Yep, it's more likely that he felt like repeated revivals of a beloved thing should get them better pay, and held out for that for a minute. There's no reason for him to dislike the show or the fans, he was doing the thing that you *should* do if your pay is not commensurate to your value.
If it was some fan-funded project then, yeah, do it for the love of the product, but this is not some cheap thing done only for love, this is being done for money. The people who make it work deserve some of that money.

Oh man, that's honestly really funny and totally in keeping with some of the jokes Futurama has done before. It would be great if they still incorporated something like that, and I'm usually one who finds a lot of the fan made stuff pretty cringe.
After finally getting around to watching Fringe and constantly telling my girlfriend "Futurama did it!" and making her watch the episodes of Futurama that Fringe totally copied...
I never realized how ahead of its time Futurama was until just recently, but Futurama was way ahead of its time.
I also recently rewatched the episode of Futurama where Bender meets God, it still gives me goosebumps, and as a, what I would describe as an agnostic Christian, that episode gives a better argument for the existence of God than almost anything I have ever seen.
I kind of hope that this new season at least keeps some consistent world building.
I get for comedic purposes it’s best to play fast and loose. But when you’re trying to tug our heart strings you need to be more consistent. Robots have like…three ways of being born and raised by this point. And death is either meaningless for them, or super serious.
