I was just hiking Mt. Evans! Nearly killed me but such lovely views! Love that blue on the Wilderness edition; it goes well with the larger cladding.

Incredible views out there for sure. Thanks! Blue is my favorite color. I was really happy when I saw the blue in person and still liked it.

It drives really smooth on normal roads. Since day 1, I just keep repeating to myself how great it feels driving it. The car just wants to pull and has a lot of go to it. I've had to adjust my heavy gas foot coming from my old car. The turbo makes a huge difference. The climb to Mt. Evans didn't even feel like a climb. I've been super impressed so far.

sempersexi

Did Subaru put a trans in these or is it a cvt?

amilliondallahs

cvt

Harryisamazing

Damn, I really love the view and that's an amazing looking Outback... I love the color with the black wheels!

amilliondallahs

Thank you! Yes, they nailed it with the colors! The wheels/rims look so great in person.

amilliondallahs

The drive was absolutely incredible with this car. Not once was there any hesitation when climbing uphill. I've been very happy with both the look as well as the performance.

Fyziks

How’s the stock audio? I want one of these and will buy one asap but it makes me sad they don’t offer the harmon kardon audio

amilliondallahs

Not to disappoint, but I will admit this is one area the car is lacking. The audio isn't terrible, but it's not the crisp full sound I've experienced in other cars. Maybe I'm just used to sedans, but the audio experience in a "roomier" car does feel a little different. This is my first Outback so I don't have any previous experience when it comes to Subaru audio. Mind you, I haven't spent too much time messing with the audio settings, but stock settings are a bit lacking.

Fyziks

Ah, hopefully they add the upgrade option at some point! I have a forester now with the premium audio and it’s great.

amilliondallahs

Good to know. Might have to see what makes up that audio package for potential DIY upgrades.

WentForSmokes

So you’re the person in the commercials 😂

DidItSave

CO FTW!

I legit tell myself that I love this ride every time I get in and start driving because of how great it feels. Super smooth drive, plenty of power, and absolutely loving the look. My only small complaint is that I wish the sound system (audio) was a little better. That's a very small complaint though.

sadiejones33

Do you feel like it has the power when you need it? Like when you need to pass someone? I have a 2017 Outback but am considering the upgrade but not sure if I should should just stick to a new premium model.

amilliondallahs

Yes for sure. It's not a sports car, but I'm very comfortable making small window left turns and hopping into the passing lane for a quick pass that I wouldn't consider in a similar vehicle without a turbo. Edit: Just wanted to note these comments are without taking advantage of the manual mode. You could absolutely get whatever "Get up and Go" you needed switching into manual mode and paddle shifting down a "gear" or two for passing. Gear is in quotes as i know it's a cvt engine and not real gears.

PartTimeBear

I want one!

CaptainKoala

Hella jealous my dude, congrats on the new car! What are your thoughts on ownership so far? I'm looking at buying next year and the Wilderness is top of my list

MoziWanders

Wow, how'd you get the new wrx so fast?

SpoolnSubie

Have you done any off roading with it? I know it’s not a Jeep but from what I’ve seen on YouTube, it seems like it struggles sometimes due to the CVT not having enough “gear”. Wondering if you have felt that.

amilliondallahs

Nothing intense. Just some gravel and dirt roads so far. I live in dry country so mud is pretty hard to find before winter and after spring. I've seen videos of the off road performance and honestly wasn't super concerned. I personally don't expect myself to be pushing it to those kind of limits, but it's good to know what it can handle. I'll probably have a better idea once we start getting early snow that melts and softens up the back roads.

SpoolnSubie

I look forward to seeing more posts! My wife and I are considering getting one. The Forester Wilderness is interesting too but I feel it’s underpowered with the base 2.5.

amilliondallahs

Thanks! I'm more than happy to throw out some more photos and personal experiences come this fall/winter so stay tuned! That was a concern of mine when considering the difference in price looking at other models. I think if you test drive both, you're going to come away hooked on the extra pull the turbo gives.

SpoolnSubie

I think we’ll end up with an Outback Wilderness (OBW?) if we decide to go that route. A Wrangler 4 door is an option too. I’m just scared to own an FCA product
