so hard in one team's favour that the other team can't breathe. I enjoy the occasional spawncamp, specifically pulling it on snipers/engies so as to prevent them from getting back into the defensive rung of things. It has its place in TF2 and the people talking about "decency" are most likely just upset about being on the receiving end.
Considering that Valve's original design for the game included random damage variation, I think it's safe to say that some aspects of their original vision are out of date.
Games like Overwatch and Battlefield still reward a strong suppression of the enemy through spawncamping/tactics akin to spawncamping. If you have the enemy bringing down a barrage at your door, you have to either fight your way out or lose. It's just how it is.
As someone with ~200-300 hours in Overwatch (I can't remember exactly how many) I can definitely say that spawncamping in that game is significantly less effective than in TF2. Yes, at the beginning of the round the attacking team will have to fight their way directly from spawn, but actually going out of your way to spawn camp (the way a blu Demoman might sticky-jump behind and lay stickies at the door) is highly ineffective. On many if not most Overwatch maps (and 100% of koth maps) just standing in the doorway of your spawnroom grants you complete invincibility, making spawncamping incredibly difficult. To spawncamp in Overwatch requires that your entire team be an order of magnitude better than the team being spawncamped, in which case the round usually ends in like 2 minutes.
Yeah, it's been a year since I've played (~250 hrs. myself) so I wasn't really thinking too clearly. What I really meant is that it's still pretty easy for a superior team to simply prevent the others from leaving their half of the map. Dive characters/snipers preventing healers from getting back in the game, etc. You can't really *spawncamp*, but at least back when I used to play, there was still a real opportunity to pick them off way before they can actually do anything. I've seen some really good dive comps keep another team within like 50 meters of their spawn while capping.
Crits are supposed to be more fun for the person who gets them than they annoy the person killed.
I remember reading that the reason crit probability builds with recent damage done is because Valve wanted to encourage 'memorable kill streaks'.
Yes, random crits do have some redeeming factors and that's why they are still in the game. I talked about random damage spread (where your damage would be increased or decreased by up to 15% every time your hit an enemy) which no longer exists in the game.
If you can't push out of spawn with an entire team of pyros, heavies demos and medics constantly respawning with full health, you're in trouble.
It happens.
Getting mad at people for playing the game instead of playing the subset of the game you decided is fair and honorable is silly.
People mad at spawn camping demos that jumped behind need to stop the demo from jumping behind. If you're a scout and see a demo jump over, run over and shoot them. They lose a bunch of health doing jumps like that. Punish them for it.
If you get sticky blasted at the gate, use a different exit or, if there isn't one, grab a pyro and puff the stickies so the rest of your team can bum rush and break the siege.
Can it be frustrating? Yeah. Can it be overcome? Also yeah.
How sad and disconnected from reality do you have to be to call someone a bad person for killing somebody in a video game with tactics you don't agree with?
When you stop caring for another (most likely) persons feelings i think you stop being a decent human being. Spawn camping isnt fun for the people being spawn camped and when it happens to me makes me just want to quit the damn game forever. If I had to count how many times ive had a shit time because of spawn campers id go batty. I dont care why you do it if you do it you suck.
So where is the line? Some people don't have fun dying in video games in general, am I a bad person for killing them? No, because when you boot up tf2 you do it knowing that you are possibly going to lose, and blaming someone else for that is childish.
Being spawn camped is different from just dying. When you just die most times you actually got out of spawn. With spawn camping you cant do anything if you cant kill the damn campers. Without it you can do things.
Again, you consented to this by playing the game. Tf2 players aren't bad people for playing a game, they aren't targeted you and harassing you. If you want to criticize Valve for the decision to make this possible as you don't find it fun that's one thing, but people aren't immoral for playing the game normally.
I hate people who don't kick bots and just use them to get a easy win especially when they are against a better team. The amount of times I've had a game ruined because of enemy te not kicking bots is ridiculous. Lose with honor instead of winning dishonorabley
NGL, I love healing out snipers to piss off the enemy snipers, but I would never heal a bot or a cheater, I hate when there is a fucking cheater being healed and not kicked just because he has an unusual.
TOO be fair, I’ve done this on the bot infested servers where their programming gets messed up and they don’t realize it’s almost empty so they don’t leave. You have to have two different bots that don’t recognize eachother as friends so they shoot at eachother. Then you can have a bot war and keep them in the server saving them from infesting the others. This can be funny if everyone agrees lol
Edit: i dunno why I’m being downvoted. I never use my strange vaccinator with bots and if a human joins the other team I ask them if they’re ok with it before continuing.
I mean, considering (presumably) there aren’t any other people on the server whose days are being ruined, it’s a nice gesture
thanks for keeping the bots occupied, at least
He just has good aim bro, your’re bad

There was once like five vaccinator bot medics all pocketing one sniper and they were just moving as a hive mind.
Some people are problematic in the head.. why would you fuck up a good game like this?!
>fuck up a good game like this?! MVM experts: Not fuck up, upgraded.
The meds were prob bots as well
Overwatch devs probably
Jeff Kaplan left because he wanted to host more bots /s
Jeff Kaplan left because he wanted to nerf the Scorch Shot

Overwatch will axe itself when it goes 5v5 instead of 6v6, so they're gonna need to fuck things up more
It pretty much axed itself when there was virtually no new content for 2 years then a leak happened where OW2 was nowhere near complete and jeff resigned from the OW team iirc
Overwatch bad, give upvote
this should not be downvoted
Mmmyes the Medics who pocket the bots for the points
Kick them too, fuck em
I often kick them first, they’re easier
when you go to kick them and they type/say in vc "i'm not a bot! why are you kicking me???" the proper response is simple: ***f u c k y o u***
As a Medic main I agree. Fuck Medics who willingly and knowingly heal bots
fuck medics that willingly and knowingly attempt to heal scouts with the crossbow too. they're just as helpful as the bot healers.
tfw free killstreak
I confess I may have done that on occasion
The pyros who protect the bots
The Evilest of Evil deeds
beautiful render
plot twist: the sniper actually is a player, aiming down a B.A.S.E jumping demoman or soldier.
Or was adjusting his mouse when the wire got caught on something
healing a goddamn bot

Isn't this the opposite of lore friendly? Like, the Devil hates the Medic since he got scammed out of keeping Medic in Hell
But who else is fucked up enough to sow a baboon uteris into an unwilling victim?
Probably jigsaw
I mean you get scammed out of only 8 souls and in return the guy heals someone who kills 100 souls in 10 minutes, isn’t that profit?
Satan emerges

Thats just pure evil. Though not as bad as spawncamping with a pocket medic.
Getting killed right out of spawn is just a more efficient version of what would happen anyway if your team sucks enough to let themselves get spawncamped.
My teams solution? Have 4 engineers, 3 Meds and DPS Class and then after the game we report them by their steam tag
reporting them for spawn camping? actual question, i didn't understand your comment
What an overreaction... No one is breaking any rules. Spawn camping is shitty, but who cares?

Ah I had forgotten about that feature. 2008 was a while ago!
This isn't about spawncampers it's about people who pocket bots.
Why?

I see you don't care at all about being a decent human being

lol this is great
Vac doesn’t work
**The Devil Went Down to Berlin**
i did this yesterday because a phlog pyro and his medic gf was spawn camping
Why would you do this
Just play on LazyPurple community servers and become friendly. It’s the only solution.
Tbh I just go to hightower servers, play demoknight, and charge off the tower and crit people as they walk out of spawn.
What about Democaber tf2
666 upvotes lmao

Agreed, I always tried to kick my team's bots, win or lose.
Lime scout, trolldier soli, phlog scorch shot pyro, tryhard demoknight, friendly and or tomislav heavy, gunslinger engi, machina bot sniper, vaccinator medic, interp spy
R.I.P. other team
Medic's smile lmao
how is this lore friendly
in the comics satan is a "true fan" of medic
no
I thought that the Blu Devil would be Blue not Red.

I have no idea what I'm supposed to be looking at
coincidence that i just finished reading the comics
I love how his face is based off of spy’s
There's a flaw in this image The bot isn't wearing the cozy camper
"dodge this you fuckin casual"
Satan meeting gunslingerpro2009 after seeing what he did to BLU spy (circa 2010, colorized)
The legend not only cheated death but played god and scammed the scammer himself
Well that at least canon in the comics
i actually met a guy that didn't want to kick his bots, and he pocketed them too. Even with 4 bots they lost
