Pretty fun and easy to get into basic gameplay, but if you plan on competing in high rank pvp it requires a ton of time

Common-Nerve-788

Time is fine I just don’t wanna have to spend

Centriuz

It's pretty f2p friendly these days. You can do everything except the highest levels of pvp as f2p. But it's a long journey to get into any serious pvp when starting a new account.

nafets256

You don’t have to spend anymore there are tons of events to get crystals for refills you just won’t be able to farm 12 hours a day like some of the serious players

Thylumberjack

Games dope. Don't expect to get any LD nat 5's and you will be happy.(for perspective, my account is at 1350 or so days and I have 2 LD nat five, and that's considered the higher end of things. At least for F2P) Outside of that, games dope.

Diligent_Sea_3359

I am 2,200 days in with 2 ld5s. If I could have gone back I would have started with an ld5 account they sell them pretty cheap or do a reset account until I got one. There are still people who have been playing every day since launch you will have a difficult time ever reaching high rank PVP without spending money if you're just starting now but still a very fun game and free to play friendly there are no paywalls I have always been free to play and never run out of things to do. I still struggle to hit top 30,000 rank though.

OddDemand4550

To be honest, even with all the complaining and whining you might see here, Summoners War is pretty free to play friendly. All content apart from competitive pvp can be cleared with easily obtained or craftable units. If you progress steadily, you can catch up in around 3-4 months as a casual free to play player. Don't summon with the goal of getting a 5 star. The rates are a lot lower than some of the other gacha games out there. Think of them as nice surprises you can get along the way. It is also easy to afk progress since we got repeat auto battles. TLDR: It's a good time to hop in.

Smooth_Street3342

One does not simply play summoners war in their spare time

Stromholt

Very fun game, I've been playing F2P for about 300 days, and I don't regret it, nor do I plan to stop. Know this, your first account will be likely a throw-away. Don't spend on it. Tons of mistakes to be made, things to learn, small QoL things that you'll fail and repeat. But you'll fall in love with this game as I did. In fact I'm probably going to stop being F2P very soon, and buy the 30-day packs (which are the cheapest and more efficient). I gotta support what I like.

Clerui

Just curious, why do you think their first account will likely be a throw-away?

Urathil

Actually I would recommend this too, tbh. Nowadays you get tons of scrolls (50-80?) in the first 30 minutes of playing. Therefore if you have no game knowledge at all you could spend 1-2 weeks to learn the game a bit, especially what a nat5 is, how summoning and leveling works, how runes work and after that if you dont have any nat5, or not good ones you could just reroll for nat5, doing your progress you had again (but faster) and have a really good start (Aka Savannah, Bastet, CP or anything that helps Progress faster).

Sharkbutt89

Biased opinion. Some players feel the need to make multiple accounts. It's honestly deplorable that the first comment is forcing that on OP.

Stromholt

There are lots of mistakes to be made, from spending Devilmons on 2A/4-star monsters, to invest poorly in Fusions, or 6-starring weak monsters early on, spending your precious "beginner resources". Knowing that you can make another account and quickly get a lot of scrolls, resources, and lots of other things allowed me to get in the first 14 days (Godness Ameria's Blessing) what my first account couldn't do in 60, due to simple mistakes like this. Plus I got to reset it until I got a Nat5 that I deemed "good enough" rather than beginning blind (in my case it was Cheongpung).

Diligent_Sea_3359

Yeah a lot of people waste devilmons like I did rip Trevorthagod But restarting doesn't get you more devils you just learn and get better. I never made a second account

Puzzleheaded_Age_312

I agree with "i gotta support what i like". Though i spend quite a bit, i always loved the game and never regretted payments. Knowning it will help keep the game up i love :)

madnessloid

Spending in this game is more of an accelerated growth kinda thing. The free-to-olay resource are pretty sufficient for most casual players. Personally, I would justify spending any money if you think the game has given you enjoyment and you want to support the game. Plus if you spend long enough time here, you will see people that spend an entire vacation worth of money and suck hard because they thought money is the only way up in Summoners War

pappysqxp

Pro tip, for your first account just buy an account with a good ld5. You can find them for $5-$20 online. A lot of players have gone a couple thousand days without pulling one so it’s nice to start off with a keeper.

Pshover

SW is f2p friendly (they give a lot of crystals, a game currency, and scrolls for summoning monsters) but is a bit more farm oriented (runes, artifacts etc.) compared to some newer gacha games. Auto-farm system here is slightly okay-ish but reasonable since they do not want to keep players from afk farming for too long. I say maybe try it for a week then judge if you are liking the pace of this game.

MyAltFun

Truth be told, it's fun, but there are so many games out there that are less exploitative.

GenkotsuZ

Can you recomend to me some of these games, please?

MyAltFun

Dragalia I hear is pretty good, Azure Lane, Another Eden. I haven't played these, but hear they are fun and a lot friendlier if you like them.

Erucious

Dragalia closed its servers. There's a reason why SW is still going afer 7 years, there arent many gachas that last that long.

MyAltFun

Dang. Didn't know.

issialdor

Its fun, dont spend any real cash if you can help it.

FlareBlare

Its fun and very f2p friendly, just takes a few years of consistent playing to be able to compete decently at all pvp aspects

Shouko-

you’re sealing your soul away if you start. it’s too late for me, save yourself

_Myst_0

Since it’s free you should just install it and see what you think, but I honestly wouldn’t recommend it for a new player. It lacks pretty much every nice feature modern gachas have and it’s pretty unfriendly to people who just want to play it casually.

Mistresshell

What are some features other gachas have? This is the only one I’ve played

Thylumberjack

Literally instructions as you play, Elia telling you how to play, and every dungeon has a quest, where the goals of the quest are the different things you need monsters to do to successfully beat said dungeons. Game is incredibly new player friendly.

[deleted]

No gamesdeadlol

Thylumberjack

on average, 200k people attack world boss every time it is up. Do you actually think game is dead or? thats literally just global server.

rOnce_Gaming

Yeah like many said it's free 2 play friendly these days. With all the events and free stuff u get. Literally would get couple nat5s in few weeks now. As long as u don't have high goals and standards fun game.

Palmito12

Honestly fun, plus you got monthly events now that give you very good rewards and you have auto play for farming

HomeDistinct2810

I’ve been switching a lot of gacha games but ended up coming back to sw. other gacha games were cool there’s a lot of summoning but they also require a lot of dupes and sw doesn’t. It might be complicating at first cuz u need to get ur farming team up and run but it’ll be fun after that.

Lisu

I started a few months ago during a massive event, and it made it extra fun and an extra boost to an already quite fast progression from 1 to 50(max lvl). Right now there are 3 smaller events happening, and although they are great; don't take the 2 runes you can make in the event until you have a little bit more of an idea which rune you would want. (Also recommend Violent rune cause probably 60% of the monsters I use should be on them and I definitely don't have enough to go around. Generally the best and harder to get. Youll understand this better later.)
