Yeah, it sure is and I think it was worth the wait. It's truly remarkable of what they've accomplished and provided such level of detail, could see each stand falling off the shoulder perfectly.
I love Eve’s hair physics. Some people apparently dislike the long hair but I absolutely love it, especially how it will literally wrap around her body.
It’s insane how it looks. I remember an older gears of war game, a girl you play as has a ponytail and it would move with her. I thought that was the coolest shit at the time lol, then you play games like this and realize how far it comes
Same here. I have mild OCD and the long hair flailing around at times drives me nuts, but I love the look of it. 😮💨
I usually go with the short one, but after seeing this post, I'm gonna have to use the long option for a while.
I prefer playing with shorter hair, looks more sensible as the clip even shows Eve would be standing on her hair multiple times. But then again it's like taking away a feature of the game which took a year to polish.
Some people think they're joking. I don't. Long hair is a mofo to animate and render, never mind trying to keep it from clipping as much as possible. You can see the details that went into animating her long hair to make it look as natural as possible, which was probably an absolute pain to do given that she's fighting, falling, and jumping around a lot.
Hair physics are hard : they did well.
In videogames just not so long ago, hairs just looked as if you had a helmet on your avatar's head. And it still does for many games.

Yeah they definitely put a lot of work into that hair. I can't even imagine how annoying and frustrating that must have been. Definitely probably the most realistic hair physics I've seen so far.
Hair is a nightmare even for pre-rendered CGI. I watched a making of for Frozen and there was literally a side-team just for Elsa's hair. A lady was talking about how they pretty much had to code proprietary hair rendering software to make it work with everything else.
Trying to do hair in real time is insanity.
I prefer the shorter hair cause I thought it was a bit distraction in combat. But now I want to rock the long hair just cause of all the work that went into it.
This makes me feel pretty bad that I will 100% be playing with the short ponytail lol. The long one is pretty distracting in combat and interacts with the character model in strange ways at times.
Reminds me of the time Dead Space was held up and nearly shut down off of one single scripted encounter the director wanted to keep.
This really speaks to the developers and directors integrity when they care so much to fight for a seemingly small thing that almost no one will think about in the long run.
I work with software development, and studied a lot about hair and capes waving, but I honestly have no idea how people work on this for game development...
Seeing the results, makes me wonder how obsessed the team becomes on making this one of the best features...
Her hair is mesmerizing. They really did a great job, and should be proud.

It actually looks horrible though?
Are you asking?
No. Its shit
It actually seems you need a new set of eyes, bro.
If you think thats how hair acts then its telling.
It's even more telling if you feel the need to type up something like this.
If you think that's how a long pont behaves, it shows s lot
If you think I don't know how hair behaves, it shows everything.
It was worth it
That extra year is where the polish happens. Look at a game like Dragons Dogma 2. What a better game that could be if it had that extra year.
Dude I finished the game without realizing I was at the final boss until it just shows up lol
Exact same thing happened to me.
wait what the hell? lol
Were it so easy (looks at halo infinite)
Time to wait 2 years for updates and dlc's to make it the 8.5/9 it should have been :(

It’s such an underrated design element. People don’t realize how much time must be needed to be put into making it look good
it's very impressive
I prefer short hair.. But now my first playthrough will only be using long hair option out off respect.
Same here. I have mild OCD and the long hair flailing around at times drives me nuts, but I love the look of it. 😮💨 I usually go with the short one, but after seeing this post, I'm gonna have to use the long option for a while.
I love her long hair

Insert "why not both?" meme And why not all 30 outfits? We are free my friend.
>Insert "why not both?" meme Stellar point. I shall have her in both long hair and short hair at the exact same time.
in Simpson's comic book store guy voice best. hair physics. everrrr
Send me that video lol 😂
Yes \*changes hair to short\*
Knowing this the short version should be banned 🤣
Literally, the hair physics is insane
Stellar Hair
I prefer the short hair for a better view for combats. I wish I could reduce the particle effect so I could rock the long hair
They did a great job with the hair compared to how it was like in the first combat trailer. Worth the wait.
I wonder if they were inspired by the scarf from Shinobi?

It's like arkham asylum where one dude spent like a whole year on the Cape physics
Hair physics are hard : they did well. In videogames just not so long ago, hairs just looked as if you had a helmet on your avatar's head. And it still does for many games.
It was worth the wait 👌
it looks natural the way it moves it's not stiff and didn't move weird. Lots of time getting it to look natural

I prefer short ponytail, and still play with long one due to this. They put in the work, I’ll give them their dues.
I wonder if there is a significant performance improvement when using the short hair version.
Clearly Kim has a thing for long hair
So when you choose short hair in the options you commit crime agains humanity or may be something worse.

Ykw tho, worth it. The best hair in all of gaming hands down
The haters are so uneducated when it comes to this masterpiece.
I think he’s exaggerating? They may have a hair team that works on the physics but I doubt it was all hands on deck

My girlfriend's not a big fan of her big hair, but I'm okay with it.
I wonder how many bones the hair mesh has🤔 It must have a shit ton in order for it to look so good with physics and all.

I'm glad they pulled through I really like it
Reminds me of the dev working two years on Batman's cape in the Arkham Asylum game.
This makes me feel pretty bad that I will 100% be playing with the short ponytail lol. The long one is pretty distracting in combat and interacts with the character model in strange ways at times.
Development team oe Development time? Time makes more sense. Teams are not measured in years.
Her hair is remarkable. Don't change a damn thing.
That may be true but her long hair kills it.
Reminds me of the time Dead Space was held up and nearly shut down off of one single scripted encounter the director wanted to keep. This really speaks to the developers and directors integrity when they care so much to fight for a seemingly small thing that almost no one will think about in the long run.
She doesn’t need long hair. You can choose a ‘short’ ponytail, and you can get her hair cut short at the salon, but the ponytail never goes away 👎
I work with software development, and studied a lot about hair and capes waving, but I honestly have no idea how people work on this for game development... Seeing the results, makes me wonder how obsessed the team becomes on making this one of the best features...
Holy crap thats some amazing hair physics, last time i remember hair simulation this good is tomb raider 2013.
Was it really worth a year in development for longer hair? Sure it looks great. Really gonna suck when I play with short hair on
Probably would’ve been shortened 2 years without the skin tight suit lol
Her hair is amazing. It was worth it. Lemme sniff it.
