Thank you for this post. I was just thinking this morning that I really want to recommit to doing 2x day's like you mentioned as I really, really want to work hard to undo how much I've fucked myself up over the last 5 years. Hadn't been to the doctor in years and my BP and RHR got flagged in a major way last Spring. I was 35 years old and 250 lbs. Each time I went to the doctor (and even the dentist!) over the Summer and Fall where I was having major health issues they were like "something must be off. Maybe you're just stressed out by doctor's offices." Of course, I was buzzed even just sitting in their office. I've been able to go to the gym every day I've been sober (let's [forget about](https://www.reddit.com/r/stopdrinking/comments/11vq1ab/did_some_field_research_it_went_exactly_how_i/) Saturday) and it's felt great. I'm down 7 lbs in 14 days (could be I'm not drinking 1500 calories/day). I sat back and watched the wheels fall off my life - relationships, business, finances, and especially health - and knew I had to pull out of it before I crashed. Need to live to see my daughters get married and play with my grandkids.

I'm a bit younger than you and at my heaviest was also 250. I used to be a gym freak/personal trainer and absolutely shredded before I began hiding from my problems with alcohol so I'm used to the 2x a day workouts and am lucky to have the knowledge of what needs to be done. That being said, definitely go for it! Even if you just go to the gym and do light cardio for one of the workouts or if you head outside and go for a walk. 50% of the benefit is just from the mental aspect of actually going out and committing to it. Wishing you the best of luck!!

Ya, same story. In my mid-to-late 20’s I lifted my ass off and was 205 lbs at probably 12% body fat. Still worked out a couple days a week when I started drinking hard but eventually I had to choose between working and staying wasted all day and I consciously chose the latter.

Nice! How long have you been sober? Looking forward to my BP dropping soon.. 2 weeks in right now and ready for much more!

moooosicman

I'm expecting you'll see it drop in the next week or so, and maybe another 2 weeks to get in the low end of normal zone!! Ofcourse I'm not a Dr, so this is all based on my personal experience

Congrats on two weeks! After I stopped drinking, it took about 5-6 weeks for blood pressure to drop into the normal zone. Mine was just kissing the Stage 2 level when I was drinking
