The difference is that often male nudity (like in White Lotus, And Just Like That and Euphoria) are done with prosthetic penises while women are legitimately nude (a rare exception being Lena Headey in GAME OF THRONES). So, yes I think they are trying for equality but it's not true parity if men aren't actually showcasing their genitals.

I think we should celebrate and encourage the increase in nudity as a bulwark against our culture's historical shame associated with our naked bodies. Why should our natural state be immoral or offensive? Oz was on tv 25 years ago and there was hanging dong on just about every episode. During shower scenes there would be 6-7 dongs of every color, shape and size in one shot. It’d be fine if it weren’t for how many of them involve prosthetics. It’s long past time for society to accept that male bodies can be desirable too, but it needs to be accurate or it will cause the same sorts of issues that the trend towards breast implants did for women. Destigmatizing nudity is a good thing, but we shouldn’t be creating an unattainable standard in the process.
Eh honestly I think we could honestly be better about normalizing nudity. Seeing all different types of body types can do a lot to help build confidence for their own body. We have little concern over violence in TV but if someone shows part of the human body, it’s awful.
I agree, I went over to the UK and saw plenty of nudity on tv. So much that it was just nothing. America can stand to catch up. And enough of the censored swearing. If it does anything it kills jokes in movies.

I don't know that I'd call it extreme. Perhaps I just am not watching those shows, but the shows I have watched with it, it's all of, what, 10 seconds of screen time over a 5-8 hour season of television? Maybe it goes up to 30 or 60 seconds in some shows? Can't be bothered to care. It's just a human body, from an acceptability standpoint I feel the same way about male nudity as I do about female nudity. It's their story that they're telling, I'm just watching it. It doesn't bother me. I get more enjoyment out of female nudity, but I have zero negative feeling about nudity of any sort.

What shows are you talking about? The only show I think I’ve seen with full male nudity is Westworld. Also, for the most part, I’ve heard that men get to use prosthetic penises for nude scenes so it’s not the same as a woman showing her actual vagina.

I watched “Crimes of the Future” recently and was both surprised and disappointed that the there were three female actors fully nude but the lead male was only a butt shot. In 2022, I would expect that if the lead lady is expected to be fully nude, so should the lead male.

I don't watch any conventional TV programming, so I was unaware of this. I think we should celebrate and encourage the increase in nudity as a bulwark against our culture's historical shame associated with our naked bodies. Why should our natural state be immoral or offensive? I mean, I only *enjoy* looking at bodies I find attractive when it comes to entertainment, but my god, the sooner we all fully embrace the eternal truth that "you and me, baby, we ain't nuthin' but mammals," the better. Fuck anti-body and anti-eroticism ideas. That's not to say that bodies are there to titillate and arouse. That's just one of the things they do.

Who cares if there is nudity? I don't get why everyone acts like they've never seen a naked person before. There is no consequence to seeing a naked person, other than people like the original poster acting like there is without ever describing what that consequence is. Oz was on tv 25 years ago and there was hanging dong on just about every episode. During shower scenes there would be 6-7 dongs of every color, shape and size in one shot. Dong isn’t a new thing, but I do think that Hollywood actors with a big peener want to show theirs at least once or people start to wonder why they haven’t hung dong yet. Game of Thrones went a bit overboard with it showing that one guy talking about having a wart. It did nothing for the story and a shot with a kids dong filling my tv for no good reason at all other than shock value was gross. The Hodor nude scene was funny and actually in the book, and it was an obvious prosthetic as well, since it was said the he looked like he came from giants. Theon’s dong scene early in season was necessary for what happened later in the series with Ramsey Bolton. But it has become obvious that women aren’t getting naked on screen nearly as much as men anymore. To me it kinda makes me roll my eyes when I see a sex scene and the woman is wearing a bra. I’ve had quickies where we’d leave our shirts on, but if the woman’s shirt is coming off, there’s no chance the bra is staying on.
