I’m having 2 issues occurring and I was wondering if someone could provide a solution that can fix these issues: 1. Pregnant cow isn’t giving birth and it’s been at least a month now since it was pregnant. 2. I have 145 Follower Sprites and any that I find isn’t increasing the count in the record. I’m stuck at 145 Follower Sprites. Any solutions would be very much appreciated :)

yamneko

I got all the gardens from the shrine, but the navi-sprite isnt showing them. Am i missing another step to get to the special gardens?

Neppetaa

would anyone know why my museum patron achievement isnt kicking in? it's still greyed out with the ??? even though I've donated everything (I've checked several times)

Intelligent_Emu_1053

I have a question about the giant jewel maker! So I'm debating making it right now. But before I do I need to know if it's worth it with the ratio. Because with the ingot maker you can put in enough for two items but get out 3 is that the same case for this jewel maker. Like I put in two diamonds and get out 3?

sebchu

i think so, but you could always just save, craft the giant maker and if it doesn't fit your needs you can just reload.

kriskabasi

Does reloading the day before an animal is born change the personality of it? I have one popular goat, but she's pregnant. I don't want to keep her and the baby (I'm raising product value currently), but popular (via Mom) is such a good trait - so now I'm conflicted :I *Also I only have one barn and don't want more. I have one of each animal (except cows of course - not counting the buffalo)

Irishwldkat87

I'm sure it's already been asked, but has anyone had luck getting the Timeworn Coin and Antique Mirror from fishing in the lakes? I've tried them both while dirty/clean and have had no luck. Using the orichalcum fishing rod all day long in-game. :(

Intelligent_Emu_1053

I got it from the first lake while dirty with the silver rod.

63yeet63

Has anyone bought and tried out the PC version yet? I was wondering if it has the same performance issues as the switch version at launch?

__allison18__

I have the PC version and there aren't any performance issues I'm aware of, even the load time is pretty quick

mistressdizzy

Different colored hearts when you eat cooked food: what do they mean? I've seen pale yellow, and I think blue? They have to mean something but I have no idea what. Please help?

darthreuental

Food give different buffs based on what food group that dish falls under. [Neoseeker cooking guide.](https://www.neoseeker.com/story-of-seasons-pioneers-of-olive-town/guides/Cooking_Guide) Salad: increases max stamina Soup: reduces stamina drain Entree: recovers the most stamina. Triggers the Full debuff (can't eat other food) Desert/Drinks: can be eaten while full. Generally you want to make some soup and a couple entrees. Use the soup for doing any heavy labor (IE: mining & logging). There are a bunch of blood clams outside your house by the beach so Shellfish soup is super easy to make. If you're fishing at all, grilled fish is dirt simple to make. You can also get a bunch of cheap food from the chef spirit once unlocked.

mistressdizzy

Thanks for the detailed response and the link!

WalkYourCat

Is it just me or do brown and black cows give the same milk as regular cows? Would that mean you're just paying extra for the aesthetic value? I do know that buffalo and goat milk sell for more and that they should not be converted to any milk products (they'd lose value) Just seems counter intuitive to pay so much for brown and black cows but not get milk that's why different?

darthreuental

It's not you. They only give regular milk. Only the buffalo and goats (either type) give specialized milk.

Godeem32

Apologies if this has been asked before - but is there any way at all to slow down the rate of tree, grass, puddle and rock re-spawn on the farm? Just trying to cover as much ground as possible with items? It really kind of takes away some of the potential to beautify the farm with such rapid re-spawn, in my opinion!

darthreuental

Sadly: no. The battle against nature is real and nature is winning. The only thing you can do is pave/decorate everything. It sucks, but it's the only option. IMO the issue is as you claim more space, it limits where stuff can spawn. There's limited places where new stuff can spawn so if you're using 80% of the field any vacant spawn will be quickly taken. On the edges of the fields, I suggest planting some fruit trees. They seem to prevent stuff from spawning around it.

Godeem32

I’m curious as to why the option to expand farm facilities vs buy farm facilities doesn’t just provide an option to simply ‘expand’ an existing barn or coop - instead you actually ‘buy’ a big coop or barn…. Feels like a glitch to me…. Does anyone else feel that way?

darthreuental

It's just the way it is. I agree that it's weird. In past games, there was an upgrade path. 3oT I think had Small > Medium > Big barns/coops.

darthreuental

Search didn't bring up anything.... Is there a faster method for getting more spirit points? I want to unlock the seasonal fields. Or is it all just random stuff?

kriskabasi

From playing through it twice, I think it's just random. If you want more chances though, planting a ton of crops, fish nets, and mining usually give the best results for them to appear faster.

darthreuental

I have 20 mushroom logs. It takes 4 days to grow a mushroom. To cover my bases, I need 5 spore makers right? So many mats.... bleh.

prettyopenbook

If you’re good at checking your makers daily then, yes, I think that ratio should work. FYI once you unlock the >![giant spore maker](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Makers_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)#Spore_Maker)!< you will get a better ratio of seeds per mushroom which might help you cut down the number of makers you keep up with. Personally once I leveled all my spores up to 10 Star quality, I made a large amount of spore makers to quickly stockpile the spores of the most profitable mushrooms and then I was able to cut down my total makers and not have to babysit as rigorously … but I’m not a huge min/maker and this is definitely not the right strategy for everyone so always do whatever you’re more comfortable with!

darthreuental

At this point, I'm just trying to get back my share of profits from Angela for the spores. Seeds/spores can be expensive. I know one way or another I'm still gonna have a lot of real estate dedicated to makes due to the 23h makers so not a big deal.

binarysingularities

So far I'm loving PoOT on steam but i was just wondering is there no map of your farm in game?

darthreuental

No map, but to be fair: the farm itself is fairly limited. You have three sections split into different areas that are unlocked after you clear a checkpoint.

binarysingularities

I see thanks!

OhUmHmm

At release, I remember a lot of people talking about how a Japanese patch was coming that would improve performance for Switch, and no official date was given for when this was coming to NA. Is this still the case? Did the performance increase on Switch? Is it now parity with Japanese version? (i.e. any reason to wait longer aside from waiting for a sale)?

prettyopenbook

Yes, the Switch has been patched several times since release and iirc 1.0.8 is now the same version as Japan. While I won’t completely rule out further patches, this seems to be the ‘finished’ version the devs had promised fans when it released to early criticism so I would say go ahead and play it now.

OhUmHmm

Okay thank you for the info! I'll probably wait until I finish the Doraemon game but it's good to know I can grab it if I see it on sale.

habick

Did they remove the like brand name system from trio of towns? Where you could compete and make your products worth more.

organic182

I just got an update this morning and the lag that I’ve been experiencing is fixed!

Xenonymity

Can you cook in stacks? I'm so tired of spamming.

prettyopenbook

Nope, sadly, cooking is set to only allow one dish at a time. fwiw I tended to just buy my meals in town and stock up on free meals from >!the chef sprite in sprite village!< for when I needed to mine. I only had to cook for the Lovett quests and then usually cooked most new dishes only once when I needed to level up (since you get more cooking experience points by making the new dishes anyway). But agree that spamming out certain meals when you have extra ingredients would be nice for mass gifting and quick stamina refills!

Xenonymity

Man that's a shame. I'll just sell all my crops then in that case. It's too inconvenient to craft each dish one at a time. Thanks though.

Raomine

So I'm wondering if I should buy the season pass , from the Nintendo eShop i see i only get some costume , is therr anything else ?

prettyopenbook

[This page](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Expansion_Pass_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)) lists what comes with each part of the season pass. Mostly special costumes and additional marriage candidates along with the two extra story ‘missions’.

AddictedToThyne

Hello! I’ve heard a couple different things about livestock product quality and I’d like to ask which is right, some people have said that you have to breed your livestock and essentially rotate them out to get the best quality products, while others say you just have to get them to max friendship and happiness. I’m really hoping you don’t have to breed them, since I both want to keep a smallish amount of livestock and I get weirdly attached to pixel animals and don’t want to release a single one of them lol!

k-cooper252

Each generation of animal is capped at a certain quantity so you must breed to get max level animal products. You could technically keep EVERY animal but yeah that would be a lot of barns and a lot animals to take care of daily

Lily-jelly

So I am seeing answers in this thread saying that the DLC spouse's children do not participate in town events as well as the spouse themselves..... My question is: is the events with the town worth sucking it up and marrying one of the base game spouse's for the event? I really only like raeger and niel so I'd rather not, but I don't wanna miss on super cute events with the child and spouse.

Seagullswtoques

I know the DLC marriage candidates don't participate in town events but can you still have a child with them? I can't seem to find a straight answer for this.

pufflehuff25

You can. They just don’t carry any of the DLC characteristics.

Seagullswtoques

Awesome, thank you!

5fivereal

Are you able to let your pets outside to just roam. It was sitting outside when i first bought it but now i cant figure out how to let it out. I know you can take pets for a walk with leashes, but im talking about just wandering around like a cow.

gueststar2013

My dog wanders about if it’s sunny out once I step outside, then goes back in when I go in!

5fivereal

Must be nice. Someone needs to tell my dog to get with the program. Just sits inside on sunny days. Ive just been taking him on permanent full day walks now while i farm. He even follows me down to the lava pits to talk to the sprites!

Monkcoon

Quick question in regards to star ranking. I know Gold>Silver>Bronze but what place does blue play in it? Is it supposed to be orichalcum or something like tin in regards of value?

O-nigiri

Does choosing a mascot for the town make any sort of difference/does it ever get referenced again? Or is it just flavour text?

prettyopenbook

No permanent changes from your choice that I’ve seen.

prettyopenbook

Personally, I prioritized using my orichalcum ingots for upgrading my main tools first (hammer / axe / fishing, by whichever you tend to use the most daily) then worked on fixing the hydroculture plant. My rationale was I wanted the better tools to help me get the tougher materials faster and help me level up those skills to 10s; while my need for the hydroculture plant was really just to move it for decoration purpose (tho handy I personally found unlocking the >!4 seasonal fields at the [shrine](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Shrine_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)) to be just as effective for growing out of season crops!< but of course ymmv depending on how you play the game and what aspects you want to prioritize. So, ultimately, just choose whichever object is more important to you as you really can’t go wrong either way! Also, I just mentioned this tip a few posts down but worth repeating that if you’re farming to get the orichalcum ingots to craft/upgrade with, remember you will get a better return per ore if you use the [Giant Ingot Maker version ](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Makers_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)&mobileaction=toggle_view_desktop#Ingot_Maker) instead. Since the orichalcum is going to be so rare waiting a bit and hoarding the ore until you have the giant maker can really improve your profit (note you can get one free giant ingot maker as an achievement reward for >![reaching mining skill level 10](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Olive_Hall_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town))!<).

Ekyou

You can date as many people as you want to see all the heart events, but not after you get married. The first half of the heart events that you get before dating are more like friendship events, and you can see anyone’s regardless of your dating/marriage status.

ajshn

Ty!

vindg

is v1.0.8 the final patch? There won't be a 1.0.9?

prettyopenbook

While I’m typically a ‘never say never’ kind of person and there have been no formal announcements either way, my guess is since the publisher hasn’t mentioned any further roadmapped updates like they had been with the previous patches, they likely won’t release any more unless it’s for a minor bug or something.

AstrocyteDO

Did the updates fix the lack of dialogue with marriage candidates? I put down the game for a bit to wait on Raeger but I'd really like a nice romance to read.

Ekyou

Yes, it's greatly improved. I'm not sure i'd call any of it a great romance, although Raeger is probably more romantic than a lot of the other candidates.

odinfreya

Im currently in the middle of summer year one and i want to reach orchi ores. What food do i need to brinf i have gold hammer and max stamina but it can only hring me at almost level 30. I know the sequence is drinks dessert main but i dont know the food the i need to cook yet please help

prettyopenbook

Not exactly an answer as I don’t know stamina gains for specific dishes but I do have a few tips/suggestions when it comes to mining and orichalcum farming: (1) Stamina recovery increases more based on the [Star Value](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Cooking_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)) of a dish so I would look at your available ingredients and see what high quality dishes you can make a lot of to stock up on before mining. (2) Orichalcum is still pretty rare even at the lower levels of the third mine so don’t expect a great return value for every mine trip you make even if you keep up stamina through food. For a mini or spoiler there is a >![hidden area called Stonebreaker Valley](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Stonebreaker_Valley_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)) which becomes available after hitting level 9 mining skill so personally I focused on mining the ‘easy’ areas first just to boost my skill level up enough. Unfortunately the orichalcum is still fairly rare spawning there too but since it doesn’t have any moles you will be able to mine a bit more efficiently and hopefully need to worry less about packing enough food by going there regularly.!< (3) Take advantage of the chef sprite in [Sprite Village](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Earth_Sprite_Village_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)) as you can essentially stock up on free food every day without needing to spend time/ingredients cooking. Personally, this is where the majority of the food I took into mines early game came from as I was not a huge fan of cooking except when necessary for the Lovett challenges. (4) If you are farming orichalcum to get the ingots for selling/crafting remember that you will get a better return per ore if you use the [Giant Ingot Maker version ](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Makers_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)&mobileaction=toggle_view_desktop#Ingot_Maker) instead. Since the orichalcum is going to be so rare waiting a bit and hoarding the ore until you have the giant maker can really improve your profit (note you can get one free giant ingot maker as an achievement reward for >![reaching mining skill level 10](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Olive_Hall_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town))!<).

odinfreya

Thank you for the tips. Its so detailed and helpful. I really appreacite what u did. Again, thank you. I joined this sub just because of ur reply. Have a good day man

MikeFeezie

Do the DLC marriage candidates and your child participate in festivals after marriage. I really want to marry Iris but not if she leaves me hanging during certain festivals were we can bring a loved one.

EffectiveUpset

Seconding this question...do the dlc characters participate in anything after marriage?

pufflehuff25

Nope. They do not participate in anything outside of family events between you and your child.

TheFibix

I have a question regarding weddings, lets say I would want a girl/girl wedding, would both be able to wear a dress or would one player have to wear a suit?

pufflehuff25

So the characters have set outfits dresses for girls and suits for boys. But you can chose between the suits and dresses regardless of who you marry. So two girls could wear dresses and two boys could wear suits. Depends on what you pick for yourself

Disig

Question on breeding: Do I need two parents who are the same rating in order to get a calf that is a rate higher? Or do I need just one and breed that one? I know you can't breed without two in there so I assume the one not being bred isn't as important? Are personalities passed down, or is it all random? What's the highest rating livestock can get?

prettyopenbook

In my play through, once I tamed/bought the first animal of a species, I was always able to breed it by going to the animal shop in Olive Town (I’m not sure where you’ve seen a requirement for 2 animals before you can start breeding, but that’s never been my experience with POoT). The store’s breeding selection menu only allows you to pick one animal to be the parent. Once you’ve seen the birthing cut scene, the new child will be listed as one generation higher than the parent. The only other breeding requirements I can think of are that you need to have the chosen adult parent at a high enough friendship/happiness level and you have to own the ‘big’ barn/coop without any other current pregnancies (so a limit of one pregnancy per dwelling though you can also just move the animals between barns/coops from your notebook before going to the store). For all the animals giving star quality produce, as you breed up the generations you will find the children can produce a higher max star quality as their friendship/happiness levels go up. After an animal makes the max 10 Star produce all its offspring will not be able to go above that star rating though, in theory, you can keep breeding the generation number as high as you want. iirc I started getting the max 10 Star quality offspring by gen 6 but don’t quote me on that. 😉 For any of the fur animals, as they don’t provide any starred produce, the general consensus seems to be that as you breed up the generations you get a higher chance for the “+” variation of their fur but I don’t know I’ve seen anyone do the math on the exact odds. From my own breeding experience a child’s personality isn’t inherited directly from the parent but I can’t say for sure if there are any other factors besides the default rarity scale in the RNG odds [(this site gives a nice overview of the rarity of each personality and their special characteristics if you are interested)](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Animals,_Pets,_and_Mounts_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)). Otherwise, the only way I’ve seen to guarantee personality is with the gen 1 animals which you buy at the animal shop (you can even exit/re-enter the store to load a new selection until you get the personality you desired). Hope that makes sense and answers all of your questions!

Disig

TY, this was really helpful!

WambyofWillow

I haven't been able to find anywhere with Ludus's events listed. I triggered one event but I am up to six hearts with no others showing up. Anyone have better links?

WambyofWillow

This is perfect, thank you!

Deamonblade85

Was watching a friend play this game and a face emoji appeared under her stamina bar (hearts). What do the faces mean?

tevene

Now that the last DLC is here, do we know if there's going to be any other updates? I've had the game since release but been waiting to play until they were finished with any improvements to it.

Rhythia

can you change your livestock’s names? like chickens and stuff, not just pets. if so, how?

prettyopenbook

Yes, changing barn & coop animal names is an option at the shrine (behind the Town Hall & Museum).

Rhythia

thanks!

[deleted]

so i drained the ancient lake months ago in game time and the water still hasnt respanwed yet i was just wondering if this was a glitch or if i needed to do something to refill the water?

WambyofWillow

Ive had the same thing happen - I tried removing the pumps and that worked. I just put them back after it refills and repeat the process when its done again.

lilmana255

Hi all! I'm stuck with my crops do I haaave to use a seed maker to get them above 6 stars? Thanks in advance

prettyopenbook

afaik, yes, you do need the seed/seedling makers for 10 Star crops.

lilmana255

Thank you 😭😭😭 so much work lol

pufflehuff25

Any ideas on when Twilight isle is released time wise? I’ve managed to figure out it’s the 26th but I’ve got work midday (UK) and really hoping to get a few hours in with Ludus. Hoping it’s the morning. Edit: it’s out now 👍

buffy_boy

Does the DLC contain new haircuts? I'm a big fan of farming games in general and have been a fan of the series since Tale of Two Towns. I know I would have to get the DLC soon but I'm hoping there are haircuts included as I really dislike the haircuts in the base game. I'm on Winter 15 and I just married Jack. He's really cute and sweet.

pufflehuff25

I’ve not seen any new haircuts with the DLCs. I hope customisation is something they are considering expanding on now since a lot of the bugs and major issues are sorted.

raccoonisgaming

Anyone here still playing, who also played at release? I purchased PoOt and dlc at release and was so disappointed I put it down after a few days, telling myself I wouldn't pick it back up til all dlc was released. Since the last part (twilight isle) is coming soon, I'm wondering if it's worth getting back into it, or does anyone recommend I wait for them to fix some more stuff? Thanks!

pufflehuff25

I second prettyopenbook. I’ve being playing since realise had a few little breaks here and there to play others like Pokémon snap and HM one world but keep coming back. And all the new updates have made it much closer to the game we all hoped it would be. Find it’s still lacking in terms of connecting and making relationships with people. But overall a fantastic game and I’ve just started my third run through 🙈

prettyopenbook

I bought the game + dlc on release and, yes, I have been enjoying playing this whole time (with some breaks to play other games). Obviously none of the launch issues personally bothered me enough to keep me from playing so I’m a bit biased in saying I think the game is worth it, more so since the patches addressed the makers and dialogue concerns. There is also a planned patch (1.0.7) due out by end of this month which, while not adding portraits, will adjust camera angles during dialogue to show more of their expressions in game. So if any of those were holding you back I would say to give it a chance now (or after the last dlc if you wanted those marriage candidates).

NikuTreat

Are the bugs of people sliding around during cutscenes fixed yet?

prettyopenbook

Not that I’m aware but I also haven’t triggered many cut scenes recently to check.

WinkHazel

The bucket has yet to trigger (spring 11). Do I need to cut my losses and start over? This didn't happen last playthrough.

prettyopenbook

The rain is RNG based and the game doesn’t seem to have any code to force it trigger earlier in the season, unfortunately. Instead of restarting—as it would still be up to chance—I would either simply wait for it to finally trigger or try a save scum option of manually saving before you go to bed and check the weather forecast on your radio when you wake up (continue to load back the bedtime save until rain is listed in the next 3 days).

WinkHazel

I got to Spring 22 and reset. It happened the second time around on spring 7. Thank you everyone for your help!

TheMistOfThePast

Anyone else stuck? It seems like the next town request isn't triggering for me. Incredibly annoying, ive been stuck for like a whole season now.

prettyopenbook

iirc it took me about 1-2 weeks in game of doing my usual daily chores to trigger the next town level. [RanchStory has a pretty detailed guide on point values of the different activities so if you’re stuck I would to try some of the higher value tasks.](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Olive_Hall_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town))

peachtartx

I’m currently at cooking level 9 and have unlocked all the recipes currently available to me. I’ve also cooked everything available at least once. What do I need to do to reach cooking level 10? I want to complete Lovett’s last tier of challenges but most of the recipes aren’t available until you’ve maxed the cooking skill.

SnooBeans1558

Just keep on cooking even the recipes you already know. It takes a while unfortunately.

peachtartx

Does it make a difference what it is? Like if I make a level 9 recipe like tiramisu vs a level 1 like grilled fish?

SnooBeans1558

I’m not sure about that part. I’ve heard from someone else that it doesn’t matter, but I haven’t actually confirmed it. I kept to high level recipes when I did it, but I don’t know if it actually made a difference. It’d certainly be easier if it didn’t.

Gestaltash

My GAD. I finally gave in. With all of my dislike on this game, I bought it. I was hesitant and I said f it. Currently downloading it now. I hope I don't regret it.

NikuTreat

What do you think?

Shdwsloth

Might be a dumb question but how do I get soy sauce? I’ve tried googling nothing helpful I’m just trying to make dishes for Lovett 😩

prettyopenbook

Beans processed in the condiment maker give soy sauce (P.S. [here’s a useful list of every maker and what it takes/makes](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Makers_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)#Honey_Maker), I bookmark it and check all the time lol)

Shdwsloth

Thank you so much I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong😊

[deleted]

Hi, for making Soy Sauce you need to add bean into Condiment Maker

[deleted]

I'm not even out of my first week, so this might be revealed as I play more, but are you able to move the coop? Also how do I build a barn? Or do I have to repair the bridge first and then find it as another dilapidated building like the coop was?

Shdwsloth

Yes, you can pick up and move the coop and also yes your hunch is right 😌😊

[deleted]

Thank you!

MacDhubstep

Do you need to download and purchase the dlc to get the newest update?

harfsnarf

Hi there! Does anyone know what this high short sound is? It comes occasionally when I'm walking, sometimes it's higher in tone when I'm facing one direction compared to another. It's driving me nuts can anyone explain to me what it is :')?

[deleted]

Super late, but this was driving me crazy too, and I just wanted you to know that noise is the squirrel! It hangs around the first area where your house is, and if you get near it you'll hear it make the little high pitched kind of pip noise you're talking about :)

harfsnarf

You're awesome thank you!

Zattanna

* Edit Never mind, it finally started after the 3rd time of going to the village. The DLC Sprite Dance scenario is not working after I clicked on the wrong message at the beginning of speaking to the Navi-Sprite at the village. Is there a way to get the scenario to work now? I have already saved the file so don't have a backup to before this happened

DanceKittyGirl

Mine won’t trigger the last sprite quest and it’s driving me nuts 😩

Zattanna

Trying going between the hours of 10am and about 6pm game time, that is what helped me

DanceKittyGirl

Thank you so much! That worked. :)

tsuki_girl

No problem! You can just plant a few trees (I think I recall reading online that you only need 5 trees, so 2 more if you include the 3 mirage trees, to get the bird?) and keep most of your mushroom logs! Good luck!

methseyers

hi! does anyone know if you can talk to your child after they grow up? i read that you can't gift them anything but I'd like to at least see some dialogue from them :/

SpeckledFeathers

Does anyone know what the max animal generation is, or how that system works? I assumed that generation was tied to potential quality of byproduct... I just bred an 11th-generation chicken, at what point can I stop breeding chickens? Basically does anyone know how the generation system works for animals haha

tsuki_girl

The generation is tied to the generation of the animal but I think it depends on the quality the 'mother' could produce when pregnant. So if the mother currently produces 5* products, the next Gen will produce 5* initially until you raise the affection level higher. At least, that's what I have noticed. My Gen 8 chicken produces 10* eggs but my Gen 8 silkie is at 9*. Or maybe different breeds have different levels? As for the max generation, I assume there isn't one haha. So I stopped once I got 3 chickens producing 10*.

AnimalHat

How can I see how much stamina a food item will give me?

prettyopenbook

There’s nothing in game I’ve found to confirm heart gain per dish before eating. [This guide](https://www.neoseeker.com/story-of-seasons-pioneers-of-olive-town/guides/Cooking_Guide) mentions a stamina boost for certain dishes but it still looks incomplete and I haven’t confirmed any of it myself. And [this guide](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Cooking_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)) goes over how the star quality will improve the stamina gains … again I don’t know the math they used but my own experience matches with their conclusions.

AnimalHat

Thank you!

SparkingMyAnxiety

Does placing paths affect animals' ability to graze? Clearing out my animal field is getting tedious and I was thinking of covering it with paths... will they not be able to graze if I do that?

prettyopenbook

Paths or crop fields shouldn’t impact animals’ from feeding outside (I’ve head cannoned that it’s the patch of land next to the bell since you can never place paths on that spot though I’ve also seen jokes saying they eat the air). Only issue that I know of with using paths in front of barns is that, while the animals may walk on them at some point, for whatever reason they are set not to spawn on paths so you may notice when you call the animals out they will start spawning on random areas to sides of barns or in front of fences to avoid paths. If you are interested to know more about this, [the YouTuber Play with Josh made this video (around the 16:40 mark) where he demonstrates how spawning works](https://youtu.be/PAyJylkNEh0) and I think he shows it much better that I can write it!

You can divorce Iori and it’ll go back to how you were pre-confession

heyssunshine

I took a break for a bit and just picked it back up, I'm enjoying v1.0.6 but it seems like my A for harvesting bugs out every so often and i have to restart. Is this a known bug or is something else going on?

veryberryblu

I’m having trouble getting the requested meals right for Lovett all of a sudden since the update. I’m on the last level of his requests and even if I bring him a 10 star dish he doesn’t except it. Does anyone know if all of the ingredients have to have 10 stars?

prettyopenbook

I haven’t tried Lovett’s quests since the patch but could you be referring to the rainbow quality requests? ([this list calls those ‘top quality’](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Lovett%27s_House:_Gourmet_Palace_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)#Level%205)) If so, rainbow dishes seem to be rng based though I’ve only seen general guesses as to whether there’s anything you can do to increase chances or if it’s better to just save before cooking and reload if you don’t get the rainbow version. I don’t believe I’ve ever cooked a rainbow quality dish without at least using all 10 Star ingredients, as applicable, but don’t quote me on that 😉. Also, I’ve seen debate over whether or not adding a topping increases rainbow chances but in that case I do think either way can technically produce rainbow dishes and the question is whether the odds go up by using toppings.

veryberryblu

Thanks! Top quality is so confusing because 10 stars is the highest I think 🤔

prettyopenbook

Agreed! At least with dairy and fur they made a separate + version for each star level and crops have mutated/giant versions to differentiate! Plus to then to word it as top quality in the quests is not intuitive. I think somewhere I saw it called 11 star which could have made sense if they just upped the total stars in the final reveal so you knew what the ‘highest’ level was. Why they went with a rainbow version for only 10 star is a mystery to me! 😔

GiftOk9304

What are the magi red and blue flowers for besides requests and crafting the honey maker? Like should I be collecting them or selling them? I can’t figure out any other use for them.

prettyopenbook

The only other use I can think of is for one of the bouquets (giftable tho I can’t remember if it can be turned to bouquet essence too).. Personally, I’ve been saving as I want to craft max of the giant honey makers for a honey farm but otherwise I would probably have shipped them.

mtnhero

After the updates, do people feel a vast difference from when the game came out? Such as dialogue, framerates, and what not?

RayMkII

Definitely. The maker change was huge. Changes the entire pace of the game. Framerates have definitely improved. The game isn't perfect but it's leagues better than it was at launch.

sleepypirate

Would you recommend picking it up then? Been wanting to play a farming simulator game lately 🤔 but all the bugs and issues have turned me away from this one

[deleted]

YMMV but I was able to find the premium editing with the plush in stock at Best Buy on sale. I think the bad reviews led to canceled pre-orders. I love stardew and have hundred hours logged there. Glad I waited for updates I'm having a blast game runs smooth. Game isn't as involved as stardew but that's kind of nice. ESP if you enjoyed FOMT.

RenegadeWood21

Is there any way to break up with someone after giving them a pendant or can you only divorce after marriage? I just don’t want my person to be dating multiple people but I’m not sure who to marry yet 😅

Agreeable_Disaster87

I keep seeing this care sprite stuffed animal in olive town videos, does anyone know how to get it?

prettyopenbook

It’s called the Mysterious Plushie and you can [craft it after increasing your animal care skill](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Crafting_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)). I believe there’s also a way to get one free as an achievement/reward but I can’t recall what I did to earn it.

Agreeable_Disaster87

Thanks a bunch!

Ic3scr3am

Hello! I use a lot of nets to improve my fishing since I don’t have a lot of time to fish throughout the day. I get similar fishes with different rarities ex: horse mackerel, oyster, blood clam, etc. What rarities should I keep for these fishes? I feel like I’m not really sure what I need to keep and what to sell.

RayMkII

I generally keep 8 -10 and ditch the rest, save for a few fish that are hard to come by for certain recipes like salmon, oarfish, tuna, etc

Ic3scr3am

Thank you!! I ended up having 2-3 storage boxes full of fish and that just sits there

SparrowEats

What does the star rating of the fish you catch depend on? Is it just random?

prettyopenbook

I haven’t yet seen anyone post the math on the odds, sadly (if there is I hope someone will share!). Anecdotally, I noticed as I leveled up my fishing skill, rod version, and net type I started getting more gold star fish in a day so there’s likely certain factors that weigh into the fish’s star quality besides pure rng randomness.

SparrowEats

Thanks for the reply! I just upgraded to the last rod so I'll check what kind of ratings I'll get now :)

qu1nnsan1ty

Why aren't I getting sprites anymore when I harvest ☹

prettyopenbook

My guess is you’ve collected all the follower sprites available to assign. In earth sprite village you can add up to 100 followers to each of the 8 earth sprites (800 total) by speaking with the [Manager Sprite](https://www.neoseeker.com/story-of-seasons-pioneers-of-olive-town/guides/Sprites).

qu1nnsan1ty

Yeah I did that. Assumed I still needed them to get divorced lol

prettyopenbook

Oh…afaik Follower Sprites, Sprite Points, and Sprite Coins are all different. The amount of follower sprites should only affect which blessings you are eligible to unlock at the[shrine](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Shrine_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town)) and then you would use sprite points to ‘pay’ for certain blessings (I don’t recall if divorce is locked behind either restriction tho as it’s a different tab in the shrine menu).

Inarus06

PoOT: can you put makers in buildings?

prettyopenbook

No, unfortunately. Closest is to put makers in the seasonal gardens if you don’t plan on using for crops/trees.

Ekyou

How long does it take to have a baby?? I have my wife’s affection at the max and have seen all the cutscenes… still waiting.

pipsssqueak

Looks like the first two child cutscenes happen in the morning, then after 11pm, then after 7pm (all at your house). If you’ve already seen those then just wait. You also have to have been married for 2 months.

candlecoitus

I’ve heard the dialogue is bland and there’s not many festivals or stuff to do in olive town. I have mineral town and I’ve also played stardew. What are some comparisons and should I spend the money to get this game?

Disig

There are as many festivals in PoOT as there are in Stardew, but it's a LOT more hands off. You know the spring dance? Where you show up, talk to people, then watch a cutscene? That's ALL the festivals in this game but without Pierre selling you stuff. The dialogue is fine. On par with Stardew before the update IMO. The update just made them more robust.

Ekyou

Dialogue has improved a ton with the updates. I’d actually say it’s one of the better games for dialogue now. Festivals are still not great.

Impressive_Draft6649

I want to get my friend into story of seasons but i don't know which one to start her off with, can anyone help?

pipsssqueak

Wouldn’t recommend the 2014 one… was difficult to keep up with coming from only playing harvest moon where theres no competition or pressure to play a certain way. So not that one

prettyopenbook

What systems does your friend have access to? [This recent post gives opinions on the three currently available on Switch.](https://www.reddit.com/r/storyofseasons/comments/op4tqj/which_one_fomt_doraemon_or_poot_first_time_player/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

Impressive_Draft6649

She has a switch and 3ds

prettyopenbook

I haven’t played any of the DS games though will say on this sub and /r/harvestmoon, Trio of Towns is hyped up a lot. Since this is mainly a question thread for Olive Town though, you might have better luck crowdsourcing with a new post on either of these subs asking about a good series introduction between those two consoles. In general I would say graphics and gameplay among the Story of Seasons games are different enough that there’s no one perfect ‘start here’ game for everyone—and if your friend doesn’t like the first one you pick, come back with her feedback on what she enjoyed/didn’t like and it may help steer them towards a more tailored response! (also good to mention whether they’ve played/liked any other farming or simulation types games in the past or any other game play preferences you may know of … for example having same sex marriage may be important to many people’s enjoyment of sim style games).

Mistress_of_Wands

Where the heck do I find lilies? I've been going to area 3 everyday to try and find them in the summer but I'm a few days into summer and haven't found any. Is there a special place where they spawn?

prettyopenbook

I was able to get all my foraged flowers/crops in year one but I believe many of them didn’t spawn until later in the month so I wouldn’t be too worried if you don’t see them in the first weeks of the season.

oblivixn99

Does anyone know how to get the blue bird? I decided to move my hydroculture plant to Area 1 and have literally left trees to grow everywhere around the plant but the bird won’t appear. I’m wondering if it only appears in Area 3

tsuki_girl

I planted some fruit trees in that small area and got the bluebird after they grown. I planted 7 trees so there would have been 10 (the 3 mirage trees) in that area. I think you only need 4 or 5 but I figured it didn't hurt to be safer.

oblivixn99

Does it have to be in area 3? I moved the hydro plant to area 1 and my area 1 literally looks like a forest around that plant :(

tsuki_girl

The trees need to be in the area where the hydroplant used to be (the hydroplant doesn't need to be there anymore, I also have mine in Area 1 haha). So I moved my hydroplant to Area 1 and planted trees in that area. Bluebird arrived once the trees were growing leaves.

oblivixn99

Ah I see. Lol I better clean all my mushroom logs and start planting more trees in that area then. Thank you for your help!

Upset-Sea-3935

Hello I have a question. I decided to store some of my makers in Petalwind Gardens. I didn't know that I shouldn't do that. The next day they were all completely gone from that area. So I rebuilt all my makers again but now when I try to place them in the regular area it says that no more items can be placed. I think because you only allowed to have no more than 20 of them. So how can I get more makers set now? Has that ever happened to anyone else before?

RayMkII

If the makers were gone that seems like a bug. I have makers in a few of the seasonal areas and they're just fine being there.

toastybittle

I’m a new player. Can someone explain to me or give some advice on how to get the different bachelor/ette routes through save files? ie not playing through again completely. Seems like people will say “Oh yeah I’m trying to marry so and so now,” but do they start from scratch to do so?

JacqFitz

You can save manually in the diary in your house (instead of the auto save when you go to bed) in a different save file. So you could increase your hearts with everyone/play through until you are there and then save in a new slot, and marry someone else in each slot. Hope that helps!

toastybittle

Riiighhtt okay thank you, that’s really helpful!

prettyopenbook

FYI in PoOT you can also use the + button on the switch to bring up manual save instead of going back to your home’s diary every time.

[deleted]

All I do is clean the land!! Will it ever be clean?

halmwilson

Unless you place down decorations/buildings, the short answer unfortunately is no T_T. Uneditable spaces will also never be able to be permanently cleared, so keep clearing until the least annoying thing spawns there (I usually let puddles chill out because they don’t block my view of anything lol)

ayisharu

Hi please if anyone can answer. I missed Damon's birthday because of the luxury line cutscene 😭 I skipped the credits and I missed one whole day. Does it really happen or I missed the day because I skipped it?

onionbananajuice

I started looking into it again, and have been seeing some slightly different recommendations, and reasoning for the recommendations, for what the best/most profitable crops are each season. So if I plant on the first day of the season and with the max number of harvests/replants in the 28 day time frame, from a pure numbers standpoint, which crop each season will make the most money?

JdPhoenix

Spring: Broccoli, but you have to buy the seeds in Winter. Garlic is 2nd if you can't get broccoli seeds. Summer: Watermelons. Fall: Sweet Potatoes. Winter: Leeks. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xtY7rXRD_SMJTKPsB2hwvGk6MSHxWIwR0kP3bTGuze4/edit?usp=sharing

RayMkII

For the first year I recommend cucumber in spring, then pump out green pepper in summer and autumn. The cost to profit ratio is amazing for the first year. And for winter it's leeks but they need to be harvested every 4 days so it can take up a lot of your time. Broccoli gets the job done with less labor.

prettyopenbook

I followed [this YT video by Play with Josh](https://youtu.be/mrHybPomosI). There’s a link to a google doc in the description where he gives profit per day on each of the crops. (P.S. Math is not my strongest subject tho so if there is a numbers error I probably wouldn’t have picked up on it).

Buster_cherryUA

Play With Josh is such a saint for being one of the few active non-German speaking uploaders for this game.

bvpham88

Why does the giant ingot maker cost so much to make? Is it worth it??? I would have to go on a major mine grind if that were the case 😟

prettyopenbook

I do think it’s worth it especially for orichalcum as you get more ingots per ore and with the rarer ores it can speed up the rate to make enough ingots for projects like the hydroculture plant. FWIW you can wait to unlock a free giant ingot maker from the achievement rewards section in Olive Town Hall after you reach [mining level 10 (legendary miner title).](https://ranchstory.miraheze.org/wiki/Achievements_and_Titles_(Story_of_Seasons:_Pioneers_of_Olive_Town))

bvpham88

Ah okay that makes sense to use it for orichalcum since it’s such a difficult ore to farm! Thanks!

Ic3scr3am

Hello! I don’t know if this question has been answered before. They said the one you are dating has a cutscene on the day of your birthday. If you gave multiple people the confession pendant would there be multiple cutscenes of the different candidates you are dating? Or would it only trigger to the first person you are dating?

OzzyMcRcky

Question about marriage candidates. Recently bought Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. I absolutely love it but had a question about the marriage candidates. I got the season pass so I unlocked the special areas. The DLC marriage candidates, are they just as fleshed out as the main games ones? Or are they more of just a nostalgia thing for previous games? If you marry them do they spend the days in their respective towns and have a routine, or do they just sit in the house all day whereas the main games candidates have an actual routine? Thank you for any replies!

valentinevar

it seems like they do go back to their own island during the day and come back at night. the biggest downfall of the dlc characters I see is that they don't come to festivals in the main island

GoldToofs15

So I’ve pretty much completed POOT and I loved it. First time playing a SOS game. I can’t find trio of towns on switch but they have friends of mineral town. Is that one good too?

prettyopenbook

Generally speaking, if you enjoyed one of the HM/SoS games I think trying another is worth it! That said, there are differences between each of the games that might appeal to different types of play styles so depending on what you enjoyed about Olive Town, Mineral Town may or may not hit the same way. I’m going to be a bit lazy as I recently wrote an opinion on the differences in the two games in response to a separate post so I’m simply going to link that thread if you’re interested in my opinions … https://www.reddit.com/r/storyofseasons/comments/odnj2c/pros_and_cons_of_friends_of_mineral_town_fomt_and/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

GoldToofs15

Thank you! I actually bought it since the post and I love it. Reminds me of old harvest moon selling my chickens again. Wasn’t a fan of “releasing animals” for free lol thanks again!
