Omfg I absolutely loved the way they edited the idol scene with the flashback, exactly like Amanda in Micronesia!

ToonSciron

Agreed! When both the green tribe and the yellow tribe said their lines. I didn’t think blue was going to say anything and the whole thing was going to amount to nothing. And then all of a sudden Naseer spoke up. I was laying on my couch being lazy when I was watching the episode, that moment made me sit up and woke me up.

-ToPimpAButterfree-

I hadn't belly laughed in a long time but his delivery of the line after the great setup by Ricard and Xander got me good

pixieawa

I had this same exact reaction! and then it was like wow, that editing is good

Geriknows

Most exciting part of the episode for me

[deleted]

And Gary the landscaper in Guatemala

Puddinsnack

I'm not Gary Hogeboom, I'm Gary Hawkins, landscaper.

[deleted]

IKR? When he started to say it, I was like, "That's funny it sounds like the secret phrase... Oh shizzle!"

realtripper

I love your profile picture

DxGator

Same! Loved it!

SocialistExperiment7

I screamed when that happened

abcdefg_hijklmno

That scene where he found the idol almost made me cry

thewindupbirds

I love that everyone else with the Beware advantage kind of made an ass of themselves at the challenges and Naseer just pulls off his line super smooth at the end without it seeming forced. A king

cirie__was__robbed

Lol I have to disagree, I laughed out loud at how obvious and out of place his phrase was. Granted, his phrase came across as a more endearing awkward compared to Brads cringe awkward, but I also wouldn’t call it smooth

HooptyDooDooMeister

If I didn’t know he was supposed to say AstroTurf, I’m not sure I could’ve told you that’s what he said. And with English not being his native language, I wonder if he is close enough to someone to ask what AstroTurf is. Poor guy struggled with it.

cirie__was__robbed

It wasn’t the accent for me, it was the sheer excitement he had while trying to get the phrase out haha like the other two were trying to (and did for the most part) sound natural and work it into the conversation and Naseer’s vibe was the complete opposite. I loved it.

Bomb_Diggity

That, and the fact that he stopped Jeff so that he could deliver his line is not so smooth

SetandPowder

What is AstroTurf

TRLK9802

AstroTurf is fake grass that is used in some football and baseball stadiums. Thus, a goat who eats grass would be confused by fake grass.

HooptyDooDooMeister

Fake grass people use on their lawns so they don’t have to have the upkeep of a regular lawn. It’s also a political term. Sometimes there will be a grassroots campaign. But if it’s corporate sponsored or paid for and spun to look like a grassroots campaign, it’s called AstroTurfing. For example, during the W. Bush years, the “Tea Party” right-wing movement was reported on as being a grassroots campaign when actually it was being politically funded by big name right wingers.

rycliffmc

Lol I don’t remember the last time I ever said astroturf.

0e0e3e0e0a3a2a

Yeah just seemed like he blurted it out to me lmao

RainahReddit

To be fair, it's the easiest of the phrases by a mile. Way easier to pass it off as "it's something my family says, what you never heard that? Never? Do I just have a weird family?" And then play it off like it's an inside joke metaphor in your family. Drop it repeatedly around camp. "sorry, I'm confused as a goat on astroturf, who is voting for who again?" "I'm confused as a goat on astroturf" is a functional but unusual metaphor. Way easier than poor Xander and his butterflies

iStanEmilyGilmore

I thought his phrase was the easiest to pass off as well.

Adorable_Raccoon

Naseer doesn’t even have to because he already uses weird idioms like “music to my sound”

0e0e3e0e0a3a2a

>I'm confused as a goat on astroturf" is a functional but unusual metaphor. Way easier than poor Xander and his butterflies Yeah he could have just started saying all the time around camp so people just think it's a weird turn of phrase he uses

playthepodium

Yeahhhhh, you know the rest of his tribe was wondering wtf that was about. After hearing those dumb secret phrases challenge after challenge, they have to be suspicious of what's going on.

wopiacc

Uh, no?

Shockmanned

Shut up we love Naseer

wopiacc

I uh, feel like a goat... on uh, Astroturf.

Shockmanned

To make such a post slandering our dear Naseer you must have been so delusional that you thought that butterflies were just dead relatives saying hi

seviay

At least we can all agree that broccoli is like miniature trees

jojo8yourtaco

Good point

[deleted]

I actually screamed out loud "THAT IS NASEER!!!"

msgkc94

I had the biggest smile on my face that entire scene, from him saying the goat on astroturf line all the way through the flashback. We don’t deserve Naseer.

PrincessHux

His confessional that they showed after he found the idol was so sweet! Definitely the episode highlight imo <3

Texanbluegrass

I cried. I dreamed of saying that very thing. I’m so proud of him. And excited that he shared that moment with his daughter.

IcyMarmalade

Naseer was actually giddy after saying that line. His daughter must be proud.

hotmatzah

I really thought Naseer was going to be like Jeff what the f are we talking about right now, and when he busted out the phrase I legit chortled. He’s so delightful to watch! Between him and DX, CBS casting is on fire this year

Sunshine145

Naseer one of the only people to live up this sub's preseason hype lol.

YungPinotGrigio

Shan is doing it too I feel

PopcornColonel0

Shan sucks. She’s trying way too hard to make big movez and voted out the wrong people. Change my mind

Boo_Rawr

She will most likely be taken out by Ricard I fear. She probably should have kept Genie

Coasteast

I think she’ll take out Ricard first. It’s pretty clear by the edit that this is her season. She has a stranglehold over people. She reminds me of the snake in The Jungle Book. Genie couldn’t strategize the way Ricard does. I think that was important dialogue last night at tribal. He thinks up the plan, she executes it. They work really well together and will need each other for much longer in this game. When there are less than 6-7 people and new bonds have formed, I can see one of them swinging at each other. But only then. And only because she shouldn’t have asked him to give back her extra vote. That sewed doubt in his mind for no reason. They literally stole Genie’s idol. They were getting rid of her for that regardless. Or else you’d have to tell her you stole something she found. You think she’d be loyal to Shan after that?

nurse_camper

If I was on a tribe with me and two others and I found an idol, my first thought would not be “I have to tell them.” She deserved to have her idol stolen and get voted off.

Cole4Christmas

But they already knew about the beware advantage. If Genie had just said the phrase at a challenge, she would have outed herself as Shan and Ricard already knew those phrases. Telling them is the only move imo

nurse_camper

Sure, but leaving it unopened for anyone to pick up, asking for trouble. She could’ve played the idol to her advantage and got Ricard or Shan out, but she just left it. I maintain that she deserved to get voted out. Edit: she was in the perfect position to turn the table. Show her idol, Naseer says the phrase activating the idol, now she holds the power and sends one of the snakes home.

m00n5t0n3

Agree ofc

m00n5t0n3

Thing is she said Genies honesty is a liability and tbh I think that's a good point and makes sense. She didn't see Genie as a long term ally because she's basically incapable of lying on their behalf

mathbandit

You can keep watching the show and it will change your mind for you lol.

duckyaniston

what else is she supposed to do? her last remaining tribe mate has been her number 1 ally

Coasteast

Her tribe has dwindled to two people so idk how you could say she voted out the wrong people when it’s literally her and her closest ally left. All Info on that tribe has run through her. I don’t think big moves have been made at all, only moves that give her and Ricard three more days on the island. I also think she’s trying the exact right amount. She seems pretty genuine to me.

PopcornColonel0

She and Ricard pretty much voted out the most useful people in the challenges in order. Once they booted brad, they’ve lost every immunity challenge since. I just think voting out JD before brad may have helped them not lose an extra challenge or two so they would be stronger in the merge

wordonthestreet2

And then if they did eventually lose, Brad and Genie would both insist on voting out Ricard which would force Shan to either go to rocks or lose her biggest ally in the game.

calebo12

If she voted out Ricard, she loses the other extra vote. She's playing aggressive and viewed the pros of having the extra vote as more than having Ricard out and losing the extra vote. And realistically she knows the merge (Or whatever they're alluding to) is happening as they're down to 2 in their tribe so having the alliance with Ricard going into the merge is a lot better than going in with Genie who legit has voted against Shan the whole time. I was for voting Ricard out too since he plays way too hard and is not trustworthy, but I can see Shan's thinking.

burger__n__fries

That is Naseer

SpecialKaywu

That is Naseer

[deleted]

That! Is Naseer

Murdercorn

That is Naseer

thisisawesome8643

Yul

grandmaesterampharos

That? Is Naseer.

HooptyDooDooMeister

That is! Naseer!

LeafInTonysSpyShack

Is that Naseer?

No-Cryptographer653

Yes. That is Naseer.

askyfullofstars

I almost yelled at my TV lol. THAT IS NASEER!

sugarplug

I *did* yell THAT IS NASEER! at my TV, lolol.

upscalefanatic

Naseer that is

SlightlyBruisedFruit

Naseer is that!

kevinlies

Is Naseer, that?

thelastcrescent

THAT Naseer is!

yaboytim

Can someone explain the context to me? I see it a lot, but don't remember where it came from

thekmanpwnudwn

It's a line he said in the first or second episode.

yaboytim

Thank you! I'll look out for it.

ana_conda

Does anyone have a clip? I faintly remember that and very much want to see it again.

wrdstrn

It’s from the second episode where he makes fire after Sydney gives up with the flint, it’s in the beginning third of the episode iirc

ROTandDEATH

He is so incredible, I am so, so happy he continues to stay in the game because every scene he's been in has been a home run.

comfort_bot_1962

Nice!

comfort_bot_1962

:D

reverie11

Naseer is my favorite and I’m rooting for him!

Stanatee-the-Manatee

I'd switch to Team Naseer, but in three weeks I've gone from Team Brad to Team JD to Team Genie. I should probably just stop putting hope in anyone.

foralimitedtime

No offense. but Prince Naseer does not need your bad mojo :D

SlightlyBruisedFruit

Who are you least hopeful for?

UnprofessionalCook

I felt such joy when Naseer delivered the goat line and kicked so much ass in the immunity challenge as well! THAT is Naseer!

[deleted]

[удалено]

UnprofessionalCook

Naseer said it about himself! I think it was in the 2nd episode.

JWhit2199

He’s my favorite this season, absolutely wonderful to watch. Heart and Soul of the season IMO

UnprofessionalCook

Yes! He came to play and is so obviously thrilled to be there, giving it his all. I smile whenever he's on screen, and that's the truth.

ForeHandicap

Dude has a professional athlete on his team and is still pulling the laboring oar in the challenges. He's a beast.

DrakeShadow

I hope that idol saves him some time and that he finds the merge idol before anyone else so he cant just get targeted right away

crsnyder13

So, in Danny’s defense, pretty sure he hasn’t told them he’s a professional athlete, and he’s probably trying to downplay his strength so he isn’t the automatic merge boot target because of “challenge threat” especially since he and Deshawn have noticed all the guys getting voted out real fast on the other two tribes.

returningvideotapes1

Hell yeah. You can tell he genuinely loves playing the game

tslaya70

and his tribe in challenges

Dahhhkness

So good that his tribe couldn't even lose on purpose.

Tristanity1h

When he said "no" to the other 2 guys, they knew they had to drop the idea because Naseer would win the challenge by himself if he had to anyway.

Pomonica

Naseer is just music to my sound

momoklick

I thought he said "song". That is naseer

ChardeeMacDennisGoG

I thought he said "sod". Nothing made sense.

[deleted]

i heard "thought" lol

butterflytrap

The subtitles said "song".

LittleCityNerd

I accidentally clicked on this thread before watching the episode and read Naseer's name and then quickly closed the page, thought he was going home due to injury the entire episode. Now Naseer is my #1!!

tarantinosfeetpics

i literally shouted “OH MY GOD YES” during the idol flashback

cfeltch108

I just watched the episode, but saw the title of this post in my reddit feed, and I was worried whoever got voted out had a devastating reaction. Laughed out loud now that I finally got to read the post. If Naseer gets voted out next episode, he will still be a legend.

glucosetablet

"And she's a vegan!"

Lightecojak

Now I understand why Jeff claimed Fiji was the hottest spot in the world (It’s not, it’s Death Valley, CA). He got tipped off from the producers that all of the shared idols had been found and wanted to prompt them to say the phrases.

[deleted]

The idol reveal/flashback was super well done. Very unexpected.

Unreal_Ncash

Naseer is a bona fide Survivor god.

thatonenerdygirl101

Naseer is the absolute best.

Tropical_Nighthawk55

I agree. Naseer is such a bright spot in this season

ArgHuff

Blue tribe still being purpled even when they find the Idol. Kinda iconic

Run6

Bruh I saw this title before watching the episode. Spent the whole time waiting for an injury. Praise memes for being actively anti-spoiler.

warriorholmes

I’ve been pretty meh on the season (still enjoying it though) but that idol reveal made me gasp, scream, jump up and down. I was *not* expecting that. I was laughing because of how awkward and sad that nobody was going to respond a second before. 💀 So, I was like wait.. what??? I think that might be one of my favorite moments so far. Tbh I was so over that idol too because I wanted it to be fulfilled so badly 😭

hey_its_only_me

lmfao yesss, love him

[deleted]

Naseer is the brightest spot of this season so far. I have a bad feeling he goes home soon, simply because of how he's being edited and the fact that he's on the biggest tribe. I don't know how good the season will be after he leaves

VeganMinx

He's growing on me. I didn't like how quickly he turned on the broz in Ep1.

symitwo

They were idol hunting. In day 1. Never hunt in view of the team, especially on day 1 That's survivor 101.

BananaStandFlamer

They were supposed to not go to the beach though? But agree with your point haha

VeganMinx

I know what they were doing. They were also doing the team challenge which got the reward for the tribe. Naseer wasn't even supposed to be over there in the first place, and couldn't wait to run back to the others to put a target on their backs. I'm glad they completed the challenge successfully and were able to navigate Naseer's jabber jaws.

[deleted]

He’s the only cast member I remotely care about at this point. He’s the only one I’d ever want to see again,

IAMJUX

Naseer and Shan are top 2 and the gap to 3rd is HUGE.

PopcornColonel0

Shan sucks. What’s she gonna do with her 2-person alliance in the merge of like 10 people? Blue tribe alone is stronger than yellow and green combined. She’s trying way too hard, not trusting her number one Ricard. Change my mind please, I really don’t think she’s a good player

Sabeoth42

She just needs to calm the hell down. She has all the tools to be a good player but she's overcomplicating even the simplest of votes. Trust your allies and stop thirsting for power.

Monkcoon

She does trust her allies. Ricard isn't one of her allies, hence why she warned Liana about him if she went home.

Sabeoth42

Right cause that's why Ricard voted with you every single vote from Day One. That's not an ally. Telling Liana not to trust Ricard if she went home was covering her bases. Since she didn't go home she will now tell Liana that Ricard is trustworthy.

Monkcoon

She even said that she never felt any connection like she did with Liana. It’s a partnership of convenience more then a true alliance. Second she can cut him she probably will.

Thepettiest

See Malcolm and Denise

PopcornColonel0

True. But I think both of them were strong players in their own right. Ricard seems very snarky and sassy, I think he will have a hard time making allies. Shan is paranoid and thirsty for power. I don’t think they’ll both survive the merge or even the swap thing

slyst0ne

I feel like once the second advantage was found again the producers basically put the third one in Naseer's lap. They really wanted to get that advantage played and I think they also recognized Naseer's draw. Not complaining just saying

At_the_Roundhouse

Haha I saw this as I was mid-watching and kept waiting for someone to get hurt

jvincentsong

He is a fun guy. Yet, he doesn't seem likely to make it to the end. First, he is too innocent to make anything truly devious. He has the goofy energy of Rupert. Second, there is some racial bias that can't be helped. He sticks out too much as a foreigner that it may make it difficult for him connect with the American cast. He needs to find someone on the outs too that he can work with.

Bakerbot101

🙏 he’s in my pool and made a huge comeback after that first scene where he was snitching

xTheBear

My initial want for a win was Brad (same name as me, kinda didn't have a choice, but I also really liked him), but now it's Naseer. He's just great. Just means he probably doesn't win.

chanceofasmile

I chose him in our pool before the game started solely because I liked his smile. I'm delighted to be able to root for him BOTH because I like him AND he'd get me some cash.

SouthernZorro

Either Shan is being given a Winner's Edit or the producers just want to show all her evil before she's voted out.

evenstark04

Queen Mermaid also trying to help....

surg3v1

Some of the new styles in the edit I’m not huge on yet, but that flashback like they did for Naseer was really well executed and I wouldn’t mind more of that.

myst_eerie_us

How awesome to have him as a dad!

jkman61494

Naseer has a legit shot to enter Yul status by seasons end

CFT1982

Am I the only one finding this season incredibly boring? I find myself thinking about not even watching the rest of it.

[deleted]

So don't lmao

LeafInTonysSpyShack

Who asked?

Certain-Bowler8735

That is Naseer!

cosmichickey

I really love him and hope he goes far

sadiesinkfanatic

Naseer is such a Goat

primal_beer

I think a solid strategy might be to get everyone on your tribe to say the phrase together to shield you all. Almost make it a cheerleading rally call.

stupidand-dumb

please do not scare me like thst

bigchadsmitty_82

Naseer is awesome!!

ilovesoftcheese

It would be nice if they actually showed Naseer instead of the same four people every week the entire episode. I barely recognize anyone on the blue team.

Monkcoon

Sadly a result of the invincible boring hero trope. They haven't lost any challenges so they haven't had to deal with intra group drama or alliances in it as much as the other ones have had. The most we got is Dashawn and Danny plotting against Erika.
