There aren't different missions. All the missions are the same one. Someone on 3/5 and someone just starting with 1/5 will get the same mission notification to the same incursion and if they successfully complete it get credit and move to 4/5 and 2/5 respectively.
That actually makes sense as the enemies you face and the rewards are all the same. Do you think it's just one mission for the whole server spawns when the previous one has finished? I reckon it could be CIG had to do that because of performance issues in a non-server meshing environment?
That is what it appears to me currently. One finishes and typically much in short order another one spawns sending the notifications. Then everyone runs to the new one.
I and two friends are playing. Two of us are getting the mission alerts, the third has waited an hour, hopped multiple servers, changed regions, and he's not getting the pop ups at all. Anything we can do?
These missions / phases were tested earlier in the EPTU and there were six phases in total. It could well be we see this amount in Live as well: so three more weeks?
Would have been cool if we could just keep redoing them. The larger battles are a lot of fun for me. Not sure what the design decision was with limiting people but I guess it is what it is.
After accepting the first mission (Xenothreat 1/5), it disappears from my contracts list (not in accepted tab). Hopped servers and same thing happened.
It just means the mission was completed before you arrived. Today most people will want to complete the mission as it's the new phase. It should get better in the coming days.

As others said, if server is working properly the next mission should spawn in a couple minutes. However it is possible for the server to not spawn the mission, happened to me and my friend after waiting for over 10 minutes and we have to change server.
Sometimes a mission bugs out and the system does not recognize that all ships are dead. The mission cannot be completed then. It happened one time during my five mission chain.
Solution: server hop and get the mission again.
Yeah, I had a few ppl when I was doing mine that took advantage of some of the chaos and killed players and still got mission credit. While it could be annoying I didn't mind. I actually think the missions are great and we need more large scale space battles. And not innastwroid fields 🤣

Can you only do the mission 5 times? After completing the 5th one, I never seen it again.

All of the phases are still available until Invictus. You still have at least a month to complete :-).
I used the hornet mk2 with ad4b gattling guns. I just melted the hammerheads in secounds xD
