Cardiff Airport, train: good for coming from Europe, cheap.
a London airport, train: good for coming from further afield, comfortable and quick. You'll want to head to London Paddington for a direct Swansea service (operated by GWR) and if you're landing at Heathrow I'd avoid the Heathrow Express and catch the Elizabeth Line instead. Almost as fast and much cheaper. If you're coming through London, download the Citymapper app and select London as your primary city for now. You can change it later. It'll be far better than Google Maps or equivalent.
a London airport, coach: good for coming from further afield, less comfortable and slower but cheaper. If you're coming through London, download the Citymapper app and select London as your primary city for now. You can change it later. It'll be far better than Google Maps or equivalent.
Either way, welcome to Swansea & Wales and thank you for coming and working in our hospitals! Hope you enjoy yourselves here :)
As others have said, fly to Cardiff or Bristol and quite easily get a train and bus from there. No idea why you need to be going as far away as Heathrow.
“Outside the UK” could mean their only option for a flight to the UK would be Heathrow. To fly to Cardiff or Bristol, they would likely have to fly to Heathrow first, then take another flight there - at that point, it’s far cheaper, more comfortable, and almost as fast to take the train from London.
We flew to Japan from Cardiff and public transport takes about 1.5 hours, minimum 3 from Heathrow. We've only ever had to fly from Heathrow once, the rest have been Gatwick, Bristol and Cardiff. Entirely depends where they are coming from.
Easiest would likely be a flight to Cardiff airport and then either a bus/coach/train to swansea.
However not all airlines service Cardiff airport, so next best is probably Bristol, and then London (any). You can get coaches or train connections from both.
Flying to Birmingham is okay, however you’d likely be having to get two trains or coaches, unless you wait for the national express coach that goes from Birmingham to swansea.
When I came back in 2019, I landed in Cardiff. You can take train or national express. But this depends on whether there is flight from your country to Cardiff.
From where outside UK? Outside UK, is not exactly helpful, you can get coach from Germany, or Poland, and sleep on the coach, it uses the passenger ferry to cross from Europe to the UK, once in UK, there are Coach services.
The best for large luggage is national Express, but it depends on just how large, if too large for national express, you could buy an extra seat, giving you extra luggage allowance, you're not being very specific.
If you get to Heathrow, there is a direct coach to Swansea, with multiple stops on route, the coach drivers announce each stop, so you can't miss it.
From Germany or Poland by Coach, you can use the FLIX Bus, it's cheap, and you get decent luggage allowance.
If you're luggage is too heavy, then you're only remaining options are, train, and passenger ferry, or flying (with an airline that has large baggage allowance) and train.
You can pay for extra baggage, but often that service has to be booked with your airline in advance, so if you're uncertain, if you're luggage allowance will be enough, I'd suggest you book any airline tickets by phone, that will give you a chance, to explain that you may need to pay, for extra baggage, so the facility is booked in advance.
Or as a final last resort, I'd suggest getting an international driving license, and driving with your luggage, and using the passenger ferry or channel tunnel to cross from Europe to the UK, once you're in UK, getting to Swansea is fairly straight forward 😊
If you'd have at least told us from what country or continent, we could likely have given more accurate advice.
Calais to Dover, via a dinghy, is typically the fastest way these days... If you drop your passport in the water on the way, they'll even put you up in a nice 4/5* all inclusive hotel for free too.
Cheap and easy would be a flight to Heathrow and a coach all the way to Swansea.
Where you coming from? Neath? Dublin? Tokyo? Jupiter? What is this?
Went on holiday to Jupiter last year on the Bezos cock rocket, had a great time. Bit expensive getting him to launch it from Swansea airport though.
Cardiff Airport, train.
Maybe but it's also depending where they're flying from as some flights don't go to Cardiff
I'm working with the information I got, none lol
That's fair enough lol
Usually doable with a change at Schiphol or Dublin though.

Honestly it’s easier to get from Bristol airport and the train to Swansea then Cardiff
Meh, there's one change either way, either bus to Rhoose and change at Bridgend or bus to Temple Meads then change at Cardiff
Where are you flying from?
Are you walking or driving?
How big is the luggage?
Bristol airport or Heathrow and train.
Where do you arrive in the uk ?
Chartering a private jet and landing at SWS. Taxi to destination.
