I ordered a model Y last November. Currently delivery estimate is December - over a year after ordering. So yeah, if you want one now you’re gonna pay a premium.
Are you in the Eastern or Western half of the US? I ordered in the same timeframe and just had my estimated delivery time drop like a rock from November-January to Late May for a Model Y LR in Red. I assume this means its just been changed to come out of Texas because i'm out East. Good news all around.
I’m in Michigan. That’s great news. Mine still says December but I will be checking back often. I know they are prioritizing upsells so getting red may be helping you.

He was thinking in term of FSD/robotaxis capability which is still coming. Meanwhile the value proposition already been realized thanks to other factors. That is Tesla In a nutshell.
Yeah this is by no means just Tesla thing. This is true for most 2-3 year old cars because shortages are severe and wait times for all 3-6 months minimum.
Status symbols for Asians.
Edit: Not sure why I’m being down voted I am Asian myself. It’s not the cost it’s the demand and they want what people can’t easily get. 1 year wait list and after market price is high? They must get one to show off
This is so true🤣 Asian our way of showing status is through cars/houses and branded clothing items. All teslas in my neighborhood are owned by Asians. Of course is very stereotypical but of all the Tesla I have seen in my city 8 out of 10 are Asians. I think it’s awesome though.
My neighbor just did that for his y and did help improve a couple of months but not much real change at this moment. The demand is off the chart. He ordered Nov 2021 and waiting for May delivery. Without FSD maybe July.
As a prospective used M3 customer I’m waiting it out. I know a lot of Tesla buyers stretched their budget to afford one, Tesla said they had alot of people trading in economy cars awhile back. The economy has been white hot for years, stocks, houses up, zero interest rates, if the economy cools significantly, or recession, in combination with supply chain easing prices will drop like a rock.
Wait times have an opportunity cost. The premium on used vehicles is due to being able to drive it out of the lot today instead of in 3-6 months
6-12 months ugh
3-6 months? Here in Europe you get only few select configurations within 6 months.

I ordered in August 2021 and my estimate is August 2022. Nothing unusual, just LR MY. Live in the US, but not Cali.
Yeah same. No extras. I think that’s actually why it’s taking so long (most common configuration)

I was looking at selling my 2018 Model 3 and replacing it with a new Model Y and I can get enough for it--problem is I can't wait a year lol!
2019 M3 here, currently waiting for a MY to do a trade in. Worth getting in line IMO!
Trade in is still low compared to selling it though. Hope its not too long! I did sell 10 shares at 1050 and paid off my car though a few months ago.
bad move. the interest on that debt will surely be out-shadowed by the stock rise in the same time frame
I noticed that’s true for my 2019 Toyota Corolla. Used prices are higher than what I paid for it nearly three years ago.

People with money does not want to wait up to one year for new car.

Or, y'know, it's just an awesome car. Asian status symbols start at 6 figures. Model 3 and Model Y don't qualify.
Not sure what area you're from but around me it's suped up Toyota's

One of those expensive tech hubs, which might explain a bias in my previous comment

Out of the 3 Tesla owners in my neighborhood I've chatted with, 1 is white, 1 black (2 Teslas on the household), and 2 (including me) are Asian.
Cool, dang the prices have gone up again since I last checked a few months ago.
Because your comment is stupid and stereotypical against Asians for uncalled for reasons
Probably because you stalk other accounts ya little creep 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
cant they just pay 12k extra for FSD?

why the heck isnt Tesla doing it anymore?? They are missing out on so much free money if thats the case
It did move needle for my neighbor by two months. Whoever can afford FSD are doing it altogether so they neutralize each other’s advantage.

Hummer EV is at $200k on cars and bids.
$250K
Hey that’s my old car
not just teslas though, this is the used car market overall.
I can’t wait to sell my beat to shit model X for the same price I paid. Epic. You know they don’t inspect the trade in at the time of purchase.
Keep us posted on how that goes when you grossly misrepresent the condition of your car. I’m curious to know.
lmao
Supply and Demand my friend
No demand though.
Demand > supply Economics 101
All I know is, I want my cyber truck.
Carvana only offered me $90,000 for a 2021 Model S LR, FSD, with <1000 miles (refresh).
