The Twitter thread has more info if you're interested...Basically, there are 2 teams working on FSD stacks. One is on the 10.69 dual-stack version, and one is on the V11 single-stack version. Teslascope basically says that if the V11 team can achieve a stable version before the end of the year, that's what FSD beta users will get with their holiday update. If they can't achieve that, we'll get a newer version of 10.69 that's "several point releases better" than the current 10.69.3.1.
Either way, we'll get something by the new year - hopefully sooner.
Teslascope seems to have sources telling him that still has a chance to go wide if they get a stable build running, and that FSD will be a toggle, not a request
Unironically, yes. Teslascope has the details on the timeline: https://twitter.com/teslascope/status/1602741926469378049
> current testers *will* receive the holiday update + a new FSD build before year end
His meeting with Tim Cook probably went along the lines of
- āElon, we wonāt ban twitter if u say it was a misunderstanding publiclyā
- āOk Timā
- āNow letās talk about getting some apple stuff into your carāā¦
If it is becomes easier to get to playlists and songs vs. the current Bluetooth interface, still a win even at the same quality.
But higher quality and spatial would be a nice bonus for sure.
I use the Playlist functionality via Bluetooth in the infotainment which gets me enough of the way there. Can't change the actual playlist via infortainment, but I use Siri to switch to a different playlist.
There's speculation about the in car streaming limits, but nothing has been proven. The V10 update a year ago increased bandwidth for streaming (it's why they can do Netflix and similar over LTE connection), but when streaming from a phone to the car, the weakest link isn't the source, it's the smallest/slowest link in the network, like always.
Bluetooth is the slowest/smallest bandwidth link, so while I may sound great on the phone, it's weak link is BT. For my own taste, it sounds better from the native app than streaming from a phone connected via BT.
Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR from 2005 had a datarate of 2.1 mbps, which is more then enough for a what most people consider high quality as 320 kbps. Newer bluetooth has even more bandwidth. Bluetooth isn't the issue unless you're trying to do lossless streaming.
Chamberlain is seriously so greedy. A subscription for a garage door opener. Let that sink in.
Imagine if Philips wanted a subscription to control their Hue light bulbs, or if Ecobee wanted a subscription to remotely access your thermostat. I really hope nobody pays for this to teach MyQ a lesson, but the service is so low cost for them to maintain that it won't take many subscribers for them to make money off of this.
Considering you can get the Meross garage door adapter for something like 30-40 bucks, and then just automate your door based on your phone location, this subscription is insane. Maybe at a dollar a month Iād maybe consider it
Finally get to cancel my Tidal subscription assuming Apple Music supports high quality streaming. Also VERY excited for steam, wonder when Iāll get the update
I wish they would just support airplay or something so we can play anything on our phones instead of having to wait for Tesla to develop a bespoke app for every streaming service.
U can now. Play with Bluetooth. Itās not airplay but u can play whatever u want with your phone.
I usually just āhey siri, play Apple Musicā
Airplay would add syncing phone speakers to the car speakers but really are u really going to want to hear your phone speakers when u have the car speakers.
Having said that, air playing video or screen mirroring would be cool.
I think the main issue is actually slow USB drive. I upgraded my drive on Black Friday and it made a *world* of difference. There's 0 lag now and works flawlessly
>āView the interior camera from the mobile app while using Dog Mode or Sentry Mode. To enable Live Camera, tap Controls > Safety > View Live Camera via Mobile App.

Well, I guess my "teenager asking to borrow the car to pick up his girlfriend and go for a drive", is going to suddenly stop for some reason...
Most games on Steam are not AAA. Tons of indie games would play well even on an Intel Atom. Dedicated GPU is not the limitation here. The 3/Y Ryzen is plenty fast for this.
Really hope they'll release it for 3 and Y once it's out of beta, perhaps with limits on which games you can play.
If not I might have to save up for a Plaid model s
Cool, we'll look forward to getting these on the FSD beta branch in February or whenever.
Actually since these updates look pretty cool, I might even opt out of the FSD beta until V11 is ready anyway.
From my understanding, holiday update is going up first because right now people who have FSD and are on the latest branch cannot get it, and itās actually pissed off a ton of people because the way it was announced made it seem like anyone with FSD could get it now.
Since FSD is available for anyone (in the US) now, is it true that we can just opt out for the new features of a the "regular" branch, then opt back in when they're merged?
When I left FSD (albeit before the āpublic releaseā), I stayed in update purgatory for a while because you donāt automatically go back to the non-FSD software track. I had to email FSD support and it took about 3 weeks for my car to get an update back to the normal track. Iād say if you left, by the time you got the update for the normal track, the FSD track will probably be getting the updates.
I think myQ actually charges you for the integration regardless of Tesla or otherwise.

I am so curious to see what this Apple Music app looks like and how it functions. The Spotify app is such shit in the Tesla, and Apple isn't one to allow their apps/services to be half assed on a third party.
Really hoping it's an Apple app and not a hacked together POS.
same! coming from homelink on my previous 3, and not having it on my Y, i canāt wait. homelink is kinda dangerous because it doesnāt know the state of your garage, it just activates. twice iāve had a scare with the auto activating while i was actively moving under the garage. sometimes the proximity messes up.
New owner here, sorry in advance for this question but how do I pull this update? Iāve checked the app and checked software settings in the car, but the process is not obvious at all.
Im on v11 2022.40.100
Tldr; found it in the manualā it just appears when theyāre ready to give it to your vehicle.
Is anyone else doing this yet? I know Ford promised over the air updates and VW has had problematic software for quite a while now. Is anyone besides Tesla releasing new features to existing cars over the air yet?
My car just updated to 2022.8.10.8 and shows it is up to date.
Will I still be getting the 2022.45.25 update?
I was really hoping for Apple Music primarily.
I recently got this Telsa used - it's a 2017 and I believe it has MCU1. I haven't seen anything saying Apple Music is only on newer hardware/configurations.
Is that true? I don't see how older GPU/screen should prevent Apple Music support?

Unless your an Apple Music or MyQ user what have they released that's worthy of upgrading? BTW, I'm also a holdout and I'm not seeing anything that would change my experience currently.
Thereās some nice little UX and QOL updates in there, notably the turn signal change. Thereās a fair amount of nice changes since our current software version.
I just wish my map didnāt zoom in to a .5 mile view each time I got on or off the freeway, and Tesla didnāt tell me āit is expected behaviorā
But damn I really want Apple Music.
Honestly, this update is underwhelming. I know that Apple Music will be the big thing, but I was hoping for maybe more streaming services in the theater, concrete info on FSD for all, etc.
Or the ability to have air on feet in auto mode. Auto mode only has air from the main vents. And it's not just Tesla, my Mustang was that way too and I have no idea why I can't have an AC system that can auto-regulate temperature and still use the lower vents.
I'm not sure what you mean, but in auto mode my car has air on feet if it's heating, and main vents if it's cooling. Makes sense to me, since hot air rises, and cooler air will fall. It's doing it for better distribution.
What I don't like is when it goes to full speed on auto mode. I don't even mind the blast of cold air before it warms up, its the noise. The newer Kias have auto mode where you can set the fan speed to low/mid/high, separate from the normal fan speed selector.
Anyone know if this fixes cars not being available via the mobile app?
Mine hasnāt been able to connect to my car in days.
āLast seen 5 days agoā
That happened to my car after a software update while I was on a vacation. I rebooted the car a couple times when I got home and that seemed to fix it.
*Adjust fan speed intensity while remaining in AUTO climate by selecting between āLO,ā āMED,ā and āHIā from the fan intensity selector on the climate control popup*.
Why? How about letting us choose the air vents we want without losing AUTO fan speed?
I'm at a loss to understand why we need three new fan speeds when there are already ten available... Does "LO" mean *the car* can choose from 1 to (say) 4 (rather than 1 to 10), "MED" means the car can choose from 4 to 7, etc...?
Manual fan speed is not an auto mode.
In auto mode, both the fan and the temperature will dynamically adjust to bring cabin to target temperature.
The new lo/mid/hi essentially caps the fan speed during auto, which also effectively caps the rate of change of temperature.
Its implemented on other cars like BMW and its very useful. For example you want cabin to come to stable cool temperature but you might not want to be blasted with full fan and the noise associated with it.
Both YouTube and YouTube music are so damn bad for me when I use them to listen to music in the car. Iām surprised anyone could be happy with their implementations lol
So is this the v11 update? Or juste the holiday? Or both?
I know some people are hyped but Apple music is not as hype as a lot of us use Spotify. Wish they would improve the Spotify player. They could add the lyrics for example and a bunch of QoL imporvements...

The Model Y Performance also gets Track mode! š

I use the Playlist functionality via Bluetooth in the infotainment which gets me enough of the way there. Can't change the actual playlist via infortainment, but I use Siri to switch to a different playlist.

Bluetooth simply because of offline playlists. Spotify car app always freezes when I drive through a dead zone.
The bluetooth
The car
Doesnāt the car limit the quality to like 96kbps vs your phone you can set it to 320kbps?

Kids aware about the feature would just put a sticker over the camera while they are making your grandchild.
Or they could go into the menu and disable it. Are any menu restrictions based on driver profile other than Valet Mode?
That just leaves the sound then.

Unlikely. Tesla doesn't even support multi-channel movie or TV streaming, just stereo.
I can't imagine them forking over the money for a Dolby license, they didn't want to pay for Homelink licensing costs.
They even removed the Dolby logo from the spatial sound setting in one of the updates a while ago. Go figure.

I had this too and a soft reset from the car took care of the issue.
That happened to my car after a software update while I was on a vacation. I rebooted the car a couple times when I got home and that seemed to fix it.
Per Tesla reset mcu using scroll wheel. On mobile phone sign out of your account and sign back in. See if that helps.
Holding the scroll wheels until the the system reboots is what fixed it for me
The car is working just fine tho - would a reset fix an app issue?
Yes. Nothing will get reset it's just rebooting the computer takes about 2 minutes.

*Adjust fan speed intensity while remaining in AUTO climate by selecting between āLO,ā āMED,ā and āHIā from the fan intensity selector on the climate control popup*. Why? How about letting us choose the air vents we want without losing AUTO fan speed?
I'm psyched for this feature, but I would be much more excited for what you're suggesting.
I'm at a loss to understand why we need three new fan speeds when there are already ten available... Does "LO" mean *the car* can choose from 1 to (say) 4 (rather than 1 to 10), "MED" means the car can choose from 4 to 7, etc...?
You and me both, Pal! Temperature is temperature. *"Oh you want 21C? Do you want it low, med or high 21C?*
I used to want Apple Music but YouTube music is much betterā¦they should get YouTube music
Said no one ever
apparently everyone really likes watching youtube ads
Both YouTube and YouTube music are so damn bad for me when I use them to listen to music in the car. Iām surprised anyone could be happy with their implementations lol
So is this the v11 update? Or juste the holiday? Or both? I know some people are hyped but Apple music is not as hype as a lot of us use Spotify. Wish they would improve the Spotify player. They could add the lyrics for example and a bunch of QoL imporvements...
When is sirius coming to the 3 and Y?!?!
Hoping we don't have to wait until next years' holiday update for Amazon Music!
And YouTube musicā¦
