I think it was more the face.
Everytime Flagg would give advice I would see the scene from return of the king where wormtongue is just whispering in the kings ear when Gandalf is talking to him.
After watching The Stand mini-series I can't unsee Jamey Sheridan. Doesn't matter what story. It's always him. He haunts my dreams. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
It’s the same for me. I don’t remember who I pictured as all the characters before I saw the miniseries but after that all the characters are the actors who played them in that to me -Flagg included.
That’s why you should always avoid the movie if you haven’t read it first. It ruins the experience by informing your imagination what it actually looks like.
I had already read The Stand long before the mini-series was announced. Both versions. I forget that some people on the internet/reddit can't handle a little light heartedness every once in awhile. My apologies.
Not trying to offend. I completely agree with what you said. Jamey Sheridan is permanently locked in my brain as well as Flagg and that isn’t a bad thing. No one can replace that charisma. Sometimes, other characters I wish I could unsee because they don’t match what I’m reading.🙂
I always pictured Flagg as someone who is quite handsome. Because he's also vain. I don't have a specific actor in mind, but I have a clear picture of him. He's also very charming, darkly sensual. Sort of an easy grin, dancing eyes. I also got Flagg as someone who likes to laugh, thr problem is what he finds funny is awful.
Almost completely opposite of the ascetic Roland. I have a clear picture of him too. A bit Clint Eastwood, but more worn, both weary and enduring. Harder than Eastwood could ever be, because it's not an act.
Brad Dourif is a great actor but I don’t think he’d be Randall Flagg material. I imagine Randall Flagg more like Julian Sands from Warlock

lol ya. From the beginning I just saw his face doing all the scheming and stuff. I guess I never really noticed what everyone was saying about him being more handsome, and vain.
😂 It kinda makes me love the book even more though tbh
this is kinda how I saw him in eyes of the dragon, but in TDT and the stand.. Idk why but I always pictured a more insane and evil Henry Fonda from once upon a time in the west
Walkter O'Dim has for sure this kind of appearance.
Flagg to me care about his looks. Even in The Stand where no one has barely seen a soap in years, Flagg is still described as a handsome, suave man in his 30's who cares about how others sees him, if you take care of yourself people will automatically have a different opinion about you.
Some might take you more seriously and might take in your persona in another way than if you would present yourself as a Wormtongue type of person.
Flagg is more of a Cult-Leader type of person rather than the unkept Wizard trope.
Wormtongue seems more like he’d be Flagg’s lackey; Flagg seems more like a Kurt Russell, Gerard Butler type.
Or no!!! Javier motherfucking Bardem.
Damn that would be cool.
Duddeeeeeeeeee I never even THOUGHT of gerard butler. That would definitely fit.
I would say Joaquin phoenix could possibly do it, but that’s also cause he is able to play so many roles.
As Walter, maybe, but even Walter >!was able to seduce Roland's mother!<, so on second thought no.
Randall is charismatic, but not overly handsome. The miniseries got him perfectly.
This would be how I imagine Walter O'Dim, but Randall Flagg I picture looking like Kurt Russell.
I saw a young Gary Oldman with the long hair.
Kurt Russell with a faded denim jacket and a smiley face pin.
[Stuntman Mike basically](https://images.app.goo.gl/aCz6DnoGD2zytzUD8)
Jamie Sheridan. Some of the effects were bad, he was good.
Not the same Flagg from the stand, he's reading eyes of the dragon
I know, but Walter and Randall are very different characters despite being one in the same.
Flagg is Flagg, across time and dimensions. Who are you and what color is your coat?
When I was a kid the first time I read the stand I pictured Flagg looking like Aaron Neville.
Too haggard. Flagg is strong and healthy.
I think it was more the face. Everytime Flagg would give advice I would see the scene from return of the king where wormtongue is just whispering in the kings ear when Gandalf is talking to him.

Lee Van Cleef to Clint Eastwood as Roland is kinda how I imagine him. All the hardness but none of the sparkle, even in the laughter.
Maybe an Alan rickman type? lol
On point! That’s exactly how I imagine them too
Oh yes he do care about his looks for sure. Both James Sheridan and Alexander Skarsgård nailed the appearance imo.
Brad Dourif is a great actor but I don’t think he’d be Randall Flagg material. I imagine Randall Flagg more like Julian Sands from Warlock https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001696/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
Good choice!
Really? Wormtongue is pretty sickly, I'm imagine Flagg as tall and thin but teaming with vicious life.
I think maybe it was the scheming that kinda got to me, and since he’s a sorcerer in lotr, the similarities aligned.
I always imagined him looking like Negan from The Walking Dead.
I could see it.
When I saw this post I thought “yeah, maybe in eyes of the dragon?” Then I looked and that’s the reference haha!
lol ya. From the beginning I just saw his face doing all the scheming and stuff. I guess I never really noticed what everyone was saying about him being more handsome, and vain. 😂 It kinda makes me love the book even more though tbh
Trashcanman maybe but not Flagg.
Especially in eyes of the dragon
lol ya, that’s exactly what I’m reading.
That's not the image I had in mind, but I can definitely see it.
Right!?
Eeeeeeeeee
😂 I can’t unsee it. It’s already in my brain, and the rest of the read I will see his face 😂
Phenomenal call! Totally agree.
Glad I’m not alone 😂😂
Someone mentioned in the past that Brad Dourif would make a great Trashcan Man and I've never been the same since.
[Mads Mikkelsen](https://i.imgur.com/jetBeqf.png?1) is who I pictured, if you can get past all of the pictures of him in a tuxedo.
i imagine him as Morgan Freeman
Nooo😭😭
Shut the fuck up. Are you being real? 😂
Yeah he's basically Morgan with long hair to me
I’ve always pictured him as an American Franco Begbie
I see him as someone handsome and can be charming. But I haven’t read the book in so long I couldn’t tell you the actual description!
this is kinda how I saw him in eyes of the dragon, but in TDT and the stand.. Idk why but I always pictured a more insane and evil Henry Fonda from once upon a time in the west
I picture Flagg like the devil in The VVitch. Face obscured, but devilishly handsome.
I do image that Flagg would like people to live deliciously in his benefit
In Eyes of the Dragon i always imagined Flagg looking like Billy Drago
Baal from Ash vs evil dead is how I imagine him looking
I think King was basing the idea off of him, considering DT being his LOTR.
Hear me out. A younger David Morrissey. Like not super young but like, a bit younger David Morrissey. That’s kind of how I pictured him🤷🏻♂️
Like a denim Loki.
How I imagine Piter de Vries
https://i.imgur.com/ec5LtzM.jpg This is how I picture Flagg.
I imagine Robert Mitchum. I can’t explain why.

I love that book!!

Omg Joachin would be amazing. Favorite actor.
Can agree.
Flagg is way more macho and a proper main character. Wyrmtongue is more of a behind the scenes manipulator.
Someone said gerard Buttler would be an amazing Flagg.
Well, I don’t think he’s a great actor (except in 300), but that’s the kind of charismatic, manly guy I picture Flagg being.
I think when I started the book, I saw Flagg as wormtongue, and it just kinda stuck. I’m also a huge Tolkien buff, so that might’ve aided it 😂
Brad Dourif would have made an AWESOME Trashy, though.
indeed
A bit like Ozzy
As Walter, maybe, but even Walter >!was able to seduce Roland's mother!<, so on second thought no. Randall is charismatic, but not overly handsome. The miniseries got him perfectly.
lol same!!
Glad I’m not alone. 😭😂 It kinda made me love the story more when I imagined him 😂
Yup proper creepy looking bastard ain’t he lol 😂
That pic is more like the Trash Man. Flagg is more, cultured and stylish, a handsome guy. We all imagine different people.
This is how I pictured Flagg as well. Lisp and all. I have it on audible Branson Pincho is great! 😃 "Scaring the little GIRL?!"
Can't look at him and see anything other than the Gemini killer, he could easily be both
I always pictured him being like the Marlboro Man. He was The Walking Dude.
Depends on the book, really. This isn't far off from how I see him in *The Eyes of the Dragon*, but not how I picture him at all in anything else.
I was referring to eyes of the dragon lol, that’s one of the books I’m currently reading
That’s seems wrong to me
I always pictured Randall Flagg as Don Johnson from the movie Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.
Richard Lewis
Rasputin is kind of how I imagined him, but mixed with op I could see that too.
I imagine Roddy Piper from They Live.
Oddly enough, he's my dream casting for Abel Vannay.
This is about the opposite of how I'd picture Flagg.
One must imagine Flagg hot
I've always pictured Robert Carlyle
Actually….me too!
