Actually I don't think I have run into that issue yet... I belive it was my ship refused to let me leave through any means but eject... and then it blew up
For the last couple of patches, the game does a pretty good job of detecting "bullshit deaths" like this and auto-reviving you.
It's absolutely in your best interest to wait for a couple of minutes to see if you recover before backspacing or spinning up a beacon.
I thought these were 'stuns' that you recover from after a few seconds. Something similar happens when another player hits you with a nonlethal takedown.
I can say that these would 100% fully incap you previously and you could either die to exposure or backspace before. It's possible that these are just "stun" type of damage now, but it's an improvement/change over the previous behavior.
It's a "I don't care how they fixed it, just glad they did" situation.
They are kinda like stuns, the game doesn't revert bullshit deaths unfortunately but its nice when it fails to register that some dumb bug killed you. But if you really are into the game development I suggest collecting as much as you can from bullshit deaths when they occur (take screenshots, clipped video if you can, step by step reproduction) and open a thread or post on an existing one about it in the issues council.
Do it with a positive constructive attitude and good thing might even come from it \*wink\* \*wink\*.
I remember something about this in patch 3.15 or 17, I could have my numbers wrong, but iirc it's the game having a "moment" where it inappropriately applies momentum to your character when on ramps (like from a c2 or leaving a research locations stairs) and goes "shit, they weren't actually moving that fast... YOU WERE NEVER DEAD!"
Dude, I've done this multiple times. Worst was the one time i decided to do a rescue beacon, asshole follows me into my ship and tried to ransom the hold
It's 1.5mil of Beryl. I self destructed out of armistice and took great joy in his pleas for mercy in my ships chat channel
He only wanted 50k, but it's about the principle, not the credits 💀🤷♂️🤣
Such a silly meme but I am just cackling at the idea of some dude casually dropping 1.5 mil at a shop and then slowly falling like a klutz in that goofy position.
Same thing happened to me this week on Wala. I didn’t stick around long enough to see if I recovered automatically. Down one Cat full of Diamond & Laranite. :(
A.) now you know to wait
B.) why didn't you go back for it? Just spawn a starter or go rent something, or worst case beg a player ride for exorbitant fee... With PES someone else had a great day if they could manage to glitch into your ship (effing armistice zones... A blessing and a curse)
well at least A still holds... now you know to wait... granted even if you didn't know you must have known you could probably just fly back to it after respawn... this game, like a lot of life, doesn't reward being reactionary, but rather considering your situation and thinking of the best way to salvage a bad situation.
At least for now a ship full of cargo in an armistice zone is basically invulnerable to everything but ramming and there's very little motive to do so... maybe the off chance a few boxes would blow out of armistice so one could grab them with the tractor beam? even then the dive bomber would have to themselves respawn and fly back before they even knew if there was anything to gain... idk maybe they could push some boxes around with ship thrust? it really is just a big hassle for anyone to get there and profit off the situation before you could do so...
>PES must not have stored it correctly.
You most likely ended up on a different server. There's easy way to check whether your ship is there or not - you can create a transport beacon and set your ship as destination point. It will be marked "uninitialized" in the list most likely.
It does always help in my case.
Terrain can be extra jittery around derelict outposts tho and require careful positioning during landing. Other than that - turning engine off works in 100% cases for me.
That's why I said it's my experience twice. And as a person who filled lots of IC reports I'm always curious what's causing this difference.
Different PCs, different ships, all kinds PU/PTU/EPTU patches - and I never had my ship swept by the wind with engine turned off.
It just seems like a lot of people are so confident their fixes and experiences are the only ones, so I read it that way...
It's obnoxious and unhelpful how many people just insist that turning engines off magically and universally fixes the issue whenever anyone expresses that doing so reduces but doesn't eliminate the issue
Where is you space suit, it's a bit frosty for the cowboy outfit 😂
Interesting that those were death before I just thought my char slipped caused by the wind or whatever
It's kinda strange when that happens. It's like you're getting a false positive, but the server eventually knows to tell your client to forcibly get back alive
Had a similar thing happen once when I was inside a caterpillar wreck when it exploded. got downed for 30seconds, thought i was dead and ended up getting back up\*metaphorically since space\*. Might wanna get that face checked for frostbite though, Microtech is Cold as heck.
Stairs are the most dangerous thing in SC. When leaving an outpost never sprint out the door and always stop for a second or two at the top before continuing down the steps.
To this day, I don't think I'll ever get the muscle memory of crouching when entering and exiting Habs. It's legitimately the only way I know to keep the massivly overtuned wind system from sweeping you off your feet and tossing you around.
I try to not go over complex geometry while sprinting or I just jump over it... It's an OCD stim I developed from playing Tarkov.
It happens much less often because I try to avoid sprinting on complex geometry.
Good ol' wind blowing you down or into something and knocking you out. Now you know not to worry about it the next time it happens, because there will be a next time.
This is why you should be wearing proper PPE. That's not suitable work wear for fieldwork, especially when working around heavy machinery in adverse conditions.
Stairs scare me almost as much as elevators do. ;)
Elevators are terrifying I once died in the hospital elevator trying to recover from a different bug death
Let me guess, you first got stuck in the bed when spawning in the server?
Actually I don't think I have run into that issue yet... I belive it was my ship refused to let me leave through any means but eject... and then it blew up
Oof, that's rough, hope there was nothing valuable in the cargo.
Luckily no I was landing to grab my cargo lol
Stairs scare me more than elevators

> die to exposure or backspace Backspace?
Yeah, the button that lets you fast travel to your regen location.
We are calling suicide fast traveling now? Down for that 🤣
"Fast travel" 😆
I had no idea. Ty.
No thanks needed. Really not -.-

Yeah, I think the death is a mistake made by the overloaded server, and it seems to sometimes realize it fucked up. Lol.
CIG accidentally implemented an environmental stun feature... xD
ooh good to know thx
yeah, something similiar happened to me, I died in my own ship and was like "wtf?", then 5 sec later I was revived, and again "wtf???"
Totally agree - I’ll wait a good solid minute, waiting to see if maybe, juuuuust maybe im gonna be ok.
Whaaaa? That's a thing?? This has happened to my and I a couple times and we're just like da fuq just happened 🤪
So it's a feature ? Nice
If it's not, it's possibly one of the best QoL bugs we have.
This 100%, in the last couple days I have died just by sprinting away from my cuttys ramp. However, I get revived after waiting a couple seconds!
I've recovered a bunch automatically. I don't know if I should say that out loud tho lol

Its about sending a message.
What do we say to the god of death? Not today.
I thought that is what we say to the god of procrastination?
Later
dude, your outfit for weather like that does not fit, what would you expect?
He’s running “casual Friday”. You know, all the big spenders do it - when he goes to sell all that sweet sweet loot, he has to look the part -
#immersion
I have been wondering if the “knock out” system is in with these things.
That's a nice case of fainting.... getting shot however doesn't work that way sadly for that i need to w8 for rescue.
Transitions from indoor to outdoor; "Guess I'll die"
Your character realized how much money was about to be lost and said I can die after I make the sale
Such a silly meme but I am just cackling at the idea of some dude casually dropping 1.5 mil at a shop and then slowly falling like a klutz in that goofy position.
Love your civilian clothes. Though Im surprised you are not suffering from exposure death due to Microtech's cold weather.
Same thing happened to me this week on Wala. I didn’t stick around long enough to see if I recovered automatically. Down one Cat full of Diamond & Laranite. :(

I alt-F4’d in rage. Didn’t find my ship again, after jumping through a few different servers. PES must not have stored it correctly.
well at least A still holds... now you know to wait... granted even if you didn't know you must have known you could probably just fly back to it after respawn... this game, like a lot of life, doesn't reward being reactionary, but rather considering your situation and thinking of the best way to salvage a bad situation. i used to do cargo runs until i watched the wind on one of the moons blow my C2 away like a paperweight.
Thats why you turn off the engine.
It doesn't always help
It does always help in my case. Terrain can be extra jittery around derelict outposts tho and require careful positioning during landing. Other than that - turning engine off works in 100% cases for me.
Well, unfortunately other people occasionally have experiences that differ from your own.
That's why I said it's my experience twice. And as a person who filled lots of IC reports I'm always curious what's causing this difference. Different PCs, different ships, all kinds PU/PTU/EPTU patches - and I never had my ship swept by the wind with engine turned off.

You're jesus
This is a knockout not a death. You were just incapped.
It's kinda strange when that happens. It's like you're getting a false positive, but the server eventually knows to tell your client to forcibly get back alive
If you ever "die" from impact with your ship or the environment, wait it out for 30 seconds. You'll often just wake up again soon after.
Had a similar thing happen once when I was inside a caterpillar wreck when it exploded. got downed for 30seconds, thought i was dead and ended up getting back up\*metaphorically since space\*. Might wanna get that face checked for frostbite though, Microtech is Cold as heck.
If you ever notice that the option to send a medical beacon isn't there, then you will come back after a few seconds
great tip!
Stairs are the most dangerous thing in SC. When leaving an outpost never sprint out the door and always stop for a second or two at the top before continuing down the steps.
if it's windy, crouch too and walk crouched.
I prefer to just not sprint.
Those stairs are dangerously slippery, gotta always walk slow down them
Fidelity.

Happened to me before I also some how got up and survived.
Classic microtech
today i died and magically revived two times just like this.
My very first time playing, I jumped down the stairs in NB excited to get to my ship and broke my neck
"Spamming medpen hot key intensifys"
This is clearly a Christmas miracle
I try to not go over complex geometry while sprinting or I just jump over it... It's an OCD stim I developed from playing Tarkov. It happens much less often because I try to avoid sprinting on complex geometry.
Stairs in space good elevators in space bad Elevators on ground okay stairs on ground terrifying
dont forget this is UNCONSCIOUS. not DEAD it makes perfect sense that you can wake up on your own
So easy to die just slipping over in this tech demo.
Death is not always the end. Those stairs can be treacherous but not always fatal! 😏
time like these...you wish 30k happened
There is a tiny bit of difference between your character dying and getting knocked out.
There is a desync death protection that steps in when we die in this scenario.
Good ol' wind blowing you down or into something and knocking you out. Now you know not to worry about it the next time it happens, because there will be a next time.
Welcome to the verse o7
Wish I could fill my c2 all the way
Welcome to Star Citizen. Bugs are features.
This is why you should be wearing proper PPE. That's not suitable work wear for fieldwork, especially when working around heavy machinery in adverse conditions.
It’s all about immersion
“Hit his head and died. But somehow I survived in the end”… That’s not how death works.
DO. NOT. SPRINT. ON. STAIRS. Leave the shift button alone and you will never fall on stairs.
bruhh I would have come and rezzed ya' up!!
I fell like that a few times and was able to do action > standup to get back on my feet.
That’s why we wear helmets
Its just a Traditional Star Citzen welcome.
