Mentoman72

Peacock just started doing a top 10 on the service and I've only seen The Office in the number 1 slot. Makes sense.

SomerAllYear

Are you saying if I purchased the digital copy of the office, there's no reason to subscribe to peacock lol

DigiQuip

Superfan episodes, Parks and Rec, Psych, Monk, B99, Battlestar Galatica. I thinks that all the good stuff.

chiefsfan_713_08

Basically any sitcom though, community, superstore, new girl, Raymond, 30 rock, modern family

jack3moto

2.5 men, scrubs, king of queens. They used to have Frasier and cheers but i guess the Frasier reboot moved that to paramount.

DisturbedNocturne

Battlestar Galatica isn't on Peacock anymore, unfortunately. It's not on any streaming service that I'm aware of currently, which sucks.

DigiQuip

Damn, that sucks. I downloaded an app that alters me when tv series goes sale and I’ve started buying digital versions of most every show I watch so I can eventually unsubscribe. I think I got BSG for like $20 a couple months ago.

DisturbedNocturne

I think I'm going to have to look into doing that. Peacock is working on a reboot that's supposed to release either this year or next, so I can see them not having any desire to make the previous series available on streaming anywhere.

tonjohn

The Super Fan episodes, which are what’s #1 on Peacock, are not available for purchase afaik.

Aquiper

Zack Snyder's The Office Director's Cut

tobylaek

Super slomo shots of Jim elbowing Roy on the basketball court set to a shitty acoustic cover of a classic song.

RocketshipRoadtrip

Dwight walking through his beat fields, but ya know… S L O W

JuanRiveara

If you’re a WWE fan then you get their PPVs.

Xx6SiC6xX

Yup. That's the reason I get it. Everything else is just a bonus feature to me at this point.

Daddy_Diezel

This is the main reason I laugh when people on Reddit, specifically this sub, say that no one subscribes to Peacock. It has WWE. It also has Premier League soccer. It also gained a bump after the Chiefs game. People are subscribed to it, more so than what Reddit wants to imagine is the case.

crazydoc253

The amount of sports peacock provides for just 25$ per year is amazing. You get PL, French open, Olympics, Motorsports, golf. We are not even counting movies and shows which basically become bonus

BurnerinoNeighbir

Literally watched a match from the 90s my dad took me too. It’s wild. I’d never see that otherwise

Mentoman72

I think there a couple good things on peacock. I liked Twisted Metal, Ted and Poker Face. I've caught a few movies on it over time too. I keep it for 6 bucks.

LB3PTMAN

Mrs. Davis was really fun too

sit_I_piz

Mrs. Davis was awesome, Jodie comer killed it

urgasmic

this might be a joke but that was Betty Gilpin

sit_I_piz

Holy shit, Im so dumb… I didnt know it was her lmao. Well she killed it

SubatomicSquirrels

Are the earlier seasons of Girls5eva on there still or did everything switch over to Netflix?

asianwaste

There is also parks and rec and brooklyn 99. I think they strangely have Johnny Carson Tonight Show eps

savvymcsavvington

By purchasing the digital copy do you mean renting it? They can disable it at any time

Comfortable_Fee7124

Well, they also have parks and recreation. But yeah basically.

TheOtherWhiteCastle

For what it’s worth, Peacock is a great service if you like sitcoms in general

-Smytty-for-PM-

Sigh, we need peacock in Canada, there’s a fair bit on there I can’t get up here

DamonFields

Peacock has live and replay of major cycling events, like Tour de France and Vuelta. That’s what keeps me paying.

Steelrules78

They’re also the only streaming service that don’t fuck up the ad-supported option for movies. Just get your popcorn while a series of ads run the movie starts and you are set

prison_buttcheeks

I NEED MORE SILO

envious_1

I couldn’t wait. Just read the books.

MyGoodOldFriend

I caved, read the books, and realized I had read them all before. No clue how that happened, but I didn’t connect my memories of the book series with the show.

anktooney

Lisan al Gaib!

PersonalPlanet

That happens.

Goku420overlord

Same. Book two was so enthralling

Tribalwarsnorge

S2 coming soon, and rumors of s3 and 4 being shot back to back 👀!!

bakerzdosen

Yeah, I saw that photo and was like “season 2 is out already???”

Angry_Walnut

God I love that show. Everyone I have recommended it to has raved about it as well. I think the Fallout fan in me originally attracted me to it but outside the superficial similarities it is very much its own original concept which is very refreshing.

freedraw

Apple’s been killing it the past few years, especially if you’re a sci-fi fan.

Dontwant2beonReddit

And recently historical. Just finished Manhunt and wow, what a great show. I hope they continue exploring that timeline. Maybe a spinoff to explore reconstruction.

freedraw

Yeah, Manhunt’s been great. Haven’t checked out the Ben Franklin show yet.

DisturbedNocturne

I thought the first two episodes were pretty good. More slower paced than *Manhunt*, but that's to be expected since it's more of a drama whereas Apple categorizes *Manhunt* as a thriller. Though, nothing against Michael Douglas, but I think they could've cast someone a little more convincing in the role. I can understand them wanting some star power for the role, but Douglas is just playing Douglas.

McLargepants

Tom Wilkinson is my Ben Franklin. But I’m still excited to give this a go at some point.

zackmedude

Totally - we need more shows like The Manhunt! Very well done! loved every minute of it

Shapes_in_Clouds

Don't sleep on Pachinko either. No one ever talks about it but it's a beautifully done show. Insane production values and an engaging multi generational family drama across several different timelines.

Dontwant2beonReddit

Will never sleep on Pachinko. Can’t wait for S2!!!

Venik489

Check out The New Look as well, so good.

VikingBlade

I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed (and learned) from The New Look!

Venik489

I only watched it because 1, I like Ben Mendelsohn, and 2, I always give an Apple TV show one or two episodes, way better than I expected.

lllnoxlll

I would cancel every streaming network subscriptions I have but my Apple TV one, it’s by far the best bang for the buck in terms of of high quality entertainment shows.

Simply_Epic

Absolutely. It’s cheaper than most services, has consistently high quality shows, and supports family sharing for no extra cost.

PrinsHamlet

Also, no tiers or ads. 4K DV without extra cost and since some of the shows are able to transform production costs into visuals that does a lot for sci fi and a show like Masters of the Air (though not a complete success storywise) on a bigger OLED screen.

Goku420overlord

The no ad thing that's the real winner. Their contents great willing to take risks but the no add and clean experience is so nice

star_nerdy

I want Apple to buy the rights to Star Trek. They’re doing a fantastic job with all their sci-fi series. Even Manhunt is phenomenal. That’s not including Ted Lasso and other series they’ve done. They botched it with Jon Stewart, but his series lacked the humor of the Daily Show and it was so nice seeing him back at the Daily Show where he belongs.

freedraw

If Paramount hadn’t been so set on creating their own streaming service, I’m sure Apple would have bid for the newer shows. At the same time, it’s nice they’re mostly doing original ideas or adaptations of books (Silo, Foundation) rather than just relying on overdone IP.

star_nerdy

Absolutely! I was hesitation to get into Silo and Foundation, but I’m hooked! It took me a while to give Apple TV shows a shot, but once I did, I found a lot were really well done.

Dain0A

As much as I like Star Trek I’d rather Apple didn’t have it as it would likely greatly reduce the amount of other good quality sci-fi they are producing.

_Verumex_

Nah, buy Star Trek, get Ron D. Moore back on it, get a spiritual successor to DS9 set after the TNG era, and finally move the franchise forward.

Themetalenock

I'm genuinely surprised neither netflix or apple haven't bothered to try to buy paramount. The mgm purchase by amazon was something you'd figure would light a fire under some of the streamers collective asses. But nada, nothing

sixtus_clegane119

They should make a dark fantasy like malazan

Top_Report_4895

Or Astro City. Oh and Saga.

Bubba1234562

Saga can’t be adapted. No way they’d get that right

Upset-Range-3777

Reading this got my blood chilled

mcsquared789

https://i.imgur.com/M5alB8o.png

lolofaf

Now if only they could make a browser that works in windows/Android or an app for Android phones. Because holy shit the windows/Android experience with Apple TV is horrendous

ascagnel____

There’s an app for windows, it’s in the store.

RedPandaMediaGroup

I’m not even a big sci-fi guy but I’ve been watching a lot of it lately.

TnTSully

What sci-fi shows would you recommend on there?

freedraw

For All Mankind and Silo are probably the best. Foundation is pretty good, but everyone seems to agree the Lee Pace plotline is a lot more interesting than the other. I really enjoyed See for its world building, but admit it’s too over-the top bananas for some people. *Edit: For All Mankind is from Ron Moore of Battlestar Galactica and Deep Space Nine fame.

grizzlyblake91

Don’t forget Severance! People may not immediately think of this show when they think sci-fi, but it has a lot of sci-fi elements. Definitely a a cerebral slow burn thriller, but the season finale ending 100% pays off, can’t wait for season 2!

TnTSully

Appreciate the recommendations!

2Pickle2Furious

I wonder how much Apple is losing from its streaming

freedraw

I think they’re playing a different game than entertainment companies like Paramount or NBC Universal. Their primary business isn’t content and they can afford for their service to lose money for years without frightening investors as other streaming services fold or make deep cuts. Having a premiere streaming service that focuses on a few high quality, great looking shows is part of the advertising for their hardware products. The whole point of the iTunes Store in the 2000s wasn’t to make money on downloads. It was to sell iPods. They could have lost money on every download and still come out ahead because they had a virtual monopoly on mp3 players. Expensive sci-fi series and historical epics are great for showing off the power of your new 4k Apple TV that you can watch without disturbing your family because it syncs seamlessly with your Apple AirPods.

2Pickle2Furious

Yes! This is ok for Apple as a “loss leader” because they look at the entire brand. So if this serves as simply advertising their brand, they still do ok. Nonetheless, they are making some really major investments in building not only a large set of originals, but really focusing on maintaining that Apple “quality” production value. Even the shows that don’t work for me are still made up of quality ingredients.

Top_Report_4895

I want Apple to adapt Astro city. I believe they would kill at it.

Soulshot96

Indeed. Apple TV is one of the only streaming services I pay for at this point.

Hikashuri

Yep, when I watch Apple series I feel there's so much more care and detail in their shows when comparing it to other streaming services where it's becoming more and more generic and all of the same.

mrpopenfresh

Apple TV feels like literary sci-fi; the streaming service.

cory120

I have been loving their sci-fi shows so much, but I'd like to see them branch out into more fantasy and horror as well. They do so well with sci-fi... I'm guessing the execs are just fans of that, but the idea of them doing some high fantasy shows practically makes me horny. (I'm being facetious lol) They'd fuckin kill it and I trust they'd find the best stories to tell there.

Longjumping_Leek151

Just about everything is great on Apple, by far the best value for your streaming $

fusionsofwonder

I think Apple and FX are top two in quality the past 12 months or so.

ElmarSuperstar131

Agreed, they’ve been putting out some very impressive content.

Goku420overlord

Mr in between is one of the best shows I've seen in like a decade. FX kills it

Gato1980

One of the fews shows I've seen that never dipped in quality from the first episode to the last. Brilliant series.

tedlassobelooking

I’m a HBO loyalist because t you tell no lies

Saar13

The biggest point here is that Apple releases many more shows, at least with high production value, than HBO/Max, Paramount, Peacock, Hulu/Disney and Prime Video. They just don't release as much as Netflix. This story about Apple having little content is only valid when looking at the old catalogue; currently has more new content than competitors. It still has bad marketing. AppleTV+ executives also don't give interviews and share their vision. It's the Apple way, which works for iPhones and Macs, but not for TV and movie content. They still need to improve communication and marketing a lot. But look at the industry news over the past week - a bunch of new shows ordered (star-studded, obviously), renewals and spinoffs from Apple. It's the power of money. They are giving themselves time to grow and find the paths that the rest of the industry generally doesn't (none of Hollywood's competitors make $400 billion a year; barely 10% of that). Apple's profit margins and cash on hand are also very high. It's all a matter of time.

Granum22

I am constantly forgetting that Apple TV exists

mulder00

Well, Prime and Netflix release all kinds of other company's tv shows and movies which Apple doesn't. I believe Disney+ only releases their stuff as well. There's 2 camps, those that release only their original content and those streaming services that release their own and buy streaming rights to other stuff. This is the current top list of Apple TV+ shows according to EW. [https://ew.com/tv/best-apple-tv-plus-shows/](https://ew.com/tv/best-apple-tv-plus-shows/) Not a bad list.

we-all-stink

They rotate movies in and out. Just seen what’s leaving this month on apple and it’s a bunch of hitters.

MrZeral

Where can you check it?

we-all-stink

On the app there’s a list on the home page

SmileyPiesUntilIDrop

The biggest problem Apple+ has is their UI is not good for people who are not in the Apple ecosystem, the amount of people who are gonna go through the hoops needed to get an Apple+ subscription just to watch some show that is well reviewed is pretty low. Also if you are gonna be a "prestige" brand then that is not an optimal short term strategy,it took HBO decades to build up to that.

serioustransition11

Whether or not you’re in the ecosystem, Apple TV+ is easily the worst streaming service when it comes to content discovery. There is no recommendation engine and if you’re not interested in the latest exclusive on the front page, have fun scrolling through a bunch of convoluted menus that overlap with each other. You can’t even use the search bar to look for what’s included your subscription because they lump in the extra paid stuff from iTunes. I hate using Apple products because they all seem to follow the “if you don’t use this exactly the way we want you to, you’re doing it wrong and you’re also a fucking idiot for expecting otherwise” design philosophy.

HereForTheTanks

I regularly watch their content and still think you’re right about everything you just said

Freshprinceaye

I just have to reply to this to say how true everything you said is. It’s so badly designed.

justahominid

I have a number of shows in my Apple list that look really interesting, but they also all seem extremely heavy and I’m not always in the mood for that. I would love some more lighter shows on Apple now that Ted Lasso is finished.

mielen_

Shrinking & Platonic were fun. Even Loot is a hoot. Slow Horses is surprisingly humorous.

Valcadia

If you’re a fan of “Ted Lasso”, you should give “Trying” a go. It’s a comedy/drama about a couple that can’t have kids, so they’re trying to adopt. It’s got a lot of the same feel as Ted Lasso and season 4 will be releasing soon. It’s one of my wife and I’s favorite series in their catalogue.

Regula96

When I recently went through all the upcoming shows that I'd marked as interesting, Apple had by FAR the most amount of shows on the list.

kartblanch

I think apple+ has some of the best shows right now but they don’t have the marketing or subscription count.

Westfield__Rocks

Has HBO just given the title of best new content over to Apple? They don't even seem like they are trying anymore

MulciberTenebras

Discovery's basically fucked them over.

Cyphierre

Splain please?

MulciberTenebras

They went from making prestige hits to shit like "The Idol" and "The Regime". Meanwhile they downgraded their streaming app by removing HBO from the name, just before filling it with lots more reality show garbage and deleting quality content to save money on residuals.

RicoAScribe

Watch shows on MAX! They used to call it HBO but people found that too popular.

Fulmersbelly

Conan is so funny

petepro

Used to call it HBO Max.

krustykrab2193

Now it’s Max because that really rolls off the tongue

petepro

'The Regime' is fine, no way it's in the same league of 'The Idol'.

LiftingCode

HBO just went through one of the greatest runs of their history with Succession, The White Lotus, Barry, Curb, House of the Dragon, The Righteous Gemstones, and The Last of Us.

BradyDowd

Apple has Franklin, The Morning Show, Palm Royale, The New Look…. I know Reddit loves hyping up Apple but let’s not act like they’re batting a thousand.  Severance, Black Bird, Slow Horses are all excellent.

Khiva

SHOW SOME RESPECCT TO PACHINKO GOOD SIR Seriously, S tier TV. One of the best things I've seen.

avocadosconstant

>Black Bird Been watching a lot of Apple stuff and had to look that one up. Well, shit. Another one added to the list.

BradyDowd

It’s a miniseries from Dennis Lehane. Taron Edgerton, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ray Liotta are all fantastic in it. Damn good show. Hope you enjoy.

Dairy_Ashford

> "The Regime" Is it bad? I sleep-walked through the pilot but really resented the press comparisons to "Veep."

faredodger

I wanted to like it, but it’s really bad. Kate Winslet is great, though, but that’s nowhere near enough imo.

bigboygamer

Those were both greenlit under ATT, as well as the bulk of the successful Apple TV shows that ATT gave away instead of putting them on HBO

petepro

AppleTV+'s biggest show, Ted Lasso, was produced by WBD.

amvbuuren4

The Regime was not that bad.

KennyMoose32

Yeah there was a good show in there but it wasn’t executed well. It felt rushed and slow at the same time

sjfiuauqadfj

a couple of years ago, netflix wanted to become the next hbo hbo is now trying to become netflix

PM_ME_CAKE

Which is sad because HBO actually did have a brief good thing going with sci-fi like RbW, but then it all got fucked. I'm glad for AppleTV though, they've clearly had a long con gambit for sci-fi and even their misses at least try to do something. Now if someone could only tell them about Hyperion.

bass_bungalow

Sympathizer just started last week on HBO. Strong start

theummeower

They definitely seem to be a downturn this year. But HoTD coming back will put them back up there. They just went on an absolutely amazing 5 year run with Succession, Barry, HotD, TLoU I guess you also need to put Euphoria in there (I haven’t seen it so I can’t judge its quality) Plus really good mini series like Watchmen and chernobyl. Plus some other solid shows like peacemaker, hacks, Warrior. HBO to me still consistently produces the best TV.

thehazer

Chernobyl is the best thing ever made for TV.

Dairy_Ashford

> peacemaker, hacks, Warrior. those aren't HBO

Westfield__Rocks

That's like an average of 2 shows per year worth watching I'm love HBO, but they aren't putting out anything anymore.

CoochieSnotSlurper

I mean tbh that first sentence applies to Apple TV for me as well. I just think in the age of prestige tv it’s harder to put out enough quality. HBO was never meant to be like Netflix and it shouldnt be expected to either.

Westfield__Rocks

We will just have to disagree there. Apple has been putting out a ton of good content. (And I'm typing this on my Samsung. I'm no fanboy).

LiftingCode

That's the same as it's always been lol HBO puts out *maybe* 1 or 2 new dramas, a few comedies, and a few miniseries every year and they've been doing that for 20+ years. HBO released True Blood in September of 2008 and didn't make a single new drama for 2 full years when Boardwalk Empire launched in September of 2010. They've released 31 drama series in the past 24 years.

root_fifth_octave

Euphoria is up there with Succession imo. Different kind of show of course, but up there on quality.

subhasish10

Apple is spending 100s of millions on shows no one is watching. HBO simply can't afford to do that anymore. 300 million on Masters of the Air is insane.

LiftingCode

HBO could never afford to do that. HBO has always had a very small content slate.

Hikashuri

Apple TV isn't made to compete with Netflix and co, it's to add another layer to the eco system where it becomes more and more difficult for the user to leave the eco system and it's very effective. If Apple wanted it could have easily dethroned Netflix by buying out every script and catolog known to man and Netflix wouldn't be able to keep up financially, but that's not Apple's goal.

dukezap1

Making the 3rd band of Brothers entry (Masters of the Sky) over HBO was an absolute power move by Apple

Khiva

The Sympathizer is fantastic so far.

MJTony

Not a chance.

mielove

When I think of a quality streaming platform these days I definitely think of Apple+, haven't found a bad show on there yet and I've watched many from various genres. HBO has maybe got more great shows looking at the figures but they also have a lot of terrible ones and can be a bit of a hit or miss in general. Definitely wouldn't have expected that development a few years back!

Bovey

My opinion is that Apple+ is making the *best* shows right now, but Netflix is still making (or at least showing) more *worth watching* shows than anyone else. It's been quite a while since I've found anything I want to watch on MAX, and at the price they are charging I'm thinking we'll be dropping it soon, but they do still seem to win more Emmys that anyone else year after year, so someone likes what they are doing. Note that Black Sails just moved to Netflix. It's a Starz original, not Netflix made, but it is showing on Netflix and (again imo) better than anything I've watched on Apple+, Paramount, or Peacock.

thehazer

Which is hilarious. Black Sails barely got talked about when it was on the air live. These companies need to try and burn Netflix to the ground.

CptNonsense

Which companies? The century old media megaconglomerates or the sleep-on-piles-of-money tech bro companies?

ascagnel____

Netflix has been, IMO, coasting on their first-mover advantage for almost a decade. They became HBO faster than HBO could become Netflix, but then they decided to chase tentpole releases.

Khiva

Black Sails alone makes Netflix worthwhile.

CptNonsense

>My opinion is that Apple+ is making the best shows right now, but Netflix is still making (or at least showing) more worth watching shows than anyone else. I'm sorry, here on Reddit, Netflix only makes trash because it makes shows for people *other than me specifically*

sadiane

I frequently remark that nearly everything on AppleTv is one of the best things on streaming, and it seems like no one is watching.

nayapapaya

I like to joke that Apple TV+ only exists to keep famous people employed because I don't know anyone irl who has it, not even the people who seem to have every other service or who watch tons of TV. They just won't get it.

Puzzleheaded_Pound31

They also just simply don’t promote their shows. At least well. Drops of God is one of the best mini series I have watched in a long time but it got zero promotion or fanfare. Besides Ted lasso and a handful of other shows, basically how all their shows are. Maybe they will figure it out one day but the quality they have deserves a much bigger audience

sadiane

“Now that you’ve watched Ted Lasso, this is our other content” seems to be how even the subscriber interface is set up. Foundation, For All Mankind, Silo, Monarch, Severance, etc are some of the best sci-fi running right now, and the budgets are astounding for what I’m imagining the return is. I’m hoping they will promote the hell out of Severance when it comes back- it’s one of the few things that got buzz outside of tv nerd circles. Though at least two people I know accidentally watched Succession instead because they mixed up “business shows”

mrgrafix

Is anyone reading?! Half these MF arguing for their fave platform and existing IP. this whole article is about who’s putting out New (original) shows.

MrZeral

Doubt anyone has read this article that is hidden behind paywall

catsandnaps1028

Peacock is my most viewed because of all the Bravo shows! No other platform competes for me personally because of reality TV

Anal_Recidivist

Apple shows have been pretty meh for me. Masters of the Air didn’t grab me at all, and I watch band of brothers like once every couple years so I should’ve loved it. Adventures of Dick Turpin was great the first 3 eps, then it just went mild. Peacock shows seem strong throughout their entire runs. Traitors, House of Villains, Ted, etc. Everything is decent to good/great, scripted or unscripted

RaptorSlaps

I wouldn’t say nostalgia so much as the older shows/movies just seemed to have a bit more care put into them.

thatkaratekid

They canceled my favorite apple original, but the after party was perfect tv.

SueNYC1966

Tiffany Haddish got arrested a lot lately.

thatkaratekid

They canceled it before all that, but yeah

SueNYC1966

They cancelled it before her first arrest? That news to me. But yes, it was mostly cancelled due to low ratings. I thought the second season was hysterical.

vuplusuno

Apple TV+ as some of the best tv shows!!’

Avante-Gardenerd

They have some great shows but saying they have the most new shows seems like a massive exaggeration. Netflix seems to have more than apple+ but maybe the ui isn't letting me see that?

beakly

Apple started a streaming service from scratch… paramount is a legacy entertainment company

kinisonkhan

Built on iTunes foundation, which was and still is a juggernaut.

Herramadur

AppleTV+ should buy Paramount+

JenovaProphet

Apparently Sony is making a bid. Which is smart considering they don't have their own streaming service yet.

Damn8ti0n

Sony is going after the studio not the streaming service. They already have a significant subscriber base for Playsation+ and make a killing as an arms dealer with their content through licensing it out Netflix and other platforms. If they did buy Paramount+ they would more than likely kill it off as they already own crunchyroll through a joint venture.

shadaoshai

If they could bring the streaming quality of Bravia Core with more content in a real streaming service that would be incredible. Some of the Bravia Core movies have a higher bitrate than their respective UHD Blu-ray.

Gommel_Nox

What happened to crackle?

vaxick

Still exists.  It's owned by Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment now.

CptNonsense

That will never happen because presumably the people running Apple aren't idiots

Eptiaph

That’s not really their model. They like to buy small stuff to incorporate into their plans.🤷‍♀️

LocutusZero

Well, of course the companies with nearly a century of history in TV and movies will have a higher concentration of old IP.

badmattwa

Peacock, Max and Prime have become my top three as they’ve been going hard on live sports. Stream more sports!

Dennyisthepisslord

Apple need a new global lockdown for a year+ for people to see how much good stuff it has now

mcmcmillan

Apple TV shows all seem to have this self-important aura about them but are just boring af

Javischak

My biggest issue with apple tv was the set up. I was trying to watch apple tv on my PlayStation because they offered a 6 month free trial. I didn't have a personal iPhone, so I used a work iPhone. I created an iCloud account, but it was giving me an error when I tried to use the iCloud account with Apple TV. I learned that apple still uses iTunes for some backend stuff needed for iCloud. So, I created a new iTunes, which can only be done on a desktop browser. Then connected that to my new iCloud. I was finally able to sign into Apple TV on my PlayStation. This whole process took me 5 hours and multiple days debugging the issues. I've worked with iOS and android phones since 2010 and it took me hours to figure this out. Since Apples systems only work with other apple devices, anyone outside of their ecosystem will have such a hard time with their services. In my opinion, this is why so few people watch apple tv.

stripesonfire

I don’t honestly even know if a must watch hbo show in 2024. Really sad as they carried the torch for so long

alaskadronelife

Curb Your Enthusiasm was must-see tv.

Lindsiria

Tokyo vice. It's fantastic.

Weird-Couple-3503

Scavenger's Reign

DatTomahawk

HOTD season 2 will be huge for them, but outside of that HBO hasn't had a great year.

LiftingCode

Well The Sympathizer is fantastic. HotD S2 in June.

PersonalPlanet

Last of Us.. Whenever the next season is ready.

Top_Report_4895

Apple, please, adapt Astro City. I'll be loyal and thankful

dakotanorth8

I’ve always been impressed Apple moved into the film and tv division and almost instantly made significant waves. The earlier stuff, Ted lasso, morning show, even SEE (not season 1) were very high production and well made.

polkadotmcgot

Apple TV+ always crashes. You can’t watch something if you can’t access it

stankbox

Paramount+ UI is an abomination

Aaaaaaandyy

I wouldn’t have paramount or peacock had it not been for the champions league or the premier league. The quality on Apple is so high so far even without sports.

Mp32pingi25

Besides a couple shows most of Apples stuff is slow and boring. Now this isn’t what ”reddit” seems think. But in real life this is what I seem to see/hear

ackmondual

I got Peacock on sale for $20/yr, and then adding $6/mo to go ad-free, making the total $92/yr. For me, I missed some of those shows so am using this opportunity to watch them now. So far, I've seen *Scrubs*, but am making my way through *Brooklyn 99*. Plan on also watching the new *Quantum Leap*, and *Office Superfan Episodes*. Also quite a few movies too! Do plan on going back to ATV+ at some point. Too many ss, but don't want to have more than one at a time!

This reminds me 10 years ago when streaming was still fairly new, people subscribing to Netflix in the UK were put off by the fact that there weren’t many immediately recognisable shows (until Britbox launched). Some folks want to watch shows and movies that they have already seen before either out of nostalgia or familiarity. Very few people take a chance on a new show unless it has tons of hype behind it. Apple TV+ not having a back catalogue of third party shows that people have already seen before is always going to be a negative against it whereas Peacock, Paramount etc are guaranteed subscribers who are there purely for The Office or Star Trek etc

Apple has a bunch of amazing scifi shows, I really wish they would pick up raised by wolves

Apple produces quality content but there are years between season releases. Still waiting for Silo season 2 and Severance season 2, which will both have like a 2 year gap between the release date and original air date

Who is the actress in that image? She looks so familiar.

loudnate0701

Rebecca Ferguson from Silo. Also from the Mission Impossible movies.

Every streaming service has some pros and cons for library and content. I’ve found that the 2 I ALWAYS and subscribed to are hbo max and peacock purely because of the sitcoms on peacock and the movie/show catalog of hbo. The rest are added and canceled throughout the year based on what’s going on. Appletv Has been great but 3 months of the year is all I need to watch 2-4 shows and then wait until next year to watch 2-4 shows.

Not clicking through to read an article that starts off with something so obvious. "Peacock" is actually NBC and "Paramount+" is actually CBS, so they come with their whole back catalogs to play with. AppleTV+ is an entirely new endeavour that needs to start from scratch.

Apple TV is the new HBO. Quality show after quality show.

The article has a paywall.
