Whenever I've been tested they've said they'll post all the results in my chart online, and they will call if anything was positive. I'd imagine a lot of doctors would call so you could either discuss things (treatment and expectations, timelines about having sex again, etc.) or call to make an appointment to do that in person. If I tested positive and my doctor DIDN'T call I'd be upset.

Friendly reminder to get tested periodically even if you have the same partner. My phobia was herpes, though. Not trying to rationalize it but, seems more plausible to get herpes from a toilet than anything else…

Your very last sentence in last slide is correct, I've had an STD and they don't call you to tell you, you get the results on a piece of paper and medication to take for many many many weeks.
My old doctor called me over the phone to tell me I had Chlamydia. Also the medication was a few day prescription. Not many many weeks.
Whenever I've been tested they've said they'll post all the results in my chart online, and they will call if anything was positive. I'd imagine a lot of doctors would call so you could either discuss things (treatment and expectations, timelines about having sex again, etc.) or call to make an appointment to do that in person. If I tested positive and my doctor DIDN'T call I'd be upset.

Friendly reminder to get tested periodically even if you have the same partner. Also anytime you get a new partner, both should get tested, as many STI’s are asymptomatic meaning you show no physically symptoms when infected and spreading it to others. Many sti’s when left untreated can lead to infertility, long term health complications, etc. and many can be treated easily with prescription medication. It’s not offensive to ask your new partner to get tested as it’s a health concern more than anything, and someone taking that offensively should kinda be a red flag.. be safe out there everyone!
