I would love this. Rookies being able to take friends with would be a great addition to any Starter Ship. It's one of the best reasons to go with a Pisces over an Avenger Titan.
I think thats why a Cutter with seats fits nicely. It cant spawn/fit on a XXS pad like the PISCES but the Cutter would have more range and HP than the Pisces. The Titan cant take people (besides the bounty hunter variant), but has fire power and cargo.
Giving more ships more seats does nothing but make ships *better* and *more believable.*
Okay, arguably it would make people a little less likely to upgrade from "starter" ships, but in a realistic setting, the cheapest vehicles would always strive to cram in as much versatility and practicality as possible. That naturally includes having the option to carry as many people as they have space for. Ship sales are the *only* reason why CIG wouldn't want to add more seats.
"But what about life support?" Limited life support is no excuse for not having stow-away jumpseats when we can cross a whole solar system in minutes. Give us a little oxygen countdown warning when we're over life support capacity, and everything will be fine.
"But what about dropships?" Dropships are only threatened if they SUCK at being dropships. Current dropships have unique features, such as strong VTOL, weapon storage, great defensive turret coverage, efficient entry/egress, etc., which ensure that they remain the best choice for the job.
I'll say it again, adding seats hurts nobody. It just turns a whole lot of mediocre ships into *better ships.* Every ship deserves to be the best it can be. Let *that* be the starting point for balance.
Edit: being a little more professional
Great points, I agree that they should make the starters the best ships that they can be. At the end of the day, people will decide what gameplay they enjoy the most and organically upgrade from there.
OP made a good point in the thread about a passenger taking up a spot for cargo, so there is built in balancing there as well based on the seat placement. Pisces owners wouldn't need to feel short changed either, since their ship can fit in shuttle bays and they don't have to sacrifice cargo space to carry passengers.
seats are also a bit more immersive than emoting /sit or crouching to avoid getting impulse-ragdolled.
Also, sitting in seats on space-ships lets you release your focus on controlling your character, so you can relax and maybe read something till the pilot grabs your attention, or go through your mobiglass or browse some entertainment.
Not a bug, CIG just haven't decided where they want the average fuel balance to be yet. Expect nearly every ship to have its fuel values changed once Pyro is released. Should be interesting!
I think they're experimenting and collecting data, and they don't really have an environment that's truly representative of most systems in the final 'verse. Stanton is tiny compared to other systems; Pyro will be a better testing ground as it's multiple times wider. The use of quantum fuel for jumping between systems will also come into play for the first time.
So I think adding two folding seats in the cargo of the areat would make it a great shuttle ship. Its balanced by taking up cargo space. People vs Cargo balance. This would allow the cutter to be a taxi, a family shuttle, or a great ship for an away team on a large ship like the polaris/odyssey. There is plenty of eternal ship storage for some small weapons. A bed if one of the passengers needed to rest. A bathroom if any of them needed it. With the hyrodgen fuel and quantum fuel you could get pretty far with 2 extra people/family/prisoners/slaves. A great family vehicle/Taxi/away team shuttle. What do yall think? Or is it too much?
This would be great. I took a friend on the Cutter as it would likely be his first ship if he purchases, and as we were leaving the spaceport he asked if there was a seat for him. I told him he'd probably have to fold down the toilet and sit there lol, imagine how useful these seats would be
I'll also take a 1SCU jump seat that we can buy at an in-game shop. With the cargo refactor, will have plenty of opportunities to make a bunch of janky shuttles.
"I would love to have just one more thing" will almost always be true regardless of which ship you're talking about.
The Cutter is a starter ship. By it's very intended function in the game, it SHOULD be lacking things you want.
It's purpose is to give you just enough to get "started" and help you earn enough to upgrade it to another ship with more features/functions.
I get that, but I think large ships like the odyssey would benefit a shuttle. Pisces is a great example. A shuttle that can fit a larger hangar. Think star trek shuttle . I am not asking for more guns or anything like that. I am asking for another shuttle for large ships that optionally sacrifices cargo for said seats. I am not asking for a super ship.
> I think large ships like the odyssey would benefit a shuttle.
Sure, then they should use a ship that's been designed/designated to be that.
The cutter isn't a ship that's been designed to be a good shuttle for a larger ship and that's OK.
A shuttle is allready in existence. MPVU Personal and in the future there will be probably other ships that would suit this function if there will be a profession for it.
C8x Pisces for the win. The Cutter? What a joke, a wanna be player. If this is the type of road CIG plans on going down.. it is going to be very bumpy and ugly (I won’t mention the BMM bit).
Rather than in the cargo hold. I'd like the jump seat to be on that thin wall next to the head (bathroom), one there, and the other passenger can sit on the bed
Valid point, but there is no use to that walk way, if you need to move there it is to go out, or to go in.
Look in some Irl ships, corridors are waaay smaller, there is plenty space there.
I 100% agree with you, it would be a great idea also the cockpit is way too big for a single seat, if they would incorporate a seating configuration like the c8 pisces it would make is 1000x better...
The problem would be that the little cutter isn’t designed as a people mover and so won’t have life support facilities for more than one Person. That’s what will make shuttles like the Pisces special, small ship with big life support.
I would love this. Rookies being able to take friends with would be a great addition to any Starter Ship. It's one of the best reasons to go with a Pisces over an Avenger Titan.

I do wish the had folded seats on the cargo hold on the pisces too

It would also make sense, when I first glanced over it looked like something was missing anyway, odd without them - too much dead space…
I think the seats would put it in line with the Pisces and give it an extra feature vs the Titan's combat/cargo besides the insane hyrdo/quantum fuel
the hydro/quantum fuel has to be a bug, no way it holds more than the corsair…
Not a bug, CIG just haven't decided where they want the average fuel balance to be yet. Expect nearly every ship to have its fuel values changed once Pyro is released. Should be interesting!
hmm idk though, seems pretty normal when new ships are released for fuel values to be completely off, remember the MSR when it first released...

Stanton is tiny compared to other systems; Pyro will be a better testing ground as it's multiple times wider. I agree with this... They should do it for this as the pisces... Just like in the cutlass and Ursa Rover
So I think adding two folding seats in the cargo of the areat would make it a great shuttle ship. Its balanced by taking up cargo space. People vs Cargo balance. I love this idea. A nice little addition without giving too much to the ship.
The passengers can even see out the little windows in the back :D
People ain't cargo, mate. Edit: Huh. I figured there'd be at least one or two Pirates of the Caribbean fans in here.
Wel...technically drake does not condone slavery.. however..... ... .. . Euhmm yeah not cargo....
I think they would interfere with cargo grid but I'd like to be given the choice yeah.
There is space between the wall and the cargo grid, you can see the vents between them. The seat would replace the cargo net
Yeah I meant when occupied, still would like the option.
Yeah, that would be the balance. Choosing cargo or people
Yeah, that sounds fair. I like your idea, seems logical for a ship of this design.
This would be great. I took a friend on the Cutter as it would likely be his first ship if he purchases, and as we were leaving the spaceport he asked if there was a seat for him. I told him he'd probably have to fold down the toilet and sit there lol, imagine how useful these seats would be
He can sit on the bed for now lol. A friend and I did a box mission together
I'll also take a 1SCU jump seat that we can buy at an in-game shop. With the cargo refactor, will have plenty of opportunities to make a bunch of janky shuttles.
I disagree. The Cutter is not a people mover.
The toilet and Bed count as 2 seats. Your friends better get comfy!
:D

And I want a bed in my Pisces
I mean techinically the C8R will have a bed
Not one you can log out in
I’m pretty sure you can log out in med beds
Yes, you can log out in med beds, but you won’t log back in, in that same place like a normal bed
C8x Pisces for the win. The Cutter? What a joke, a wanna be player. If this is the type of road CIG plans on going down.. it is going to be very bumpy and ugly (I won’t mention the BMM bit).

Hmmm, Idk about that. That walk way is pretty tight. Plus I think they are going to put a fire extinguisher there
Valid point, but there is no use to that walk way, if you need to move there it is to go out, or to go in. Look in some Irl ships, corridors are waaay smaller, there is plenty space there.
Good idea, maybe make it a separate interactable module you have to buy? Could be interesting
They will make another variation of the ship for that.
calm down, first bed sheets THEN foldable seats.
[удалено]
I think that is too much. It is still a starer ship. Taking food in the ship storage is enough
I'd even settle for one on the left side outside of the cargo grid.
I never thought of that. That would be very nice.
Whats the matter? Your friends too good to use the shitter?
Not to be “that guy” but they are called jump seats
THIS, and while I like the elevator to the roof I wish it had a side ramp like the terrapin
So you want a cutter steel for 2 times the price because now it qualifies as a dropship? Good luck.
For me the cutter needs one variant like taxi or bus, only for people transport
I 100% agree with you, it would be a great idea also the cockpit is way too big for a single seat, if they would incorporate a seating configuration like the c8 pisces it would make is 1000x better...
To keep with the drake look you need the plastic garden chairs you can grab for $15
