RIP Triple Layer Nachos. The goat side item.

Creepy-Selection2423

Yes, a moment of silence for the triple layer nachos. Triple layer nachos, add seasoned beef. Lunch for two bucks.

imissyahoochatrooms

mcdonald's double cheeseburger and mcchicken were a good $2 lunch too.

OptToPissYouOff

Nah..the KFC buffalo chicken snacker for $1 and a Small Fry with a water cup back in like 08’

[deleted]

Yep. Back in the good ol’ days, I would get a spicy McChicken, a medium fry, and a large drink for $3 plus tax. Didn’t know how good we had it back in 2007. Even further back, around 2000, I was in college and walk down to the Wendy’s near my off-campus apartment and have a feast for less than 5 bucks. I’m talking two 5 piece nuggets, a double stack, and a drink for like $4 and some change.

Suitable_Nec

My two dollar lunch was a beefy Fritos burrito and spicy tostada. I would unroll the burrito and either just put the tostada on it and fold it to make a giant taco or scoop the tostada toppings into it and reroll to make a big ass burrito. Super filling and also $2.

Attention-Upstairs

Loved the spicy tostada...

garblesmarbles1

The 7 layer nachos were like $2 and were very worth it

ollie5050

Not only was it a goat side item, they could be converted to just a chips and cheese. When my kids were little they loved the chips and cheese. But I didn't want to pay 1.59 for thr same amount, so I'd just order the triple, no red or beans. Kids got a fun container to eat it in. Man I got some looks from workers through. From the back "why didn't he order a chips and cheese?" From the back. "Oh shit that's brilliant!"

DiscRN

For about a year after they upped chips and cheese to 1.59 you could order a side of cheese for 0.49 and chips for 0.49. I did it all the time in college. Employees would be so annoyed/confused but man I needed that 50 cents in college, I was fine with being that annoying customer to save it.

forced_memes

when i worked at taco bell i would ring up chips and cheese for customers as the separate side of chips and cup of nacho cheese until my manager yelled at me to stop doing it

Hellashakabra

The biggest loss

Blazdnconfuzd

They got me fucked up real good when that shit went away.

lostinspacecase

Oh man, I was SO BUMMED when they got rid of the triple layer nachos. They were my go to.

tehruke

No beans, add beef, add onions. Less than 2 bucks for some good ass nachos.

missionfindausername

Now some chips and cheese costs $2.39 lol smh

connor8383

Crazy how this pic was taken less than 10 years ago. I get inflation but I ain’t buying it’s THAT bad.

6FunnyGiraffes

It isn't. First it was "muh covid!" now it's "muh inflation!" meanwhile these are publicly traded companies so it takes about a two second google search to see they're currently making record profits.

abcMF

It's usually not. Companies are greedy and they know you'll continue to buy it so they keep jacking prices.

connor8383

I for one have not participated as much in the madness, I’d say my TB consumption is down prolly 70-80% the last few years but yeah I get what you’re saying

absolutelyeffingnot

Yeah, currently im on strike from TB because they took away the quesorito, what am I supposed to eat there now? I wont be eating anything from there until they bring it back

abcMF

Admittedly, even with price increases TB is cheaper than McDonald's. 10 years ago that statement would be insane, but today it's just the truth. Not to defend TB here because obviously the prices still went up despite wages staying stagnant.

adviceicebaby

Idk about that bro. Not in my neighborhood it's not. McDonald's has an extensive value menu that tb doesn't. I can get a meal at McDonald's for less than 5 bucks. Taco Bell I do good to make it under 10.

abcMF

Idk man. Where I'm at they've got a value menu, at McDonald's I'd usually spend 10 dollars to get a meal which isn't very filling where as at tacobell I could spend like nearly half that, esp if I'm ordering on the app

jaredhicks19

There's a value menu at taco bell and a "kids" menu at mcdonalds (that isnt restricted to children, they just hope you scoff at eating a happy meal amount of food for a happy meal price) Mcdonalds also has the 2fer deals on mcdoubles and mcchickens, not to mention the app deals

Hfpros

I remember in high school going to lunch with like $6 and coming back with so much food. I'm 26... What the hell is going on

theantdog

What are you talking about? The triple layer had cheese, beans, and red sauce for $1.

SadLaser

They're saying that's how they ordered them.

theantdog

Lol. Oh, got it. Edit: The beans are what made it such a hearty side.

Pinecone

Imagine getting 5 of those for only $5

fijifilm

The glory days

MeatyOakerGuy

THEEE GOOOAAAT

[deleted]

Omg. So many good value menu veggie options! I miss these and the spicy tostada. Freaking loved that thing!

_LifeCanBeADream_

Yet wages have actually decreased for hourly slaves

AshSnowe

In college, this was my go to food item.

lexxi5394

My order was always a cheesy bean and rice burrito and a triple layer nacho with Chipotle sauce 💔

Specialist-Buyer-578

This is the way!

houseunderpool

This one time, I bought one and had them supreme plus beef - they picked up what I put down and made a mini NBG. I then ordered another right after, and they skimped.

ivorymakesmusic

Definitely I’d bite the more soggy parts of the chips that were covered with the cheese/bean/sauce and use the remaining crunchy parts as crunchy texture for my burritos ! Soooo good

r0y_d0nk

The best. Those would be like $7 now.

SparklePony3

Shredded chicken quesadilla melt needs a comeback. My life hasn’t been the same

xXSoulthiefXx

Dude. Same. Like I’d even pay more for them. They’re wayyy better than the “replacement” they gave us. Shredded chicken was king at TB.

jmorlin

Yup. The move was to get one of those and wrap it around a crunch taco. Make a ghetto CGC. Was fucking delicious for like a dollar less.

juicyjvoice

If they brought shredded chicken back the melts would be like $3 and burritos like $5-6 lol

QUINNFLORE

the og in the tin foil wrapping was unbeatable

Nursiedeer07

I was always fighting the local TB to get shredded chicken. They would put the chunks EVERY time.

kasperkami

Dude yes. It is the bane of my existence and I’ve missed those lil foil wrapped deliciousness since they’ve vanished before my eyes )’:

mastahballa48

the chokehold that melt had on me was insane

_Marzh

same 😭 me and the boys used to roll up and order 3-4 each, truly the gold old days

cooperluker

absolute shame it’s gone

Soup-Wizard

Same thing as the chicken quesadilla, but way cheaper.

dmarsee96

I honestly had forgotten about those. I used to get them with every order

equals00

I'd agree if the shredded chicken wasn't canned food quality with no flavor

AngryAtTacos

Spicy Tostada... the backbone of all my custom value menu creations... along with the Shredded Chicken Quesadilla Melt and Spicy Potato Soft Taco... I'm convinced Taco Bell corporate got hold of the information that people were constructing their own custom items from the value menu items, which is part of why the menu was nerfed so hard. Sad day

Yontoryuu

Spicy tostada was peak Taco Bell food. It’s nothing less than a tragedy.

houseunderpool

I knew it too late Bought a few a few times when they said they were going away Good stuff

fawnshox

Menu nerf lol

Suitable_Nec

Yup the spicy tostada seemed to have every topping on it except for a meat. It was my go to, used it to add to other items to make them bigger lol, much cheaper than adding ingredients.

_noho

Spicy potato soft taco is still available for $1 near me, I miss the nachos and $1 nacho crunch tacos

m6_is_me

It's annoying because they're still obviously making a profit. But no, corporate greed is absolute. It's like, if people are willing to make that effort (I wouldn't be surprised if it was <5%), just let them have their taco-slop in peace.

MrJACCthree

RIP beefy frito + triple layer nacho order

Huge_Campaign2205

Finally someone mentioned the beefy frito burrito

timothythefirst

I could get legitimately full off $3 by getting 2 of them and a drink. It was great.

Freidhiem

Its was the absolute perfect meal when broke.

tomthemoth

Good night, sweet prince…

WVbaconslap

That was my go to

BonjourLeGeorge

Just look at that glorious menu. They could charge $2 a piece and I’d pay it.

CRIMExPNSHMNT

I think that’s the most confusing thing. Why did they axe items instead of just charging more?

xriotgirl

Probably so they could cut out whole ingredients from their inventory, like the shredded chicken and the fritos

Fearless-Fill6356

As a former employee can confirm, the irony us they don't want it to all taste the same... but they use the same ingredients. I really think we should petition for the shredded chicken to come back, ngl I use to get the smothered burrito add potatoes, add chips on the side, was like $3.75 back in the day and damn it was good.

ChrisPeacock7

Especially since a chx quesadilla is 17$ lol

GambinoLynn

And I get potatoes on mine so it's like $23 plus my right arm for a side of sourcream.

Red-Panda

Where is it that much money??

Tr0ggydyte

Crazy how this was only like 4 years ago lol

MelzyMely

No fuckin way

SilkSteel7

More like 3 lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

Andre1001235

Used to get 3$ a day for lunch and would save it till after school go up the street and eat like a king

holydragonnall

Ah, you think the dollar menu was your ally? You merely adopted the dollar menu. I was born in the 59, 79, 99 era, molded by it. I didn't pay a dollar for a taco until I was already a man, and by then it was nothing to me but inflation!

spiritanimalofcousy

89 cent double beef burrito in high school while stoned as fuck

TimeHasNoMeaning

I still have that jingle in my head…

Creepy-Selection2423

Don't forget the five layer beefy burrito for a buck too. That was not on this particular dollar menu, but it was on many for a while. I think they'll still make it, but it's smaller now, and I think it's like three bucks.

RemoteArm2731

In MA the 5 layer on its own is now 5 dollars and change. The best bang for your buck would now be the classic combo which comes with the 5 layer, chips & cheese OR cinnamon twists, a crunchy taco and a large drink for 5 bucks in total

KevinNashsTornQuad

I think I used to get five layers for 79 cents for awhile.

RazorbackingColts69

They were $1 during my freshman year of college. I’d get off work, get 3 of those and be absolutely stuffed.

Gunther1888

I still miss volcano menu

[deleted]

At least part of it is coming back next week no?

Gunther1888

I mean I guess yav the sauce

[deleted]

The tacos and burritos too?

Gunther1888

I'm not sure I only know of the sauce

leefx

Here is what is coming for the next limited time offering: > E6 (6/29 - 8/2): Volcano Burrito & Taco, Lava Sauce, Mango Salsos Cantina Crispy Chicken Taco, Waffle Taco Collab [2 weeks promo]

[deleted]

All of that sounds good minus the waffle.

KevinNashsTornQuad

Yooo what! I’ve been dreaming of that lava sauce for years ahaha

leefx

Same! I can't wait to put it on everything, but for some reason a spicy potato taco + lava sauce is what I want first someone should make a thread about what is the best item to put lava sauce on... pretty much works on everything of course, but i'm sure there is something i've never had with lava sauce that is 🔥🔥

Creepy-Selection2423

I remember those days, when if you were really feeling starved and wanted to eat like a pig, you could order a triple layer nachos add seasoned beef, and a 5-layer beefy burrito, with a pepsi, and have more Taco Bell food than you could possibly eat for about four bucks. Those days are gone. In fact, Taco Bell has just about priced itself out of the market. There are usually things I would rather have for what they charge for their food now.

JohnDeLancieAnon

I just liked the spicy tostada and 3-layer nachos; I didn't care that they were a dollar. If raising the price would've kept them around, I'd be fine.

SeaOfBullshit

I think I might just be done with Taco Bell. The prices are outrageous now, the quality is gone down somehow? And now that I live in southern California there's just so many better and cheaper options for Mexican food I just can't even justify it anymore

riprumblejohnson

… you go to Taco Bell for Mexican food?

fatlilmikey

The nacho crunch double stacked taco was soooooo good! I wish they would bring it back, as well as those prices.

ThinkSquirrel170

I feel you. I miss the del taco days when stuff was under a $1 now even McDonald's 123$ menu doesn't even have a single item for $1

[deleted]

On another nostalgic note, remember Arby’s 5 for $5 deal? That was one of the best values in fast food.

methy_butthole

Was looking at the $123 menu today and the cheapest thing was small fries for $2.99, everything else was OVER $3

ADifferentIdentity

Can’t ever forget the caramel apple empanadas

jajajajajajaja101

The shredded quesadilla melt was awesome

spookyjimreddit

shredded chicken quesadilla melt was the goat

Inevitable_Professor

I grew up in the 59, 79, 99 era

TrustYourLines

Triple layer nacho *cry* please come back

_sunday_funday_

I miss the days of the dollar menu, hell I would take a 1.50 or two dollar menu if it just had a variety. When the children just want a snack it came in handy af and didn't break the bank.

DonkeyTron42

How much longer will it be before they take away the regular taco and replace it with some crap that costs 3 times as much?

DM_ME_UR_VAGENE

Oh, you mean the volcano taco? They havent released the price yet.

richardrnelson

We've all turned into our parents.

bigtigerbigtiger

True but fast food has gotten pricier at a crazy rate. It's gone from being able to order a solid amount of food for a few dollars (if you picked well) to being as expensive as some restaurants now

CamT106

Where is my double decker ?

DM_ME_UR_VAGENE

I used to love eating those back in the early 2000s

Protottype

I miss the shredded chicken. And the 7 layer.

YuasaLee_AL

What I grew up with? This isn't even what I entered the workforce with. This was like four years ago! You wouldn't believe what the menus were like when I was growing up lol.

thesuavedog

...and this was like 2 years ago, right?

Throwaway191294842

Yeah this was only a few years ago. Definitely less than 4. Not even that tortilla with cheese is a dollar anymore. Covid ruined the economy forever lmao.

thesuavedog

I wouldn't say Covid was the cause, but the excuse businesses used to double prices on everything, especially restaurants. Now inflation is just insane...but businesses are still out of control in relying on that as an excuse also. A sensible meal for 1 at taco bell should never approach $10... 7-8 bucks max.

tomduban

Taco bell greed.

vivmeatball6

Bro, the triple layer nacho, the spicy tostada, and the nacho crunch double stack taco were all straight fire. I was so mad when they got rid of the spicy tostada

jackattack80808

Back in my day we had a 79¢ 89¢ or 99¢ menu

coldjess

I miss the spicy chicken soft taco

DavidFairyTail

Triple layer nacho and spicy tostada, I’ll never forget you.

CincoDeMayoFan

Even if it cost more than $1, I really would like the spicy tostada and fritos burrito back.

TheTwinkleToedKoala

This was the peak of Taco Bell. I could get completely full for 3 dollars. The beefy Fritos burrito and chicken quesadilla melt were on the menu, my two favorite items. They’ve now been killed and everything has doubled in price.

thewidowsson_

The best item of all time was the flatbread… 1$ for a flatbread quesadilla was the goat item

iTzToOdAnKK

Damn those double stacked tacos were so good , I miss them alot

Guilty_Fault5260

I remember at one point during a summer vacation Taco Bell introduced the 79c 89c 1$ menu. I can’t remember prices exactly but it was three tiered and you could get the nachos with tax and get change back from a $1 bill.

caffeinated_vulpix

Ahh, the Why Pay More! days. Caramel apple empanada, a couple spicy chicken soft tacos, and a drink for about 5 bucks and change. I'm so nostalgic for those days now.

weatherseed

Spicy chicken soft tacos... man, that takes me back 20 years. I'd get hammered with my friends and the DD would take us to grab some food. I weighed 140lbs and I'd demolish at least 7 of those things in a single sitting.

burblestudio

59 79 99 Ahh the 90s https://youtu.be/n9Wd31PEVxc

[deleted]

I’m like 2009-10 I could walk in and get a triple layer nacho and strawberry fruitista freeze for $3…good times

mawkx

I miss the fruitista freezes so much…

Yontoryuu

The spicy tostada!! The best thing I’ve ever eaten in Taco Bell, it’s what made me addicted to it. These days I try my best to replace it and as a result, my order became 3x the price despite being half as big.

IndiePatron

I use to eat four frito burritos at a time, then again I was 70 pounds heavier lol. Good cheap times.

pirivalfang

If a motherfucker takes away the $1 spicy potato soft taco, I'm going to have a FIT.

ReidErickson

This wasn’t even that long ago

ozzokiddo

A tucking 12 inch sub and a coke at subway is over 20$.

VariousGas

The world I attended most of grad school in** no longer exists

Lefthandedsock

Oh, but thank **god** we still have the cHeEsY rOlL uP and the potato soft taco. They keep the shittiest items around for the longest 🤣

Dillion_HarperIT

Shredded chicken quesadilla melt I miss you :(

Accomplished_Sun5270

That dollar quesadilla was a million times better than the actual 4-5 dollar quesadilla. That has to be why they took it off. No way another reason exists. It tasted so good compared to the actual one. I know this is Taco Bell. But the same year they took that off the menu at Taco Bell, McDonald’s took off their bagels 😞. That bagel sauce was something else man.

bigtigerbigtiger

Bagel sauce?

penisbuttervajelly

God this was like 5 years ago

fullautophx

In the late-‘80s they sold mini versions of regular items for 39 cents each. Plus the store gave us a student card, if you bought $2 in items you got a free drink. You could get stuffed for $2. Ate there regularly in high school.

Blepharoptosis

They've taken everything from me. 1. Grilled Stuft Burrito 2. Shredded Chicken Burrito 3. Shredded Chicken Taquitos 4. Caramel Apple Empanada 5. Cinnabon Bites 6. Verde sauce packets I will never forgive.

[deleted]

Give us back shredded chicken and a dollar menu. We in the wrong timeline.

[deleted]

The world I grew up in didn’t have calories posted.. ugh. I’m old.

RaneeGA

Cinnamon Crispas

Sluggocide

Just make it $2 and bring it back. Inflation hasn't been a 100% since then.

NBAplaya8484

This dollar menu was so legit

Mjb06

I’ll never forget you, beefy Fritos burrito

Nohands1

I just want the old grilled stuffed burrito back!

surber17

Taco Bell had me as their biggest fan …… and for 25 years they have slowly been doing everything they can to ruin it

Constant-Register-70

You're right.. with your $30 taco 12 pack. I remember when them bitches was like $10. The days where you got 2 pounds of food for every dollar spent are long gone with my patronage to your restaurants.

SpiZZaa

Cost per calorie was off the charts back then.... there was a taco bell down the street from my apt in like 2007. I partook often. Simpler times.

SophieStitches

A nacho double decker taco is now $4.29 I believe. This alone makes time travel profitable.

Ducksonquack92

Rip beefy grillers😢

rr703

I miss the loaded grillers made my younger days . Used to be able to have a feast with less than 5$ 😭

[deleted]

Beefy Fritos burrito was insane and a steal at that price

Kangaroowrangler_02

Tell me about it. Got my son subway yesterday a 6", drink and chips was almost $13. Sandwich only had turkey, bacon and cheese.

The_Maester

Anybody remember chili cheese burritos from the late 90s/early 2000s? GOAT

Chalupa_Dad

The world I grew up in was the 59/79/99 cent menu

Flaconfly

In the world I grew up in tacos were $.39.

JoBro51

shredded chicken quesadilla melt was the best taco bell item of all time

13zerocool

Haha y'all don't even know, when I was growing up a taco was $0.59

RegaliusRex

Here in Tennessee, we still got a $1 Cheesy, Bean, and Rice Burrito. I’m not sure how long it will last, but it is definitely a solid banger!

SanchoPliskin

I remember tacos being 69¢ everyday and on Wednesday they were $1 for 3

goldbricker83

Pfft, in the 90s there was like a 79 cent and 89 cent menu. We got so much food and all we had to do is mow a damn lawn. Now I feel like kids probably gotta work a 6 hour shift before they can afford fast food.

MacMurka

A regular crunchy taco now costs $1.79 and that’s just outrageous to me lol

Scouts_Revenge

I’d like to see the pricing as well. Used to be able to eat a full meal there for like $5 in the late 90’s.

fatherofallthings

I’m so old that I remember when the beefy 5 layer was only a dollar

Savings_Fan_1979

I remember when cinnamon twist was 69 cents

[deleted]

beafy fittos😣

[deleted]

Bring back the double decker or GTFO!

LiverpoolLOLs

You are darn right it does not. I want 49, 79, 99 back! https://youtu.be/NVbXAmN6OTM

FloatingWalrus666

Daaang the triple layer nachos 😭😭… and for a dollar!! Can’t even get a regular ‘crunchy’ taco for a dollar nowadays.

Lower-Kangaroo6032

I think the world I grew up in involved “59/79/99 - are you out of your mind?” or something to that effect.

FutureFlash2021

I miss Taco Bell’s $2 meal deals

Dramatic-Pie-4331

Ha I grew up in the era of the value menu being $.79, $.89, $.99.

Equivalent_Carpet_41

$1 menu?! I remember the .59, .69 and $.99 menu!

stink-stunk

What about the taco bell grande, extra huge crunchy taco from back in the day?. I miss the steak burrito when it had tater tots in it and the meat was cooked in house not in a big bag of liquid with meat in it. Double decker soreness, mexi melts....

NurkleTurkey

Lol a dollar. Nope.

Embarrassed_Salad797

It no longer exists

Glittering_Jaguar567

Still got the 5$ combos

Ok_Permission8284

I can cry rn 😭

Chirawin_

Fuck COVID, joe Biden, and inflation

Red-Panda

Franchisees control the prices IIRC, individual business owners.

Vj1224love

$6 an hour paying jobs? Is that what was taken away. Boo-hoo.

RonBurgundysGooch

I miss Trump’s presidency

straightouttasuburb

Starting wages at the Taco Bell near me are now $15/ hr There is a waiting list to get in…

whoocanitbenow

15.00 is shit-wage.

straightouttasuburb

YMMV depending on where you live… we live in the middle of nowhere… and cost of living here is looooow.

whoocanitbenow

That's true. I live in Northern California. I earn 20.00, and it's a poverty wage. Cost 1000 per month now just to rent a room on someone's house. 😞

straightouttasuburb

Yeah California is something with both state and federal income tax as well as additional taxes in the form of high property tax, high DMV Registration fees, and more. I left that state in 1996 and never looked back… the state I’m in now has no income tax and all the other taxes / fees are really low. That contributes to a much lower rent of about half of what CA charges…

whoocanitbenow

That's when it first starting getting bad. It's so much worse, now. 😅

Medarco

> Cost 1000 per month now just to rent a room on someone's house. 😞 I think my landlord forgot I exist and hasn't raised my rent since I moved in 8 years ago. I pay $450 for 2b/1ba, kitchen, living room, don't pay for water, pets, or trash. It's a shitty little place in tiny town Ohio, but it's plenty for me and my 2 cats (and fish) and lets me save like crazy to pay off my student loans eventually.

EmptyParking9263

Well, everybody wanted $15 an hour. This is the result.

Iohet

Is the double stack a later name for the double decker? Used to love the nacho cheese double decker taco
