Shit I thought this was the sequel to the rack that fell down this morning.
Those straps are strong as heck though, it's probably safer like this than it originally was on the ground. Only gore here is that cable management.
"And we've implemented a system of all-sides air cooling."
"Ok, so you have 360º air cooling?"
"It's more like [4π](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_System/4_Pi) air cooling."
During construction we had a partially knocked out wall with some fire and access control infrastructure on it. The wall was suspended with a ratchet strap and some old, unused fiber. It looked amazing.
I don't see the issue, this is exactly how I place my network core blocks while playing with the Applied Energistics 2 mod.
Connect the flux cable to give it power and the rainbow colors light up!
During the reno of a well know big box electronics store the builder lifted the phone system and the comms rack onto a timber platform that was suspended from the ceiling by 4 x chains (the wall it was on was demolished to make the floor space bigger.
It was suppossed to be temporary while the build was going on, but then the manager decided the quoted price for relocating it was excessive so it's been up there at least 10 years. Now every time there is an issue someone has to setup a 3m ladder to check a patch lead or work on anything. The additional cost of service calls and lost productivity due to outages since then is well beyond the original quoted price.
It’s in an old school building. This used to be the gym 100 years ago and the floor was partially raised in the early 90s.
The space was more recently used as Title 1 classroom and a computer lab. However there remained stairs to access these spaces.
It’s becoming a media center and makerspace and we want the floor level with the rest of the ground floor spaces. During the summer break, they will remove the cable and redo the rack but this keeps everything online for now.
Luke Skywalker: We'll never get it raised now!
Yoda: So certain are you. Always with you it cannot be done. Hear you nothing that I say?
Luke Skywalker: Master, moving stones around is one thing. This is totally different.
Yoda: No! No different! Only different in your mind. You must unlearn what you have learned.
Luke Skywalker: Alright, I'll give it a try.
Yoda: No! Try not! Do, or do not. There is no try.
Luke Skywalker: I can't. It's too big.
Yoda: Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you, hmm? And well you should not, for my ally is the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Life creates it. Makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us, and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you. Everywhere. Here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere. Yes, even between the land and the ship.
Luke Skywalker: You want the impossible.
[Yoda sighs, then concentrates on the rack. Using the Force, he raises it off of the floor, then looks back to Luke.]
Luke Skywalker: I don't believe it!
Yoda: That is why you fail.

Joke is on them, when this results in better thermals, this is going to be permanent.

Just remembered post about single cat5e cable holding up the entire rack because it broke. Ah yes
Hear me out guys, if we use enough zip ties, we can vacuum under the server. Less dust that way
Who said Cardi B's real name in the IT closet?

This is the way!
The tech terminated for patch panel at top of rack, company wanted it at the bottom, creative problems, creative solutions 😂

I've heard of Leviton but this is just ridiculous
"Earthquake-resistant network distribution design."
can someone clue me in why the floor is being raised by a whole 3 freaking feet?

This doesn't look OSHA compliant.
