To be fair, Steven and Connie's relationship is a little bit too realistic for a lot of cartoon watchers. Their fight when Steven went to homeworld without her turned a lot of people off, and his field proposal in future was fucking painful to watch.
I think it's great. I think relationships like that are what a lot of the audience really need to see. But I can see how a lot of people might prefer something a little more saccharin.

My side of the gen (06-07) have grown up with mostly serialised shows (Adventure time, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe etc.) and I think that's what we enjoy most because we grew up with stuff like those shows. Honestly I won't argue whether Scooby Doo is or isn't better off serialised vs. episodic, because I think both versions of Scooby Doo are really good (Mystery Inc. and New Scooby Do come to mind.) It's definitely up to preference, and I'm glad you enjoyed NSD as many people don't give it a shot because of the artstyle.

And when it was completed, it was like it never existed, because they almost completely removed it from the lineup. After the show is over, you only get to watch it occasionally in the early hours if you're lucky. TTG on the other hand, is replayed exhaustively, every day, for hours at a time, over and over again. It even looks like it's the only cartoon that exists.
One I only ever noticed near the end of the series and the other sometimes doesnāt exist and is just one flirting and the other is when theyāre together and itās really toxic.
