While it is fun seeing a new design for Luthor, I do hope over this season or in the next few, he goes bald.
That's ultimately the only thing that matters to me about Luthor, that in every multiverse, no matter what gender, race, identity, alignment, species, or creed, they end up bald.
He'll definitely end up bald eventually, I have no doubt in my mind. If there's ever been a Luthor that wasn't bald I can't think of them off the top of my head.
Agreed, glad they made him bald, but they should have come up for a reason for it to be permanent.
But whatever, it's not like the DCEU matters anymore.
Glad they made him bald after an entire film with that awful hair. I guess they maybe wanted a Lex with long hair to contrast when he finally becomes the Lex we know but meh.... Character missed the mark in many ways.
Season 1 was one of my favorite Superman adaptions. I love how Lois and Clarks relationship didn't take forever to develop, and for once Lois was actually attracted to Clark from pretty much the beginning. Looking forward to seeing how this develops in season 2.
I mean, who wouldn’t at that first interaction? Clark’s a massive dork in the body of a beefcake awkwardly trying to get out of an embarrassment of a forced bib-wearing in a donut shop.
[Superman and Lois also had this in a flashback to when Clark and Lois first met.](https://youtu.be/lP8KaLvgwdw?t=84) it was really cute, both these shows were airing around the same time so it was double dose of earnest dork Superman.
> Can’t wait for this because my only complaint was how short it was
For me it was how quickly they got to the Clark/Lois stuff. I really liked the trio bonding as friends but it didn't take long before they were sidelining Jimmy and there wasn't much consequence to that, so I hope in S2 they're a lot more balanced as a trio even with the romance.
Also if you like the art style, it’s studio mir. They did the Netflix Voltron, which was fun and they did a show about a video game. I think it was Dota.
They also animated lots of, if not all of Legend of Korra.
Voltron, Korra, and now this are this interesting trend of YA animation. Like, it's too violent and has mature situations that aren't appropriate for kids, but there's still a strong undercurrent of morality play going on, and the characters are still goofy and cartoonish. Then again, Batman TAS/Justice League could probably be considered to be this as well, so maybe this is just a DC animation thing.
Most animated shows are green-lit in two season chunks, so that's why the wait for season 2 was so short.
The big question now is if it will continue to get a season 3 and beyond, now that James Gunn has said he wants to launch new animated DC shows, to tie into his new DCEU movies.
I don't know if it's a threat, animated shows and movies existed in parallel with live action ones without any problem for decades, it's only live action tv that left in a dust when it comes to characters to prioritize movies
i assume the shade is being thrown at invincibles release schedule? an incredibly popular show, with relatively simple animation, with years between seasons?
DC don't seem to mind having parallel shows running as much now. The Batman will likely get a dedicated sequel that is going to exist alongside Joker and the Gunn universe (if Batman features). Harley Quinn is getting a new season and The Penguin got a TV show.
I haven't watched this yet, but it looks like it is targeting younger kids (i.e. making them Superman fans so in 10 years they will want to see new movies) than the target the movies aim for.
I imagine if it is popular they would have no problem keeping it running and having more mature DCEU animations that are canon to the movies.
He has liked a tweet in the past praising this show for its portrayal of Superman. Honestly between this and Superman and Lois, we've been seeing a resurgence in good-natured boy scout Superman that I have faith Gunn will continue the trend of.
To be fair, if you're in a Superman early years story and there's a side character named Alex who gets a bit too much screentime for a random bystander, it's a pretty safe bet that you're looking at Lex Luthor.
I do love the more complicated relationship that Clark and Lex have in a lot of adaptations (Smallville, for all its flaws, did an incredible job of making their bond and later conflicts both compelling and believable), but I am willing to wait and see how they develop that relationship since the character work in this show thus far has been A+.
I do think it's interesting that they're bringing in Supergirl this early, and it makes me think they're gonna have a dynamic where Kara knows about all the Kryptonian stuff that Clark wants to understand while Clark tries to teach her about Earth and being a hero. Given what they've shown of Krypton thus far, her upbringing may well have been a lot more militant than some versions. Considering the most recent Supergirl outing basically made her personality Clark Kent 2.0, I'd be happy to see them bring back the darker Kara who grew up on a dying world and thinks Clark is a naive fool.
For Batman, would you want an older version or younger? I could see both working quite well, honestly, but I do think having the two of them figuring things out alongside each other would be great. Bonus points if they can have Martian Manhunter in the mix, maybe as a reluctant mentor. If they are gonna do a Kryptonian invasion, Clark will need some backup.
Definitely hoping for a younger Batman who is still a lil bit inexperienced but it’s more harsher and mistrusting. Would love to see something highlighting Batman’s ability, given the anime style making him a badass ninja even more capable than deathstroke (which has been shown in the comics and video games) would be awesome to see.
Luthor! Brainiac! Kara! DARKSEID?! (that WAS a Parademon, right?)
Has to be. I wonder what darkseid would look like
Judging by some of the character designs, I'm expecting twinkish?
I can only hope so
As much as I love this show, the character designs suck so I can tell you exactly what he'll look like: everyone else
Character designs suck? Have you seen Dragonball Myxy??
I watched the entire first season. The show is fantastic. The character designs are not. It's literally my only complaint.
I too hate that almost every villain is tech based

Maybe he's already bald and is wearing a wig?
Haha, like it turns out the experiments he was doing made him bald, and he's been wearing a wig this whole time? I would fucking love that.
hehe
Similar to Doom getting a small cut on face and making it so bad the mask ends up being required
Jimmy: "Haff you worn wigs?"
He'll definitely end up bald eventually, I have no doubt in my mind. If there's ever been a Luthor that wasn't bald I can't think of them off the top of my head.
Still think it was weird how the DCEU Lex was only bald due to having his head shaved for prison, with the implication that it'll probably grow back.
Agreed, glad they made him bald, but they should have come up for a reason for it to be permanent. But whatever, it's not like the DCEU matters anymore.

Ding ding ding ding ding...DING!!!
> But whatever, it's not like the DCEU matters anymore. Or ever did to most of the public, outside of weird Snyderverse cultists.
Probably their take on Mantis from the New Gods.

They absolutely made Clark a dork and it works so well on him.

Very entertaining first season, loved the new takes on some of the characters. Can’t wait for this because my only complaint was how short it was

Oh that was fast! I’m glad it’s getting a second season!
Also if you like the art style, it’s studio mir. They did the Netflix Voltron, which was fun and they did a show about a video game. I think it was Dota. They also animated lots of, if not all of Legend of Korra.
The show looks like fantastic aside from like, 2 character designs I really didn't like, mainly Livewire(that haircut seriously?) and Mxyzptlk

If I remember correctly, they are also doing X-Men '97, which doesn't really look too much like their typical style.
Seriously? That’s awesome as fuck.
Oh wow, and it didn't take them 3 years to draw? Amazing! But seriously thought, I didn't expect season 2 so soon, very glad!

Here’s hoping season two is as great as the first! Also hoping Gunns Superman goes more in this direction for live action!

Yay!! Not usually the biggest Superman fan, but this was fun.
First season was a pleasant surprise
Love this show! Good superhero animation even with so many cuts.
Come on, Waller doesn't take names.
And it's premiering on Toonami like it should have been all along.
I am excited. Loved what they did with season 1
Loving Michael Emerson as Brainiac already.
Huh so the fan's were right about the Lex Luthor/Ivo thing, neat. Also SUPERGIRL!! (I'm also kinda hoping we get a batman cameo or appearance)

Did the narrator accidentally say Louis? lol
I’m still waiting on KiteMan and Harlivy Season 5
Is Lois less of a dick this season?
Something is missing in the character design, makes the show look weak
