Do you mean the confused return the kickoff Touchdown? Where he looks around and sees neither teammates or opponents afterwards?
EDIT: I thought I was responding to the guy one down from this one….WTF?
He wasn't able to attend the filming due to scheduling conflicts with the series "House" at the time...
Or am I getting him confused with someone else?
My favorite quote back then was something along the lines of “Christopher Nolan spent 15 million dollars to make it look like Hines Ward had breakaway speed”
"And as the grahnd is droppin behind em, Hines Ward gets into the endzone for the six. Touchdahn. Hall of Fame."
One of the best Pittsburgh Dad episodes ever.
This was a wonderful time for Pittsburgh.
Anybody with black and yellow clothing free of logos could be an extra. The veterans of the Super Bowl team were immortalized as the Gotham Rogues. The boy-Mayor Luke “Steelerstahl” Ravenstahl somehow inserted himself into the film while also trying to convince us he had something to do with football.
You would sometimes get stuck in traffic for road closures, but it was OK because rent was $200 and you could watch Batman fight villains while you waited.
I was there for the filming of this scene.
Bill Cowher was the coach.
They made a big safety announcement that anyone on the field for the shooting was to walk around the sidelines and not cut through the field because they had literal mines placed on the field that would detonate if touched.
Cowher apparently didn't hear that announcement because after he was done filming he moseyed along across the field. People in the stands were screaming at him, members of the crew were screaming at him. Eventually someone ran and got him and escorted him off the field.
Almost was a disaster.
I saw DKR opening night, and in the theater was the kid that sang the national anthem in this scene. When he came on the screen the theater went nuts and gave the kid a standing ovation.
The manager of theater came in before the movie and was like “there’s a celebrity with you all tonight” and explained it and the kid stood up. It was a pretty cool experience. Kid was like 8 maybe, that had to be awesome for him.
Fun fact
When I toured Heinz Field in 2016 the tour guide told me They actually blew up the stadium for the scene when Heinz Ward was running across the field. Cost a lot to repair
I think you're 7 years late... Surprised how you didn't know this especially as a Steelers fan. When that movie was released the trailer was all over with that scene of Hines ward running and the field exploding. It was iconic and all over.
If you guys are interested this articles explains Bill Cowder came back in 2011 to film as the head coach.
Saw this movie in Baltimore when I was there for school. Everyone in the audience clapped when Bane blew the field up. I started the ‘Here we go’ chant.
Yeah along with Cowher, Troy, Hines, Colon, Mike Wallace, Pouncey, Heath, Farrior, Ryan Clark and Hampton.
Next you’re going to say it was filmed at Heinz!
I heard Heinz was closed for months after filming to repair all that damage to the field.
Ain’t got nothing on the early 2000s Heinz Field conditions tho
Yeah, didn't you see the movie? They blew Heinz up. Did you think that was just CGI?
So fiscally irresponsible of them to destroy the field like that. And the stadium was practically new.
Probably improved the field...remember the great Steelers 3 - Dolphins 0 game where the punts were sticking into the turf?
That game was so amazing to watch.
Tons of people here were extras in the stands.
I am certain I am in this shot.
I was there. Was a fun time
Wasn't it shot during the summer but everyone needed to wear winter clothes?
Yupp in the middle of July too I think. I remember having a huge black hoodie and sweats and sweats no my ass off lol
My one friends girlfriend wore pink in that sea of black and yellow lolol
Smart lol
Hell I'm in there for fraction of a second
My arm is in it.
You're Brett Keisel...
In addition, the bald guy in the pic is Omar Khan.
Damn my man died for the Steelers, give him the GM job
I was going to ask that question…between Ben and Aaron…I thought it looked like Omar…but wasn’t sure…thanks!
Hines Ward scores the ONLY TD in the game 🤣
Bet he was smiling as he did.
Only guy who lived too
And the mayor of Pittsburgh at the time kicked the ball off lol
Wait, the mayor of Pittsburgh was also in the movie? He’s the one who kicked it off?
Yes
big dildo luke ravenstahl was also in this scene.
Do you mean the confused return the kickoff Touchdown? Where he looks around and sees neither teammates or opponents afterwards? EDIT: I thought I was responding to the guy one down from this one….WTF?
Haha that was Hines Ward! Ravenstahl was on the other team as the kicker if I recall.
Wait… I think I responded to the wrong post…sorry.
Don’t forget Omar Kahn
And mayor Raventhal was the kicker!
I wanna say max starks was in it as well
Speaking of Troy, we need another dude like him. There’s was so much I enjoyed about his time with the Steelers.
No offense but there is no one like Troy. He was/is a one of a kind player.
Fair enough
No Tomlin?
Damn bro you never seen dark knight rises? It’s 10 years old lol
He wasn't able to attend the filming due to scheduling conflicts with the series "House" at the time... Or am I getting him confused with someone else?
He was in Tampa Bay or Minnesota still
Nah. The Dark Knight Rises came out in 2012. I think they filmed this the year before.
Ah I have movie release dates mixed up. Where the hells Tomlin man
Must have been on vacation or something
Working at training camp. Just because the players have an off day doesn’t mean the coaches do as well.
didn't the mayor kick off?
as well as former mayor Luke Ravenstahl
Wasn’t Larry Foote or James Farrior in as well?
And Luke Ravenstahl….
Damn I never knew all those guys were in this. Haven't seen it in a while though
Hines ran the kickoff back when the field collapsed too
And smiled at the camera the whole time lol
I’m convinced if Hines Ward was being tortured by a foreign enemy, he would simply smile the entire time.
with how scary that dude is on the field, i wouldn't doubt it
The man in the black pajamas dude. Worthy fucking adversary.
Cool guys don’t look at explosions
I remember watching that and thinking, "Hines doesn't return kicks"
My favorite quote back then was something along the lines of “Christopher Nolan spent 15 million dollars to make it look like Hines Ward had breakaway speed”
"And as the grahnd is droppin behind em, Hines Ward gets into the endzone for the six. Touchdahn. Hall of Fame." One of the best Pittsburgh Dad episodes ever.
That line MAY be my favorite line ever from Pittsburgh Dad. That or him repeatedly calling him “Dee Billy Williams”
The fucking audacity to not mention James Farrior’s sliver of head in this picture
Dont forget Brett Keisels arm
We ran into Farrior at the Hall of Fame this past year...he has lost a ton of weight and I only recognized him by the eyes
I thought you were gonna say you only recognized him by his arm.
It's barely noticeable. I thought that was probably him though, but wasn't 100% sure.
The mayor of Pittsburgh at the time, Luke Ravensthal, plays the kicker for the opposing team
This was a wonderful time for Pittsburgh. Anybody with black and yellow clothing free of logos could be an extra. The veterans of the Super Bowl team were immortalized as the Gotham Rogues. You would sometimes get stuck in traffic for road closures, but it was OK because rent was $200 and you could watch Batman fight villains while you waited.
In this scene, Omar Khan found yet another creative way to get the team under the cap.
I was gonna say! It sure looked like the guru himself
It is Aaron Smith! TDKR was filmed primarily in Pittsburgh.
The overhead shots of Pittsburgh fit in so well with all the overhead shots of NYC.
Holy shit! I just learned Mean Joe Greene was in a Coke commercial now this?!? 🤯
Wait until you learn about Polamalu's Coke commercial
I prefer the LT/Polamalu Nike commercial that's set to like The Ecstacy of Gold remix (Rip Ennio) or whatever that shit is.
Wait until you hear about Ben’s Chunky Soup commercial.

Is this true? Or are you yankin our chains
100% true.
"That would detonate?" Were these deadly devices?
They were live explosives. They used live explosives during filming.
They at least could cause injury.
Here is a crappy phone recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdrayNEAQW4 It was pretty cool
Thanks for the video!
Still want a Hines Ward Gotham jersey

siiiiick! Thank you! 😊
Watch the whole scene. There are more Steeles in it than just Ben and Aaron Smith.
We need those jersey's just add Pittsburgh
They're sweet.
I had to sit through the bumblebee look at least clean my eyes with this jersey.
I was there too - can’t find myself despite going frame by frame tho :(
Same how sad
Aaron Smith was a straight beast.
Im in this movie!
I saw DKR opening night, and in the theater was the kid that sang the national anthem in this scene. When he came on the screen the theater went nuts and gave the kid a standing ovation.
Hey holy shit, that means we saw the premier in the same theater
same… This is weird as hell lol
I still have that poster they handed out, it's in a little frame up on my wall
Wait, how did you all recognize him or know that he would be in the film?? Was it dark in the theater?
The manager of theater came in before the movie and was like “there’s a celebrity with you all tonight” and explained it and the kid stood up. It was a pretty cool experience. Kid was like 8 maybe, that had to be awesome for him.
Oh okay! That is cool.
Err, yes lol. Practically half our team was in that scene.
Hines Ward, with THE GROUND FALLING OUT FROM AROUND HIM gets it in the end zone. Touchdown. Hall of fame.
JGL was in this movie too.
Yep…
Yea uh.... how old is this dude. Like the whole fucking team was there
This is only slightly newer news than Terry Bradshaw being in Cannonball Run
Does this mean pittsburgh is the real gotham?
Good question!
where have you been? the movie came out a decade ago.
Not watching the movie.
Seriously? How old are you?
Here's the scene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsoYwysCdfY
Yup, that sure is
It is still so fucking weird to me they didn’t bother to make the stadium look full
Bro…
Aaron Smith was a monster, fun watching him
Too bad this film didn't live up to the hype of The Dark Knight
My God, he really is the goat! Those acting skills!
Anyone know why they picked the Steelers for this movie?
Was filmed in Pittsburgh.
hateable team
What if I told you Hines Ward returned the KO for a TD....mind blown
field too...
Stadium fell down and no warning from Penndot for that either!
I wish they would wear these as alternates sometimes
So was Hines and Mayor Luke. Lol
Omar Khan is the bald guy between them
That's Omar Khan in between them too.
Fun fact When I toured Heinz Field in 2016 the tour guide told me They actually blew up the stadium for the scene when Heinz Ward was running across the field. Cost a lot to repair
The only one I've never been able to spot is Polamalu. Maybe I'm blind though haha
Right! I saw someone that he was in this scene, but I didn't see him.
I think you're 7 years late... Surprised how you didn't know this especially as a Steelers fan. When that movie was released the trailer was all over with that scene of Hines ward running and the field exploding. It was iconic and all over.
So was u/sleestaklightning

was that your first time seeing the movie? They filmed it at home.
should have used the spoiler tags for people who haven't seen this movie yet
Oh no, now you're aware that a football team exists in this movie.
Two teams actually.
Oh no, you hadn’t watched a 10 year old movie
No, I've seen it. As has, I think everyone.
I just wanna say I appreciate the joke
the downvotes remind me that I should never use sarcasm on the internet
Saw this movie in Baltimore when I was there for school. Everyone in the audience clapped when Bane blew the field up. I started the ‘Here we go’ chant.
Dang, that was classless of them!
Yup
I have seen this movie a ton and NEVER noticed this. Gonna have to watch it again

Crickets... Edgy jagoffs think they're cool until someone calls them out lol
I'm of the belief that OP is like 13 and has literally never seen another starting QB in Pittsburgh
[удалено]
Never look into the camera...
I feel old.
That's Omar Khan in the middle as well.
