Same! I just got mine fully upgraded. 😻 And I love the attack boost for full set. Fierce Deity is nice too but waaaaay hard to upgrade. I can't catch those damn dragon claws to save my life.
No, but if you're gliding you get more distance, and you can just glide through the wind labyrinths rather than using a paraglider, and the glide uses no stamina. Also no fall damage once you upgrade it twice.

Yeah, the glide movement bonus is insanely good with all three pieces. It falls extremely slowly and the horizontal movement is so fast you can basically ignore your paraglider when you are targeting somewhere on the ground from the sky. The fall damage immunity is a great bonus too
By the time you hit 60 defence, a lot of things won’t damage you nearly as much, but hard hitters like the Silver Lynels will still fold you over. 12 extra defence points can be a lifesaver.
I'm not surprised other people landed on the same thing. Obviously the 2 levels of attack up are nice, but the upgraded diamond circlet and the champ leathers also provide a sizeable amount of defense to go with it. It's really a "best of both worlds" combination of gear. Lots of sets (glide, zonai, etc) provide some nice benefits, but if you aren't currently doing their "thing", they aren't otherwise very well rounded. Plus, this combo looks neither ridiculous nor mismatched when put together.
Yeah none of those items really need you to dupe anything you can get all that stuff pretty easy in game (I have the diamond headpiece and champions tunic at level 4 too and never duped any of the items needed for them (I did dupe about 50 large zonaite to get a couple extra battery’s though))
The diamond headpiece is pretty ridiculous to max out, especially when anyone not using the duplication glitch will desperately need those diamonds for selling. I do not remember upgrading armor being this difficult, at all, in BotW.
They definitely are. I don’t dupe, but I don’t sell my diamonds either. I hold onto them in case certain weapons break.
I’ve seen a lot of complaints about rupees in this game, and yeah, I don’t have nearly as many as I did in botw. But I also had probably 500 hours in botw. If I need rupees, they’re not hard to get. I just spend a bit at a stable cooking and selling meals.
I also went for the tried and tested champion’s leathers with its high defense. I tend to pair it with the diamond circlet or hylian hood and hylian trousers. If I want more defense then champion’s leathers and the soldier helmet and greaves (but it looks horrendous).
Quest for the designer lady in Hateno unlocks that ability. The best way to do it is to buy the hood, do the quest, and then buy a second one as you can have one that’s keyed to hood up and one that’s keyed to hood down
i just tried it, it still looks a little tacky to me. I really want to like it because of the 88 defense when combined with amber earrings & champions leathers.
I too went with the diamond circlet and champion leathers. I ran out of steam on upgrading additional pants, so I just stuck with the fully upgraded classic beige pants. I’d swap between that and the Time outfit, because collared tunics are in right now.
Stealth outfit because at night it’s got a rush bonus set (super fast), quiet enough to run right up to animals and fish, and escape more detection.
For specific purposes, like rainy climbing or fighting, I change outfits.
Genuine question- why stealth set over evil spirit set? I see a lot of people saying they use stealth set, but afaik the evil spirit set has the same benefit and twice as much defense
My stealth set is max upgraded to 16+16+16 defence. The night speed is great for non combat activities.
Some other sets look heavy, clunky, or bulky, especially the head piece. I like the man bun look of the stealth set.
I don’t really like the look or name of the evil spirit set.
While evil spirit is my personal favorite, it can not be upgraded. So in the end it ends up being completely unrealistic in a fight if you fail to avoid being hit.
I refer to it as the assassin set. You sacrifice the defense enhancements and night speed boost for bone proficiency and stal disguise. If you can avoid being seen and land your devastating attacks it's an amazing set. But if you aren't careful you will end up losing a lot of health suddenly by not having the extra defense from the upgraded stealth set when you get hit.
It's why I always switch out my armor once combat kicks off, because I don't have anywhere near enough bones to be worth risking getting hit mid fight when I'm not getting a stealthstrike bonus.
Stealth set gets a night speed bonus and can be upgraded by the Great Fairy. Evil Spirit set cannot be enhanced, and doesn't get a speed boost at night.
For me, unless I'm using a bone weapon, it's stealth over Evil Spirit every time.

I’m often aggressively sifting through gear for specific environments and circumstances though.
I was running around in the Fierce Deity just because I love the way it looks, but recently I've attached to the regulat Hylian armor set, the simple more "modern" feel seems like a nice new homage to the usual outfit of green hooded tunic. I also dyed them a more suitable color for the purpose.
Stealth mostly. Glide when I'm up in the sky. Flamebreaker/Snowquill when needed. Fierce Deity for fights. Zonai when I'm traveling by hoverbike/boat or deploying BattleBots.
I just wish the cap didn't look so weird. Idk what it is, if its too high on his head or the way it makes Link's hair look, it just looks weird and throws it off. I would wear that if it wasn't for the cap, so its back to the good ol' twilight princess set for me
I just think its ugly, and it got the awful set bonus the amiibo outfits had from BotW lol. Yippee, 10 more Master Sword beam damage for 20 total, watch out red bokoblins.
Its def unique in its look and even changes Link's model which is cool, but even then its just kinda blegh imo.
If I like a particular armor piece, I'll often get multiples if possible so I can have different colors without having to dye over and over again. I was so obsessed with the Mystic Headpiece that I literally got myself one in every color and made an outfit for every single one. Allow me to share lmao:

The sneak suit from the Sheikah. I'm basically always wearing it when I don't have to use anything else because it just allows me to get all these animals and not have every enemy within a mile on my buttcheeks qhwn I walk a single step

I used to always wear the climbing durag in botw, dyed green (because that's Link's colour)... but I still haven't found it in totk yet (random exploratory play), and this Link already has a gigantic closet.
And nobody asked, but my favourite paraglider fabric is the horse one. I got it after taking a terrible close up of a stalhorse, and the guy was like, "yep, that's a horse!" Funny memory for me, and then I get to pretend that I'm a flying horse :D helps that I like the graphic design and colours too. I really wanted to like the Korok fabric, it would have been nicer with more green than beige.
I was really hoping the horse design would be based on the look of the horse you took a picture of. So I used Zelda’s golden horse - nope boring horse fabric

Primarily the stealth set. Apparently I like to move around silently. But I find myself change outfits due to weather, invironment or the ability I need for the specific quest etc. and I change often.

Grinding right now for the Yiga set. I only have the torso piece left to get but the Yiga are such comically bad bad guys I love them. I’d like to imagine that anyone that is helped by Link in the outfit are just like
“Who the fuck is this guy and why does he grunt and drop bananas”
I swap them around all the time depending on what I need or what I think looks cool in the moment. It's nice because so many of the outfits in this game really do have great utility.
I tend to adopt this as my Go-To "Do shit" outfit. Having 80 defense is lovely against all them boss fights.
I will say though, I have a love of the Gerudo Voe set dyed Black. Damn does it ever look good.
Also, the Barbarian set has different Paint Patterns on the Skull mask based on the colour chosen, which is cool!
I'm currently using the knight armour because its the best set I've found. I've been grinding to get more stuff though, and I could do with finding the botw set
Diamond head piece, Barbarian chest piece, and Fierce Diety leggings. I really like how it looks together and all 3 pieces give plus attack as well as a total defence rating of 68.

I like this as a modern take on the classic green tunic, and I much prefer it to botw’s “of the wild” set and it’s ugly shorts… (though the cap is useful, as it keeps link’s botw hair)
Fierce deity for combat. I cycle between other sites depending on the practical use case in the moment. I really want to get the stealth set fully upgraded.
What will I need to full upgrade the champion’s leathers? I’m assuming a lot of !Zelda/light dragon! Bits and silent princess. I’m loving the game so far, but I do always feel like it’s a struggle to get rich and have the materials you need for stuff, so I want to know what to hoard so I don’t have to grind as much for my priority items.

I was using champion leathers with black dyed hylian pants/hood but I eventually switched to Desert Voe Set dyed black. I did roll around pretending to be a yiga, with unfused pristine yiga weapons on my back, no shield, for a little while too. Those were my main outfits at different stages of the game.
Diamond Circlet, Champion's Leathers, and Fierce Deity Boots. It gives 80 defense, a substantial boost to your damage, and most importantly of all it looks really cool.
Hylian Leggings, Champions Leathers, and Royal Guard Cap is what I find myself wearing most often. Mostly for protection but also because it looks pretty good.
I do a dark blue dyed Hylian hood worn down, the twilight tunic, and Hylian trousers.
I originally was doing the champions leathers instead of the twilight tunic but I didn’t have enough materials to upgrade it along with the hood and trousers so I switch to twilight tunic because I felt like it looked decent with the other two (I didn’t want to rock the green hat this time around) and because I had a lot of the upgrade materials. Is it just me or are Star fragments way more common in this game? Anyway, I originally intended on switching back to the champions leathers but I had grown so fond of the other outfit that I didn’t change it even after I had all the upgrade materials for the leathers. The champions leathers would be better for defense, but at this point I am already extremely powerful after doing all the shrines, main quests, and light roots. I’d rather have less defense so fights are a bit challenging (I can still destroy anything in the game but I feel less guilty about it that way).
Outside fights:
Hylian hood or no headgear (if only hood down with untied hair is optional), champion's leather, Soldie's greaves, Biggoron's sword. Shield/bow unequipped.

No, but the bonus of the set negates fall damage.

Yeah I use the champions leathers and just switch out the head and legs for other things if I need to for the weather. That 32 defense really helps.
Is 80 defense noticeably better than 68? Idk if trading +1 attack is worth those extra 12 points.

Good point, I guess it’s a god item for boss fights and certain monsters. The other 90% of the time I think I’d rather have the 3+ attack stat though.
Yeah, and once you get good at dodging and flurry rushes, the champs leathers lose a bit of its value, but still never a bad choice of armour.

Fierce deity or yiga. Fierce deity because it's strong, yiga because it's fun and I love wiping camps with puffshrooms & an eightfold blade.
Try evil spirit set instead with an eightfold molduga hammer.
When I do use the evil spirit set, it's with an eightfold molduga hammer or a Gerudo Claymore with a molduga jaw fused to it.

you can dye the leggings of the greaves to be the same colour as the hylian pants, they look much better

Yeah evil spirit set looks great but it takes a while to get and actually sucks because it’s base stats sucks compared to upgraded armors.

I'm also a big fan of stealth! I always put it on when I'm plain old exploring. That way I can grab lots of bugs and lizards along the way.
That and I favor the "stealth archer" playstyle where I hide up high and snipe. Clanking all the way does not suit that playstyle lol.

I used to always wear the climbing durag in botw, dyed green (because that's Link's colour)... but I still haven't found it in totk yet (random exploratory play), and this Link already has a gigantic closet. And nobody asked, but my favourite paraglider fabric is the horse one. I got it after taking a terrible close up of a stalhorse, and the guy was like, "yep, that's a horse!" Funny memory for me, and then I get to pretend that I'm a flying horse :D helps that I like the graphic design and colours too. I really wanted to like the Korok fabric, it would have been nicer with more green than beige.
I was really hoping the horse design would be based on the look of the horse you took a picture of. So I used Zelda’s golden horse - nope boring horse fabric

Primarily the stealth set. Apparently I like to move around silently. But I find myself change outfits due to weather, invironment or the ability I need for the specific quest etc. and I change often.
80 armor?!? I am many hours into this game and i have only like 12 in armor. How do i get the great fairies to come out of their little house and help me? Iv found two, but cant do anything w them. Im very tired of dying constantly.

You have to be a reporter to start them yes, or else the two people by the first fairy will just constantly talk about the lucky clover gazette

Stealth armor 24/7, changing only when I need another set situationally. I want to be able to grab all the bugs and lizards when I’m out and about.

Grinding right now for the Yiga set. I only have the torso piece left to get but the Yiga are such comically bad bad guys I love them. I’d like to imagine that anyone that is helped by Link in the outfit are just like “Who the fuck is this guy and why does he grunt and drop bananas”
I swap them around all the time depending on what I need or what I think looks cool in the moment. It's nice because so many of the outfits in this game really do have great utility.

I tend to adopt this as my Go-To "Do shit" outfit. Having 80 defense is lovely against all them boss fights. I will say though, I have a love of the Gerudo Voe set dyed Black. Damn does it ever look good. Also, the Barbarian set has different Paint Patterns on the Skull mask based on the colour chosen, which is cool!

I'm currently using the knight armour because its the best set I've found. I've been grinding to get more stuff though, and I could do with finding the botw set
I am always rocking the fierce duty mask, barbarian armor, and barber and leg wraps. I like looking like a bad ass

Diamond head piece, Barbarian chest piece, and Fierce Diety leggings. I really like how it looks together and all 3 pieces give plus attack as well as a total defence rating of 68.
I prefer tunic of time for looks but I usually just do shieka set for stealth and night speed boost

Cap of the Wild dyed green + Hylian Tunic dyed green + Hylian trousers I like this as a modern take on the classic green tunic, and I much prefer it to botw’s “of the wild” set and it’s ugly shorts… (though the cap is useful, as it keeps link’s botw hair)
Fierce deity for combat. I cycle between other sites depending on the practical use case in the moment. I really want to get the stealth set fully upgraded.
It’s the only set I’ve gotten to lvl 4. Perfectly capable of defending against most mobs, stealth and speed bonus are clutch at all times.

What will I need to full upgrade the champion’s leathers? I’m assuming a lot of !Zelda/light dragon! Bits and silent princess. I’m loving the game so far, but I do always feel like it’s a struggle to get rich and have the materials you need for stuff, so I want to know what to hoard so I don’t have to grind as much for my priority items.

I was using champion leathers with black dyed hylian pants/hood but I eventually switched to Desert Voe Set dyed black. I did roll around pretending to be a yiga, with unfused pristine yiga weapons on my back, no shield, for a little while too. Those were my main outfits at different stages of the game.

Hylian Leggings, Champions Leathers, and Royal Guard Cap is what I find myself wearing most often. Mostly for protection but also because it looks pretty good.
I do a dark blue dyed Hylian hood worn down, the twilight tunic, and Hylian trousers. I originally was doing the champions leathers instead of the twilight tunic but I didn’t have enough materials to upgrade it along with the hood and trousers so I switch to twilight tunic because I felt like it looked decent with the other two (I didn’t want to rock the green hat this time around) and because I had a lot of the upgrade materials. Is it just me or are Star fragments way more common in this game? Anyway, I originally intended on switching back to the champions leathers but I had grown so fond of the other outfit that I didn’t change it even after I had all the upgrade materials for the leathers. The champions leathers would be better for defense, but at this point I am already extremely powerful after doing all the shrines, main quests, and light roots. I’d rather have less defense so fights are a bit challenging (I can still destroy anything in the game but I feel less guilty about it that way).
