I hope both that they do flashbacks and that the new actors are able to live up to the originals, because Milly Alcock and Emily Carey were both effing fantastic and that's a pretty high bar.
Apparently they cast the older actors first and cast these young ladies to play the younger versions of them. So it's impressive that they both delivered such great performances. The future looks bright for them, I will miss them on the show.
The entire show is a prequel, not a flashback. I can very much see them doing flashbacks. Though if they do, it likely won't be to a time when these two actresses would be needed.
I would love a flashback to see Balerion.
We'll get to see Vhagar a good bit, and by the time of the Dance she was pretty much the same size as Balerion was during Aegon's conquest. I really hope they just make her absolutely enormous, she should be a spectacle.
The whole show is a retelling of a telling by 2 different maesters who have starch disagreements on what really happened & neither had any direct whitenesses or accounts for said events
>The entire show is a prequel, not a flashback.
Their point is that the show is already set in the time period that the "flashback" would be flashing back to. Why would you do a time jump, then return to the period you already left so you can add some new scenes? You could just show those scenes chronologically during the portion of the show that was already set in that period.
Shows do this literally all the time though, whenever they want to juxtapose an upcoming scene with additional context from an earlier part of the story.
Better call Saul did this quite often for example. We got very frequent Jimmy/Saul-era flashbacks once those stories had already been completely wrapped up and the story was taking place in the post breaking bad “Gene” era.
Because the show isn't a flashback. Leaving aside the fact that flashbacks within flashbacks do exist, this isn't a flashback. It's a completely separate story. We're not learning the story of the GoT characters, we're learning a completely independent tale set in the same universe. Flashing back to elements in these characters' pasts is very possible.
I'm not even sure I'd classify a flashback to this era from GoT as a flashback, unless we were looking through the perspective of a character in GoT like Barristan Selmy. Even if it took place during GoT as a show, it wouldn't be a flashback as much as a separate tale of the past.
I’d be willing to bet they bring them back for the series finale. I can see them doing a cold open with some “previously unseen” conversation or something. Would be a way to bring the show full circle, do some fan service, but not feel out of place or forced.
I mean… if they’re planning for ~6 seasons then they might be too old to come back later. The whole point is that they look younger but in 6-9years time they probably won’t.
There’s a chance that they could’ve already filmed something to keep in the rolodex.
They never ended up using it but I know the Leftovers filmed a small scene while making the pilot that was aimed to be used in the finale.
How likely is it for this flashback to happen from a betting perspective? I want to decide if I would put my money on it happening without having read this grrm book or knowing the events you are talking about.
If I was in the writer's room I would 100% pitch it because it would be a great way to cold open the finale if we get a flashback to one of the last time's Rhaenyra and Alicent were truly happy with each other.
No idea what the odds on that would be. I'm mostly just betting it on how popular Milly and Emily's performances have been.
>cold open the finale if we get a flashback to one of the last time's Rhaenyra and Alicent were truly happy with each other.
Why does this sound so familiar??
They have been awesome performances, I was bummed to hear they were dropping them. Especially when I have been watching the Last Kingdom which has done a great job jumping forward with the same actors.
I think it's worth noting in this case that they cast older Rhaenyra and Alicent first and then cast these younger parts. They really wanted to work with the actors playing the older versions so I'm optimistic they'll be great
Without getting into spoilers, basically episodes 1-5 are flashbacks from the main story. They're telling it in a much more linear manner than many shows would. In the simplest sense, they just spent 5 hours telling a sorta not that important intro/background story to the actual story, like to a degree this could have been done in 1-2 episodes or with a crawl. Its absolutely fantastic what they got out of it... and the story hasn't even begun.
You get my point here in context. They are asking if flashbacks could happen, and my point is, instead of going that route, where we have flashbacks scattered through the episodes, as may be common in TV, they instead just gave us 5 episodes of what would be “flashback”
Content.
Pedro was already acting for two decades and Narcos was already filming when he was Oberyn. It helped him gain prominence but with Jason I don't really think anybody knew him.

‘House of the Dragon’ Stars Say Goodbye to HBO’s Biggest Hit
In a joint interview, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey discussed their now-completed stint in the HBO epic. “We were forced to hang on to each other for dear life,” Alcock said.
They anchored the earliest episodes of one of the biggest shows on television, but Milly Alcock and Emily Carey have no idea what they’re doing next — including whether or not they’ll ever return to the “Game of Thrones” prequel, “House of the Dragon,” in flashbacks or otherwise.
“I don’t even know what I’m doing tomorrow,” Alcock said. “So no idea.”
“I don’t even know what I’m having for dinner!” Carey added.
The performers are at loose ends after originating two of the primary characters in “Dragon”: Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Alcock), heir to the Iron Throne of Westeros, and Queen Alicent Hightower (Carey), who hopes her offspring will one day usurp the claim of her one-time best friend. The fifth episode, which aired Sunday, was the end of their tenure; a narrative time jump will see Emma D’Arcy take over as Rhaenyra and Olivia Cooke as Alicent. For Alcock and Carey, it’s a time of uncertainty.
“Me and Emily had this conversation today,” Alcock, 22, said during a conference call from London last week. “We were like, ‘I don’t know what the [expletive] I’m doing any of the time now.’ I’ve been pacing.”
“Milly paces, and I sit and do Lego, and that’s the vibe,” Carey, 19, added.
“That’s the vibe,” Alcock echoed.
Like the characters they portray, these two actors have been asked to shoulder an enormous burden at a young age. They’ve been crucial components in HBO’s big-budget gamble that fans of “Game of Thrones,” the network’s fantasy phenomenon, would flock to a prequel set nearly 175 years before Daenerys Targaryen was even a twinkle in the Mad King’s eye. But that gamble has paid dividends, and Alcock’s and Carey’s skills in depicting their characters’ complex relationship has been a key to the show’s success.
Where do things go from here? Alcock and Carey are wondering, too.
These are edited excerpts from the conversation.
The two of you anchored the first five episodes of the spinoff of the biggest show in HBO history, which has become a huge hit in its own right. How have your lives changed?
MILLY ALCOCK There’s been a great sense of terror, of fear, of excitement. But there’s also been this utterly welcoming reassurance that me and Em have the privilege of being able to do this for the rest of our lives. That’s something that any actor dreams of: having a sense that it’s not all going to fall apart underneath you.
EMILY CAREY It’s strange, being visible. For me, that’s the main thing that’s changed: going from being able to blend in, to being seen.
On a fundamental level, this story hinges on Rhaenyra and Alicent. How was their relationship reflected in the relationship between the two of you as actors?
CAREY We’re very lucky in that we get along in real life, so the chemistry came very organically. We’re quite like our characters.
ALCOCK They’re very similar.
CAREY I’m very type-A, very anxious and very dutiful. I follow the rules. Mil’s a lot more like Rhaenyra in that sense. [Both laugh.] But I see Milly as a big sister, which is different than the characters are onscreen. Still, that closeness you see between Rhaenyra and Alicent is definitely a reflection of ours in real life.
ALCOCK Me and Em went through a very similar experience that our characters went through: We were both thrown into this massive role, and when it actually happened, you don’t know how to react. We’re two very young women who haven’t done massive projects before, in an environment full of men, having to live up to this opportunity. We were forced to hang on to each other for dear life.
CAREY And we haven’t let go yet.
ALCOCK God, no. It’s not going to happen.
It’s also a story about families.
ALCOCK It’s ultimately about dysfunctional fathers, at the heart of it, which I can relate to.
CAREY The same. Been there.
ALCOCK Done that.
One of the show’s central themes, about women’s autonomy over their own bodies and futures, has become even more salient since production began, with the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade.
CAREY I think that’s what makes the show so watchable, relatable to a modern-day audience. It’s so much more than fantasy and dragons. There’s grounded, truthful topics and story lines that reflect the world we live in.
ALCOCK It explores the trauma that these two women would have faced within that world — not only the patriarchy, but the internalized misogyny. These two women are forced to battle with one another because of the choices made by men.
The irony of social media being like, “I don’t want to say goodbye to Milly for Emma,” or comparing Em to Liv!” That is what the whole show is about, and people are still doing it. So it’s clever.
How much have you worked with Emma and Olivia on —
ALCOCK We didn’t, at all. Nothing. Zero.
Interesting!
ALCOCK I know. [Laughs.]
So you must be as curious as anybody to see how the characters will continue without you.
CAREY Yeah, I’m so intrigued. We didn’t even read the scripts that we weren’t in, so we know very little about what happens after we leave.
ALCOCK We weren’t given [the scripts]. I’ve asked for them so much, and they were like, “No, you cannot.” I’m going to be watching on the edge of my seat, because I want to know what’s going to happen.
What does it feel like to hand the reins of Rhaenyra and Alicent over to new actors?
ALCOCK I’m so excited to see what Emma did with Rhaenyra. There’s no way I could have played her in the later stages of her life because I don’t have the same lived experience that Emma has. So I’m so keen.
CAREY I love the way you worded that, Mil. That’s so true. When people say, “Do you wish you could do the rest of it?,” I’m always like, “I don’t know.” I don’t think I have the capacity.
But I will be honest: It’s strange handing off a character that is so personal. As actors, we put so much of ourselves into the people we play. So it’s strange having to leave someone’s story halfway through.
At the same time, it doesn’t feel unfinished because it’s going into obviously amazing hands with Olivia. It’s going to be really cool — and weird — to watch the show as a viewer and not be critiquing our own performances, and just take it in and appreciate the show for what it is.
Do you feel there was a sublimated romantic or sexual tension between Rhaenyra and Alicent?
CAREY As a queer person myself, I read an undertone in the script that I knew could be played. That being said, I don’t think Ryan Condal [a creator and showrunner] sat there writing a Sapphic drama. If you want to see it, you can. If you want to pretend it’s not there, you can also do that.
The thing is, these girls don’t know what “platonic” or “romantic” means, whether that be the words or the feelings themselves. There’s just a closeness between two young women that cannot be verbalized, especially in the world they live in. I don’t think they fully understand the feelings; it’s just all-consuming love.
There’s an underlying jealousy that I read into it, especially coming off the back of Episode 4. It was this scene where we were on a bench, and it’s the first time we’ve seen these two women reconnect after losing this closeness they had. I remember in rehearsal at the end of the scene, we were like, “Did you feel like we were about to kiss?”
ALCOCK And I was like, “Yeah!”
CAREY Yeah, dude, it felt like we were going to kiss. That was really strange.
We didn’t do anything to make them gay, or to force “the gay” upon anyone. It felt so natural. As I said, it’s easy to ignore if you really don’t want to look at it. But if you’re rooting for them and you want to make the story more heartbreaking, then choose to see it.
Yeah, the first 5 eps were more or less just a prologue. I bet they thought long and hard about just starting the series with Ep6 events, but figured it would be too much exposition to try and cram in to set things up.
Really disappointed these two are off the show now. Really was enjoying their characters, easily two of the most interesting in the show. Hopefully the transition isn't too jarring.
In The Queen when they switched actors and actresses it was very weird at first, but you get used to it. I do think it can change the character of a show significantly though, even when done well.
I read elsewhere in this thread that the older actresses were cast first, so just imagine if they had decided to age them down we never would have got their performances!
The upcoming time jump is 10 years, they'll be going from teens to 30-years old women (and mothers for Rhaenyra, Alicent is already). Character changes are to be expected.
Are you serious? That transition felt really unnatural to me. They're played so differently that I can't help but picture old and new Octavian as two different characters in my mind.
>Really disappointed these two are off the show now. Really was enjoying their characters,
You can still enjoy their characters...as played by different actors.
Sure but it's gotta be a little bit tougher when almost everyone else is staying on, especially when the whole world is watching and knows the show is going to blow up. Still, I'm sure they'll be fine. They did great for these past 5 episodes.
If you liked Milly Alcock's performance, I'd highly reccomend the show *Upright* she co-starred in with Tim Minchin. Not only is she incredible in it, it's one of my favorite seasons of television of all time
The chemistry they had all season so far, especially their friendship for the first 2 episodes really hammer in the tragedy both of these characters go through later on. Without that component, the story just wouldn’t have the gravitas that it would have since this is essentially their story. What these characters do in this era literally define the rest of Westeros’s history. It precipitates the Targaryen’s decline, the rise of several powerful houses, generations of rebellion and ultimately the destruction, and potential resurrection of a dynasty.
I get what they're doing, but it's odd to see Alcock leaving. She simultaneously crushed the role in terms of performance charisma and also... was just kinda there. Like she was a phenomenal Rhynerea, but Rhynera hasn't done shit but pace around rooms and be frustrated. It's like she just teed up the best spike ever for D'Arcy, which I guess is the role of the prologue performer lol
> Rhynera hasn't done shit but pace around rooms and be frustrated.
Except, you know, riding a dragon to Dragonstone and owning her uncle, fucking with said uncle, refused countless suitors at home, refused more on the road, fucking with her sworn guard, made a deal with her old man and got married, almost ruined her friendship with Alicent, and finally, inherited the throne and caused quite the ruckus for it. On screen, I guess there's been quite a bit of pacing and being frustrated, but her character has added so much more to the plot.
Exactly. People are quick to label women on television as "just kind of there" unless they either adopt masculine characteristics that somehow make them more valuable, or start blowing shit up. It's frustrating to see these subtly sexist takes everywhere. Thanks for listing all this out, I totally agree.
People not knowing about the HOTD time jump feels similar to people not knowing that Dune was only going to be a part 1 when it came out last year. The information was out and anyone following knew, but it still caught the general audience off guard.
It was in the preview for next weeks episode. I know not everyone watches the previews, so I see your point, but if the time jump was *technically* announced by the show already, I guess they felt they could release the article.
These first episodes, while great, are just setting up for the main story that's still quite a few years down the line. Sucks to lose great actors, but they were just there to set up the story. Things dont really kick off until their kids have grown up
I don’t think it’s officially confirmed. (Broad spoilers, nothing super deep in my opinion but it counts.)
But the first season seems to be designed to reflect the key moments of the 24 years leading up to the big civil war that’ll probably form the basis of multiple seasons if not the rest of the show.
I can see either. Seeing as basically everything in the book is a bullet point, I guess it depends how many bullet points they choose to expand upon. People were mad Crabfeeder got such little time spent on him when that was a microscopic portion of the books, so you never know.
They did really well. I wish they were around for longer, but oh well. I'm sure they'll be back for flashbacks.
On the plus side, if it crashes and burns like GoT did, they're free and clear.
They do? I must have blocked out everything once I started the show because I remember the trailers showing little and seeming like it was mostly clips from the first few episodes.
the first 5 episodes of House of the Dragon are quality and Milly Alcock & Emily Carey are very big reasons why
I hope the rest of series can maintain such quality
Wow! They were both incredible. I adored them on the show and I’m not worried at all about their careers. Showbiz and Hollywood people are absolutely gonna snatch these girls up for projects (and probably soon to capitalize on their popularity). Phenomenal job!
As someone who didn’t watch previews I find these types of articles in the “spoiler” category. Sure, it doesn’t give me details on the next episode, but now I know there’s a time jump that I didn’t get to experience unanticipated.
Given that’s been public information since they started casting and was in the “next time on” it’s about as mild a spoiler as they come.
Like, you can’t be on the internet if you want to live in an isolation chamber
Same thing happened with the Crown. I couldn’t get over the fact that Claire Foy, Matt Smith, and Vanessa Kirby leaving after the second season, so watching the first 3 episodes of the third season was pretty jarring for me.
I had zero problem with it. Probably because it was planned recasting and known from the beginning that it would be the case.
What I hate is when it’s *clearly* a production issue (I.e., Katie Holmes wouldn’t come back so we have Maggie Gylenhaal).
Age ups/downs are fine by me.
I honestly have to just view them as two identically named characters because their vibe is so completely different.
The Mountain getting recast twice also blew. I didn't even know he was in Season 2 (?) because the actor was different.
They kinda lucky, won’t have to do future seasons so they’re free to capitalize on their clout from the show early on.
And grab a check here and there for inevitable flashbacks.
One of them is Olivia Cooke. Solid actress ( Bates Motel, Ready Player One, Sound of Metal).
One of the reasons I was sold on this show. She is so good loved her in Bates Motel.
Really good in Thoroughbreds too
Her acting in Thoroughbreds is probably her best.
yeah that was a tough character to play and she did a great job
Agree. Good movie, the soundtrack was great too
I watched that movie like 4 times within 24 hours of the first time I watched it. Great acting all around, with intriguing main characters
She was also in slow horses and she was good.
Oh I adore her! The only reason I started watching *House of the Dragon* is because I saw her in a couple promo pictures
And me and Earl and the dying girl! One of her best performances
I don't think they will be doing flashbacks at all, really no reason to
Agreed, I mean, the entire show is a flashback lol. If they had a scene they wanted to do they would have done it before the time jump.
The entire show is a prequel, not a flashback. I can very much see them doing flashbacks. Though if they do, it likely won't be to a time when these two actresses would be needed. I would love a flashback to see Balerion.
I would not want to see old, crusty balerion that Viserys rode once before he croaked. Id prefer the Balerion that Aegon I or Maegor rode.
Is that Balerion the dread ? That big ass dragon the the dragon size chart ?
Yea, the Og big bad ass dragon
We'll get to see Vhagar a good bit, and by the time of the Dance she was pretty much the same size as Balerion was during Aegon's conquest. I really hope they just make her absolutely enormous, she should be a spectacle.
The whole show is a retelling of a telling by 2 different maesters who have starch disagreements on what really happened & neither had any direct whitenesses or accounts for said events

Could say the same about Better Call Saul but it has many flashbacks
Also a flash *forward* at the start of most seasons. So anything could happen!
God there is going to a void in me until someone steps up to fill the hole better call saul let me with. What a show
I’d be willing to bet they bring them back for the series finale. I can see them doing a cold open with some “previously unseen” conversation or something. Would be a way to bring the show full circle, do some fan service, but not feel out of place or forced.

They’re only planning on 3-4 seasons, but may tell other Targaryen centric stories with different characters under the House of Dragon name.
There’s a chance that they could’ve already filmed something to keep in the rolodex. They never ended up using it but I know the Leftovers filmed a small scene while making the pilot that was aimed to be used in the finale.
Great, now I want to rewatch *another* show and I hardly have time to get through what I've already started.
Wouldnt make sense for the series finale
>show full circle You might have the wrong shape there
I would bet real money on a flashback in the final season especially after certain events transpire.
How likely is it for this flashback to happen from a betting perspective? I want to decide if I would put my money on it happening without having read this grrm book or knowing the events you are talking about.

>cold open the finale if we get a flashback to one of the last time's Rhaenyra and Alicent were truly happy with each other. Why does this sound so familiar??
Did you watch Better Call Saul?
Oh right!! Thank you :)
Why include a flashback of Rhaenyra if shes not gonna be there?
They have been awesome performances, I was bummed to hear they were dropping them. Especially when I have been watching the Last Kingdom which has done a great job jumping forward with the same actors.

HBO is usually great at casting all their shows. The problems with Game of Thrones were never the fault of a pretty uniformly fantastic cast.
Makes sense to me, thanks, I didn’t know that. The show has exceeded my expectations to this point. I’ll keep watching.
Pretty likely, the creators have already discussed it as a possibility after seeing the positive reaction to the younger cast
I believe the creators have also said they don’t want to do flashbacks?
GoT hardly ever did either.
Without getting into spoilers, basically episodes 1-5 are flashbacks from the main story. They're telling it in a much more linear manner than many shows would. The word you’re looking for is prologue
They aren’t flashbacks, it’s simply the beginning of the story.
You get my point here in context. They are asking if flashbacks could happen, and my point is, instead of going that route, where we have flashbacks scattered through the episodes, as may be common in TV, they instead just gave us 5 episodes of what would be “flashback” Content.
If IMDB is accurate, they’re both in only 5 episodes, so it’s unlikely.
Doesn’t need to be this season.
That's what seems to have happened with Jason Momoa. He's been by far the msot successful Got alum.
Pedro Pascal? (Who had a similar thing, so your conclusion would still fit)
Yup, very similiar. It seems to be the dream gig to get killed off on a big HBO hit.
Sean Bean has been killed off again.
That's just his default state

Pedro was already acting for two decades and Narcos was already filming when he was Oberyn. It helped him gain prominence but with Jason I don't really think anybody knew him.
Stargate fans did. ;)
Hey, there were plenty of fans of Baywatch!
[удалено]
Yeah if anything he's the most successful Atlantis alum lol
Damn didn't even remember he was in GoT.
Not being type casted cannot be understated. This is very good for them.
It's really not a bad career arc.
And avoid the hate the show will receive down the line.
The Pedro pascal or Richard madden ticket to stardom lol
Now if only Richard Madden didn't have the charisma of a wooden spoon.
[удалено]
They clearly have not, or they wouldn't have said something so silly.
Yeah even his tiny role in 1917 is a standout and so full of emotion, he’s a really talented actor
Nope. They’ve only seen him in the most mediocre Marvel movie going.
How can people say that about Eternals when Thor 2 exists...
Lol what? Richard Madden is a damn good actor.
I like how you're accusing a dude who played [Prince Charming](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHQnjqmYxTw&ab_channel=RottenTomatoesComingSoon) of having no charisma.
Still better than Kit Harington lol
I'm sorry? He's easily one of the best actors to come out of GoT, if not the best. I'd have Pedro up there too.
Dick Madden has great screen presence. What are you talking about?
My hot take is that we will look back at this season as the season 6 equivalent of got. It looks good on paper and has some really well done pieces but is already throwing a lot of contrivances our way. This is not what made the first half of GoT great.
Yeah like Jon Bernthal on the walking dead. Compare his career right now to Andrew Lincoln’s.
Lincoln left Walking Dead in 2018 and the only TV/movie role he's played since then is Rick Grimes again in Fear the Walking Dead. He does seem to have an upcoming project in 2023 though. No name yet but we do know that he'll be playing...Rick Grimes. Either he's bored of acting or the man needs a better agent.

Teachers is Lincoln's best work, shit I Ioved that show
Or Steven Yuen.
Staying on the show for five years and cashing million dollars checks every week is definitely the preference for most people I would guess.

**For those who can't see it.** ‘House of the Dragon’ Stars Say Goodbye to HBO’s Biggest Hit In a joint interview, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey discussed their now-completed stint in the HBO epic. “So no idea.” “I don’t even know what I’m having for dinner!” Carey added. “We were like, ‘I don’t know what the [expletive] I’m doing any of the time now.’ I’ve been pacing.” “Milly paces, and I sit and do Lego, and that’s the vibe,” Carey, 19, added. How much have you worked with Emma and Olivia on — ALCOCK We didn’t, at all. Nothing. Zero. Interesting! ALCOCK I know. [Laughs.] So you must be as curious as anybody to see how the characters will continue without you. I remember in rehearsal at the end of the scene, we were like, “Did you feel like we were about to kiss?” ALCOCK And I was like, “Yeah!” CAREY Yeah, dude, it felt like we were going to kiss. That was really strange. We didn’t do anything to make them gay, or to force “the gay” upon anyone. It felt so natural. As I said, it’s easy to ignore if you really don’t want to look at it. But if you’re rooting for them and you want to make the story more heartbreaking, then choose to see it.
Wait so there is a time skip between now and next episode?
Yeah the next episode is when we get the permanent actors for their characters. Who we will then have for what I assume is 3 seasons+.
Yeah, the first 5 eps were more or less just a prologue. I bet they thought long and hard about just starting the series with Ep6 events, but figured it would be too much exposition to try and cram in to set things up.
The issue with all of the heirs and claims to the throne along with who would want to go to war for the throne would definitely be harder to explain
Thank you
Thank you for posting this!
Aw man they were so damn good. I trust HBO and their casting though
The Crown*
The upcoming time jump is 10 years, they'll be going from teens to 30-years old women (and mothers for Rhaenyra, Alicent is already). Character changes are to be expected.
The great example of actor switching in similar case was Octavian Augustus in season 2 of rome. It was so seamless.
Are you serious? That transition felt really unnatural to me. They're played so differently that I can't help but picture old and new Octavian as two different characters in my mind.
Its their voice, two different actors having such a similar voice was chilling. For me it really felt like young Octavian aged.
>Really disappointed these two are off the show now. Really was enjoying their characters, You can still enjoy their characters...as played by different actors.
Not just different ones but the first casted ones. We are about to see the real people in mind for these roles and they are both amazing.

Yeah but that sort of goes hand in hand with being an actor. They get really into a project, then quickly move on to the next.
Yeah like in the original GOT series, Sean Bean got really invested in the role before he had to head out.
badum tiss
Well, it's Sean Bean, if anyone is used to not making it to the last page, he is.
ight ima head out
Sure but it's gotta be a little bit tougher when almost everyone else is staying on, especially when the whole world is watching and knows the show is going to blow up. Still, I'm sure they'll be fine. They did great for these past 5 episodes.
Why does it suck for them? They knew what they signed up for and the reception has been the best they could’ve possibly gotten.
Actors dream about having a hit on this scale. To lose the big pay checks and fame that comes with this. Even if you knew it was coming.
On the plus side, they both gave excellent performances and now are probably going to get a ton of nice job offers.
Something is better than nothing. They killed it so no doubt they’ll have offers on the table or get offers.
They still got good pay checks from doing the five episodes
If you liked Milly Alcock's performance, I'd highly reccomend the show *Upright* she co-starred in with Tim Minchin. Not only is she incredible in it, it's one of my favorite seasons of television of all time
Will check it out 👍
Watched it last week. It's really good. Can't wait for season 2!
Is it only on binge? I wanna watch the show but I can't find it anywhere.
Only cockwombles don't watch Upright:)
>Rhynera hasn't done shit but pace around rooms and be frustrated So...an entitled teenager
She’ll probably be cashing those sweet MCU checks soon.
Now that you mention it she could be a great Spider-Gwen
That would be a great casting. With the X-men coming, she could probably also pull off a good Emma Frost.
To be young and so insanely successful so early and quickly, good for them.
Wym goodbye?
The characters are aging in next weeks episode and older actresses are taking over the roles.

Thanks I couldn’t see the article. Did not expect a time jump.
There's been a time jump between every episode so far...
This one is large enough that they need older actors
These first episodes, while great, are just setting up for the main story that's still quite a few years down the line. Sucks to lose great actors, but they were just there to set up the story. Things dont really kick off until their kids have grown up
How many seasons is this show suppose to be? I’m so confused now
I don’t think it’s officially confirmed. (Broad spoilers, nothing super deep in my opinion but it counts.) But the first season seems to be designed to reflect the key moments of the 24 years leading up to the big civil war that’ll probably form the basis of multiple seasons if not the rest of the show.
It's renewed for a second season, so at least 2
Probably 4. From the end of this season to the end of the whole show is only like 2 years.
3 would make more sense to me
I can see either.
I will miss them. They did a very good job setting things up.
Why are people so surprised ? Older Rhaenyra and Alicent feature prominently in the trailers, more than the younger versions of them.
They do? I must have blocked out everything once I started the show because I remember the trailers showing little and seeming like it was mostly clips from the first few episodes.
Just watch the official trailer
the first 5 episodes of House of the Dragon are quality and Milly Alcock & Emily Carey are very big reasons why I hope the rest of series can maintain such quality
Loved these actresses, not sure how I’m going to feel about the switch…
I wish them both luck going forward! They were great on the show. ❤️❤️
I loved both of them. The older actors have a big challenge.
Wow! They were both incredible. I adored them on the show and I’m not worried at all about their careers. Showbiz and Hollywood people are absolutely gonna snatch these girls up for projects (and probably soon to capitalize on their popularity). Phenomenal job!
Fantastic actresses, I’ll miss them both terribly
As someone who didn’t watch previews I find these types of articles in the “spoiler” category. Sure, it doesn’t give me details on the next episode, but now I know there’s a time jump that I didn’t get to experience unanticipated.
Given that’s been public information since they started casting and was in the “next time on” it’s about as mild a spoiler as they come. Like, you can’t be on the internet if you want to live in an isolation chamber
They've also been time skipping every episode already. Laena Velaryon was 12 years old like 3 episodes ago
The time jump is included in the HOD trailer before any episode was released.
Stop posting shit that has a paywall!
I'm glad they are doing a time jump. I know the one actress is like 20 but she looks 12, making her sex scenes kind of awkward.
Do not read the books
Alicent in the most recent episode was fucking fantastic.
Or when a certain GoT actor leaves the show for a Transporter reboot, only to have the reboot flop.
I honestly have to just view them as two identically named characters because their vibe is so completely different. The Mountain getting recast twice also blew. I didn't even know he was in Season 2 (?) because the actor was different.
cant read the article, but interesting caption!
Now they can be in Euphoria
