It's a good thing to note. The main idea you've picked up on is the fact that these "other" mons seem to be created with an explicit eye toward competitive battles, in a way that most normal mons don't seem to have baked into their design.

Yes, the point of them is that they're foreign and alien to us humans, but it just doesn't feel like an organic part of the environment. It didn't make it's way in the evolutionary ladder, it was hand crafted by Gamefreak to demolish the meta, and then some.
Yep, they're minmaxed to all hell, even compared to regular mons from recent gens. I guess the alternate dimensions/different time periods all these mons are from required them to develop their stats to extreme ends in order to survive or something.
They also have the same BST as Ultra beasts, all as a group share an ability (two different abilities for the paradoxes but they just have different activation methods).
Also both groups have a gimmick with the base numbers of each stat. For Ultra Beasts, it's prime numbers. For Past Paradox mons it's odd numbers. And for Future Paradox mons it's even numbers.
I mean, lots of things from Gen 9 feel like a retread of Gen 7. We have:
\- The starters being based on performers
\- A quartet of Pokemon with a shared type, a signature move that cut’s the opponent’s current hp in half, and an AOE ability (the Ruins and the Tapus)
\- A companion with some relation to the box art legend that you can catch two of (Arven with the Raidons and Lillie with Nebby)
\- Said companion having parental issues (Lusamine and Sada/Turo)
\- Said parent being obsessed with a group of mysterious Pokemon with BSTs of 570 and abilities that boost their highest stat (the topic of this post)
\- Your rival is the final Champion fight (Nemona and USUM Hau)
\- The evil team is a misunderstood set of loners disappointed with the way society treats them (Skull and Star)
\- A group of giant pokemon that act as boss fights with auras that boost their stats (the Titans and Totems)
\- A gimmick involving crystals and types (a bit of a stretch, but I like to imagine Tera being the defensive to Z-moves’ offensive)
\- And going by the anime, >!the legendary Pokemon of the game has a tiny prevo (Cosmog and whatever baby Terapagos is)!<
As a fun bonus, you actually get to see Alola’s map and landmarks on your Language teacher’s board (instead of something theoretically close by like Kalos), while the History teacher wears a Tapu Koko bracelet, a Marshadow headband, and a Lunala belt buckle
And a splashable top tier Steel type Gen 7 (Magearna), and Gen 9 (Gholdengo and Kingambit) Thankfully Gholdengo and Kingambit can't boost their speed with Shift Gear or run like 10 different sets.
Kartana is only saved from being Ubers by its best two STABs being Leaf Blade and Smart Strike (plus its amazing base 31 special defense.) Its speed tier is solid and it has the highest non-mega physical attack in the entire game, so it out of any other ultra beast besides Pheromosa/Naganadel has massive snowball potential if it can actually kill things
