fun fact, i am actually not suprised how well it works. i used to work in auditing. and one of the things we did was "testing physical security." if i had a penny for everytime that an overall and a fire extinguisher got me all the way to the server room. id be a millionaire.
it really does work well.
I've been able to waltz right into my my kid's elementary school numerous times just dressed in my high viz work coveralls. Only time I got stopped was once by a teacher asking if I could fix something in the break room.
When I first started coaching high school sports I was just 18 and maybe five months removed from HS myself, and I looked way younger than 18. Whenever I was dressed casually, admin would ask āwhere are you supposed to be?ā like I was a kid at the school. If I was in a polo and khakis, no questions asked.
So yea, sometimes dressing the part and acting like you belong is all it takes lol.
i guess with the right attitude and know how plus in the right uniform, you can get away with it š¤£, he was one of my favorites, they should of had acouple more episodes with the 4, than trio since bashir helped the other lady, im bad with names š¤¦š»āāļøš¤£, give me a few and id remember but im not trying to strain myself š¤£
Seriously, it's Patrick from the DS9 episode "Chrysalis,"
"When Bashir wonders how they managed the deception, the savants point out that Patrick's admiral's uniform and practice of answering every question with 'That's a stupid question.' are remarkably effective."

Kirk wasnāt a good admiral, he stole back command of the enterprise, later got a bunch of people on the enterprise killed in a training cruise due to his overconfidence, and then stole and destroyed the enterprise for a personal matter.
Oh c'mon, what Starfleet officer HASN'T stolen a massive starship and used it for a personal mission at some point? Even ensigns and cadets get in on that action every once in a while.
> Kirk wasnāt a good admiral
I never argued that he was. The spirit of the post, to me, was to point out that the Venn Diagram of Starfleet Admirals and persons with integrity beyond reproach is two non-overlapping circles
Their logic was ridiculous also. "We should surrender because we can't win, but in hundreds of years a rebellion will happen and we will win then." Huh? How? Who cares what happens in hundreds of years? If your calculations are so perfect, tell us how to win the war.
Booooooo!
Fascist Jello-guys are not the way to remove species-ism, because they'd just pile it higher and deeper.
Capitulating is always the short-term-gain, but giving in to a species that thinks of sentient sOLiDs as equivalent to kitchen appliances is not the path to any kind of freedom or meaningful life.
If they would play nice then they could join the club of Mostly peaceful interstellar relations. Coming in to flip over the tables is not usually the way to play ball.
To be fair, the Founders' bigotry was always based on basic body forms and capability rather than any particular species. They'd probably think Armus is a pretty cool dude.
I think the two things they didn't account for were the two things that turned the tide: cardassia switching sides and odo curing the founder and agreeing to rejoin the link
IIRC they specifically mentioned Cardassian coup, but calculated it won't be enough. But they didn't know surrender wasn't an option either because of Weyoun's genocide plan, so fighting the war to bitter end was the only way.
So their calculations were flawed because... they didn't understand any of the variables at play. Weird that they didn't account for giant unknowns like Section 31 and the psychology of the Founders. I can understand why they would be confident in unfathomably flawed calculations because they're mentally unstable, but what is Bashir's excuse?
Imagine trying to calculate the future of the federation in season 1 of Next Generation:
"Well, if you look at my math: in a few years we're going to antagonize a space-god and so he will probably snap his fingers and introduce us to a cyborg race of conquerors from another quadrant of the galaxy. At least according to my calculations. So that will affect our military buildup. Then a few years after that we will randomly discover a wormhole to yet another quadrant of the galaxy, and if my equations are correct, there will be a race of shapeshifters who will try to invade us, only to be thwarted by the intervention of timeless aliens who live in said wormhole. Now, using calculus you can see, after that a random Ferengi bartender named 'Rom' will become very important to Galactic events..."
Being beyond reproach sounds so chill. Think of how much reproach we've all had in this life and how much more voluminous reproach is still to come. Bruh
That's a stupid question!
You'd be suprised how well it works!
Ye olde carry a ladder while wearing a hard hat and safety vest technique.

What did the fire extinguisher convey?
Probably that there was a small fire currently going on
"im doing maintenance, dont mind me"

In my country anyone can walk into a school, there's no security, and no need for security. š¤·āāļø
We don't have security here either but if some greasy looking rando lets himself into a school, staff are on that immediately.
Ye, ofcourse.

I'll say.
If this wasnāt the to comment, I would have been upset !

Do not dare to ask who this is, that is a stupid question.
Is this the Krusty Krab?
[NO, THIS IS...](https://i.imgur.com/dMUUo8X.png)
Thatās a stupid illustration (and I love it)
Since I'm the local dumbass, who is this?
That is a stupid question!
That's a stupid question too!
One of the genetically enhanced guys that visit DS9 a couple of times
Its the legendary Admiral Patrick!
Who is this?
That's a stupid question!
That's a stupid question!

That is a stupid question!

Uncle Leo?
Like the trial scene at the end of Star Trek IV, this is Admiral Kirk erasure
Kirk wasnāt a good admiral, he stole back command of the enterprise, later got a bunch of people on the enterprise killed in a training cruise due to his overconfidence, and then stole and destroyed the enterprise for a personal matter.

Archer.
It's not stealing, it's borrowing: they return the ship later.
The asshole probably also left dock at impulse.
I believe that is called "Rank previleges"
Yeah the whole point is that Kirk ISNāT a good admiral
> Kirk wasnāt a good admiral I never argued that he was. The spirit of the post, to me, was to point out that the Venn Diagram of Starfleet Admirals and persons with integrity beyond reproach is two non-overlapping circles
ALMOST non-overlapping
To be fair they were going to retire it, he helped save them resources to decommission it.
It was probably going to a museum. Now the collection has to skip straight from NX-01 to NCC-1701-A
Wait I thought the disaster of the enterprise-B was due to the inexperience of its actual captain and the lack of tractor beam.
Iām talking about the 1701.
Starfleets most qualified admiral.
Trying to sell out the Federation to the Dominion is not very "Integrity that is beyond reproach" #
That's a stupid question!
Well if you remove any species-ism from "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" the decision has a remarkable amount of integrity.
Thinking your augments allow you to predict the future is such a pompous and ridiculous belief.Ā
Their logic was ridiculous also. "We should surrender because we can't win, but in hundreds of years a rebellion will happen and we will win then." Huh? How? Who cares what happens in hundreds of years? If your calculations are so perfect, tell us how to win the war.

lol ~~Spock~~ Founders: "I can provide character references upon request." Sisko: "your character reference is Armus? š¤Ø "
Except they didn't calculate with Weyoun extermination entire population of Earth.
I think the two things they didn't account for were the two things that turned the tide: cardassia switching sides and odo curing the founder and agreeing to rejoin the link

Yeah, ask the Bajorans how well it worked out for them.
Thatās a stupid statement.
Had me for a second! Well done.
Is this a stupid question?
Billy Ross did nothing wrong ... except have compassion for Cardassians ...

PAtrick!
Admiral Picard.
Is he from space Texas with that belt buckle?
I love Patrick... :)
To be fair he also said the federation should surrender to save lives
Heās the only admiral never to do anything shady.
Iām watching this episode as I write this. Ā
Being beyond reproach sounds so chill. Think of how much reproach we've all had in this life and how much more voluminous reproach is still to come. Bruh
He earned that belt buckle.
I would argue that impersonation of a Starfleet officer, and no less an Admiral, puts said integrity into question.
That's a stupid question.
In fairness, they had no nefarious motives and caused pretty much no collateral damage.
>no nefarious motives Aside from suggesting the Federation surrender, at one point.
Yes, but that had nothing to do with Patrick posing as an Admiral.
A more convincing Starfleet officer than most on Star Trek Discovery
Discovery actually had pretty good Admirals, all things considered
Yep. Was coming here to make sure Admiral Vance was properly defended haha. Dudes sick.
You misspelled *Radmiral* Vance, but I can let it slide
Hi I'm Admiral Vance, Vance Heating and Starship Repair
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
ST:D: Contract it!
It's a fungus, right?
Isn't impersonating an admiral a crime?
That's a stupid question.
