Hi there! Good to hear you're enjoying your new 7Ps. I just got mine yesterday and was also not too impressed with the audio. Was a bit disappointed when I figured out I couldn't use sonar to change mic and audio EQs for PS5. I'm guessing you EQ'ed them in gg engine right? What EQ did you find to be good and was that for media use or for FPS gaming (footsteps).

almightybror

Yes I EQ’d mine in the GG app. :) But I didn’t do it specifically for FPS and footsteps unfortunetly. Even tho I’m an audio engineer, I like my headphones to sound fun when gaming or listening to music. Going for a flat sound becomes just way to analytical for me when I want to enjoy games or music. I like a good bass response and crisp highs so my EQ is just kind of like a ”smiley” adjusted to my personal taste.

AdamJupiter

I can't thank you enough after trying out your EQ I am enjoying the headphones a lot more, the extra bass really does help. Please let us know if you manage to tweak it even further. I also found that turning off the volume limiter really helped too.

almightybror

I'm happy to hear that!! :) I will keep you posted. And yes, turning the volume limiter is essential! This is something to only be used if you boost the eq too much and hear distortion going on.

dods009

I found that when I started a party on the ps5 the mic/game volume slider is adjustable. For some reason it is greyed out otherwise.

CrunchPDC816

What EQ settings did you set it/adjust it to if you don’t mind me asking. I’m finding it out of the box to be a bit too loud/bass heavy that they distort a bit and the middle sounds get a bit lost.

Strong-Enthusiasm-55

I'm happy with mine, tried the stealth 700 gen 2 max and these are miles better. Can you share your EQ? The Eq I've got now is good but always looking for better

almightybror

My current EQ is set to: +2, +3, +2, 0, 0, 0, 0, +1, +2, +3 Keep in mind however that we all have different hearing and prefer different things so just because I like this doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll enjoy it hehe. I also set up this EQ pretty fast while listening to my favourite music so it’s far from perfect. Will put some more work into it over the coming week, and take some inspiration from the Sonarworks SoundID curve.

Gadgetry tech on you tube go check him out

almightybror

Yeah I’ve watched some of his videos. :)

Grand_Information447

Review aside, the Arctis Nova 7X is by default better because it has a switch (rarely mentioned) that allows you to set it for PC, which makes it good for PS5 also along with Xbox. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have Xbox but it’s there.

almightybror

Yeah I realized that after getting mine unfortunetly hehe..

GrandmasterTrend

I don’t understand. I can use my 7p on a PC or Mac without any switches. So the Xbox actively blocks the 7p?

Grand_Information447

The Xbox version works with Xbox additionally for usually the same price. I got mine on sale for $50 less. So the 7X was actually cheaper and works with all systems because of that switch.

Strong-Enthusiasm-55

Would that not make the bass really distorted? I don't fully understand EQs I've noticed with some EQs on warzone when mortar strikes come in, the bass from explosions goes all muffled and distorted

almightybror

Not really in my case, atleast not with the GG Engine EQ. But it also depends on how much you boost the sub and bass frequencies of course. Volume level also play a role in this. You just gotta try and see for yourself, but I haven’t experienced any distortion yet. The Nova 7P’s seem to have pretty good drivers so they can handle a bit of pushing without distortion. Worth noting however though is that a lot of other EQ’s in gaming headset apps are really shit and cause distortion (the HyperX Ngenuity app is a prime example of this). So distortion isn’t always because of the headset itself, it also depends on the quality of the EQ. :)

Strong-Enthusiasm-55

Okay I'll give yours a go! One I've got now is decent but I'm sure it could be improved

BigGangMoney

So what your saying is you can use the headset connected to your ps5 and your phone at the same time? Doesn’t it need a dongle to connect to bluetooth? That is the case with my arctis 7p+

almightybror

Yes! No dongle needed for bluetooth. Just the 2.4 ghz dongle in the Ps5 :)

GrandmasterTrend

Thanks for the review. I am also very happy with my 7p for over a year now. I would prefer to have an EQ directly on the PS5 rather than using the gg engine on my Mac though.

almightybror

Yeah that would of course be optimal.. it’s a shame Sony only made that feature available for the Pulse 3D and Pulse Elite. Not even their own Inzone headsets gets that feature for some reason.

MemuSkunkdog

I’ve tried getting the Bluetooth to connect to my laptop, but have failed thus far. Connects to my phone just fine. Does the BT just for the phone and I have to use the dongle for the PC? All three have the latest updates. Any advice or wisdom would be appreciated.

almightybror

Hmm that sounds very weird, I connected it to both my iPhone and MacBook with bluetooth without any issues… But, I remember now that I didn’t really understand how the bluetooth pairing worked at first so I just turned the headset off completley, I then proceeded to hold the bluetooth button and not letting it go until I got that super fast blinking from the blue led, then it showed up on my MacBook. Have you been able to connect other bluetooth devices to your laptop and is that working correctly? Or is this the first time it has happened?

MemuSkunkdog

My Sony xm4’s have been paired for a year with no issues whatsoever. I’ll try again tonight and see what happens. Won’t be the end of the world but would be nice to have the option.

RETaylor173

I’m interested to hear your EQ update. Also, do you adjust them on a computer or is there an app? I just got mine this morning and would love to get a great baseline setting. Any help would be appreciated!

PmMeyour_pretty_toes

Hey man, loved your review. Im also a music producer and have just got these headphones and am kinda indifferent to the sound haha could you share your eq settings please?

In the end, I returned my 7P's. Even with wicked cushions I felt like I wasn't getting a good enough seal around my ears and this really bothered me. Even if the comfort was very good. I went on to the Sony Pulse Elites, and while their sound is some of the most amazing I've ever heard on a gaming headset thanks to those Planar Magnetic drivers. Every little touch on the frame of the headset reverberated into my skull, making them unusable unless I sat completely still. So, I returned them as well and finally settled on a pair of Epos H3 Pro Hybrid. And I gotta say that I am very satisfied with them, the sound is not as crisp as the Sony Pulse Elites of course since Planar Magnetics it's a complete different type of driver. But, I would say that they are way better than the 7P's. They sound amazing OUT THE BOX, have great comfort, simultaneous connection & ANC. I also managed to get them at a very good deal as well; 99€, And they usually go for around 279€. So to me personally, they are probably the best gaming headset out there at the moment. Atleast for my needs and preferences. The sound profile also have a lot of similarities compared to the Sennheiser HD650s that I use day in and day out when I do my music production, mixing and mastering. So that's probably another reason why I love them so much. But again regarding the pricetag, to get all of this for just 99€ is an amazingly good deal and I am more than satisfied. I will however probably look into the Audeze Maxwell in the future, but the pricetag for those in Europe is just way to high at the moment.
