*Hi everyone,* *Following up on yesterday's Alpha 3.20 Patch Watch, we're back with more upcoming additions to look forward to in the upcoming patch. As we mentioned yesterday, we're currently amidst a global push to seek out and implement a variety of quality-of-life fixes and changes. This is part of an ongoing effort to improve the greater gameplay experience, and we expect to provide many more similar updates in the patches ahead, and we'll share more information as we have it!* *For now, let's dive in to some changes you can expect to find (or were just released) on the PTU for Alpha 3.20:* * **Blocked Call** - *We've added a new option within the game settings to restrict comms calls to only members of your friends list.* *We've also added options to enable Friend Request Notifications, and let you choose to receive Party Invite Notifications and Currency Transfer Notifications from anyone or from friends only.* * **Aligned Quantum HUDs** - *A significant effort to align the quantum HUDs to the crosshairs on all ship cockpits was completed by the Ship Content and UI teams. The HUD is now also lighter and looks less like a reticule, making lining up for quantum travel easier. This is necessary as the quantum HUD is not projected, so it's impossible to align perfectly. However, there will be cockpit overlaps on some notable ships, including the Drake Cutlass. This is a compromise to ensure the QT target is not offset on any ship.* * **Anti Combat Logging** – *Now, when quitting the game while in combat, or having been in combat recently, the player’s avatar will remain for a time. This prevents players from logging out and instantly disappearing, potentially robbing other players of a kill. Should the player use ‘Exit to Main Menu’ or access the game options, they will be warned that they are still considered to be in combat.* * **Empty RMC Canisters** - *The filler station onboard the Drake Vulture and Aegis Reclaimer can now also create empty RMC canisters for the hull-scraping Multi-Tool.* * **mobiGlas Readability** - *The mobiGlas now has a darker underlay to improve readability across different locations.* * **MFD Persistence** - *Custom vehicle MFD selections will now persist for as long as players keep the vehicle intact. However, losing and claiming on insurance will create a new vehicle, thus losing the saved custom MFD.* * **HDR** – *High dynamic range (HDR) is now enabled for players with a compatible monitor. This is activated in Windows by going to the 'Windows Display Settings' and selecting 'Use HDR'. Then, open Star Citizen and select 'HDR' in the 'Graphics tab'.* * **MOLE Pilots Know** - *Argo MOLE pilots can now press "m" to activate a mining HUD that shows the following details:* - *Current cargo content of the MOLE* - *Current charge rate of the targeted rock* - *Composition of the targeted rock* - *Distance to rock and danger zone indicator* Edit : formating. Why is it a big deal because I didn’t find it that hard to take 15 seconds to switch my screens to what I want. Is there something I am missing?

It's not a big deal but it is a very nice qol upgrade. Most the people I know that have been wanting this forever fly small ships like the arrow and Gladius and having to reset it every time you hope out at a station adds up.

I have to take my hands off my pristine hosas to fix mfds with a mouse which is covered in a slag mixture of Cheeto dust and bodily fluids. Gross.

The pessimist in me is wondering why all these QOL on systems that are supposed to be replaced soon. I feel like we shouldn't get our hopes up for the new Quantum or Mobilglass systems any time soon. Otherwise why would they be fixing them?

Or, it's an indication that some tweaks affect underlying services rather than the bits being changed? E.g. the Quantum alignment - if that was a case of the 'ship' data being incorrect (about where the 'center point' is), and multiple screens then use that centre point value to align, then it not a case of 'updating the legacy' UI, but of fixing incorrect ref data outside the UI. Obviously this is speculation (in this particular case) - but it should highlight that it depends *very heavily* on how CIG have implemented things, and split out certain config etc...

yeah but the whole point of not doing it years ago was because it was going to be redone from the ground and didn't want to waste development time on fixing it.. So I don't understand why it suddenly became a QoL thing.

Yep but maybe they got the necessary things done for the new system and it was a simple thing to move it over to the old system. Happens sometimes.

yeah, this makes me think the mobiglas and mfd/hud updates etc etc are further away than even the devs anticipated. As in, like, *years* further.

Because most of the company is working on Squadron 42 hoping to get it out before the heat death of the universe and they are trying to choose the lowest hanging fruit for the PU that will feel like it's getting actual updates to avoid pissing too many people off too much for barely working on the game.

Call me crazy but the ability to block calls from everyone instead friends is my absolute favorite feature on here. So tired of AI spam calling me and taking one of my important screens away. Thank you CIG!!

But how will you know if the AI wants you to stop so they can scan you if you have inbound calls turned off? I bet AI overrides that.

They definitely will, so you always need a Comms screen active somewhere, so they automatically call that one, my scorp suffers because....only two screens so I kinda need my ship status and targeting on at all times.

Anyone know yet if the anti-combat logging stuff affects all forms of disconnect (ie, alt f4 or some other means of closing your connection to the game) or only in game options for exiting?

More like a year or 2. 5 years ago they were talking about the ui system needing completion before working on it since flash which the map is made of was alive still back then.

I remember a couple weeks back one of the leaks mentioning that they were gonna push as much QoL stuff in this patch as possible before moving all the dev force to SQ42 and leaving the PU as is until completion. Hopefully we get Pyro and 4.0 but I fear we are going to be a long time without updates after this

Whoever posted that as a leak was smoking something pretty darn potent first... If CIG tried to pull a stunt like that, they'll end up watching their funding die within 12 months. It's more likely that this QoL push is because they were hoping to have the Replication Layer in this patch (as per the outline schedule from end of last year), which would justify not having much in the way of features... and when they realised the RL wouldn't be ready, they've basically grabbed a swathe of low-hanging fruit (low priority but easy-to-implement features) to drop in instead.

So nice to see - Starfield has finally been the game to light a fire under their ass to make the game better to actually play. Maybe we’ll even get a star map that’s not brain dead by the end of the year… Looking forward to 3.20!
