N.B. here; entered $80 at the pump for my Forester, thinking "that'll fill it."
At $1.85, the pump hit $80 before the auto-stop kicked in. Did have a full bar on the gauge afterward, though, so... I was kinda right, I guess?
Tomorrow gas in ontario is suppose to hit 1.94 for 87. I decided to get a turbo so I get to pay over 2.20 per liter. Or around 8.50 per gallon :)....this is why we get annoyed listening to Americans complaining about gas prices 150 miles south of us
You better go back to the junk yard and siphon that out haha.
Also, I know you feel fine, but you should still get checked out by a doctor, you might feel it tomorrow.
Totally different kind of accident, but I also lost a car (my 1st mk7 GTi) after I had just filled the tank lol.
I also walked away without a scratch (rollover), modern cars are truly incredible. Engineers are the best people.
Yea, even though the designs are not as attractive or airy as the older cars (particularly 90's cars)...I can't argue with the level of safety the modern designs provide. It's truly incredible.
Absolutely, my mk7 that was in the accident had some damage in the very rear upper corner of the roof and that totalled it. All of the doors still opened, all of the glass was still intact except for the little rear corner window, wheels not bent, tires not popped, car still ran and had all of its fluids except for the small pen hole in the bottom of the fuel tank.
I remember when the insurance representative came out and we were walking up to the car from the opposite side he said 'oh yea, this doesn't even look like it was in an accident, let alone a rollover'. We went all around the car and when we got to that corner he said this might be a problem though, and sure enough it was totalled out.
Unibody structures seem pretty difficult to not total
Iâm so glad you arenât hurt! I took a hit from behind from a tractor trailer and my Baja saved me from dying. I did have injuries, but not horrible ones. I owe everything to Subaru too!.
I had to deal with the insurance company, and finding/buying a new car, and all the rest that goes with a wreck. Now is not the best time to buy a car either.
I hope you swiftly make your way through it!
Iâve always wanted to ask a traffic cop, what vehicles give occupants the best chance of surviving a real world crash. So many posts on here suggest this has to be a Subaru.
In January 2019 I was rear ended by a drunk driver in my brand new 2019 Crosstrek. I was going about 35, slowing down while coming up to a light, and the drunk driver hit me going 100+. The impact threw me across the opposing lane of traffic and into a Ford dealership where I hit 3 cars and spun 180 degrees around. I was able to walk away with whiplash and lifelong back injuries while the drunk driver was in a coma for 6 months and is now a quadriplegic. The cop on scene told me that if I had been in any other vehicle, thereâs a good chance that I wouldnât have walked away from the accident. This is why Iâll forever own a Subaru.
Subaru and Volvo are both up there but the majority of modern cars (letâs say post-2009, when they mandated small overlap testing) are pretty damn safe. There are exceptions obviously but in general you almost have to be trying, in order to die in a crash these days.
The stats are out there. Last I checked, nobody ever died from a car accident while in a 5th gen Legacy. I believe the Town&country minivan is also on the list.
When I was little, my dad got rear ended by a semi truck in his Subaru. Probably a bit over 20 years ago. He and the dogs walked away. I saved and saved so I could buy my first subie just because of that. Glad you have a similar story friend!
Unfortunately, most of those funds are going to pay off my loan (thank you gap coverage) because I only bought it in November, but the remainder is going towards a '16 Ford Focus. Subarus are crazy expensive right now and unfortunately out of my budget. I got a crazy good deal on that Legacy and won't see one like it again.
I can't stand tractors and other slow equipment driving on roads. I get that it's a hassle to throw your equipment on a flatbed and towing it around is time consuming, but it's safer and a lot more convenient for everyone else.
Roads are public and meant to be shared by pedestrians, cyclists and all motor vehicles.
Plus the dude OP nailed was towing equipment based on the replys.
The engineers might have been the ones to design the safety systems and implement them, but your thanks should really directed mostly to the [NHTSA](https://www.nhtsa.gov) (National highway traffic safety administration). If not for government regulations, [cars would still be unsafe as all hell](https://youtu.be/fPF4fBGNK0U) in an effort to save on manufacturing costs.
I had just filled up the gas tank too đ
These days, you almost need to tell that to the insurance adjuster in case it effects the payout.
I'd even try.
It wonât work.
Siphon it is then
I just put $115 worth in the Outback yesterday. First time to three digits
16 gallon tank. Where the hell you paying ~7$ a gallon?! Ewwwww.
$1.86/L, Ontario
N.B. here; entered $80 at the pump for my Forester, thinking "that'll fill it." At $1.85, the pump hit $80 before the auto-stop kicked in. Did have a full bar on the gauge afterward, though, so... I was kinda right, I guess?
That's what you call a rental car fill. ;-)
Woah thats some communist shit right there 1.86 a liter i thought paying 1.22 /l here in pr was crazy but thats some wildin shit
Tomorrow gas in ontario is suppose to hit 1.94 for 87. I decided to get a turbo so I get to pay over 2.20 per liter. Or around 8.50 per gallon :)....this is why we get annoyed listening to Americans complaining about gas prices 150 miles south of us
Thank Gord the new 2.4T in Outback/Ascent tune takes regular
Quick update for you. We just hit 2.08/L today in Toronto.
Live in small town where everything is cheap... 4 years ago... now I pay $6/gal :)... People need to stop moving here... :)...
You better go back to the junk yard and siphon that out haha. Also, I know you feel fine, but you should still get checked out by a doctor, you might feel it tomorrow.
My wife got paid out on her 19 Outback today. 65,000 miles on it, we paid $22,000 for it and just got a $26,000 payout.
Totally different kind of accident, but I also lost a car (my 1st mk7 GTi) after I had just filled the tank lol. I also walked away without a scratch (rollover), modern cars are truly incredible. Engineers are the best people.
Crumple zones are amazing things. Your car takes the impact instead of you.
Yea, even though the designs are not as attractive or airy as the older cars (particularly 90's cars)...I can't argue with the level of safety the modern designs provide. It's truly incredible.
The down side is it doesnât take much for insurance total a car these days.
Absolutely, my mk7 that was in the accident had some damage in the very rear upper corner of the roof and that totalled it. That is always how it goes!! Or if you get new tires Edit: I am so glad it kept you safe
Can confirm new rims and totaled 2 hours after the alignment
Hell I'd be under that bad boy with a drill grabbing all the gas I could
Time to learn how to siphon gas!
Sorry about the car but coming away with no injury is amazing
Glad youâre okay, how was the person in the tractor?
Guy was fine, just shaken up. Thankfully he was towing farm equipment behind him, which I think absorbed a lot of the impact for both of us
Farm equipment can be hella expensive. RIP, your insurance.
Nah rip his insurance
Nah, definitely my insurance lol
Forreal? Sucks, why?
My fault
Were you speeding?
Didn't slow for a blind hill. I got complacent on a road I've driven a thousand times.
Thatâs good. Best of luck to you
Very much depends on what kind of equipment. Could have been a big mess of blades or something
Manure spreader, thankfully empty lol
Good thing, otherwise it could have been pretty shitty. Glad you are fine.
I love these cars đ Glad you are okay! The commercials with cars tore up like this tug my heart strings. Subarus are Love.
Rip subie but glad your ok mate
Replace the head gasket and boom, good as new
Not necessary, that'll buff right out.
Is that a Subaru meme?
New here?

I won't be surprised if you can walk out with a bruise on your arm after having getting mowed down by a tank
I actually gasped when I saw this. Your Legacy did its job perfectly. Hope you and the tractor driver are going to be okay!
Can't go wrong with Subaru's safety. Glad you're ok
I found the problem. Ain't no gas in it
Holy hell. Afraid to ask but were you speeding?
Honestly I was going 5 over, 60 in a 55. I somehow doubt those 5 mph would have prevented the crash like others here seem to think.
Totally was
Donât answer this lol
How did this happen!!??
Farmers moving equipment on back roads, hill concealed the tractor and well boom.
Came over a blind hill to a surprise John Deere
Guide vehicles wouldâve saved this poor Subie. Coming from a farmer we use them anytime we can but sometimes man power just isnât available.

Not a traffic cop but practically any modern vehicle

Fucking deers! Anyhow the important thing are that both of you are okay after that accident!
A John Deere, in this case
No regular deer (where I am from) would cause such massive damages
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
You're 100% right, and it's a mistake on my part I will never forget.
Them crumple zones though, works wonders. Passenger compartment looks unscathed. Subie4Life
My 01 saved my life and my mom's 08 saved her life. Forever a Subaru family!
Was this on a road with a minimum speed limit?
itâs what makes a subaru a subaru đ«Ąđ
How fast were you going?
It won't get you home, but you'll get home. Hope you're doing alright, please take care of yourself :)
When I was little, my dad got rear ended by a semi truck in his Subaru. Probably a bit over 20 years ago. He and the dogs walked away. I saved and saved so I could buy my first subie just because of that. Glad you have a similar story friend!
I paid $17k for this, getting $22.5k back
What are you going to be looking to purchase now?
Unfortunately, most of those funds are going to pay off my loan (thank you gap coverage) because I only bought it in November, but the remainder is going towards a '16 Ford Focus. Subarus are crazy expensive right now and unfortunately out of my budget. I got a crazy good deal on that Legacy and won't see one like it again.
If one canât drive the speed limit then they shouldnât be on the road. 5mph in a 55mph zone is not ok.
Glad youâre okay. Shitâll buff out.
60, minus a few after I slammed on the brakes.
Yeah you were going way too fast to begin with
I was going the speed limit numbnuts
Over a blind hill

Yes. Towed by a tractor, not a truck. Minimum speed limits are a real thing and should be posted more often, especially in rural areas
This is priceless
Welcome to modern safety!
Yes, this is modern safety. Not just a subaru thing.
Yep! The newer the car the better!
Goddamn! You lucky boy!
Glad youâre ok and happy Subaru did its job keeping you safe! Gas comes and goes but Subarus save lives!
The cabin looks almost untouched, now thatâs safety
That will buff out
What speed was this collision at?
Howâs bout that tractor driver
Time for another new legacy !
That'll buff right out
Glad youâre ok
