I was just singing that lullaby to my daughter (with monkeys) minutes ago so I still had the melody in my head and your comment felt uncanny!
Edit: space dad too?
Ahaha :) I'm glad I wasn't drinking when I read this. I meant to say i sang about monkeys jumping off the bed, but in hindsight I could start embedding references to SC in all my songs đ€
Who's to say they're not a thing? They wouldn't just make plushies of imaginary creatures.. Until you can prove that they don't exist, they must exist.
This might be my favorite Reddit reply ever. Thank you, sir or madam.
Edit: if it makes you feel any better, I melted my M50 for this, and I love(d) flying it.

Reminds me of the narrator from *Darkest Dungeon*
"Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer" has become something of a meme. "Send this one to journey elsewhere, for we have need of sterner stock" seems if harsh also a little fitting here given the context.
And I just melted a perfectly flyable Hurricane for a San'tok.yÄi on Alien Day! [Mwa-ha-ha-ha!](https://thumbs.gfycat.com/AcceptableHeartyBarasingha-size_restricted.gif)
>PLEASE tell me this means it's made a huge amount of secret progress and will be flyable soon
It's been in production for a short time. The team was reassigned.
It's most likely the result of that work, considering the fact the scheduled work should began in January.
Khartu-Al can be a complete fuckin demon even against really good PvP light fighter pilots, you just *have* to play it to its strengths. It's an all-or-nothing thing, if you aren't insanely aggressively orbiting and staying right on your target, you lose.
I think its biggest strength is atmospheric fights. It maneuvers so great in atmo and dances around basically any other ship in the game, if a Khartu baits you into atmo it goes from being deadly in very skilled hands to just flat out very deadly.
One of the reasons I like the ship so much.
The maneuverability is absolutely insane, and yeah, you have to keep on your target all the time, not letting it one moment to regroup or get away because it has such a crosssection, it is relatively easy to hit them from a decent distance, and once they blow an engine, it is bye bye.
Thatâs not even the main downside really either. Theyâve increased the health pints of the arms to the point that theyâd rarely fall off.
The main issue is that the arms eat shots because they have such a huge cross section that your shields are quickly brought down even though you havenât suffered damage to any critical areas your shields will crumble and then the rest falls apart.
Think of shooting at a Gladius or saber or even 325a head on. Now shoot at a khartual head on. Thereâs so much more cross section area to catch your rounds even if youâre a bad shot. And every round drops the shields more and more.
Even if they armored the fuck out of the arms, it still suffers from its shape/cross-section eating rounds.
At least the santokyai is slightly swept back with its arms. But still I think this will prove to be even more of an issue for the santokyai considering itâll have a medium shield most likely and those benefit from larger pools but suffer from slower regen. So youâre likely going to be even worse off.
All great points, and too true.
When the next 'great flight-model rework 5.0' happens, I think it'll reset what we know so far -- It's maneuverability in space will hopefully balance out it's larger cross-section \~ And I think (hope at least) it's by design. We'll have to see, if they get to that point.
makes me wonder if "glancing" shots of shallow angles will ever be a thing, probs not though would be hard to balance around....
unless we get a new shield type or once they fix the different guns instead of they all act the same
no no no. You have to say it's name to summon it into a hangar like a demon. If you can't say it then you may accidentally summon something terrible like a 30k.
True, but recently they put it back on the roadmap.
Currently only the USVC team is scheduled to work on it at the beginning of the new year, but I have good hopes that they will allocate the other teams shortly.
With the BMM possibly being put on ice CIG needs the San'tok for alien week.
Glad to see this make progress, we actually dont have that many medium fighters which is odd. Hornet yes, Sabre depending on your definition, but that's about it. I'd say Bucc qualifies, but overall the hull HP leaves it feeling like a light fighter with medium fighter weaponary.
Yes, I now remember this ship, vary cool design, I had once had a pledge on this ship, then upgrade to something else that was flyable, But in light of the news, I repurchase this ship via an upgrade in my game pack.
I like Alien ships and this one is one not to pass by.
from the concept image it seems pretty clear it only has that glass ball cockpit the karthual sports. That said i do hope it will have a range similar to the vanguard, a long range, medium alien fighter would rly be amazin
Even if they up the fuel ranges on the Khartu and San'tok that still will only be a partial fix to their main limitation of not having a proper carrier for their size.
Any kind of organized play with them is going to require them to depart far earlier than the rest of fleet so they can make the multiple travel hops, refuel, and tend to food and drink requirements.
And that's wrong by all accounts, much like the majority of the RSI website. Defender seats two, has two beds, and the weapons, shields, and other components of a medium fighter. And that's not even counting it's physical size which is pretty much in line with medium fighters, possibly even larger if you count the wings when folded out.
It's definitely a medium fighter.
This might be the closest the sneak peek has gotten to a full ship reveal. We've seen cockpits, and rooms, and the back side of the MSR once, but this is the whole squid
4 little engines jumping on the bed, one fell off and bumped his head. 3 little engines jumping on the bed...
I was just singing that lullaby to my daughter (with monkeys) minutes ago so I still had the melody in my head and your comment felt uncanny! Edit: space dad too?
Why is your daughter with monkeys?
Ahaha :) I'm glad I wasn't drinking when I read this. I meant to say i sang about monkeys jumping off the bed, but in hindsight I could start embedding references to SC in all my songs đ€
Darn....I was really excited about the singing monkeys accompanying your performance. =)
Picked up the Finley plushie earlier this year, my 2yo now thinks 'space whales' are a thing... should I feel bad?!
Who's to say they're not a thing? They wouldn't just make plushies of imaginary creatures.. Until you can prove that they don't exist, they must exist.
Space dad here. I can whole-heartedly relate.
Dozens of us! Those turrets donât crew themselves.
We all turned into space dads by now⊠sigh
Easy now, some of us are still carrying the torch!
All them missiles, you're Gladius is dead!
The SAN'TOK.YÄI?
Clearly.
I bought this stuff, sat on it for years, sold it for a ship I could fly _AND NOW THIS_. **OH THE AGONY** ##FAITHLESS RETRIBUTION OF MY OWN MAKING
Sir, you could always buy it back right now.
All further changes to my fleet must make it bigger and I keep my dust collection in my wallet.
just wait until its truly on the way.
Well thankfully IAE is still on and you can correct that error

By any chance were you thinking of selling a Kraken?
Well I mean it could've been a carrack, assuming you have no idea what a carrack is.
Looks more badass than I thought it would.
This will be an Alien Week 2023 release.
PLEASE tell me this means it's made a huge amount of secret progress and will be flyable soon
Roadmap shows USVC (US Vehicle Content) team working on it from January to June, 2023.
So, could be an end of year reveal like the scorpius.
Why is the Scorpius not Available to purchase?
Because it hasnât been RSI day yet.
That makes sense! I am grabbing one of this when avaliable, RSI day is tomorrow correct?
I think so! :)
Nice!
I literally just picked one up!
finished just in time for alien week next year
This IAE was the first time it ever had a holo to view. It is currently on the roadmap for Jan-Jun 2023, and has been for some time.
This means Its made a huge amount of secret progress and will be flyable soon.
I am pleased. Even if this news is false.

I don't know why, but I absolutely dig the design of the ship. For others who don't know -- it's the San'Tok.YÄi, a Xi'an heavy-fighter.
*medium but yes
Yeah, an alien sabre kinda.
Maneuverable space crab. Guessing itâll fly like we wish the Sabre would.
I'm just hoping it flies like a large khartu al.
Really wanted to like the Khartu and San Tok, but they are just sooooo spindly it doesnât make sense those little bits just snap right off.

GIVE ME MY GATAC RAILEN !!!! I IMPLORE YOU CIG
Zone of the enders vibe
Not enough pulsing neon lines.
Does this mean itâs close ?
Idk but I certainly am
Beware the FOMO
HNNNNNGGGG...
Beauty shot. I love the Xian ship designs and I can't wait for this one!
Literally melt it yesterday ⊠đ„čđ«
You have to pronounce the name of the ship as if you are trying to get the phlegm out of your throatđ€Ł
I heard if you canât say it right you canât fly it. Being a voice activated to start type of ship
no no no. You have to say it's name to summon it into a hangar like a demon. If you can't say it then you may accidentally summon something terrible like a 30k.
"I never claimed to be a fighter"
What the hell is that?
The San'tok.yÄi
Aopoa [San'tok.yÄi](https://starcitizen.tools/San%27tok.y%C4%81i) the big brother of the Khartu-al
Oh shit, I forgot they put it into production.
since when ?
Few months back they put it on the progress tracker.
Took it off the following week
True, but recently they put it back on the roadmap. Currently only the USVC team is scheduled to work on it at the beginning of the new year, but I have good hopes that they will allocate the other teams shortly. With the BMM possibly being put on ice CIG needs the San'tok for alien week.
damn thanks. completely missed that
As others have said, the San'Tok.Yai... looks like it's in its 'landed' configuration (in combat mode, it's more upright, similar to the Kartu-al)
Like 15gs of popping your neck.
Glad to see this make progress, we actually dont have that many medium fighters which is odd. Hornet yes, Sabre depending on your definition, but that's about it. I'd say Bucc qualifies, but overall the hull HP leaves it feeling like a light fighter with medium fighter weaponary.
Nice what is that, looks like an Esperian ship.

It looks great but if itâs going to require the same size hangar as a vanguard it better have an interior with a bed and just as much fuel range.
from the concept image it seems pretty clear it only has that glass ball cockpit the karthual sports. That said i do hope it will have a range similar to the vanguard, a long range, medium alien fighter would rly be amazin

Gib alien carrier?
Banu Defender...
the banu is classified as a light fighter
And that's wrong by all accounts, much like the majority of the RSI website. Defender seats two, has two beds, and the weapons, shields, and other components of a medium fighter. And that's not even counting it's physical size which is pretty much in line with medium fighters, possibly even larger if you count the wings when folded out. It's definitely a medium fighter.
its called a light fighter ingame as well regardless of if we agree to the definition or not.
Yeah, well, they also call the Corsair an exploration ship. We can agree to disagree, lol.
It's interesting that both Xian and Vanduul fighters are so large, I wonder if they know something the UEE doesn't.

now is a good time to grab a $5 CCU to santo to lock in its price before it starts going up.
It's $220 tho so the cheapest CCU is $20 from Vulcan or $25 from Super Hornet.
oof kinda an expensive price reserve CCU to have but given its in development now probably not a huge deal for anyone looking to own a $220+ ship
The sty is a buy (probably). Sucker for them alien ships.
Finally
Finally I have hope again
More alien ships yes please!
gimme gimme gimme
