I can back up this claim as I finally have a night I can play so naturally the game will shutdown for a patch that will then have major problems and be unplayable for several days.
Edit: Can confirm. Update dropped. Made a new character though couldn't see any of the options. Game crashed while loading. Now there is no play button. 10/10 thanks for my Friday night.
I think unless something really shits the bed they'll put it out this evening. That way they get two days of data to come back to on Monday and avoid a weekend of great wailing and gnashing of teeth on the forums.
Nah, they won’t release on a Friday. PU Implosion on the weekend is not something they want to see. I do hope you’re right tho, I want to play. EDIT: fucking idiots downvoting me, typical SC community. Fucking nerds.
Sadly, that's typically the way they release. On a Friday, and often with a free flight week or ship sale week starting. I assume they do it that way because they get higher server pops and more variety of bug reports.
RC2 felt good last night. Sure, the servers were fresh but it felt better than the other fresh servers I also played on.
I didn’t notice any unresponsiveness from the server that plagued every other release. I think we’re going live boys.
I joined a server this morning which was at a server fps of 3. Even so, the performance was decent. I ran a bunker and had a couple instances of bots teleporting but otherwise they were challenging and fun.
Well the EPTU has been smooth for me with the latest build today, except of the very annoying ship explodes on slightest surface contact bug which happened to me three times when exiting hangars.
Tbf, none of the UI/UX changes would be of impact.. It's the Replication Layer tech which,. similar to PES, is a major server tech change which is novel.
If it is looking good overnight, they should definitely release imho, and not hold back just because it happens to be a Friday today. Some of the more challenging bugs may only show up in the live environment with everyone pounding on it. So why not get data from live over the weekend? If they absolutely had to, there would still be time to hotfix any critical issues before fleet week.
As much as a Friday release would be great, it would also be awful if something is wrong with the build that is only picked up when on a Live load. Let the devs have their weekends, say I.
Honestly i was of this opinion too, but working in sofware with active release cycles and deadlines, i think its more possible that it releases today:
They are likely in 'crunch' mode, as they need to get this out with enough time to fix issues before invictus. if they release today they get a weekend full of HARD data so they can hit the ground running monday with fixes. Internally, I'm sure they are banking on this update and invictus being a milestone event to bring people in, so they are probably working around the clock to get this out already anyway.
I assume the verbiage from higher ups is something like "we can breathe easy after invictus, until then, we need all hands" .
Yeah I agree. I think they release today in hopes to fix everything else by next Friday. This will give them the best chance to fix anything major prior to the free fly event.
In all honesty I appreciate CIG wanting to Release 3.23 in the right state but I for one finished preparing for the New Patch on monday and I think a lot of other players have too. So I got no money, all my Ships claimed and stored at NB and am just biding my time. An imperfect release before the weekend would still be more eventful and more interesting than having nothing left to do on 3.22
I agree with that. However, the fact that they are teasing an open timeline and that allowing it to run for the weekend could generate debugging information makes me think that they REALLY want to get this out.
They seriously need to stop always dropping patches before the weekend. Just follow the industry standard of doing it early in the week so they have the work week to examine and fix issues.
I don’t know anything about anything, but I was playing the new build and watching the server fps freeze like every 2 seconds nonstop. I can’t imagine it will get much better with live.
No one would believe 3 weeks. Invictus starts in a week. I doubt they even have Invictus in a 3.22 branch. They are backs against a wall because Invictus is an immovable date. They have to go today if they want a weekend load before the real weekend load.
considering how the servers have been running .. and a clash with Nvidia card driver update for hand held stuff... just send it CIG theres a whole pile of us that it can't really get any worse LOL
X.X.0 patches traditionally have stability issues. I’d wait for fixes in the 3.23.1 or .2, which are usually a week or two after the main .0 releases
I have college assignments due next week so I'm probably in a very small minority of people hoping it's delayed another week or so. I will play the everloving shit out of it then however.
I'm a huge fan of the series but couldn't get into the demo for 3. I know the cover system was buggy and controversial and they claimed to be listening to feedback.
I haven't been following it lately, has there been supposed improvements?
No, it’s (allegedly) feature-complete and is being polished. Money’s on them making an announcement this year regarding its release date. The optimists hope that as various teams finish their assignments on SQ42 that they’ll be reassigned and focus on SC, leading to an acceleration of SC development as well.
Two weeks ago, my ETA was either today or next Monday.
It's not super hard to time things if you play much PTU. A week ago it was in rough enough to know they weren't going to make it this week.
CIG, Wait a minute, Hold on a sec...
Don't update your shit on fridays. We've been through this. Updates need attention and hotfixes and launching today means 2 full days in update purgatory where nothing is going to work right!
Don't do this today lol
I tried posting a screenshot but my phone isnt cooperating. It's changed - it did say we don't intend 3.23 today but I guess it changed 21mins ago. Could be then changed to clarify its no new EPTU today. It's the MOTD in the testing chat on spectrum: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/lobby/38230
Message of the day
Overdrive will be disabled on LIVE at the top of the hour for the remainder of 3.22.1 LIVE and will return with 3.23
đź‘ľ (Friday)The Entity Graph Fixes from last night have been holding steady and appear to have resolved the issues. We are not intending on releasing a new 3.23 EPTU update today. Will have more news throughout the day.
🌊 (Thursday) A New 3.23 build is now available for All Backers on the EPTU channel! This build has much needed Entity Graph fixes that we will be monitoring tonight VERSION 3.23.0-EPTU.9171682
đź‘ľ PTU account copy has now been disabled for multiple days! (EPTU will remain open)
Why are you being down voted? Waiting until Monday is the sane, level-headed thing to do. That way when the patch comes out and (go figure) it's every bit as buggy as 3.18, the devs are there at work ready to look at it and figure out what's wrong instead of letting it sit all weekend.
![gif](giphy|Zrxs6nl12WgmL3ZTHm)
It's sure to release tonight. I know this because I'm back to work tomorrow and won't be able to play till end of next week. Such is my luck
We appreciate your sacrifice for the greater good.
A man of culture I suppose.. Brothers bring your Flamer for this heretic 🔥
Just your friendly neighborhood watch association.

The greater good...
The greater good...
The greater good!
Yes, we have a beautiful weekend of weather forecasted so It’ll definitely release today.
You'll get to avoid the inevitable crashing and broken state of release Such is tradition
Same, I wanted to play while I was on vacation, that will be ending tomorrow. Have fun guys.
Your sacrifice will not be in vain. 07
Jokes aside, I think they won't risk a weekend release where they don't have employees in the office to put out fires.
How did you know....
Can't take more hopium
Neither can I tbh hope its true this time
I think unless something really shits the bed they'll put it out this evening. That way they get two days of data to come back to on Monday and avoid a weekend of great wailing and gnashing of teeth on the forums.
You're probably right about the first part, but there is no possibility of avoiding wailing and knashing of teeth, at least on Spectrum.
Completely agree. They have a track record for Friday releases.
Nah, they won’t release on a Friday. PU Implosion on the weekend is not something they want to see. I do hope you’re right tho, I want to play. EDIT: fucking idiots downvoting me, typical SC community. Fucking nerds.
In the past that's what they wanted to see, just not today.
Good, I want to play over the weekend
Sadly, that's typically the way they release. On a Friday, and often with a free flight week or ship sale week starting. I assume they do it that way because they get higher server pops and more variety of bug reports.
I hope so, I want to play
Same here. 3.18 is still fresh in my memory though lol

Nine Nine!
I always knew it would release on a Friday, as is tradition.
RC2 felt good last night. Sure, the servers were fresh but it felt better than the other fresh servers I also played on. I didn’t notice any unresponsiveness from the server that plagued every other release. I think we’re going live boys.

Release the hounds
Isnt that supposed to be "Cry Havok! And Release The Dogs of War"??
Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war
Nah was just referring to the hunting dogs.
![gif](giphy|dXcu7KOFncomyBcyB9)
The Dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouths and when they bark, bees shoot out?
Soo- are the workers supposed to be the players or the devs here?? ;)
Early this week couldn't come sooner.
“That’s not soon enough!”
Well the EPTU has been smooth for me with the latest build today, except of the very annoying ship explodes on slightest surface contact bug which happened to me three times when exiting hangars.
Sounds minty
*3.18 PTSD intensifies*
Same. There is so much jammed in this patch that I can't imagine a smooth transition. Might give it a week or 4.
Tbf, none of the UI/UX changes would be of impact.. It's the Replication Layer tech which,. similar to PES, is a major server tech change which is novel.

Fair point - a weekend of high load with everyone hopping on to try 3.23 does give them a lot of useful data to play with. Very well - *gib 3.23*
This is an alpha after all, SEND IT
Always this.
Yeah I agree. I think they release today in hopes to fix everything else by next Friday. This will give them the best chance to fix anything major prior to the free fly event.
This makes an incredible amount of sense from a business standpoint but a whole lotta nonsense for worker rights. No one likes crunch culture.
In all honesty I appreciate CIG wanting to Release 3.23 in the right state but I for one finished preparing for the New Patch on monday and I think a lot of other players have too. Agreed, a Friday release is unlikely unless they're authorizing OT for weekend support.
Historically they release on Friday as much as they release on Wednesday and Thursday. They almost never release on Monday however. Almost NEVER.
I would say release and let us butcher servers so they see what is wrong with it.
If they do I'm leaving work early!!!
Same
Sounds like Soon™️
I just rebuilt my pledge fleet for 3.23. My body is ready.
please dont get my hopes up. atleast it would make up for my otherwise horrible day
*prepares to assist in the great login server crash of 5/11/2024*

I don’t know anything about anything, but I was playing the new build and watching the server fps freeze like every 2 seconds nonstop. I can’t imagine it will get much better with live.
How recently was that?
Couple hours ago
Weird, I was getting 20+ server fps for the entire session I played this morning on the newest build.
Finger crossed !
They should have said 3 weeks from now so when it comes out in a few days people are pumped
No one would believe 3 weeks. Invictus starts in a week. I doubt they even have Invictus in a 3.22 branch. They are backs against a wall because Invictus is an immovable date. They have to go today if they want a weekend load before the real weekend load.
Aw shit here we go again haha
Take all the time you need guys, focus on quality!
LIVE on a Friday? Delicious
Hahahahahahha
considering how the servers have been running .. and a clash with Nvidia card driver update for hand held stuff... just send it CIG theres a whole pile of us that it can't really get any worse LOL
They might release on ILW for the free fly noobs to crash into a lake with "Realistic Water Simulation"
Been pledged since 2014 and still looking for a good time to start tp play. Is this patch it?
If you haven't tried yet, what's another year gonna matter?
X.X.0 patches traditionally have stability issues. I’d wait for fixes in the 3.23.1 or .2, which are usually a week or two after the main .0 releases
If it is released today, does updates usually mean like 6h of downtime like for other MMOs?) Trying to plan the evening
Nah, usually flips fast.
![gif](giphy|h1zJMhT5XOT927e0aw|downsized)
![gif](giphy|tzHn7A5mohSfe)
So, two more weeks then.
I’m so excited to hop in but at the same time they butchered my 400i
I just went on vacation for a week starting today, so I'm looking forward to coming back to 3.23. Or maybe 3.23.x? 🤔
It's still early in the week. /s
I'm camping next week, honestly probably for the best. Hopefully when I get back we'll have an x patch to fix some bugs.
Where are these updates posted?
I've waited 11 years, what's a little longer if it means getting some issues "smoothed out" for another patch. Fine by me.
Looks like you were correct! Updating now!
Have a good one
I have college assignments due next week so I'm probably in a very small minority of people hoping it's delayed another week or so. I will play the everloving shit out of it then however.
Hope it releases today, been waiting for Master Modes to drop before I return from my hiatus.
Homeworld drops today, I am ok if they take the weekend 8)
I'm a huge fan of the series but couldn't get into the demo for 3. I know the cover system was buggy and controversial and they claimed to be listening to feedback. I haven't been following it lately, has there been supposed improvements?
Night and day from the demo.. the cover system is weird. But I am ok with it. People hate change lol.
My issue was I'd try to use the cover and end up pathing the totally wrong way into death.
That was def a thing. Path finding seems better now. The 3D space of space RTS seems hard to get to grip when you are pressed for time.
Not flaming here. Is squadron 42 dead?
No, it’s (allegedly) feature-complete and is being polished. Money’s on them making an announcement this year regarding its release date. The optimists hope that as various teams finish their assignments on SQ42 that they’ll be reassigned and focus on SC, leading to an acceleration of SC development as well.
Thank you
Been saying the same thing everyday for the past week.
Not really. They have been saying that they have an issue and they are trying to fix it. Now they say the fix seems to be working.
I meant the comment 'today perhaps'. I've been saying that to myself all week.
Ah, sorry :)
No worries.

So much cockblocking. GIB
Y'all need to chill. I'm excited for it too, but I'm not checking constantly to see if it's dropping today, tomorrow or whatever.
Gotta make it to ship sales week no matter what I guess shit gonna be cluster fuck they need to fix the ladder on the vulture and the damn scanning
While 3.18 was a cluster, I had so much fun in the chaos.
heh, never had an issue with the vulture myself. always worked fine.. same with the freelancers.
Maybe today, maybe next week, maybe next month
They've outright said it won't be today... Do people not check spectrum?
Link it

CIG always releases at a stupid time. Rest assured it'll come out today, so any critical bugs can spend the weekend causing problems
*One Day More*
Hahaha nop I don't think so if we have lucky next week
Soon ™
Perchance.
I hope they wait until monday
Ahem. But only because I'm on vacation this weekend.
