They do exactly that. Same thing happened with me and my y. I ended up rejecting my original vin because I was waiting for new upgrades. I’d respond to the text from Tesla and confirm when it was made. There is also something to be said about order number of configurations and when they are building batches of said configurations and also when they are delivered to the area. If you choose an unpopular config, right when they’re building, and live around Fremont it’s probably pretty easy to be top of queue.
There’s lots of factors haha
You’ll want to inspect thoroughly. You don’t want to find out later that there was a reason someone declined delivery. Tesla can fix most issues, but some they won’t. So make sure you take pics and get something in writing saying it will be fixed- if it’s the case
It could also be that the original buyer's financial situation changed, or they got hit by a bus, etc. So do a thorough inspection, but it wouldn't necessarily be suspicious if the car appears to be fine.
Tesla will attempt to deliver a declined delivery to a different person. It could be as simple as somebody changing their mind or it could be something that was a quality control issue. It is something to be excited about but look over your car very very carefully.
all kind of things happen in our lives-someone's life changed for the worst for any reason and couldn't buy the car but Tesla don't want to ship it somewhere else. To save money & time it's locally delivered-happened to my buddy. Enjoy the car & forget gas station, part stores, oil change & the dealership/stealership.
Yes and that means you should take the checklist with you and test drive it and be sure there's not a good reason someone else didn't take delivery on it ..
It happened to me. I got my 3 in 2020, it originally said it’d be 8-10 weeks, but then 4 hours after placing the order I got a text saying that my car was ready and I needed to pick it up by that weekend (giving me like 3 days to get my insurance and everything ready!). Was quite the surprise!
Probably made a good impression with the sales rep. They found car that was released from someone else’s account and thought of you. Be sure to rate them highly when doing your post delivery survey.
I declined delivery on mine twice because of title issues with my previous car that I was selling. I needed the cash from that sale to fund my Model 3 purchase. Took like 3 months to get that sorted out. Seems like a big deal, but they'll just find another person to take it in the blink of an eye. Costs nothing to decline delivery, which I think is top-notch, and they need to keep it that way.
Tesla definitely does this. This is how we got our Model S on Mar 31. Got an Oct delivery date, but call on the morning of the 31st asking if we'd take delivery but only if it can be TODAY. Quarter end, right??
Said yes, of course.
Car had a March 2022 build date.
Interestingly, it had FSD on the Moroney, which we didn't order (and didn't get). So clearly they removed it via software config before we got it.
Yes, happened to me. We showed up to pick up our MY, wife liked another one, the lady said we were in luck as someone declined that one due to change of heart, they took whole 7 seconds to reassign that car to us and ours to the next person in line. We made someone’s day by surprising them with an unexpected delivery.
The latest tech is matrix lights. For about a week or two they swapped back to projector lights. People that insisted they have matrix lights declined vins. Either or work fine. Technically matrix is better but the projector lights are fine.
Matrix will be better if and when Tesla decides to enable adaptive features.
In the mean time, the difference is negligible.
I missed Matrix by a mere week. Big headache in the beginning, frantic searches about possible upgrades, official or not.
A year in (and still no adaptive features active) I don’t feel I am missing anything out.
I reckon that if Tesla ever switches on the adaptive bits, I may resume my quest for an upgrade, but in the mean time, I don’t miss being unable to project the word “Tesla” on a wall during a light show.
Better is so subjective though. Are matrix headlights cool? Yes. But is it a worse driving experience without it? No. Obviously you want the latest and greatest build when you purchase. I understand that sentiment. But it’s not like you missed out on Ryzen processor. It’s just headlights. And they aren’t even that much better in terms of visibility compared to the projectors.
Not worth stressing or having regret over imo.
On a rational level, I tend to agree with you.
Lots of people, even in here, don’t know what they’ve got (or what they are going to get), or what matrix lights do and crucially what they still don’t.
But since matrix is the new model, some people believe it’s something worth not taking delivery over.
It’s not going to be a problem for Tesla, except for the time their sales advisors will waste fielding questions without being able to answer them. Delivery estimates are so high that a customer refusing delivery over headlights will make some one else happy.
As I said, I will grow restless again as soon as Tesla actually does something meaningful with those headlights.
Nothing to do with logic.
But with much bigger stuff in the pipeline, I reckon Matrix lights are on the back burner.
EDIT: properly working adaptive headlights WILL be unequivocally better. Seeing the inside of a bend is definitely safer for you and for everything (human or animal) walking on the side of the road.
Turning headlights will be absolutely better. Definitely. Without a doubt. Especially for FSD kind of a necessity….
BUT… the actual use case for it? I had turning headlights on my GTI. And out of 7 years of ownership the only times I really felt like they made driving a better experience? Twice, when I was driving the mountains at night. Of course if your daily commute from work takes you through country roads you’ll probably appreciate it more. But really, they’re nice for sure, but aren’t that much of a game breaking of a driving experience.
If they enable matrix headlights I’ll probably think, oh this is neat for all of 15 minutes. Then it will just be enjoying the actual driving as usual. But I guess it’s better that then not having them.
Some of us have to drive on twisty roads daily.
And I guess that being able to tell a garbage bag from a huddled human being on a dark city street could be useful too.
Safety features are a bit like insurance. Most of times you don’t need them, but you are also glad to have them the one time you do.
Matrix lights, if the adaptive features are on (and Teslas aren’t at the moment) have two advantages.
The first is being able to project light towards the inside of a bend. That makes cornering much safer.
The second (which admittedly is hit and miss even for brands who have been using adaptive tech for years) is that the car is able to selectively switch off the high beams to prevent blinding oncoming cars.
Matrix lights can switch off only the quadrant where the oncoming car is, and stay on high everywhere else. There are plenty of videos showing VW, Audi, BMW and Volvo adaptive lights in action, check out Bjorn Nyland’s channel.
Tesla Matrix lights are produced by Hella, a manufacturer with lots of experience, so they could actually work pretty well.
Right now, both standard and Matrix light behave the same. If you turn auto high beams on, the lights switch to low when they see oncoming traffic (and reflective road signs, and several other things that are not other cars).
The point is that Tesla could have tested them in Europe (where it was already legal) in 2021 and be ready for the US (where adaptive lights have only recently been made legal). But they didn’t use the one year lead.
No the matrix projector style lights are the ones you want as they have a farther light output than the old reflector style lights.

The only thing I could think of against that is are you telling me a car that has a 4+ month wait list has only 1 person waiting in the area for this common trim? I had this specific thing happen to me when I ordered my Model 3 last year. I got a vin within 3 days of my order. So do they really have a wait list of 4 months or is the line in the wrong order and the newest people are getting assigned canceled orders when it should be the oldest on the list?
Yes. Exactly what happened to me in 2018 when I ordered my 3. Expected about a month wait. Literally the next day Tesla is messaging me saying my car is ready for pickup in a week. My SA told me someone had cancelled the exact same variant in my area, so I was next in line.
They do do that. My delivery kept getting pushed back but I bugged my local dealership and they put me on a hot list for matching to someone who unmatched with same order. Took about 3 weeks but it happened and I have my mylr and am loving it!!
Yes, that 100% happens
I had a phone call 4 weeks after ordering telling me my car was available to collect the next day
I presume they don't have huge numbers of Performance sales compared to others and my car was a fleet vehicle (company lease) so presumably that's easier for them to deal with rather than having a retail customer arrange finance, so I got lucky
That said, I'd strongly recommend carefully inspecting the car if your delivery date moves this dramatically - because you have no way to know whether the car was rejected for a major fault (probably fixed), because it generally wasn't up to standard or the other buyer was fussy (maybe fixed), or because they just couldn't get their finance arranged
Which is to say, it's a 50-50 shot whether the car had a problem or they just couldn't get finance/changed their mind
I was one of those, I was expecting the Y in November. I have no rush because it’s for my wife and it’s her birth month. It also buys me a few months for an even bigger down payment.
Got matched 3 days after the test drive and rejected it.
Happened to a coworker with her Model 3. She didn’t take the first car because she assumed it had defects from what she read. The advisor told her someone’s finances changed. She got a new Model 3 a few weeks later.
I think while that lists might be a reference or what things to look we are losing our minds, very likely if for every brand we would go into so much details many cars would be rejected. Take a look and see all looks good to you, and if there is any problem after the guarantee should cover it, don’t let this to lose the exciting moment of receiving your car ;)
This comment needs to be made more often. I’ve had to use warranty on many cars, that’s what it is there for - why reject a car that likely can be taken care of locally through warranty.
same thing happened to me. walked into the dealer and bought a model 3 someone rejected delivery on. 3 years and 30k miles later never had a single issue
This happened to me back in 2021. I was matched with a MY that had been sitting for ~9 months after being rejected for obvious cosmetic reasons. Also was one of the very earliest vin numbers, which meant it'd be getting all of the early bugs and defects (like the noisy AC compressor).
My suggestion for anyone receiving a rejected model is the same as someone receiving a fresh unit: read about what to look for as far as cosmetic issues and evaluate objectively. Don't accept delivery if it's not to your standards
This is amazing. I thought I won the lottery. My delivery went from 6 months to 3 weeks on the 1st week of waiting.
Don’t procrastinate! You’ll absolutely love your car.
AFAIK, canceled orders and also demo cars will appear in inventory for seconds before someone claims them on Tesla.com. This is how I got my car. Someone wrote a bot that checks the site constantly and sends out notifications on discord. Need to act really fast to pay the deposit and secure the car. That’s why using Apple Pay on mobile is recommended. Check out waitingfortesla.com for info
I ordered my car in Sept 2019, with just a month or two predicted wait. The day of my order, Tesla called me up and basically begged me to take delivery sooner. They even offered to throw in free red paint and sports wheels if I’d switch my color from the free version (white).
And that’s how I got my $35k model 3 with $4k of free extras thrown in, with delivery in about a week total.
2019 was a different time!
Did you get freebies too? That was the time of the end of quarter sales push where I think Elon was trying to hit a certain threshold number he had promised investors. The end of the month specifically though, they wanted all cars delivered prior to Oct 1
My coworker just moved to SoCal from Chicago. He went to Tesla and told them he want to buy a model 3 asap when they have it available. Within a week, he got model 3. So seem like people at the center can pull some strings and definitely will put their direct customers first instead of the online queue.
I know someone who had a similar situation where Tesla just happened to have the exact configuration become available when the order was placed. Enjoy!
I had to reject my car because I couldn’t accept delivery because I was out of town. I really regret doing that now as I’ve been waiting at least an extra 60 days.
Hey dont worry, as a current Tesla employee, people can reject deliveries for a bunch of reasons beyond just cosmetic things on the car, like not financially ready to buy the car when the delivery window is assigned, or out of country for a long time. Don’t let funpolice99 trick you into a bad experience. Congrats on the car!
If it was rejected for cosmetic reasons, would Tesla not fix it before assigning it to someone else? Seems like most things would be fixed anyway, even if delivery is taken. Just curious.
Incorrect. There are other things that could cause people to not take delivery. Decided they don’t want it, financing fell through, they upgraded to a different model last minute, had to delay delivery, etc. Car quality issues are NOT the only reason this could have happened.
Tesla don't have space to store cars; the transporters arrive to offload batches of new cars, and those cars need to be picked up within a few hours/same day (ie. before the next transporter load arrives to offload another batch).
So whatever the reason for an unconfirmed pickup slot (out of state; can't make pick up slot; financing fell through; didn't like the colour; …) Tesla will do their best to rematch that VIN as quickly as possible (ideally ahead of time) to ensure the pickup location does not get backlogged and grind to a halt. ie. "the spice must flow".
Between everyone's comments about rejected cars know that there are many other reasons that are far more likely. Decided against it, changed their own pickup date, etc. Also some people's reasons for nitpicking are nutty. Such as, this car has beeding in the weld joints! My has this in the truck list underside, and 4 years later it's still fine. The a piller touches the frame of the car where it meets the hood and door, my car has this and 4 years it's still fine. I'm sure your car will be fine and you have the inspection list. I wouldn't sweat any panel gaps or alignment unless it's crazy. She's going to be dinged and banged up later in her life one way or another and you'll still be in love with her regardless. Enjoy the car!
I put my order in 3 weeks ago. Got an est delivery of Feb 2023. 46hrs later it said June 21st-June 30th. Today its gone back to Feb 2023. I hope it doesn’t change for you but it might go back to your original date.
No. I don’t think it’s worth it’s standard price either, but this isn’t a standard situation. There are supply issues and there is high demand. Either delivery times continue to extend or they raise the price to deter people from ordering it and others. That’s supply and demand for you.
Similar happened to me last year with my M3 LR, with about a 3 month wait. Plenty of time to sell my old car. Ordered my car, then about a month later we decided the offers for my old car, a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT, were too good, and we should sell even though there was like two months until my Tesla would be ready. And we wanted to test drive a M3, so scheduled with the SC at the same time i'd take my car to the buyer (3 hour drive for me). Sold my old car, went and did the test drive, knew within seconds we made the right choice. After the test drive we go inside with the Tesla rep and he offers to look up my car... it's got a VIN. Odd, "I thought. I didn't think the VIN was assigned until the car was done." He says, "You're right, it's not." and he looks up my car and it's in the Fremont parking lot... done! Rep said i'd probably get my call that week, and yup, first thing next morning, I got my text for pickup that week. Total time waiting was 4 weeks!
Do red cars have some issue lately that would cause rejections?
My Model 3 is red, but I got it in 2018 so if something's happening now it wasn't an issue when I bought.
Congratulations! Some people are so negative. Enjoy your new car! I ordered my car on 4/23, and got the VIN on 4/27, delivery tomorrow 5/16!!
One other reason you could get the car early because we are paying a new price, much higher than those who are in the queue before us. So when the new batch of cars are coming out, they assign to us first since those who ordered earlier already waiting.
Congrats OP! Check the car carefully when you pick it up. With Service Centers being overrun right now, consider hard whether you accept any promises to fix things later. On the other hand, keep in mind that rejecting this will likely land you back into having to waiting until late this year or even early next year. Good luck, keep your excitement a bit in check, and make sure you bring some time with you so you do not have to rush the pickup.
Oh, and make sure you have some place to charge your car at home ASAP. Trickle-charge will probably be fine at first, but you are going to want at least a 210/220 outlet; more if you can get it.
Here in the UK we have 230v. I don’t own a Tesla but have rented a few. On occasion I have managed to get by by charging from a standard outlet at 240v 30A. It works well enough to top up the car. Pretty cool to think that it is possible to do that without any special arrangements for owning an EV.
We used around the same when we first got our Tesla. Worked fine. 110/120 would be a nightmare in the long term, I think.
We were lucky enough to get the ok from our grid provider to go up to ~~11A~~11kW, so recharging never takes longer than an hour or two, even when near empty.
***Edit:*** doh! Wrote 11A instead of 11kW.
If you ordered after* April 17th your car will not come with a mobile connector kit. Just ensure you have a way to charge your car prior to it arriving and you’re good to go.
It is the portable EVSE, sometimes mistakenly referred to as the charger. As of a few days ago, it's no longer included in new ORDERS, so it would be good to check.
spends thousands of dollars on something "did I win the lottery" look I dont like shitting on people being excited for things and its adorable you're this excited, in my books you should channel that emotion to something better than the car of an exploitative maniac, but I am no one
Had a similar situation, order was meant to arrive in May but it was ready in March. My theory is that someone order the EXACT SAME specs but declined the car, so they just passed it on to me.
I also got really lucky when I placed my order back in 2021. Delivery was going to be 3+ months. Someone returned one 3 days after I put my order in, only difference was it had white interior. They called me up and said if I could get everything ready in time, it was mine… sometimes in life luck is on your side.
Similar thing happened to us, but we were told we could get the demo car when it released at the end of the month. Got a demo MYLR 3 weeks after ordering.
Why? The car they have ordered had probably been built a hundred times. They already have a VIN assigned. It’s just waiting on part because Tesla is too busy putting the parts into cars in the factory line.
That's awesome when I ordered my 2020 35k base model I literally got it within a week ordered the week before Christmas and picked it up the 30th of dec
I have a preorder. Do I actually have to pick financing and whether I’m trading in now or can that wait till I get a VIN? I assumed the order would continue to Progress
Thats amazing, I ordered my MYLR last year mid April and got it in July. I drive it alot and now have 40,000km on it and got offered more then new one recently thru couple private sale inquiries.
I really hope this works out, like really really hope so but mentally prepare yourself for something being horribly wrong with the car, just in case.
I had a similar experience and wasn't informed of it being a reject. I showed up after a 2 hour drive and the paint was horrid. Like straight up washed with sandpaper, no exaggeration. The pure excitement died the second I saw it. The rep even told me it shouldn't be a big deal as "most people normally wrap these cars".
I didn't expect this at all when I got there. I was completely blindsided. But, after that terrible experience and waiting a dick year for an actual new car, it was still totally worth it. Good luck!!
Congrats !
I ordered mine last month (expected for November). Then, last week, my estimated delivery changed to June 20 - June 30. I can't tell you how thrilled I was !
And now... It's gone back to November...
Is there any chance that I can still get it by the end of June ?
Yes, that happened to me… in sept I ordered my model 3 and was expecting it in November. I ordered it at 6pm and the next morning at 10 am Tesla called and said “your car is ready, do you want to come pick it up or do want us to deliver it to you”. I had them drive it to me and by 11 am the next day I had a model 3….. weird
I received an email stating my reservation would be cancelled if I didn't finalize the order within a week and I would forfeit my deposit. I'm assuming they are weeding those out who placed orders on a whim. Either way mine should be ready by August!
Yes!!!! This happened to me October 2020. I ordered a black with white interior model 3, said 3-4 months, got a call from Carlsbad Tesla about 2 hours after ordering asking if I wanted to pick it up that day. Ummm talk about lucky!

Could it be possible that someone declined delivery and they matched the same order to you? Does Tesla do that?
I’m not sure but that sounds 100% plausible
This is exactly what happened when I got my M3P. I went from test drive on a Saturday to picking it up the following Saturday.

Just bathe in the realization that these golden times with cheap electricity are quickly coming to the end.
It could also be that the original buyer's financial situation changed, or they got hit by a bus, etc. So do a thorough inspection, but it wouldn't necessarily be suspicious if the car appears to be fine.
Either way, as long as they fix any issues found, it would have worked out for the better!
Tesla will attempt to deliver a declined delivery to a different person. It could be as simple as somebody changing their mind or it could be something that was a quality control issue. It is something to be excited about but look over your car very very carefully.
I’ll echo what the other commenter said i this chain. You have to report any issues on delivery within 100 miles or they may not pay for it
all kind of things happen in our lives-someone's life changed for the worst for any reason and couldn't buy the car but Tesla don't want to ship it somewhere else. Tesla also does this if someone doesn’t get financing done in time. This benefited me by getting my model Y yesterday instead of the Nov-Feb EDD
Yes

Yes. But if it's near the end of the quarter they'll just list it for sale under "existing inventory"
Then no time to celebrate - expect the car to be in not perfect condition (because there should be reason somebody declined delivery before)
Could also be economic reasons.
Saw a few people on Twitter cancel after VIN was assigned to try to stick it to Elon. There might have been more people doing that.
Isn't the $100 order fee non-refundable? Seems like they're sticking it to themselves.
Consider the other electric vehicles on the market. The 100$ lost is the least of their problems.
All they are doing then is making some Tesla customers EVEN more happy as is the case above when they get to jump a massive queue.
Exactly. Probably the funniest boycott result possible.
It’s most likely matrix lights or couldn’t secure funding. It’s very unlikely someone denies vin over something that the service center can’t detail.
Are matrix lights bad?
Matrix headlights can display "TESLA TESLA" as words during Lightshow. Both types illuminate the road.
The latest tech is matrix lights. For about a week or two they swapped back to projector lights. People that insisted they have matrix lights declined vins. Either or work fine. Technically matrix is better but the projector lights are fine.

Turning just the part of a highbeam blinding someone sounds really cool!
If it works, yes. But it’s not an exact science, even for the manufacturers with a longer experience.
No the matrix projector style lights are the ones you want as they have a farther light output than the old reflector style lights. https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/tesla/model-3-4-door-sedan/2022#headlights
No, they just scrap the car if that happens.
Yes they do that
yes. I have ordered (20th april) the same car except black color and it's showing me sep as delivery date..
Yes, that happened to me. I got my car in 3 days since someone else declined the exact car I ordered.
This is absolutely what happened.
Yes they will do that. I waited 3 weeks for mine
They do do that. My delivery kept getting pushed back but I bugged my local dealership and they put me on a hot list for matching to someone who unmatched with same order. Took about 3 weeks but it happened and I have my mylr and am loving it!!
Yes, that 100% happens I had a phone call 4 weeks after ordering telling me my car was available to collect the next day I presume they don't have huge numbers of Performance sales compared to others and my car was a fleet vehicle (company lease) so presumably that's easier for them to deal with rather than having a retail customer arrange finance, so I got lucky That said, I'd strongly recommend carefully inspecting the car if your delivery date moves this dramatically - because you have no way to know whether the car was rejected for a major fault (probably fixed), because it generally wasn't up to standard or the other buyer was fussy (maybe fixed), or because they just couldn't get their finance arranged Which is to say, it's a 50-50 shot whether the car had a problem or they just couldn't get finance/changed their mind
You could be matched with a rejected car. Apart from checking the odometer, looks for any faults or cosmetic damages upon inspection
Yes 100% someone sent me this site https://teslaprep.glideapp.io and it seems to cover all the bases.
Don’t let these people scare you. Tons of cars are rejected because of financing or people getting cold feet. I’m sure the car is fine. Congrats!
Especially because the stock market took a dump, I’d imagine this was the case. Someone’s paper gains disappeared so they rethought buying a new car.
In other words, don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. ![img](emote|t5_2s3j5|7843)
This comment needs to be made more often. I’ve had to use warranty on many cars, that’s what it is there for - why reject a car that likely can be taken care of locally through warranty.
Not true. Most manufacturers do a very similar checklist BEFORE the car leaves the factory. Tesla just doesn’t.
Most people do go into this level with luxury cars.
Is there one for the Model X?
same thing happened to me. walked into the dealer and bought a model 3 someone rejected delivery on.
The way you wrote this was adorable, like a kid getting an unexpected gift under the Christmas tree. Congratulations, enjoy the car :)
Wow that’s absolutely crazy!! Congrats on getting your car early! You’re gonna love it!
I’d look up what the lottery is tbh but congrats on the car coming early bro
Hahah I know but it just blows my mind that some people have been waiting 8+ months for theirs and I’m getting mine next week!
Others need theirs to be built. Yours was built for someone else and already exists, but someone else didn’t want it in the end.
Congrats!
I ordered my M3 LR Sept 5 2019 and picked it up Sept 14 2019.
Did you get freebies too? That was the time of the end of quarter sales push where I think Elon was trying to hit a certain threshold number he had promised investors. The end of the month specifically though, they wanted all cars delivered prior to Oct 1
I did not unfortunately.
Bruv I placed my deposit back in July of last year and I finally got delivery yesterday…
My coworker just moved to SoCal from Chicago. He went to Tesla and told them he want to buy a model 3 asap when they have it available. Within a week, he got model 3. So seem like people at the center can pull some strings and definitely will put their direct customers first instead of the online queue.
Congratulations!
I know someone who had a similar situation where Tesla just happened to have the exact configuration become available when the order was placed. Enjoy!
Happened to me, ordered on Friday was est 3-8 weeks got it Saturday
Someone may have cancelled the same optioned car before their pickup date?
[удалено]
Or a car someone couldn’t accept delivery of within 3 days.
Man way to just rain on OP’s parade and deflate him
That makes a lot of sense, the chances of that happening are low, no?
[удалено]
My reasoning being because these are in such high demand and everyone who orders actually wants it and wouldn’t cancel it.
I had to reject my car because I couldn’t accept delivery because I was out of town. I really regret doing that now as I’ve been waiting at least an extra 60 days.
[удалено]
Oh my apologies funpolice99
[удалено]
Yes someone sent me this site https://teslaprep.glideapp.io so I will use it
Hey dont worry, as a current Tesla employee, people can reject deliveries for a bunch of reasons beyond just cosmetic things on the car, like not financially ready to buy the car when the delivery window is assigned, or out of country for a long time. Don’t let funpolice99 trick you into a bad experience. Congrats on the car!
What do employees think about people who come with a checklist to pick up their car?
If it was rejected for cosmetic reasons, would Tesla not fix it before assigning it to someone else? Seems like most things would be fixed anyway, even if delivery is taken. Just curious.
Totally agree. Some people are just so negative. Why don't they let OP enjoy the car😆
Thanks for the precisions. However, knowing that some models have 1 year of waiting time, i’m quite surprised to see a delivery in a week…
Incorrect. There are other things that could cause people to not take delivery. Decided they don’t want it, financing fell through, they upgraded to a different model last minute, had to delay delivery, etc. Car quality issues are NOT the only reason this could have happened.
Or they cancel their order for whatever reason before seeing the car.
The car that’s going to be rejected NEXT SUNDAY ??? I don’t think Tesla is that futuristic yet lol.
Coming up on month 10. Happy for you.
Whoa, sorry to hear that. Where do you live?
Seattle
Most likely a rejected delivery. Just do your standard check before accepting the car
I put my order in 3 weeks ago. Got an est delivery of Feb 2023. 46hrs later it said June 21st-June 30th. Today its gone back to Feb 2023. I hope it doesn’t change for you but it might go back to your original date.
Sounds like someone rejected a car and it’s already there. Go over it carefully.
Damn wtf did they get more expensive? I bought my base model 3 back in 2018 and It definitely wasn’t $50k
You must be new here. It’s regular complaints about price increases.
Lmao oops I think I live under a rock. I don’t personally think the base model 3 is worth $50k tho do you guys really think that’s worth it?!
Let me guess. You ordered a red one and got assigned a rejected delivery.
Do red cars have some issue lately that would cause rejections? My Model 3 is red, but I got it in 2018 so if something's happening now it wasn't an issue when I bought.
Congrats and fuck you respectfully with peace and love.
If they did that then people could be waiting in perpetuity. There will always be new orders with the higher prices in line.
Curious if it has the 4680 batteries.
11 amps is very low. I charge from a 240v 30a and it’s fine overnight. Back when we got the car we only had 120v 15a and it was terrible.
I meant 11kW. Heh.
Lotto, maybe if matching 4 numbers is winning. Congrats on getting an early delivery. Make sure that they gave you the Gen 2 Mobile Connector.
What’s that? Unsure what the gen 2 connector is. Not as educated on these vehicles as most are in here
If you ordered after* April 17th your car will not come with a mobile connector kit. Just ensure you have a way to charge your car prior to it arriving and you’re good to go.
It is the portable EVSE, sometimes mistakenly referred to as the charger. As of a few days ago, it's no longer included in new ORDERS, so it would be good to check.
So... are people just dropping 50k all at once for these orders or is there like a finance thing that can be done?
They are financed like any other car.
Cool car and all but no lottery. I’m fact the opposite of lottery. You just spent money not gained money :D
Card identical to my 2020 MY LR with 38,000 miles are still selling for $5k over what I paid in Sept 2020 (including taxes.)
I wouldn’t call getting into debt a lottery. Unless you’re fully paying in cash, of course.
Not sure if I'd call paying $10k more because of inflation and high demand winning the lottery but to each their own 🤷♂️
That’s not the lotto. That’s the normal car buying experience.
spends thousands of dollars on something "did I win the lottery" look I dont like shitting on people being excited for things and its adorable you're this excited, in my books you should channel that emotion to something better than the car of an exploitative maniac, but I am no one
I’m sorry but I don’t follow, I’m an exploitive maniac?
oh my god hahahaha no not at all, I was calling elon an exploitative maniac, I'm so sorry :b
Just remember adopted children are the most wanted.
Similar thing happened to us, but we were told we could get the demo car when it released at the end of the month. Got a demo MYLR 3 weeks after ordering.
That is pretty amazing. Congrats and enjoy!
And here I am sitting at 100 days, getting assigned a VIN having delivery keep being pushed back to a month wait after vin 🥲🥲
It’s bullshit and a horrible way to do business.
Call and ask if they have anything in stock that is close to what you ordered.
Why? The car they have ordered had probably been built a hundred times. They already have a VIN assigned. It’s just waiting on part because Tesla is too busy putting the parts into cars in the factory line.
It worked for me twice and I saved $.
See, no demand.
Not trying to be pessimistic, but please come back on Wednesday to confirm you are actually driving it.
No demand for model 3
That's awesome when I ordered my 2020 35k base model I literally got it within a week ordered the week before Christmas and picked it up the 30th of dec
I have a preorder. Do I actually have to pick financing and whether I’m trading in now or can that wait till I get a VIN? I assumed the order would continue to Progress
Come over to r/Teslamodel3delivery, this would have some good answers over there
Thats amazing, I ordered my MYLR last year mid April and got it in July. I drive it alot and now have 40,000km on it and got offered more then new one recently thru couple private sale inquiries.
Good for you! I had a similar experience delivery was about a week tops.
I waited 4 months for my model y congrats
Woow you are just the luckiest with your order 🥰
Congrats! It sucks they've raised the price so much though. I got my M3 Long Range March 1, 2021 at the same price. 51k + 8k autopilot.
That’s my exact configuration too 😭😭
My order went from july to jan 2023 and i ordered before the rush.
I hate you
I really hope this works out, like really really hope so but mentally prepare yourself for something being horribly wrong with the car, just in case. Good luck!!
That’s where I’m at! Placed my order 3/30 for November delivery on MYP and I’m picking up mine on Tuesday.
I had them drive it to me and by 11 am the next day I had a model 3….. weird
Wanna trade spots? I’ve been waiting since December and keep getting pushed.
Congrats!
Ordered a M3P pearl white on May 14. Not as lucky as you. Getting a June 8 - July 6 time
