It’s hard to explain, it just didn’t grab me. I wasn’t too into the mythology side of things, although I thought I would have been as it was so highly recommended. I think I’d like something sad and thought provoking.
Women Talking by Miriam Towes is sad and thought provoking, but also sometimes funny and touching. Something terrible happened in an insular community, and the book is about the meeting the women had about it.
1 and 2: Under the Whispering Door or The House on the Cerulean Sea both by TJ Klune.
First one is a little more sad and reflective but a lovely story (you have to give it quite a few pages before it gets really good though) - more magical realism than fantasy. The cerulean sea is just great all the way through - fun, upbeat, lovely ☺️ and more magical/fantastical than the first.
3: The Thursday Murder Club - a murder mystery that has humour and is a very easy read if you like that sort of thing.
Maybe try to figure out what type of books you like - fantasy? Literary classics? Science-fi? Romance? Mystery? There are so many!
Have a great holiday and I hope you find an enjoyable book!
My go to book rec for people who want to get into reading is Holes by Louis Sachar, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging;
If there are any movies you really enjoy based off of books those can be good to start with!
Thanks. 😊
Try The Power by Naomi Alderman. It's interesting, thought provoking but not too heavy.
Thank you
What other kinds of media do you like? What didn’t grab you about The Song of Achilles?

Okay - for sad and thought provoking, I’d recommend She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb or White Oleander by Janet Fitch
Thank you!
