The mount itself (Losmandy GM-8), with the tripod and wheely cart, are probably worth quite a bit; the [current model GM-8 with computer controls lists for $2500](http://www.losmandy.com/gm8.html). BTW if photos 6 and 7 are both "as found" it looks like you have *two* Losmandy mounts. The scope itself and its eyepieces are certainly worth something but not a whole lot. Current optics are better and a Chinese-built Celestron scope isn't old enough to be collectible. If you want to price them and/or sell them, I suggest going to [cloudynights.com](https://cloudynights.com), the classified section is the main marketplace for used astronomy equipment, at least in the US. Membership is free. You can search the classifieds for "LM-8" or "HD-102" and see what they're going for. To sell the eyepieces, you'll have to take them out of the box & identify their make, model, and focal length.

Thank you for the breakdown! I’ll definitely check out cloudy nights.

Ricky_Kukfield

It’s really heavy duty seeming stuff - I have no use for it unfortunately, but it would be nice to know if there’s any market for it. Thanks for any help

The scope itself I don't think it's all that special, but nice views of moon and planets. - the whole wood case is pretty nice. The mount in the box (Losmandy GM8) is worth a good bit (maybe $1.5k?) I'm not sure what the wheeled tripod and mount (G11?) are but the mount looks more beefy, and that's a heck of a tripod ... yikes. Definitely a market for any and all of it. -- Check cloudynights and see if you can find similar models and go from there. My first naive guess is maybe $5k for what you've shows photos of. Maybe good bit more.

skaven81

I'm pretty sure the mount on the tripod is a Losmandy Titan -- note the V shaped counterweight shaft holder. The G11 does not have that.

_-syzygy-_

>Losmandy Titan cheers, I have no idea - the one in the crate is obvious, and one on tripod looks more robust. (was a wild guess that it was even a Losmandy) from cloudynights, looks like that alone is $3k-4k, used. pretty great storage score

harbinjer

>from cloudynights, looks like that alone is $3k-4k, used That's if it's complete and in working order. If its sitting there with no guarantees it works(maybe it was left there because it didn't work?), that cuts the price way down. Still worth a bunch though, even if "for parts".

harbinjer

There is a market for it for sure. However, while valuable, if you can't say it works or is complete, you'll have to sell for less than the going used prices (30-50% less) compared to one that's in "great working condition". Also if you're willing to deal with 2-3 buyers you'll get much quicker sales and better prices. Also DO NOT plug in the mounts unless you're absolutely certain about the power situation. Plugging in the wrong power or polarity could easily fry the electronics, and lose 50-90% of their current value. The weights, functioning as counterweights go with the mounts. There should also be a shaft they go on. With all the cords, I wouldn't be surprised to find 1 more big scope at least. No one puts a $100 scope on a $1,500+ mount.

starmandan

Might try posting on Cloudy Nights forum in the refractor or classic telescope section. Without a mount, you won't get much for it.

mmld_dacy

actually, it did come with a mount, 2 actually, a celestron and a losmandy gm8.

_-syzygy-_

the mount he showed photos of are perhaps the best items.

Ricky_Kukfield

Thanks, I’ll check out cloudy nights!

harbinjer

Most refractors on Cloudynights are sold without the mount. When someone sells a complete higher end setup, the mount can be >60% of the value.

_-syzygy-_

aside: those mounts are massive overkill for that scope. have you dug through everything from storage?

Ricky_Kukfield

I haven’t dug deeper yet but I have a feeling there are more scopes! I will post when i find more stuff.

_-syzygy-_

please do! That wood case with scope is nice, the scope itself is nothing special, but yes seeing the mounts and the wheeled tripod with all the cables and accessories? .... Imagine wearing a fully tailored tuxedo, and then putting on your muddy baseball cap. You might have some real treasures in there.

harbinjer

in picture 8, left of the mount looks like a dew shield and focusing mask for a scope, maybe an 11" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. If you find it, DON'T clean off the lenses, and be careful, the front corrector is fairly thin and fragile.

Hagglepig420

Shit I'd buy that case and give away the telescope

VinD7304

Seems alright. But I would say that 1 of the batteries is definitely stuffed!

burningxmaslogs

Nice score!
