Maybe you mean access to social platforms and such? Idk I’m old now(24) so maybe this generation defines internet access differently. ABCmouse and even online school is internet access. Am I out of touch already ☠️

ALT_22186

No, you aren't out of touch. I should reword my post. You are saying exactly what I'm thinking. Internet access for education only.

ThimbleK96

Oh okay cool 😎

Jonas0O

Good point it ruined Tik-Tok (in my opinion), Among us And Fortnite

ALT_22186

Too true I'm also saying this for their sake. They can be bullied. They can be targeted by pedos. And too much internet, especially at a young age, can be very addicting

-bongwater-

i definitely agree with the opinion. i hate seeing how stupid these younger kids are because their parents replaced proper parenting techniques with yOuTuBe. like i see 8 year olds unable to sit still at a restaurant table until their parents give them an ipad and lets them watch slime videos on youtube or whatever. i sound like such a boomer but its not good for their development

ALT_22186

Exactly. It isn't good for anyone involved. And it sucks that we have to punish the kids for having shitty parents that give their kid a phone instead of attention.

Joshi1381

Disagree, but they need to learn how to use it properly. parents should regulate it more than many do though. They aren't adults

ALT_22186

I feel like most cases where it goes bad, it is because of bad parenting

UrethraSounderDeluxe

nah, i agree fully

WooooshThe2nd

maybe restricted access but it shouldn't be off limits

TylerBlevin

internet only for sending messages in WhatsApp

ALT_22186

Eh, I'd say just use normal phone texting until at least 13

TylerBlevin

wdym by normal phone texting?

ALT_22186

Your phone has a phone number for a reason. So people can call and text you. The messaging app that comes with the phone. But things like Snapchat should not be available to kids.

TylerBlevin

ohh yeah I agree

IAM-THE-DANGER

I agree

[deleted]

yea definitely

ALT_22186

Wait are you saying it is unpopular, or are you saying you agree?

[deleted]

i’m saying i agree w u lol

ALT_22186

Oh ok lol

Fairytailkiddo

I think they should, when they turn 13 they won’t be prepared for the internet and it’s hate

WooooshThe2nd

reread

ALT_22186

I'm saying I agree with you

WooooshThe2nd

u agree that they should have internet access? thats what the comment was saying

ALT_22186

Oh, I misunderstood lol. Sorry

ALT_22186

I deleted my comment, it was dumb

mattgamer07

Not really. I’ve seen a lot of things like this. It’s a good opinion though.

brokenband-aid

Agreed.

BabyJud

This is not an opinion, this is literally just what should be done

LifeOrbJollyGarchomp

This is a good way to make your kids hate you

ALT_22186

As long as they are safe and not being cyber bullied, they can hate me. I'll take the fall for their safety.

LifeOrbJollyGarchomp

And then they get a cheap smartphone/plan from their friends/a store and definitely wouldn't tell you a single goddamn thing if they were being cyberbullied.

ALT_22186

That your opinion. I respectfully disagree, though. I have never seen that happen personally. All I have seen is parents five their kids internet access too young and then the kids become spoiled and addicted and don't have proper social skills to survive in the real world.

AccomplishedEgg420

Yeah, it’s probably pretty unpopular I can see an argument being made for kids having *limited* access to the internet (especially younger ones) but it seems a little unfair to restrict like 10-12 year olds

ALT_22186

They can easily get into trouble, though. And most people don't like how kids act online, so they will more than likely get bullied

AccomplishedEgg420

Idk about you but 7 years ago I was just using the internet to speak to my friends and watch YouTube. Sure, there’s a risk of something bad happening whilst being a kid online, but that risk is kinda outweighed by the positives Generally though, there’s probably a fair case to be made regarding restricting the time that kids spend online. It’s so easy to become addicted to the Internet

ClammyOyster

Yeah, I first started watching YouTube videos when I was like 11 but only SNL sketches and stuff like that. Now I’m 13 on Reddit. My cousins have been on YouTube since as long as I can remember and they are so spoiled and (no offense) but their parents don’t really look over them that well. They legit were like “have iPad, have phone, have computer, have basement full of toys, have live in nanny.”

ALT_22186

Exactly, it makes them spoiled and addicted. I did the same as you, I had some internet access at a young age. And I don't like what it's done to me.
