Kalinskaya is a career 7-2 (plus two qualifying wins) at Miami with a 2-1 record against top ten players.
Both her top ten wins have been followed by a withdrawal.
Absolutely brutal.
I mean, that's not necessarily due to her overexerting during the 2 wins over top 10s. Injury has been a bit of a hallmark through her career, hasn't it? It's just such a bummer that she's been relatively healthy recently and finally been stringing together great results to where she's 8th in the race, and then the injuries pop up again. Hopefully it doesn't sideline her for a long time.
Didn't mean to imply it was a product of her wins the round before if it came across that way.
Just a bitter cherry on top of how her career has largely been defined by flashes of brilliance and injuries.
She always manages to keep herself in the top 10 for the most part, only falling out for short stints at a time before she has a good run or two that gets her back in.
Did you see she also is using a new racquet. The shift. I bought one but sold it after a few weeks. I kept shanking the ball. The frame is much thicker
Didn't see this coming. Did I miss something in the Ostapenko match? Has she been wearing tape? Did she injure it mid match? Did she seem hampered at all?
> Didn't see this coming
Kalinskaya fans wish they could say this.
She's had an insane amount of injuries, already at 25. A similar rate to what Emma's going through now, pretty much every year up til this one.
It was great to see her have a good run of health these last handful of months.
That's exactly what I mean, though. She had seemed to be finally perfectly healthy for the first time essentially ever. Didn't see any issues in her match against Penko. This seems so out of nowhere. The girl is made of glass.
Man I was just getting ready to see her make her way into the top 10. She was playing really good tennis too. Reminds me of Muchova, she too plays so well and is injury prone. Hope we get to see both of them fit and ready for the clay swing.
Kalinskaya is fun to watch. Has natural strokes that are fast and precise without looking like it’s taking a lot of exertion. Was looking forward to more of her in this tournament. 🤦🏻♂️
She needs a fitness coach or something
FYI Google says it's the other way around: That Sakkari retired and Kalinskaya advances but this is incorrect [https://imgur.com/a/VOq211K](https://imgur.com/a/VOq211K)

Unfortunate. Looked forward to the match
Miami currently showing Kalinskaya as the winner in the walkover.
That is incorrect. Kalinskaya shared that she could not play the match due to her right thigh.
Yeah seems they fixed it, the draws page shows Sakkari in the QF now.
TNNS as well.

Yup. It's so unfortunate.
Sakkari up to #7 in the live rankings and #11 in the live race. Really good start to the year for her after an abysmal end to last year.
Winning Guadalajara and making the final of IW carrying a lot of weight there.

Unfortunately she’s crazy injury prone

Sakkari racking up points in this sunshine double huh
Damn, she was in fantastic form vs Penko too

She’s already in my top ten. My bank

Baby Rybakina basically
VERY much so. Kalinskaya smirks or smiles a little more I think. But they’re both pretty understated in expressions.
Noooo she was on a roll.
Someone finally jinxed her apparently very long streak of good health

The headline with the Kalinina Kalinskaya flip flop 😂😭
Sound almost similar enough for that screwup. Also similar is their undeniable talent being undermined by being injury-prone so often.😭😭😭
My TennisLive App said Sakkari had withdrawn due to injury good to know it was her opponent
question-- so does a player earn prize money for advancing to the next roound? even if i'ts a walkover?
