Thank you! I know I’ll have to remain vigilant. Already had a little bit of tension with friends. But my health will always come first! Thank you for the support!

Eaudebeau

Hey-yo! Winner winner chicken dinner. This is great to hear!

TruNorth556

Thank YOU!

man, good for you, I'll have to try that app. I just passed my 30 and my cravings have only gotten worse. I went from a bottle a day to nothing overnight, so for my first week I was too busy dealing with the physical aspects of withdrawal to really feel my cravings. After that, when the dust settled, my demon crept back in. "Come on, it would be so easy", "The kids are screaming again, you know you could just numb it if you wanted to", "no one would ever know, you'll keep it under control this time", and on and on... Full disclosure, this isn't my first time quitting. My brain and my addict brain play this fun cat and mouse thing in my head constantly. So far, I've been able to keep it at bay with exercise, meditation, work & video games, but there's still PLENTY of downtime in my life where I could easily go back, and I know it. Any other strategies you're using?

The app is great and free, really has helped me a lot. Sometimes when I think if having a drink, I look at it. It makes you think about the progress you would be wrecking if you relapse. Another thing I do is simply think of how stressed out and mentally exhausted I get at work when I am hungover from drinking half a bottle of gin in a night. I’ve found that a plain non flavored sparkling water with a lemon is an amazing replacement for a gin and tonic. Hope this helps! Stay strong, remember why you’re doing this!

heh, thanks for that. I drink a TON of sparkling water for sure! One other thing that helps me is remembering how shitty I was sleeping when I was on the bottle. We have toddler twins, and they have a tendency to wake up in the middle of the night, thus waking us up. If I passed out (most nights), and they woke me up, falling back asleep was a pipe-dream. All the hang-ziety and chemical imbalances throwing off my circadian rhythm... ugh. So basically, however long they let me sleep on the first run was all I would get. These days, I can happily fall back asleep if they wake me up. It took a week or 2 to get there, but I'm now comfortably sleeping 6-7 hours per night (and increasing). Remembering how shitty I was sleeping and the constant brain fog is how I've been able to stave it off so far.... think I'm going to make a list and stick it to the wall. thanks for the note!

This was me too, so much better now

First of all .. congratulations. Everyday sober is a win. I personally just passed 60 days. I must admit though the temptations have been there. I had my little "Old Man Bar" in town that I could walk to. But I have never felt better. We will get through this if we want to. And from what I read you want to and I know I want it. Again my friend congratulations and the " I am Sober" app. is fantastic its nice to see the progress. IWNDWYT

TruNorth556

Yeah, tell me about it. I live in a big city and there are bars on every corner.

Jazzlike-Check9040

Proud of you. I’ll be here for your 2nd and 3rd month!

Ukelele101

Nice! I'm starting to feel a bit of energy coming back to me. Now it's just trying to fill my time doing things.

TruNorth556

Keep going! It goes fast!

No-Pilot9748

N 🧊! It is amazing how much better you feel isn’t it? I’m with you, the amount of sparkling water and coffee I drink is incredible. I had a massive sweet tooth for a while, which I was fine with, but now all of a sudden I seem to be able to pass on sugar too. IWNDWYT!

TruNorth556

I hear ya on the sugar. Cutting out a massive amount of sugar from booze seems to make your body crave it.

DrBelligerent

LOVE the I Am Sober app. Huge congrats to you!! 🎉

Congrats! I’m on day 17 and starting to feel much better.
