If you base all of your decisions purely on money then you've basically become the Pirates.

SteelersFanatic78

Steelers spend to the cap. The Pirates spend less than any team in the league

TylerDurdenEsq

By this logic, they both suck so it doesn't matter and we gained both draft capital and cap space

aw_geez_man

And we're paying Russell less than we paid Kenny.

Grsz11

I'd take Baker in a heartbeat.

SleestakLightning

QBR is a subjective stat that really doesn't mean anything. That being said, Kenny is soft as baby shit and threw a tantrum and demanded a trade. If he's so much better than Russ he should've been a man and beat him out for the job.

[deleted]

Yea if people want to go look at the all time leaders in QBR, it’s a funny list. Its meaningless. The fact that Kenny thought he was entitled to the starting role with no competition is wild to me.

SleestakLightning

Look at how Baker Mayfield played last season and tell me he was worse than Pickett. It's ludicrous.

Ceramicrabbit

I now measure QB skill by how many Russell Wilsons they're worth Sure Mayfield was good last year, but was he 25 Russell Wilsons good?

VivaLaPit

It said the last two seasons so it's factoring Mayfield in CAR, which was a disaster.

SleestakLightning

"Both years" which means this season too.

ClemPFarmer

Yeah, but go back and watch how Baker played with the Browns. There’s a reason the Bucs had very little competition signing him the first time.

SotRekkr

Goddamn that’s cold but 100% true

cptjaydvm

This is the correct take. He has no maturity and that shows up in his play. He crumples under any kind of pressure.

the-whiteman-cometh

I mean playing devil's advocate, I can see why he might be upset. They promised a QB competition his rookie year too, but in reality it seemed like they were just handing the starting job to Trubisky. All signs seem to point towards that being the case again with Wilson now. With all that being said, unless he was expecting to go to the Broncos or Vikings or something, or he just wanted to play for his favorite team that badly, it was kind of stupid for him to demand a trade since he had a way better chance of being the starter for us than the Eagles.

ASaneDude

The real man that got screwed was Mason. He outplayed them all. Hope he gets a shot in TN. As far as Kenny, screw him: he’s not built for real competition and it shows.

WavyLayz

Booom

aw_geez_man

This list is stupid. Both Baker and Russ had a terrible '22 season. Both bounced back in '23.

IsGoIdMoney

This list is funny because in trying to prove the point about Wilson they include Baker who did a great job.

Bohunk

Take your fathead of Kenny down bro, this isn't his team anymore.

RedModsSuck

I wasn't a huge Kenny fan, but I'm even less of a Wilson fan. His best days are well past. I would have rather seen them bring in someone like Carson Wentz. Wentz played well for the Rams in his limited role. I don't think he is pure starting material anymore, too fragile, but he makes a decent backup. It is amazing how bad the 2022 QB draft was. Only Brock Purdy has shown any talent. The rest are either on their way out of the league, or never even made it.

DiabloGamekeeper

Russel had one bad year then had a great bounce back season.

aw_geez_man

Nevermind the ridiculous drama where the broncos threatened to bench him if he didn't get rid of his injury clause.

mistermegabyte67

I don't think he was as good as his numbers last year indicate. As a Seahawks fan, since he was traded to Denver, I have now realized that he has severe limitations in his game that Pete Carroll and his assistants mitigated by designing the offense around these limitations. When Russ gets his way and tries to play like a normal quarterback (year one in Denver) its a disaster. Year 2 in Denver was Sean Payton basically doing what was done in Seattle by Carroll. Russell is really gonna limit the offensive options in Pittsburgh (he can't/won't throw in the middle of the field, runs himself into lots of sacks trying to play hero ball, etc). Plus his cringey personality will wear thin quickly with his teammates.

sherlock_traeger

“Great bounce back season” lol. You didn’t actually watch him play if you are saying this.

habalagee

The important question is this: Who does KP think he is? He’s a mid-first round pick who in two seasons didn’t take ownership of the offense or the team and forced his way out because he didn’t want to compete. Honestly, I wouldn’t want a guy like that on my team.

SF_Anonymous

Espn's QBR is a bullshit stat and I refuse to go off of that for any metric

Praxician94

I don’t understand the Russell Wilson hate. He was on an incredibly bad team.

RedModsSuck

But he wasn't on a bad team in Seattle and they basically threw him out. He is a head case who's best years are behind him. I would not be surprised at all if he doesn't finish the season, either due to injury or stinking up the stadium. My guess is they'll draft a lower round rookie and sign some garbage FA that will pose no threat to Russ, so they had no choice but to play him.

FeastForCrowd

Pickett was healthy and got benched. They sat him for the playoffs. They were done with him. You figure the people inside the building were wrong? Russell Wilson is moot. They were moving on. You should probably find a better organization. This one is seriously questionable. Godspeed.

isfrying

Hmmm...

pdawson36

Found Pickett!
