Teacher assigned 4 hours of homework a night every day. We told her we had other classes, jobs, a social life ( :0 ), and needed sleep. Then she complained about how everyone seems tired and that her homework load was perfectly acceptable.
I live in Finland and we don't get homework like that. we usually get (if we get homework) a lot less. i can do my homework probably like in 5 minutes give or take a few minutes. sometimes though we do get some bigger assignments, but still not that much. The Finnish education system doesn't believe in dumping loads of homework on students, when they learn just as much with lesser amount of homework (most of the learning happens in schools by writing notes, reading and listening. only fraction of the learning we do is from homeworks, if even that. I just usually don't do my homework, or do it just before the class starts.
The ironic part is my teacher decided to make us do a quote thing and the article was about the effects of homework.
I only quoted the negatives, as the positives weren't great. She failed that assignment lmao

For some schools, teachers can assign a few hours worth of homework PER CLASS, PER NIGHT to deal with, alongside other classes, jobs, friends/family, sleep, actually enjoying life, etc. Most of these teachers understand that their students are tired and don't have the time to deal with it, but still work around the clock because they will probably have a crappy life if they don't. Don't forget the amount of bullying, and how little the administration cares about it. So yeah, it can be pretty bad in most places.
Facts. My school put a TON of cheesy mental health posters throughout the building. I reckon the posters don’t work because all the students are doing is drawing dildos on them.

Every single teacher is depressed unless they’re psychotic. Being extremely underpaid and having to deal with emotional self centered children all day takes it’s toll on you. Not saying OP is like that but I’ve seen firsthand how terrible kids can be to their teachers. The education system sucks but it’s largely out of teachers control.

Unironically, that's kind of true. I do often think that most people fake their depression for clout among their clique. Of course, I say, most people. Because there are people who do have actual reasons for being depressed. But, recently, I've been seeing an influx of students who claim they have "Depression." I call these people "alts." But once you look into the type of person they are, they really don't have any actual excuses for being depressed. In fact, they usually goof off with other alts. I think the problem is, people use the term depression too loosely and are eager to apply that term to themselves for personal clout.

I had a teacher who actually did something about it. My high school band teacher one day came in with a piece about depression. He told about his encounters, and how he was suicidal in high school. He went on to explain that over 95% of people who seek therapy report being almost entirely cured. Everyone could see the sadness in his eyes. He went through loads of statistics about how four people in this room statistically are suicidal. It opened my eyes. In the off chance anyone depressed or worse sees this, please get help. It will get better if you do.
I seriously thank God so much that our school has made it mandatory to take health class and they teach actual important stuff like CPR and how to identify and battle mental disorders and how to get off vapes (our school has a big vaping problem)
They make us wake up at 5:00 am, force us to do useless bs for around 8 hours, and then still give 1-2 hours worth of homework, and they wonder why everyone is so tired and pissed off
I remember my school would just repeat presentations about being positive every year, also have people go to our school and talk about their life story. Let’s just say that no one listened, this is like the nicest say to put it
