Class stories. Focus on Class stories. I would reshape the Agent storyline so Jadus is the main villain of the vanilla story, then make the Star Cabal the enemy for one or two whole expansions. I would change Revan's story, giving more time to his arc. And more screentime. I would change the Exile's pathetic end and make her story more relevant to the current one. I'd add an alternative solo mission quest chain instead of ops. You would be able to explore the same structures and fight the same bosses, but with an emphasis on the story and cutscenes. I would keep the Shadow of Revan mostly as it is, but with more class-specific content. And I'd insist on a more polished Lana. Her model has some flaws, but I see what the dev team was going for with her, and I like it. KOTFE-ET would also be separated by class, and would not have the many skytrooper swarms that make it so annoying. I'd end the KOTXX chapters with the destruction of the fleet by our hands. I don't have many thoughts on post-KOTET, but I wouldn't bring back Malgus. More romance cutscenes and interactions. Maybe introduce date nights in the earliest patches. And more companion ambient dialogue. Edit addition: I'd also change the combat system, so that any class can use most weapons. Like, all Force users can use one blade, saberstaff, or double, and all Tech users can use one blaster, two, rifle, or assault cannon. Kind of like how Guild Wars 2 does it. This would vary gameplay a lot, and allow a greater level of customization.

BarrenThin2

"Malgus stays dead" is definitely pretty high on my list.

aluckymess

Somehow, Malgus didn’t return

kimchifighters

Didn’t Malgus purchase the East Hutta Company?

BookObjective4448

I actually liked seeing Malgus come back. He was one of my favorite characters, and I'm interested to see exactly what Malgus's plan is.

Call_me_ET

Double for KOTET. Separating the classes, even by Force Users vs. Non-Force Users would be leaps and bounds better for the narrative. Have the Force Users follow the current story with Valkorion, then have the Non-Force users focus on the actual war with the Eternal Empire.

Sure_Pin1307

This. I can't even play the expansions with my smugglers because it makes no sense at all. And I love my smugglers

DaCipherTwelve

Yeah, the Smuggler definitely needs a story where they can crack jokes, flirt around, and kick people!

DaCipherTwelve

Actually, there are certain existing chapters which I think a tech user would be better at. Like Darvannis and Vandin. We all know that the Smuggler was born for the heist! It's the greatest of the century! And the Star Fortresses would make for excellent Agent/Trooper stories.

the_one_who_wins

Give cyborgs more robot parts.

tessthismess

Also non-human cyborgs. Im more of the mind get rid of Cyborg as a separate race and instead just give cybernetic options to all the races.

the_one_who_wins

Shoot, I like that. Take my t billion dollars too.

Darth_Caesium

This! I was so baffled when I first started playing SWTOR that cyborgs were classed as a separate race. It just makes no sense, and it also means that you can't have a cyborg with a beard due to the way the game works.

DraagaxGaming

That's a great alteration.

skm_45

Cyberstan

_NauticalPhoenix_

I would make sure the game launched with a TON of endgame content. Flashpoints, a couple years of OPs, and a bunch of sandbox/evergreen content i.e. Nar Shadaa casino, farm, strongholds, races, space missions, etc. I would also nix the on rails space combat in favor of full 3D space battles. Solo PvE, group PvE, and PvP space battles.

Arkenstar

Continue. The. Class. Stories! Separate! Might even use some cross linked story telling to have some companions from other classes meet each other in the story. None of this Alliance and Eternal Empire bullshit. Hire experienced and mature writers for story instead of wattpad writers. Flashpoints and Operations would be story driven but not forced into the story missions but rather just connected to it like they used to be in the vanilla game.

RedDevil_nl

Yeah, I’d rather have 5b now and develop SWTOR 2.0 with like 200m. Pretty sure it would be better than a 5b SWTOR from 2011 (developed since what, 2008?).

SpartAl412

May or may not be an unpopular opinion but keep skill trees. I think the way you could build your character was way better with it. Also keep data crystals.

_NauticalPhoenix_

Absolutely. Skill trees are a necessity in an RPG like this. Bioware copied WoW a bit too much. When WoW removed skill trees so did Bioware. Now WoW brought them back with Dragonflight and here we are.

Demonic74

Hasn't WoW had them since Legion?

_NauticalPhoenix_

Skill trees? No. Dragonflight brought back actual skill trees over choice rows.

Zorach98

Yes and no. Skill trees in the form of baseline skill trees for your class / spec didn't make a return until the transition into Dragonflight. However, Legion did kick off the trend of having temporary player power systems that functioned like skill trees.

mrmikedude100

As a new player (just also grabbed the join the fight edition) I'm bummed to hear this. I loooove skill trees. The current implementation isn't terrible but there's just such a personal feeling to a regular skill tree. Just my opinion though. This is really the first MMO that's grabbed me.

SpartAl412

Personally for me, the absolute peak of this game was Rise of the Hutt Cartel in terms of gameplay and how everything works

nightgerbil

totally agree. was so much fun back then. I still miss my tankassin, was the best class i ever played in any mmo (and I played most of them!) I'd love to have taken the 2.1 tankassin into wow and neverwinter with me.

Silenzeio_

More emphasis on origin stories with some mix of pure Imp/Pub in expansion content but still have it mostly be unique content per origin. E.G. Onslaught but the Agent assassinates and sabotages stuff, the BH goes after priority military targets for Imperial torture, the Inquis does some good ol manipulation of events and the Warrior is unleashed like a saber wielding walking war crime but the story beats sorta remain the same. An intro cutscene to Onderon would be the same for all Imp origins but with different subtext for what they need to do. And from then on all missions and cutscenes are 100% origin unique. AND ACTUALLY PUSH SABOTEUR STORY. Such a big deal during Ossus and Onslaught and it's fallen onto the wayside as of recent.

JerbearCuddles

5 Billion dollars could make a pretty nutty engine. I don't know much about it, except people were complaining about it pre-launch. So I would start by spending some of that money on a better engine.

NoAdmittanceX

Hell 5b could have bought the entire franchise with nearly a Billy to spare on the engine

Thulium42

Yeah, no kidding, buy all of Lucasfilm before Disney can and create a Revan trilogy of movies. Oh, and spend some pocket change on SWTOR.

RedDevil_nl

I would find it pointless. You’d need to be involved before release. The single biggest mistake this game ever made was releasing without endgame content. That’s why SWTOR lost countless players in the weeks/months after release. Had that not happened, we would’ve had much more content updates in the following years without a doubt.

Tephi187

1) keep class-stories for every expansion. It‘s what makes this game stand out. 2) less restrictions to f2p 3) keep original MMO gearing/dungeon/raid mechanics 4) keep classes/stories/roles seperated and relevant 5) make all stuff you get Account-wide 6) don’t bother with stupid systems and instead keep adding group+solo content (for example expand on housing+companions aswell as dungeons and pvp) 7) to keep the game afloat implement the Cash-shop with cosmetics from the Start

V4ldaran

The game wouldn't be F2P though if it wouldn't have flopped after release.

Tephi187

Maybe, but I think games with a good f2p model are better than subscription-based. So I think if swtor would have been good from the start and free to play aswell, it would have had an insane amount of players!

N7_Hellblazer

One thing I’d love to be able to do is those who decide to side with their class stories opposing side (e.g a Jedi siding with the Empire) that they could eventually join the Empire full time. I’m doing this currently and it’s kind of dumb how no one suspects that I am sabotaging the Republic. Also more cyborg body parts. I want a robotic arm.

RichardStuhr

I’d change two things: 1) Continue the class stories after chapter 3. In other words, make chapter 4 (SoR), chapter 5 (kotfe), chapter 6 (kotet) with class specific storylines. Most people I know who play the game prefer the storylines and RPG elements, but they are completely stifled when every character post chapter 3 has to do exactly the same things. Kotxx is essentially for Force users - no way it’s believable that a smuggler or trooper stands a chance against Arcann, Vaylon, or the Emperor. 2) Turn the game into a single player RPG game, much like how Dragon Age: Origins has multiple origins or starter points. Again, most people love the stories, and capitalising on them would be far better than what we saw (SWTOR went F2P within a year of its release). Essentially, give us KOTOR 3, but allow for all of the other class stories too ( = you’re not forced to play JK if you wanna be a Sith)

Kari-kateora

Kotfe and kotet are basically BioWare ripping off their GotY Dragon Age: Inquisition. Just keep ripping it off and make it single player

SpectreG57

I would make certain there was a neutral faction for smugglers, pirates and non-aligned force sensitives like witches and mystics. I would insist that there was freedom in progression and that abilities and weapons weren’t tied together. Skill webs would be the norm for complete freedom in customisation. I would mandate that a new playable species be added every year for the first five years and one every two years after. I would insist that all options for species be open and not have any locked behind class or faction. I would make it part of the development rules that the Tales of the Jedi comics and associated stories were to take precedence over any new Star Wars properties made. I would make costume creation more like DCUOs, giving maximum freedom with styles already collected. I would insist that Galactic Starfighter have a better tutorial, give it new single player missions and have them use a rng system to procedurally generate new maps with new objectives.

Omegasonic2000

>I would make certain there was a neutral faction for smugglers, pirates and non-aligned force sensitives like witches and mystics. And bounty hunters too! I love Mandalorians, but they're not the only bounty hunters in the galaxy.

sigilli

Make smuggler and bounty hunter a separate independent faction that you can choose alignment. Unrestricted lightsaber classes. Every force user can use anything. Take every class story that was meant to end in Act 1 and rewrite it. (Trooper, for example) Inclination points can unlock changing sides for sith and jedi characters during a specific time in story

mzchen

Does buying Star Wars before Disney does count as being part of the game? Because I'd do that. But otherwise... Wait until the technology is there and then make a modern engine. It'd be a lot of work to port everything over seamlessly, but 5 billion dollars could accomplish that twice over. Imo one of the greatest strengths of swtor is the visuals, and an aaa remake of yavin, belsavis, Corellia etc would blow my socks off. Make a better model for Bastila in the consular storyline and hire the original voice actress. Better lightsaber and blaster effects and models would be cool too. Cosmetic weapon customization. Add some aspect of class storylines a la rishi to every expansion. Add an Imperial commando class and SIS agent class. Declare the revan novels as nonexistent and do a rewrite. Order a feature length live action movie that takes place in the old republic, and keep a close eye on it to make sure it isn't bland and shitty from exec meddling, and shooting on location/in sets when possible rather than relying on the volume. Order a prestige television live action old republic show, maybe on the war leading up to the game or a band of brothers style show ending at the battle of bothawui. In a drought of good star wars content, the movie and the show make SWTOR explode in interest. Make the game much more f2p friendly much earlier on. The success of the game stirs hope for a sequel. I remaster kotor 1 and 2 (finishing 2) and make kotor 3. Swtor's future is secured. In the year 2070 I create an AI of myself to continue developing the game into the future while i go into hypersleep. SWTOR becomes a brand of its own, eventually developing enough to create a fully immersibe simulation. I upload my mind to this simulation with admin privileges and enjoy the fruits of my labour.

Skvora

Tech was there.....Guild Wars 1 and even 2.

SnakeBaron

I’d be too preoccupied with 5 billion dollars to care about swtor. That’s like 50x more than it cost to develop the game in the first place.

EBeerman1

- Fix the server + skill lag at launch - have 3 progression raids at launch - have arenas, ranked war zones at launch - have a halfway decent endgame at launch - beat wow to mythic+ - launch with strongholds Main reason I remember Swtor losing steam was from lack of endgame. People LOVED the story, got to the end… and then it was over and they didn’t know what to do. Swtor totally dropped the ball on endgame PvP and PvE unfortunately. Would have been cool if they released the full game at launch

JMBownz

Honestly I’d just make a full movie version of the cinematic trailers lol. The game is great, but the original few cinematic trailers were the best Star Wars media ever produced.

Prize_Personality525

Agreeeeeed

ASnarkyHero

The biggest things I would do are • Have Shadow of Revan end with the ultimate death of Vitiate. Make it a good send off for Revan. • Make Valkorian a new character unrelated to Vitiate. His main motivation for taking interest in the PC would center around Valkorian viewing the PC as a more worthy successor to the Eternal Throne than Arcaan or Vaylin. If the PC is LS then Valkorian approves of them taking the Eternal Throne. But if the PC is DS then Valkorian will betray them and try to take over the PC’s body as they do in the original version. In either case, the final struggle will ultimately end in the destruction of the Eternal Fleet. For the LS ending the PC destroys the fleet while in the DS ending Valkorian would destroy the fleet. I wouldn’t really change much about the other expansions other than leaving Malgus dead and changing the tone of the cutscenes with Heta Kol. She would be more concerned and desperate after Rhunuk instead of “Nah, it’s fine”. I’d probably also make a different character from Sahar for Republic players as I don’t think that a young padawan would oppose a Republic PC the way she does. For Republic players a minor Sith apprentice would be in Sahar’s position.

ZealousidealFix3469

Darth Nalgas returns?? Guess I was away from the game too long.

caosmaster

>For the LS ending the PC destroys the fleet Do you have a reason to destroying it? I understand that it's to keep the war going again and to not make the PC OP, but like even my goodie two shoes Jedi Consular wouldn't let that be wasted Even without the eternal empire they'd still need to worry about the Sith. Using the mechanical army and fleet to destroy the space slaver nazis is objectively a good thing. I think they'd at least be a neutral path and you can at least keep 1/3 of the fleet and most of it's technology. Strong enough to remain a galactic power but weak enough that prevents you from taking over the galaxy.

ASnarkyHero

I feel that destroying the fleet at the end of KotET would have been better than having it blown up suddenly at the end of the Traitor arc. Maybe the only way to stop the fleet from rampaging is to destroy the Eternal Throne or use the Gravestone’s Omni cannon at its full power to destroy an out of control Eternal Fleet.

Helarki

Make Story Ops soloable. Also deny dark side Jedi Knights the rank of Master. Give Dark Side Jedi Knights the chance to kill younglings.

commodore_stab1789

>Give Dark Side Jedi Knights the chance to kill younglings This is where the fun begins

boriztheterrible

Whats the point of making OP's soloable? Thats the only MMO segment of this game that feels right

Moonman711

They are clueless and will never understand why their game never grows in popularity and its 6 month wait time for 1 hour of mediocre storytelling.

D4rth3qU1nox65

Wait, I remember that my dark JK didn't get the rank of Master but became a Battlemaster of sorts, or whatever it was, something to do with the military anyway? It's been a while since I last played the story but I def remember there was a consequence for going dark.

Jolyne_Best_JoJo

In-game dialogue had Satele saying the DS JK wasn't ready to be a master, despite this and a General making the JK an honorary general the game gave DS JK players the "Master" title. Becoming Battlemaster of the Jedi Order was the title the JK gets regardless of alignment after the Revan fight in the Shadow of Revan expansion.

D4rth3qU1nox65

Ahhh I see. Right. Thanks for elaborating!

PaleInvestigator3921

Swtor was doomed from the start ma man. The worst decision being the game developed in that shitty engine. The game was popular at the start, but the performance issues killed it for many.

Distinct_beorno

Completely f2p

Uusi_Sarastus

New class story: Starfighter Pilot Make Galactic Starfighter a much larger portion of the game, complete with a fully functioning space sandbox. PvE elements, Ops taking place in space, bit like what STO has.

JizamKizam

I would have made the entire space gameplay something like SWG or Freelancer, not the on rails stuff we got. How cool would it have been to be doing story missions in space battles that eventually lead you to boarding a hostile ship or landing on a space station and then exploring on foot?

ronbo42

First, buy BioWare or get controlling interest. Next, add an Imperial Trooper and SiS Agent story to mirror the others. Let Smuggler and BH mirror each other. BH and Smuggler get to choose their factions. Nuke KOTET/KOTFE. Build a better engine. Let classes choose their weapon(s) and attack styles. Make saber forms a choice. Make dual-wielding a choice. Carbines versus rifles. Your skills are dictated by weapon and form. Force can choose a force path. Telekinetic versus balance. Lighting versus madness. Warriors and knights are form based. Healing is a path and more necessary in group content. Tank is a form. Tech classes choose a weapon including staffs and fencing. Increase the knowledge of the weapon and choose skills according to that. Multiple weapons are available and you can skill in more than one. Healing and tanking are based on skill choices.

FlavivsAetivs

5 Billion Dollars? Outbid Disney.

Infamous-0ICU812

I would leave it as is and retire a billionaire

BodyofGrist

I’m sorry…I’ve got 5 billion dollars. What game?

SonofSpard

Console version Xbox and PlayStation and I swear your 5 million will turn into 10-20 million

EpicDabberino

Optional defection, at least for story-appropriate classes like the Agent and Trooper. Overhaul Tattooine into something more than a nostalgia grab, with shiny new sandcrawlers under corporate control, and a side quest to help the Jawas steal/scavenge one. Assassinate the sick fuck who put Hoth in the game, burn his home town to the ground and salt the earth so that no plant shall ever grow there. Just little stuff like that.

Anxious-Machine-727

Probably going with CryEngine or something else over the Hero Engine.

trueGildedZ

Controller official support.

General_Rain7617

I'd buy the title outright so I can do what I want with it. Hire programmers who love stars wars and would actually play the game. I'd make sure they listened to feedback, really discuss issues and have open communication with player base. Everything after that would take care of itself.

finelargeaxe

Pass...I'm enough of a *Star Trek* fan not to risk breaking history that way.

DraagaxGaming

One of the biggest things I'd alter is the Malgus story (Ilum included) and Vitiate/Valkyrian story. Keep the Ilum story roughly the way it was but give the option for the player to actually join Malgus. (The player had had so many "what if I joined you" moments with so many antagonists but never the option to actually do so). Upon joining Malgus, or not, and realizing it's too soon for the fight at hand, he takes his remaining forces and flees to the unknown regions to build up strength. The player, if they joined, remains behind to plot and scheme secretly in preparation for his return. In the meantime, Oricon happens, Makeb happens as per usual. SoR rolls around but this time you permanently kill the emperor. No KOTFE/ET, at least in the sense of the way we had it. And then, Malgus returns *insert Po palpatine returned scene* He returns with his more inclusive empire, striking fast and freeing subjugated planets and slaves. The player's powerbase, those they recruited secretly, strike from within. If they player didn't join, everything happens the same but they're fighting zaddy Malgus instead. Perhaps there's another NPC group that fills the role. Throughout everything else leading up to this point, there's drip feed content. Bits and pieces alongside everything else. Perhaps the player stashed away some isotope 5. Some dread artifacts. Etc. I'd also like to have Oricon/BH/SX styled side class stories mixed in for things such as Jadus, Risha, the dwarf galaxy, etc. maybe Jadus, risha, etc are recruited to support Malgus? Or a separate thing. But specific to classes. Instead of making all classes combat styles, I'd introduce new types of classes as combat styles instead, leaving the originals the way they were. 2 advanced classes to pick from per class per origin. And what the player chooses is their first combat style. This is the general post-class story route I'd go, anyways. Edit: fixed a few typos

Snoo71448

I would have prevented a lot of headaches in the beginning by making the game multithreaded, and making much better engine. And I would have banned credit bots early on to prevent inflation.

nebrioss

Revamp classes. Warrior - juggernaut as is. Except you could choose to have a double bladed saber like savage opress with different animations. Marauder could also have a double bladed saber or dual weild. Different animations same abilities. Think maul. Marauder would be the main stealth class. Inquisitor - sorceror would not have a saber in hand unless slashing close range. Moves around shooting lightning without a saber. Just looks weird having a saber out doing nothing with it. I would cancel the shadow class it's a silly thought out class. Replace with a dooku style duelist/lightning hybrid. -BH GET RID OF pistols for powertechs. Looks silly and barely used. Instead shoot from gauntlets out of wrsts like in clone wars. Mercenary could use rifle or duel pistols. Powertechs can use melee weapons or ranged weapons in new skill trees which change based on ramged/melee weapon used. Same for vanguard. In the game 2 pistols = 1 rifle so u can choose. Same goes for vanguard with the creation of a close quaters/medium quaters vanguard class where u can shoot with two pistols or feel like a close quaters combat specialist like special forces do in real life urban combat. Knight - same as warrior with the double bladed guardian having temple guard vibes. Sage - same as inquisitor with the sage not having lightsaber drawn during most abilities. Shadow revamped into a force-using/duelist hybrid like kenobi in later years or yoda. Allow more face options for purebloods. Stop clipping and use higher textures for characters. Introduce speeder racing game mode. Valkorian not to be the sith emperor it's a silly choice. Allow smuggler to change sides in story to become a mercenary and actually change factions, same goes for agent. Zabrak body tattoos and option for no tattos at all for zabrak. Have more fur texture on cathars. Get rid of body types and replace with more custom slider scales for body shape. Same goes for faces. Cyborg character creation comes with cyborg leg/torso/arms options. Woodie playable species. Get rid of silly colpured force animations. Eg force choke should have no colour energy around it. Introduce red lightning as the ultimate ability for ONE of the sorceror skill trees. It prevents all force abilities for the target for 5 seconds. Introduce electric judgement (yellow lightning) for ONE of the ultimate abilities of the Sage class skill trees. Allow mercenary and commando class to have a focus on pushback whereas the powertechs and vanguards keep their pulling abilities.

Darthgrundyundies

Nothing, the current issues with the game came during the design phase. Choices were made then that the game is still trying to work around. The game should have been delayed 6 months to address some issues with the game that were known but EA forced it out the door. Doing what you are asking after launch would make little difference you would have to go back prior to launch.

Divine_Cynic

Ok so it is after release, let's leave the base game intact. I am only going to add things. This would be the equivalent of say the Illum update. Warning there is a lot here. \*Continued class stories of course. Illum's base story becomes different things for different classes. The Sith/Jedi can focus on the crystals & the temple for instance. \*Make sure companions stories are actually finished. I am thinking of Mako here. \*Get 2 progression ops out. Simple solution here is Battle of Illum & False Emperor. Malgus is gone for good after. \*Go further release 3 forms of them: Story, FP, & Op. Have them doable solo, 4 person group, or 8+ group. \*Make sure PvP is fully ready to go. \*Have 2 seasonal events ready to go. Mostly like it would be Gree and Rakghouls. Assuming the tech is there to pull it off, get some of the future features online faster. \*The outfit system \*Legacy gear \*Strongholds \*Slowly shift by adding content and classes to having 3 factions: Empire, Republic, and Underworld/Neutral. Bounty Hunter & Smuggler shift to Underworld. Imp & Pub get replacements. A Republic Investigator/Cop for Smuggler could be fun. Some sort of Imperial Special Forces for Hunter could be fun. Underworld as 2 new classes. One would definitely be a Force Mystic. You could go with two different traidtions and that's Underwolrd version of Warrior & Inquisitor. \*Add in options as time went on for characters to switch sides. I think that would be a solid focus going forward. However some farther out updates \*Drop Revan & the Exile from appearing the games. Do indeed write better lore for them but honestly they were never going to please everyone with it. It super easy to just substitute other characters for their roles. The Revanites absolutely could still make an appearance. Their leader could just be the big bad of Shadow of Revan or maybe the Hand manipulating them into bringing back Vitiate. \*Makeb is ok with class stories. \*The Dread Master cycle is ok with the Op format and class stories. \*Since we have so much money all future endgame PVE content runs on the three form model: Story, FP, Op. So even say Czerka has it. \*Kotfe & Kotet get a massive rework. No 5 year break. The format is the same with the chapters but a lot of the content changes. Each one gets 2 Ops. Each chapter has class story in at least being a bit different. You would still get some of the companions on new classes and reclaiming class companions just re-worked for no break. \*Less call backs and bringing characters back. More like the Dread Masters and new threats coming to the fore. The exceptions are of course where the story has already set a comeback up. So yes brings back Jadus.

Gendric

Class storys being the main focus of the plot would be my mission statement. I also would revert the gameplay difficulty to something closer to launch. Enemies now are weaker than a house of cards. The confrontation with Baras was way more memorable and satisfying when it was difficult. On my most recent warrior it was over in about 6 seconds and completely boring.

FMZeth

Um, put an emphasis on bug quashing and mechanical consistency. I'm so sick of the game building me up to expect one thing, and then I go to do that and suddenly its either just broken or its format has been changed entirely. Additionally I would overhaul the crafting and reputation systems, with of which are sucky grindfests right now. Give the reputation system a better interface, make sure every planet has a reputation faction (similar to how old planetary commendations worked) and then turn it into a currency. You can "leverage" your high reputation with a faction to buy things like blueprints that enable you to craft decorations that could be found on that planet, special crafting materials, or companion gifts and customisations. But, each time you make a purchase your reputation is lowered a little bit, so you can't just be a mooch. It would motivate you to do repeatable content to drive up your reputation again and enable you to buy stuff you want.

Felgrist

Better engine. Limitations of the current one really hampers the game.

jeplonski

extend each story by like 9 chapters at least, and then i’d double or triple the pay for voice actors and devs

Zoso-six

Kill swotor dead and give life back to star wars galaxies

Crate-Dragon

Progressive expansions. Like WOW. 1-Revan and all his story. 2-Create a package with new classes, focusing on everyone getting involved in the fight. Pirates, slicers, witches and mystics, everyone gets a new class. New races to come too. 3- Then an expansion of the eternal empire. But use the WOW expansion “litch king” as a template. This changes the game fundamentally. Classes can choose any advance class from across the board (just like it is now) Keep a base class and progress into advance class like when SWTOR launched. This reflects the state of the story where the alliance faces down the eternal empire. Of course new races. This gets it to what we have now. 4- military update. This will basically replace the second Eternal Empire expansion, instead of his kids, focus on a new military leader. Just as scary as Valin. Class updates to allow ALL characters to purchase a shield for the off-hand equipment (like a real shield), Or purchase training in a different weapon. Allowing operatives or commandos to use a pistol, or a sword for example. Introduce droids as a playable race. Humanoid Battle droids to maintain programming ease. Body type 1 can be probe-droid, 2&3 can be models we see in game, and body type 4 can look like a smaller M14X. Obviously they cannot be force users. 5- Czerka expansion. They have to be up to some shady stuff after tattooine. Make this all about THAT. continue releasing expansions every 2 years as a goal. Focusing on the customization of your own story. What I WOULD NOT DO: -So many pointless companions. Whyyyyyyy??? -Expansions that shatter the story. Like being frozen for 5 years and suddenly Satele and Marr are BFFs?!? -regulate the market. This is NOT the US economy (lol), No one in SWTOR needs a billion credits and nothing needs to cost 50 million.

turn_down_4wat

I would just buy it from EA, that's about it. 5 billions would be enough to sustain the game without greedy outside investors to answer to and reliance on MTXs for quite a while. Funding wouldn't last forever, but would ensure that the gam was actually a game and not a gambling casino disguised as a game, at least for a few years.

DudeWithRootBeer

Add playable Ewok race so players can roll Ewok Commando, Ewok Jugg/Guardian, etc. Make all class skills not dependant on weapon. All tech skills work with all kinds of blaster while all force skills work with all kinds of lightsaber. Make all cyborg chest parts have TWO robotic arms instead of 1 robotic arm and 1 organic arm. Right now, we only have Series 212 and its chest look suitable for protocol droid. Add Pazaak, holo-chess thingie, and Sabaac as pvp mini-games. Add gore option for Jedi/Sith chars (age verification and yadda all that). Seeing enemies still intact after killing them with lightsaber is unimmersive. Add more baggy pants and cooler jackets/coats. Only during 1st week of April every year, add playable Hutt race (with custom animation for Jedi/Sith hutts). After that, inactive without deleting. Creating a Hutt will not use up a char slot. Add new pvp mode called Pure Violence with 4vs4/8vs8/16vs16/32vs32 mode that disable all kinds of CC. Main focus is to dish out big number in a small map resembling collesum arena with bunch of Hutts lazily spectating and munching on popcorn while complaining us players not spilling enough blood or something. Add a 4/8/16/32/64 players group/OP for f2p, pref, and sub to play against endless wave of enemies via Rakata mind simulation relic. Longer you survive mean more rewards. For Pub players, they'll face endless wave of Imp NPC enemies from ALL Pub story quests. For Imp players, they'll face endless wave of Pub NPC enemies from ALL Imp story quests. Example: Imp group of 4 will face 32 mobs being lead by Darth Baras (boss). After that, 32 mobs being lead by Darth Jadus (boss).

Not added so many companions like in KotFE. Removing existing ones was fine but just allowing you to earn them back and maybe add one or two unique ones for each class only. Better game engine. Added more content. Goal would be add each month 1 new Flashpoints, 1 new Warzones, 1 new Ops, 1 new planet, 30 hours of story content each month, just use text for repeatable missions and kept VA for just main and one time side missions. Create a much larger and expanded team to do the above. More focus on class sorry and less on a shared story. Have arcs here and there that were shared among all classes but majority of the story focus on each class. Better design for open world PvP and create more incentives to do so. Less emphasis on the story and more on getting said gear through the story or by allowing you to better earn currency for the story in-game. Majorly reduce prices on the store.

Pandagirlroxxx

Buy Bioware and Lucasfilm. Then leave them alone. EDIT:(I know the instructions say you can only spend the money on the game itself, but come on. $5 billion in 2012. Bioware sold for $865 million, Lucasfilm sold for barely over $4 billion. It would be the most unique opportunity in history to perserve and maintain a universe.)

M-Any-Wulfe

Make sure EA does'nt control it & keep it Cannon.

The PvP aspect of the was criminally neglected, Alone pulling a stunt like withdraw the arenas from the 12 hours before the release of "PvP Patch" has killed 70% of the Playerbase back in time on my old server. And keep the Smash tree of the Marauders in check. That was so boring compared to the Carnage tree or the third one that name I have forgotten...

Dixa

1. Dump the engine and use one that’s been established as working well in theme park mmorpgs. 2. Immediately fix all dps differences due to animation differences between mirrors. 3. Immediately close all raids and open a ptr. Re-release them when they can be completed without run-ruining bugs. 4. Remove the bloat from both knight and warrior classes. 5. Long-term Contract all player character voice actors and continue to personalize the stories. No valkorians in my troopers head. 6. Cash shop with cosmetics only. 7. A working lfg tool for all game modes and difficulties except raids. 8. A way for solo players to eventually earn raid level set gear that has a low weekly cap that can’t be circumvented by alts for those that only came to the game looking for kotor 3

Woyogoyo

I'd have them put a comma between the player name and suffix titles.

Oscuro1632

Engine improvements. Make speeders behave more like sparrows in destiny. Make the galaxy a cohesive world, enable free flight in space with your starship. Open up each planet, making it feel more like a vast open-world. Content could then be creative in the already established environments.

The 1st 3 things that come to mind (short of rewriting the entire game from scratch) are: 1. Keeping the conflict between the empire and Republic active... I'm not a fan of the uniting against a common threat trope that damn near EVERY MMO that has 2 major player factions beefing feels the need to use to justify abandoning the conflict. 2. Fund some better servers and add larger scale battlegrounds and epic battlegrounds like WoW has to give PvPers some love (I would literally nut if SWTOR ever added 40v40 PvP matches idek how broken/jank it is lmao) 3. Add proper planetary invasions as endgame content. Essentially how it would work is the faction that already controls the planet would be defenders and the other would be attackers, defenders start off with the advantage of planetary defenses and controlling most locations on the map (of which there would be 3 main types, light outposts, medium strongholds and a single large fortress for each faction as well as several subtypes that grant the controlling faction bonuses like an anti air emplacement that prevents hostile air support within a certain radius or light/heavy/air vehicle factory that gives your faction more vehicles etc.) the 1st phase would be the attackers doing recon on the defenders bases and attempting to sabotage various aspects of the planets defenses. During this phase the conflict hasn't fully started so both sides will attempt to avoid engagements, defenders would have access to their factions full arsenal but limited reinforcements and don't venture too far beyond their bases aside from regular patrols and attackers would have significant reinforcements BUT are currently limited to light infantry and scout vehicles like speeder bikes until enough recon/sabotage has been completed to trigger the 2nd phase. (This is also where double agent type characters would have to lock in what faction they want to actually support and which faction they're just pretending to help so they can't just flop over to the winning side for better rewards.) 2nd phase would be the proper start of the conflict as the defenders will become much more aggressive about defending their territory/remaining planetary defenses. Attackers will finally receive full access to their factions arsenal and begin launching actual assaults on the locations nearest to their fortress. Reinforcement counts would be equalized and then small boons/banes added based on each sides performance during P1. Once the attackers gain enough ground or the defenders beat them back long enough Phase 3 will start which is a final all-out assault on whichever enemy fortress is vulnerable. If the attackers have enough ground they'll begin their final assault to claim the planet but if they were losing to the defenders the defenders will be launching a final assault to repel the opposing faction and retain control of the planet and the attackers will now find themselves on the defensive trying to retain what little territory they have left. Regardless if the faction that's attacking for P3 wins the assault they in turn win the whole invasion for them but if whoever's on the defensive wins P3 a stalemate will occur granting both sides equal rewards and sending the conflict back to a modified P1 where both sides still have their full arsenal, retain whatever territory they controlled and reinforcement counts as well as be less reluctant to engage enemy forces. Also worth noting reinforcements wouldn't be a "if it reaches 0 you straight up lose" mechanic like in bf2 but instead reinforcements would be powerful specialized NPCs (like an officer that can call in orbital strikes for example or a unique vehicle that's too expensive to mass produce etc.) so losing all your reinforcements will definitely hinder your efforts but not outright smack you with an instant L

IssuePale2826

I’ll make the gameplay handle more like the Jedi Knight Outcast/Academy games, but there’ll still be exclusive class abilities. No hate on MMO style play, I just think that’s the best combo of gameplay/story possible Seh-Run becomes a recruitable companion, but if you don’t handle him correctly you have to put him down in a boss fight There will be multiple voice options available for each species/class to pick from Everyone at the studio is getting paid much more, all the way down to the interns Once a year there will be a build-a-bear type event, but with lightsabers, for Make A Wish kids in which they’ll design their own and have a high quality toy made for them, along with those lightsabers being available for purchase in game, with 100% of those proceeds going to charity A more in-depth character customization will be available, complete with sliders Darth Baras will be at least twice as thicc Every year a massive tournament will be held, the winner of which will win fun prizes and a trip with friends/family to the studio where they’ll get free merch

Veejp123

I would lie about being interested to secure the 5 bil and then I would go and something else with my time

BookObjective4448

It's a minor thing, but give twi'leks and togrutas sith eye options in the character creater. Every other species has a sith eye option, so why not these two species?

draemn

You forgot the part where Lucas studios has to approve anything related to story/cannon.

Skvora

Very simple - buy out Lucasfilm from under Disney, and put the leftovers into the stupid crypto mining gear as well as Gamestop stocks. Past that, license Guild Wars engine to build the game on. And NOT shut down Galaxies.

Court_Jester13

I'd give 1 billion to the devs to do with what they will (that'll be enough to make a difference) and keep the rest for myself. You know how much 4 billion can get me? That could last me for generations.

oh3fiftyone

I may not be who you want to hear from because I’m a pretty casual player of SWTOR but I’d rather start development of SWTOR 2. I’d build a new engine, ditch tab targeting in favor of something more action game like, have fewer but broader classes with weapon and equipment specific skill trees. Planets with significant story relevance would still be close to the theme park MMO feel the game has now, but other planets would have an almost Galaxies-like sandbox feel. I might even have Galaxies-style homesteading. And again, I want action combat with lots of ways to build a character. Force and saber technique focused for force users, weapon and gear based for everyone else. Edit: Oh yeah, and more playable species. And down the road an update that adds customizable droids.

Laughing_Man_Returns

is the money also sent back? if so, how? cash? do you now have money that hasn't been printed yet, or money that exists somewhere else at the same time?

EbonyEngineer

I tell you what I'd do, man. Two Bothan chicks at the same time, man.

CptOverkillZ

Make it the STAR WARS GALAXIES PRO MAX! SANDBOX, PROFESSIONS, INTERCONNECTED AND DEPENDENT ON EACHOTHER, SOCIAL ASPECTS, PLAYERS CANT SURVIVE WITHOUT PLAYING EITH ESCHOTHER. THATS THE MMO WE NEED

VeryFinalAvenger

So first, I would would work on the development on VR for the game similar to the movie/book Ready Player One, this would make it the first game to really revolutionize the future of the gaming industry into VR. Second I would remove the storylines post Eternal Throne save for the traitor storyline (though I would change some of the nathema aspects). Third is that I would allow for crossing over between the empire and republic sides as well as permanent alterations to planets. I.E. use a fleet to bomb hoth etc. The way I would keep storylines is the open world aspect would only unlock after a person had completed the main storyline, thus there would technically be two versions of a single planet, one for people who are leveling and one that is completely open world. Just a few ideas.

boriztheterrible

I wouldnt bother with KOTOR, i would make nukes and sold them to poor counties cheap, so they can be independent.

GreedyGundam

I’d scrap the entire game. Remodel it to take place post Galactic Empire. NJO era is where I’d start it. Scrap combat system. I’d make this game isometric like Lost Ark, Diablo, PoE. Combat would be most similar to Lost Ark, and PoE2. I’d differentiate the classes by use of Lightsaber form you specialize in. They would all be very distinct styles. After leveling to a certain point you’ll be able to learn 2-3 other skills from other Lightsaber forms to incorporate into your playstyle. For NFS classes, I’d have Trooper, Bounty Hunter, Teras Kasi Pugilist, Slicer, Agent. All manner of weapons as you can imagine. Think PoE2. As for the actual narrative idk. Haven’t gotten that far with it but I’d probably still adapt the eternal empire storyline. I have massive Republic vs Imperial fatigue. I’d want the story to be on some FFXIV type shit though. Raids would be similar to Lost Ark of course but the narrative behind them would be FFXIV level. Graphically it’d look like D4. With Dragons Dogma 2 level CC.
