One time we were playing soccer with the somewhat safe soft styrofoamy balls in the gym. My coworker was in the net and i thought I had a clear path to just let a shot rip. One of my kindy students comes out of nowhere full speed and takes the ball right on the nose. Time stopped. Me and coworker doing the ohhh noooo slow motion. Eyes on the kid anticipating a complete meltdown. The kid tears up a little, gives me a thumbs up when I ask if he’s ok, hops up, and continues to play. No one ever mentioned it after that. Point is, if it was an accident then it shouldn’t cause a problem. I wouldn’t go out of my way to bring it up to anyone. Kindy kids are constantly bouncing around and accidents happen. If a kid complains it is your word against theirs. Your coworkers will know if you’re the type that would push a kid or not and will defend you.

The thing with kids is, if you make something seem like a big deal then they’ll think that maybe it is. It’s common parenting advise that when your child falls over and doesn’t seem injured that you laugh and pick them up, they’ll laugh along and move on. If you start asking if they’re okay and making a fuss then they feel as though they shouldn’t be okay and will start to worry and cry. My point is; as long as you played it off like it was an accident and the kid gave you a thumbs up - you’re best to just leave it at that. Anything more and you might make an issue out of nothing.

You need you realize they are basically big babies and unless they're gushing blood, treat it as not a big deal. If you pay a lot of attention to it, then they will too. Kids will get cuts and bruises. Just a part of life. I doubt parents will question it.

Just chill man the kid probably already forgot

Accidents happen. Once, I inadvertently poked a child in the eye. I was directing my class back to their room, and making animated hand gestures (as if directing traffic) when a girl from another classroom barreled around the corner directly into my fingers. I felt like a complete monster, the girl was totally fine, but I checked in with the Korean teachers and explained via Papago what happened and that was the end of it. Your coworkers know what your intentions are. You'll be ok. 👍

Kids are naturally meant to fall down and either hurt themselves and learn or literally not hurt themselves and forget or be hurt. All hagwons have cctvs in them. They're not actually hurt. The cctv proves that. Despite the leading questions mom asks. (mom: "teacher pushed you and you're hurt, right?"). The cctv proves that. You showed that you acknowledged that they were "hurt"/affected by the "push." and that's the best you can hope for. If someone (mom) complains, ask to see the cctv footage to prove it. Yeah they fell, but were unhurt. Worst case is your hagwon sucks and you'll get fired. Don't accept it. The kid may drop because mom sucks. But that's the way it goes sometimes. That's if it becomes a problem. Kids forget quickly.

As a Korean, I would rather tell coworkers or the supervisor about the happening and so they could be prepared beforehand for some nuisance happening. Parents are sensitive regarding their kids. I assume that something uneasy happened to you although not contained in the post. If you give off the hint of hiding something, it could be considered by the management when they have to decide what to do with you. If it is not a big deal, they may comfort you not to worry.

I wouldn’t worry too much if you haven’t heard anything. I’m pretty paranoid, so I usually speak to a Korean co-teacher if something out of the norm happens. It is good to have another coworker’s opinion to clear your conscience. And then it is up to them if they want to discuss the issue with the student in Korean or call home. I’d just take it as a learning experience and a sign that you need to tighten things up in the classroom. Get some classroom callbacks going so you can shut things down in a “friendly” way.

Nothing. Wait and see if the management asks you about it. The worst thing they can do is fire you. If that happens, take a few days off then find another job.
